Re: [LegacyUG] Drop Box & GenView App for Ipod Touch

2009-12-18 Thread Deborah Trounstine

This is my first post, so please be kind :)
Thanks to the mentions here on LUG, I downloaded GedView to my iPhone
this morning. It's amazing, well worth the $3.99 and it works perfectly
with Legacy. I'm going to use it for all my field research from now on.
I've been lurking on this list for a while now and want to thank
everyone for their great tips. I've already learned so much from you
all.

I don't seem to find an application for the iPhone called GenViewer.
Genviewer does work on Windows, but I have not seen the application for the
iPhone.

I use FamViewer for the the iPhone.

[LegacyUG] Drop Box & GenView App for Ipod Touch

2009-12-18 Thread Norman Weston
Having just re-subscribed again after being dropped from the list for
no apparent reason, I have been reviewing the recent message archives.
Two excellent items have come out of my research. Firstly Drop Box has
at last sorted all my genealogy and other backup issues at a stroke,
so thank you to whoever posted about that. The second is the App for
the Ipod Touch (or Iphone) called GenViewer. I used to carry around
with me a PDA with pocket genealogist, it was OK but cumbersome to
use. This app was installed within minutes at a cost of 2.99 euros, I
uploaded my gedcom and was amazed at the functionality of it. It
utilizes google maps for all places just like Legacy and Bing, has
pedigree view, decendant view and even family group sheets. WOW!
Thanks to Steve for posting, what a find. Cheers
