Re: [LegacyUG] Gedcom size
This does not work. I set the tag for 20 generations an I get my 35th and 40th GGP included. There must be something I am doing wrong. Or the method does nt w2ork. Using my method of tagging everyone you want to export, if you tagged an entire family line you would then need to UNtag those who were beyond the 20 generations you wanted. However, Brian Support offered a better solution than mine, which was to create a Focus Group which you can limit to a certain number of generations. Jenny, Thanks, but I want all lines included. I just want to stop at the 20th generation for all of them. Re: [LegacyUG] Gedcom size
When selecting a focus group of ancestors for a person you have the option of limiting the number of generations included. I am not sure what you mean by all of them, do you have a bunch of co-lateral lines to include such as your wife's ancestors or ancestors of aunts and uncles by marriage? If so you can create a focus group with multiple lines of ancestors by selecting more than one starting person. The focus group will include all the defined lines you include on the screen. For example if you set up a focus group with the following four selections: Ancestors of yourself and all spouses for 20 generations Ancestors of your wife and all spouses for 20 generations Ancestors of Cousin Bill for 20 generations Ancestors of Aunt Bertha (she married your uncle Joe) for 20 generations The GEDCOM will include everyone who fits one of those selections (duplicates will only be included once). There is also an option to include the entire ancestor line for a starting person that will include everyone linked to the starting person in any way such as relations by marriage. That might give you everyone you are looking for with only yourself selected. The generation limit should still apply.
