Hi Tony,

As far as I know, you can't.

However, the full reference doesn't appear to be needed for someone to find the
entry again. Apparently Ancestry is right that you just need the RG14 piece
number and the household schedule number.
Just leave the RG78 blank.

I'm not in a position to drop one subscription or the other. Both have
databases that are vital to my research that the other doesn't have.

Bob, the 1911 census is referenced differently from the other UK censuses
because what has been kept are the householder schedules which were destroyed
for other censuses. The enumerator for other censuses copied the whole of the
householder schedule to his book. In 1911 the enumerator's Census Summary Book
only has the head of households name. So there are two series numbers for the
1911 census. RG14 and RG78

Hi Tony,

Ancestry includes a RG # in the 'Source Citation' usually below the transcribed
data - such as:

1911 England Census
Source Citation: Class: RG14; Piece: 4269; Schedule Number: 122

Is this the 'RG#' you are looking for or is the RG78 number a specific one?

I had been using Find My Past for 1911 UK census data and they included the
RG78 Series number as part of the detail information. I've let my FMP
subscription lapse since Ancestry now have the 1911 information, but Ancestry
doesn't include the RG78 number anywhere that I can find.

Legacy8 has a field for that number in the 1911 census source, so can anyone
explain how to get i t from the Ancestry data, or is there a cross-reference
anywhere which links the RG14, RD, RS and ED numbers to the RG78 number

Thanks

Tony
