Hi Valerie

Back up everything first.

I have the merge tool under "My Toolbar", but it is also available under
"Tools". It will put the current person in the left hand position and you
can select then select the right hand person. You can also select a
different left hand person. Just be sure to get the correct two people
selected. You also have some choices with the data - for example a more
complete birth date on one side and death date on the other side. The tool
will let you know your choices, but check all of the tabs so the notes,
media etc merge the way you want.

If one of the two has any children or other spouses etc, be careful. I
merge the children before any parent merges. I messed up once when the
father and son had the same name. It took a while for me to realize I had
merged to the wrong generation and then unwind the mess.

Merging higher RIN #'s with lower RIN's is generally best.

If you are merging because names were spelled differently, you might want
to preserve the second spelling (Alternative names). Likewise check your
citations, relationships, dates, media etc. after the merge.

Best advice, backup first and don't rush.
