Why not copy and paste these MRINs into a text document and save that?

I realise that load and save Report Settings did not save the MRINs (I
must have been using different unique legacy files to my method to
have worked)

RE: [LegacyUG] Print book

2013-03-06 Thread CE WOOD

Thanks for giving me the location of the .usr files. Too bad they are not
included in the files Legacy backs up when it does a back up! They are quite
important, after all. I am sorry I was not clear about the MRINs. I created a
Multi report from more than 20 MRINs. It was a pain to find all of them. I do
not dare create another Multi report without somehow saving the MRINs that I
used for this report. Is there a way to do this without creating a printed
report and then searching through the report for them if I again want to create
the same report?

The MRINs never change.

I have a number of Multiple Lines of Descents books that I produce

1. At the bottom of the first window it has *Change* (perhaps this
couldhave been worded as "Select"
this allows you to select the marriage ID of the top ancestor for
family A, B, ..

2. I select the required options: Index, Report and Title page

3. In the Report Settings I select Save (the save this as something
like "multi_book_A_B")

4. It is your choice to run as PDF. RTF. etc which are save when you
save your report settings.

5. I run the report (Print/Create)

If I ever need to run this report again or have changed data, etc so
that I want to produce an updated copy, I run "Multiple Lines of
Descent"

1. In the Report Settings I select Load ("multi_book_A_B").

:)

The load and save buttons on all the report screens are for loading and
saving the settings for those reports not for a copy of the report
contents. Note that the buttons are surrounded by a box labelled report
settings. In the preview you have a create PDF button to create pdf file
with the contents or on the report screen you can choose one of the
other report destinations to create a text file, HTML file, RTF file or
a PDF file. Each of those will open a file browser where you can choose
the location of the report.

Where does Legacy save Multiple Lines of Descent files. Clicking on Load
brings up a list of my computer sites. I then have to click on C and Legacy,
which brings up a list folders from BackGrnd to WebPics. I am supposed to enter
the File name at the bottom of the screen. But I am trying to find the files I
loaded. For that matter, to which folder do I save a report I have created?
Clicking Save brings up the same computer screen as Load. with no clue of which
folder I should be saving the file is? In which folder are .usr files saved?
Help is absolutely no help in this. In contrast, when I save an .fdb file, the
location is given! CE

Jerry,

You need to look at the book report Lines of Multiple Descent. This is a
descendent which starts with the eldest ancestor(s) of both persons and merges
them.

Use the Publishing Centre. In that you can create a book with any number
of Chapters, each a separate report such as an Ancestor Report for your
Father in one chapter and and Ancestor Report for you Mother in the
other. You will need the Deluxe Edition to use that feature.

[LegacyUG] Print book

2013-03-06 Thread Jerry Whitt

Hi I'm new to this usergroup

Is there a way to create a book (PDF or webpage) , in Legacy family tree, that
will include two different lines of ancestors ?
What I'm trying to achieve is to make one book with my Father's ancestors and
include my Mother's ancestors also. So far I've only been able to create two
different books, one of my father's line and another of my Mother's.

Thank you,

Jerry Whitt
