I would write Notes for both Martha and Ellen explaining that one or other of them married Robert and had daughters Mary and Jean. Then I'd write Notes for Robert to say he married either Martha or Ellen and had daughers Mary and Jean. Whether you would want these to be General Notes or Research Notes is up to you. I would enter a brief summary of Grandfather's Will in the Event Notes, but would probably just refer there to Mary and Jean as his granddaughters. In addition, I would create a To Do about finding out which sister married Robert and had the children. This could be attached to any or all of Ellen, Mary and/or Robert. If the people are fairly peripheral to my tree I'd give the To Do(s) a Low priority. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). I'd write the story under Research notes for the person whose Will it is and get onto something I care about. - JL Beeken JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://jlog.jgen.ws/ On 1/27/2013 5:55 PM, Pat Hickin wrote: > Let's say there is a big debate as to whether John B---'s daughter > Martha B- or daughter Ellen B-- married Robert G--- and had > daughters Mary G and Jean G-, both of whom are named in their > maternal grandfather B---'s will. > > Let's say there is no good way to find out readily and they are not in > your direct line and you don't want to expend a lot of time and energy, > but you do want to document their existence and the controversy. > > I'd love to know where and how you handle this kind of matter?? > > Thanks, > Pat > > > Legacy User Group guidelines: > http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp > Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: > http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ > Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: > http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ > Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp > Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and > on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). > To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). [LegacyUG] conflicting info
Let's say there is a big debate as to whether John B---'s daughter Martha B- or daughter Ellen B-- married Robert G--- and had daughters Mary G and Jean G-, both of whom are named in their maternal grandfather B---'s will. Let's say there is no good way to find out readily and they are not in your direct line and you don't want to expend a lot of time and energy, but you do want to document their existence and the controversy. I'd love to know where and how you handle this kind of matter??
