Nancy,
We have a list of User Groups on our website at
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/UsersGroups.asp
Take a look and see if there isn't already one near you. There are
some very basics on that page on getting a group started.
We don't sponsor the groups - what you do is entirely up to you. Some
show the training videos or webinars (you do need permission from the
presenter if the webinar isn't done by Geoff), some have a regular
Legacy expert to do the presentations, some take turns.
Besides asking on the LUG list or FB page if anyone is interested, you
can ask the local genealogy society to put out feelers and maybe even
post a flyer at the local FHC or public library.
You'll need a laptop, projector and screen. If you show the videos,
you'll need speakers for the laptop.
I do lead a group (the only one with a Legacy staffer!). I had done a
presentation on Legacy at our local genealogy group and a bunch of the
Legacy users asked if I'd start a user group. We've been meeting
monthly for over 8 years now and they won't let me take a break .
The only time I get off is when a holiday falls on our regular meeting
day and for a couple of months after my knee replacement and they
ended up having me Skype in!
The way I do it is pick a feature to discuss each month, except the
4th month I do general Q The group has no problems with me
repeating presentations a year or so later because they need
refreshers, so don't feel like you'll run out of ideas. Plus it makes
it easier to just revise the handout for a previous class. I love it
when a new version of Legacy is released because I then have new
things to talk about!
I'm sure we have other listers who lead groups and can give their
suggestions. Good luck and have fun!
Sincerely,
Sherry
