Math in viewrendered

Math doesn't show up in viewrendered for either @rst or @md nodes.  There's 
a setting for vr-math-output = mathjax, but the mathjax isn't rendering for 
me.  

The obsolete viewrendered2 was able to show math for @rst nodes, so it must 
be feasible.  What has to be configured to show math symbols and equations 
in VR?  Would that be a javascript script import element in the HTML header?
