New BLFS Editor

2009-07-22 Thread Randy McMurchy
Hi all,

I'd like to announce that Wayne Blaszczyk has accepted a position as a BLFS
Editor. Wayne has recently been sending in patches for the BLFS book to add
new packages.

Wayne will make a fine addition to the BLFS team and I encourage everyone
to welcome him as the newest addition to the editing team.

 Welcome on board Wayne!!  Congratulations!

 And from me.

In the meanwhile I have a quite fine KDE4 (4.2.4) installation running. It
seems to make great progress to reach the quality/stability of 3.5.10. Not to
far in the future, 4.3 will be out and this is what we should have a look on
for the book, I think. Don't you?

Another New BLFS Editor

2008-03-06 Thread Randy McMurchy
Hi all,

I'm pleased to announce that Thomas Trepl has accepted a position as
a BLFS editor. Thomas has been quite involved recently and has submitted
many patches to update the book. Thomas also shows a keen technical ability
with the book's packages and the XML along with a high level of
enthusiasm.

I encourage everyone to make Thomas feel welcome and help me send
out a rousing thanks to him for accepting the position.

(sorry for the canned-letter type of email announcement, Thomas, but
I more or less just copied the previous email from today)

Yes, one of the things on my TODO list is to pump ICA functionality
into jhalfs. Shouldn't be too hard, but there are a couple subtle
places to be careful of in the looping. I don't have a really strong
understanding of the Makefile generation yet, so maybe we can work on
it together.
