[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62867] New: Word wrap does not work properly when image is left of the left margin.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62867 Priority: medium Bug ID: 62867 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: Word wrap does not work properly when image is left of the left margin. Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: thefrugalcomputer...@yahoo.com Hardware: Other Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.0.1.2 release Component: Writer Product: LibreOffice Created attachment 77155 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=77155action=edit Example of an image, inserted to the left of 2 inch margin, showing margin applied to the right of the image. I have my margin set at 2 inches. If I place an image at 2 inches (or more) the word wrap works as expected. If I place an image a 1.5 inches (or less than 2 inches) the 2 inch margin is applied to the right and I have a 2 inch gap before the text starts. I expected the text to wrapping to work as it does when the picture is moved past the left margin. (See picture attached of image at 1.5 and indent of 2). The workaround for the incorrect word count is go to Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer - General, and in the Word Count, additional separators box, add the - character. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60477 --- Comment #1 from Steve redmi...@yahoo.co.uk --- The function numbers used by Excel and Calc differ. Excel uses the function numbers 1-11 and 101-111. The first group includes hidden cells whereas the second group doesn't but both groups are otherwise the same. I cannot find a way to have custom page numbering as you described in Writer. I tried: 1. Insert page number. 2. Double click just before the page number field. 3. In the Edit Field window, try to find a format that matches the one you want. That format is not there, nor is an option for a custom format. I also tried to go to Format- Page and go to the Page tab. The format drop down there does not have an option for the numbering scheme. I will change the status of this bug to NEW. And/or do you use any mouse cursor/pointer utility, i.e. some little application or control panel etc. which animates or replaces etc. the mouse curser/pointer, like * LazyMouse? And/or do you use any special software which could be related to accessibility stuff, e.g. a screen reader, screen magnifier, speech recognition software, a text-to-speech (dictation) application, or similar? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62745] EDITING: right-click inconsistency on selected text
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62745 --- Comment #2 from Ryo Furue fu...@hawaii.edu --- Thank you for your input. In my opinion this not a bug. Which kind of context menu appears depends on the word on which you double-click. If this word is correct, then the normal context menu appears. If this word has a typing error, then the spellchecker context menu appears. First of all, let's NOT ask whether this is a bug or not. Let's ask whether this is a desirable behavior. I don't think it is. My argument is as follows. There are TONS of applications---browsers, text editors, drawing tools, presentation software, PDF viewers, etc.---on which you can select a portion of text, right-click on it, and copy it to the clipboard. Think about it. There are TONS of them. Users, including me, are used to the behavior. That's a very, very common behavior. You can say it's the standard behavior. As far as I know, LibreOffice Impress is the only application that sometimes fails to offer a copy option on a text selection. You can imagine how irritating that is. So, please include copy and cut (or delete) in the context menu, even when spellchecker kicks in. Second, what you say is not entirely true. If this word is correct, then the normal context menu appears. If this word has a typing error, then the spellchecker context menu appears. What I experience is different. Write a piece of text containing several misspelled words and correct ones. By mouse-dragging, choose a portion of the text and right-click on it. If the selection is a single misspelled word, the spellchecker menu always appears, as you describe. But, if the selection includes both correct and misspelled words, the spellchecker menu appears in some cases and the normal menu (including copy) appears in other cases. Which menu appears seems to be random to me. (I don't understand the rules that determines it.) So, the current behavior is worse than you describe. We can call this part a bug, I think. But, even if it's not a bug, the behavior needs fixing. Third, is it a good idea to have the spellchecker menu on right-click? I think it's too much intrusion. Think about a situation where there are foreign personal names the dictionary doesn't know and you want to copy a portion of text including those names. The intrusion of spellchecker is simply annoying. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
