[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83771] Other: New feature in paragraph or character formating: Dont Count
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83771 Martin mar...@winnetui.ch changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED Ever confirmed|1 |0 --- Comment #4 from Martin mar...@winnetui.ch --- Its an enhancement request, that's true, I didnt find this section so I reported as bug. To me, its still a really nice to have. The proposed workaraound using comment function works of course, but often it isnt really satisfying - extensively used the document looses its shape and readability completely. about example text: I am a german native. To produce an artificial demo text in english is to much to me at the moment. Let me describe again the kind of my applications of this non-counting paragraphs: 1.) Personal find again- margin titles, which normally are deleted at delivery time, but I need the char count during work...(Am I below or above?) 2.) unused / rough text material, catchwords, may-be-deleted text parts, may-be-ideas, nice figures of speech, ... all this I like to keep in my document - but not counting until they get part of the text. (by this method I dont loose or forgett things - I eat them all to the final state. But I need always the information: time to keep short or not ? 3.) Alternatives for titles and other: my favorite I would like to put as counting paragraph, the alternatives not, but optically easy to compare to the corrector /publisher 4.) causing explanations and other comment-like text not clearly attached to a certain text position, as layout hints, proposals etc. On an other point of view this feature allows me to design several comment-styles just the way I like it or find it convenient to interpret by the pre-reader - and at the same time to be shure the size fits. At the end of the process, a elimination of all non counting would be an additional cookie - but this happens once per text, no real need for that. If I am the only one or if there is a contradiction to other logics - its just a wish, raised on using swriter. Thankyou anyway for your fine work. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 90048] Add Nicer Looking Default Styles
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90048 Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||philip...@hotmail.com See Also||https://bugs.documentfounda ||tion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86 ||039 --- Comment #4 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com --- (In reply to Joel Madero from comment #2) Sounds reasonable - but doesn't prevent us adding new styles that are prettier. I suggest something like Header1Gr, TitleGr, etc Have to agree with Mirek on this part, as we must utilize the default headings so that a user will still be able to create a TOC from the document. I know that's a bit overwhelming and it'd be great if we could filter styles somehow but this would enable us to make a nice green set of styles that would be bolder, prettier, and more demonstrative of character/paragraph styles than what we currently have being used. Yes i think the green style set looks nice, but bloating the already bloated current list of default document styles wouldnt be the best way to go about it. I know that one thing on the table is allowing installing style packages - if we can do that and start hosting tarballs on the template page that has a package of styles that users create, that would be a partial solution (although having a default pretty style seems appropriate to me) Yes it would be great to have a style set site, similar to the extensions and templates site, where users are able to submit styles that could be shared with other users. (In reply to Mirek2 from comment #3) What you're really looking for are themes, which, if we're aiming for full Office compatibility, will have to be implemented sooner or later. Try to encourage a dev with free time to take a look at it. The Calligra guys wanted to work on this as well, so the dev could work together with them. (They did a write-up on themes on https://blogs.kde.org/2011/12/14/fruits-css2-shared-themes, and they were willing to work on it if someone from LibreOffice worked on it as well.) I think he is more likely looking for a simpler solution like MSO Quick Styles (aka style sets), which hopefully will be implemented with the group styles idea from bug 86039. As MSO themes are embedded into documents as standard styles when they are saved, i dont think LO needs to implement themes for compatibility. Reading through the link, i dont think LO will likely implement themes anytime soon as there would be quite a bit of development not only in LO but at the ODF level to achieve it. I have emailed the author of the link to see how far he has gotten with the work mentioned. As for a better default template, I feel like better fonts could make a difference. For example, using Open Sans (or the very similar Noto Sans) or Source Sans Pro instead of Liberation Sans (itself a copy of Arial, which in turn is a copy of Helvetica). The problem with that is that Open Sans isn't available on most devices and bundling the font with every document could dramatically increase each document's size... I'm not sure what the right solution here is -- a thought I had was to try and persuade some influential parties (Adobe, Google, Apple, ...) to decide on a modern set of standard fonts (Adobe's Source family is a good candidate), but that would require someone willing to devote a bunch of time to this, with no guarantee of a positive result. We are currently bundling Google's Caladea and Carlito as alternatives to Cambria and Calibri, so we could easily switch to that over Liberation Sans and Serif as the default fonts. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise

Main affected file: shell/source/backends/desktopbe/desktopbackend.cxx Currently I am trying to set the value manually in desktopbackend.cxx. Since the officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/UserProfile.xcu has this: prop oor:name=givenname value install:module=unixdesktop oor:external=com.sun.star.configuration.backend.DesktopBackend givenname/ /prop I figured that it would call getPropertyValue to get the givenname value. Since it would call getPropertyValue, the function should return brent. This would then automatically fill in the tools-options-user data name value correct? However it does not seem to fill it in. Oh and before I did this I recompiled the shell, officecfg, and postprocess modules (shell contained the backend) so that these changes may take affect. Then I ran LibreOffice. I was wondering if this was because the program no longer checks for default values using the UserProfile.xcu file or if there was another reason. CPdrag is a first solution, but also you may add another thing. Create a spreadsheet with a complete format chart on it. Also, it con contain a lot of dummy series previously formatted. This chart will work in a way as a template (you may save it as OTS as well) Save that ODS file containing that chart, and when you need it in a spreadsheet: 1) Right click in the name of the sheet 2) Select insert sheet. 3) A dialog will appear, select from file button. 4) Navigate to your ODS file with the template chart and select it. 5) There will appear a list of sheets of your template. Select the sheet that has the chart on it. Now, a new sheet with your template chart will appear. Then, you proceed with the CPdrag approach. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90462] New: Inconsistent behaviour of Advance Slide - Automatically after: in the Slide Transition sidebar
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90462 Bug ID: 90462 Summary: Inconsistent behaviour of Advance Slide - Automatically after: in the Slide Transition sidebar Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.4.0.3 release Hardware: Other OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk Split from bug 90349 The behaviour of Advance Slide - Automatically after: in the Slide Transition sidebar is inconsistent and does not seem very friendly. - When No transition is selected, the Automatically after: field can be freely edited and is coerced to 0.00 sec only after leaving the field. This seems reasonable to me - When any transition is selected, the format is coerced over-enthusiastically to 0.00 sec while you type. The visual and logical behaviour of this seems sub-optimal. Whether a digit is inserted or deleted when typing depends on the position of the cursor and the current content, which means the user has to keep a complex mental model of what the effect of a given combination of position/content/input will be. The user (or at least this user) would generally prefer to be able to add and delete characters at will to reach a desired number. In addition, when a digit is forced to be overwritten, a digit is first displayed being inserted, then deleted (causing ugly flicker) For instance, (| denotes the position of the cursor) 1.00| sec, type Backspace x3 = 100.00 sec (surprising) 1|.00 sec, type Backspace, 4 = 40.00 sec (surprising) 1.|00 sec, type 1 = briefly 1.100 sec = 1.10 sec (ugly) The only situation where the scheme which is currently attempted would make consistent sense is if the format (including the total number of digits) were truly fixed - e.g. always 000.00 - and attempts to delete the decimal point were ignored. However, I would suggest that the most reasonable behaviour is that of the current No transition case, i.e. no coercion while typing at all. Additional suggestion: Return should format and confirm the currently input value -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
