Re: Allow extensions to provide color palettes
On 02/12/16 14:58, Stephan Bergmann wrote: > Does anybody know an authoritative reference? Years ago, when I first started playing with them, the "authoritative reference" was the source code, and some developer documentation for it. IIRC, the important bits were in Hacker German. > how users are supposed to make use of multiple files in a single category. What I do, is copy the appropriate file to standard.so#. My guess is that most users of LibO aren't aware that those other palettes exist, much less which components of LibO can utilize them. I created my standard.so# files a long time ago, and, when I setup LibO, automatically copy them to /user/config/. > The resulting .oxt works as expected by making the "My Extension" > palette available, but it does not drop any file into the > UserInstallation's user/config/ directory. What I'm looking for here, is an easy way for palette creators to get their palettes in the LibO Extension repository. My thinking is to write step by step instructions for non-coders. * Setup git on your platform; * Create an account on GitHub; * Clone that repository in your GitHub space; * Rename the repository you just cloned; * Import it onto your platform; * Copy your *.so# file into the downloaded files; * Run makefile; * Export everything back to GitHub; * Mark the *.oxt file as ready for downloading; * Write down the URL for your released OXT file on GitHub; * Log into the LibO Extension space with your LibO credentials; * Create the pagedata for your colour palette; * Provide the GitHub URL, when asked; * Wait at least five days (^1), before firing off nastygrams because it hasn't yet been approved, and you haven't received a reason why it was declined; Something similar to the current, albeit erroneous _Publishing Extensions_ file, except just for palettes. Now wondering if perhaps if creating something like https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries except for palettes would be worthwhile. Toss your *.so# file here, and the system will take care of everything needed for further distribution within the ODF ecosystem. I'm assuming that: i: https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries is related to https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/User:Dennisroczek/CDP, and is a result of the thread that starts at https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/msg09832.html; ii: The _Collaboration Dictionary Project_ automatically wraps dictionaries, thesauri, and hyphenation into .OXT wrappers; ^1" Five days, because that is the current target within which to respond to dev submissions. jonathon jonath ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice

Hello, Just read about order evaluation in chaining functions problem (from French article http://linuxfr.org/news/cpp-17-fixe-l-ordre-d-evaluation-des-expressions). It seems that, depending on compiler, the result can be different. Here some link in English this time: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27158812/does-this-code-from-the-c-programming-language-4th-edition-section-36-3-6-ha/27158813#27158813 Perhaps everybody knew that here but for those who like me didn't know... [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104365] New: Line Spacing not found in writer context menu
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104365 Bug ID: 104365 Summary: Line Spacing not found in writer context menu Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.6.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: drankina...@suddenlinkmail.com Created attachment 129263 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=129263=edit screenshot of the proper placements of line-spacing, fornt, size and style in context I have used LibreOffice writer (and openoffice before that) for a decade and I have relied heavily on the edit context menu containing the 'Line Spacing' context menu as legal documents shift between single/double space many times within a page. For reasons unexplained the 'Line Spacing' feature was dropped from the normal right-click context menu. This regression needs to be fixed. There was good design choice and reason for placement of 'Line Spacing' within the right-click context menu. On IRC the developer suggestion was just customize the context menu (either the wiki is wrong, or his knowledge of context menus is on par with the intelligence that removed it) You cannot modify the context menu (e.g. https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Customize) Quoting: "Customizes and saves current menu layouts as well as creates new menus. You cannot customize context menus." The original writer context menu was indispensable, well thought out, and helped you get more work done with less clicks and keystrokes (that's what it is ALL about). See the attached screenshot (linespacing_in_context_menu.png). It also places at the mouse-pointer, immediate access to font, size, style and alignment). The ham-fisted removal of these items removes critical functionality that has been relied upon by users for years. The current context menu is a joke. (see: attached no_linespacing_in_context_menu.jpg) The problem with the changes to LO that effectively breaks 'efficient' functionality is readily apparent. The developers involved in these decisions have no practical experience in high-volume technical document production in the real-world. As a 20 year lawyer, who works with highly technical document formatting every day, I can tell you these changes make a huge difference. You got it wrong with the context-menu removals, and that dramatically effects the efficient operation of writer for the worse. Instead of the things you most need being instantly available in the context menu as they always have, not for every line-spacing, font, size, style change, etc. you have to completely refocus from what you were doing, change your perspective from the document to the menu or tool bar at the top of the document and go pawing through mulit-level menus to do what used to be a simple rt-click/done. That's the consideration, that's "Human Factors", that's 'what the context menu changes destroys. These changes may make your work-flow easier with the context menu, but it sucks-rocks in the real world. Please restore the line-spacing, style, font and size functionality to the rt-click context menu in writer. It it actually very important to the real-world efficiency of writer. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103631] FORMATTING: Text doesn't behave according to style definition
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103631 --- Comment #10 from JBW--- Well, I probably could. However, you now have pretty much the same information that I have, so it is just a matter of who is to attempt the tiresome and time-consuming business of trial and error to recreate the trail that leads "scientifically" as you put it, to the error. But here our paths separate. I tried to get LO5 to work for me; it failed on this item (and there may be others); I will move on, having attempted as best I can to describe my problem so that it can be solved. You presumably have a vested interest in solving problems like this and doing the excellent work that makes products like LO5 available. I admire this effort and appreciate it, but am committed to other work and will move on. If there's further _information_ that I can provide, let me know. But no, I don't wish to try to recreate this document. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
