Windows 10. Defender is completely disabled (even at Group Policy level)

Yeah disabled is not disabled when having to do with MS... -.-

Tried to build ignoring that check?
Maybe the check needs adoption...

Yep. You're back in core (sd/source/filter/eppt/) now.

I cannot remember if we merged all history from hg, svn, cws to git...

If not, somebody else (Thorsten? *g*) has to help as these old

Well or nobody wanted to invest the money/time in such a specialized fea
ture
and "better" invest the same time / money for "interoperability" of MS
formats.

It is a specialized feature for power users and thus the amount of
potential users is very, VERY low. But that doesn't mean that the "few
users" of this feature would fell in love. Hence read the forum entries:
there are so many users who try to get the old WordPrefect somehow
working...

It is similar to old Opera12 users using the browser for special cases
and miss many of these features in other browsers (luckily finally
Vivaldi is catching up as a drop-in-replacement!)

Hi Patrick,

moreover I only want to add that LibreOffice 5.4 reached the status "End
of Life" (EOL) and thus is not longer supported by The Document Foundati
on.

Windows XP 64-bit was also never supported with LibreOffice 64-bit, only
the LibreOffice 32-bit executable. (through I guess that LibreOffice
would run without any problems)

I do not want to nitpick, but I do many, many, MANY Windows devs in thei
r
separated world, who even do not know revision tools (not ever heard of
git), nor compilers except VC or even stranger stuff. If this "tutorial"
is for newbees, then tell them that Windows 7+ is supported, otherwise
some might come with an old Windows XP or even stranger system. Do not
ask, I have experienced very strange stuff in the paid-windows-world
with their many bubbles where everybody knows each other groups (around
one product); do believe me: their are many products (not only from MS,
but in general) with their own bubble!

Well again: I will have to setup a windows VM in the next few days for
getting LibO build on Windows on my own. I always did that on a Linux
because of the knowledge that windows is undocumented.

In the end this situation is because of a missing motivation to keep the
requirements on track. Doesn't matter where: buildbots, tinderboxes,
google fuzz, cloph (release), wiki, scripts, etc... Mostly a simply
message to the ml is missing. (This is just an observation by mainly
non-dev / non-builder; just a reader of wiki, irc, mailing lists, etc;
exception this week about font-python stuff)

Docker would maybe possible with the latest (TM) Windows 10 stuff.

Thorsten, don't get me wrong. I do not say that this is your fault, it's
just your words in that mail why I have to write that. I know you and
many of others the crowd. I know that happens too easily (by accident,
or well, not getting paid for!). I see that problem from outside
(similar I have with my own company, and nobody is listening!) - This is
more a general problem not willing to write at least a few minutes to a
ML hoping this can be found on google; maybe pinging at least
buildbots-owners to know that they have to install stuff , well or
simply to help newcomers because they will might help you in a half year
(or not!).

For this a general overview is often missing. (This is not a rant saying
the TDF should do that, this is simply a rant!)

I would love to talk you this weekend, but sadly I cannot come to
Hamburg as I'm having another appointment on Saturday in Frankfurt. :-(

not out of date.
Apple Numbers was just updated (in March) and what I have found was that
there aren't any new functions. But I will do a "indepth" new comparison
later this month.

The missing bits are only the statistical comparison I hadn't any time
(but I do promise to finish that in the next few months)

For all missing functions from number were bug reports created (and some
other were I found either documentations errors or ODF/OOXML
implementation errors).

I hadn't added LibreOffice newer functions as they are simply added to
LibreOffice and not to Numbers (and don't improve the comparison).

creation of much better unit tests revealed quite some bugs (mostly mino

Hi *,

BTW: I just tested the build yesterday night with the computer at my
dad's home (which is still used as fax, music machine, and with a
cashier software) and LibreOffice installs fine, and works like a charm.
(importing PDF, opening DOC, creating a new Calc sheet)

This machine has nearly all visual studio distributables installed and
works since ages with this configuration. (nearly no programs installed;
still getting security patches through the "POS"-bit in the registry)

If the functions which do use OpenCL do not work, then normal users will

Well you change code which is only trickered when working on Windows.
That your build (and jenkins) build fine for other platforms is not
really surprising.

Did you check the log of the windows console? It clearly states that it
cannot find your moved file.

Hi Jan,

why cannot Björn's contributions be licensed under CC-0 or under Public

It's the same if somebody wants to use APLv2. It is compatible with our
license and it totally valid.

yes, please. But be careful: we might have to modify the upload script /
naming of the images. :-(

If the dialog changes, a new image would get generated. If that uploaded
under the same name would change the help-pages for older versions. :-(

But using every time a new naming (e.g. including the version number in
the name) then we would simply have to upload too many useless MBs and
store them online

your idea is mentioned on the Crazy Idea page on the wiki since a very

As Lotus Symphony had already such an interface (which is now under

Hi Jan,

as you can see on the history of the wiki page
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Functions_comparison_of_LibreOffice_
Calc_and_Numbers
I'm still checking the manual of Apple regarding the functionality (and
if unclear to me, I test the functions directly in Numbers). After that
I will improve the import filter and add a mapping. Thanks to David, he
already provided a framework for adding a mapping in the import filter.
Feel free to help. ;-)

As Tor already explained: the file format specification is sadly not
public available and has to be reverse engineered - which was already
done and the filter lives now in libetonyek - see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/DLP/Libraries/libetonyek for more.

I think that the developer who did the job should write few lines about

Re: LibreOffice Help broken redirects

2015-06-09 Thread Dennis Roczek
Hi Adolfo,

… which leads me to a question: why do we keep help content for
 unsupported releases in the wiki?
Why not? Some users have to use (parallel) LibO 3.6 because the
StarOffice file format was dropped in LO4. Just for an example.

I suggest that we drop any content corresponding to any release older
that 4.4, and maintain only those pages corresponding to the Fresh and
 Still branches at a time.
At the moment we do have ~900k Pages - including redirects for all
versions (3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 - so for 9 versions).

Redirects are very cheap. (don't cost server resources)
Images are defacto not existent (not many, all small).

And 900k pages are not very much for Mediawiki. Moreover as Robinson
already said that there are some companies providing long term support
for old versions.

LibreOffice Help broken redirects

2015-05-31 Thread Dennis Roczek

Hi *,

I have just updated the help wiki (help.libreoffcie.org) to mediawiki
1.24 and did made some small test if everything works correctly.

I notice that there are round about 80 broken redirects included, see
https://help.libreoffice.org/index.php?title=Special:BrokenRedirectslimit=500offset=0
-- mainly to 3.6 (so no urgent I guess).

I guess that is not intended, but I would like to see that fixed. Any ideas?

Fwd: [build issue] how to generate project file for Visual Studio 2013?

2014-06-17 Thread Dennis Roczek

Hi devs,

Yonggang Chen has a problem with generating the project files in Visual
Studio. Sadly his mail is blocked by a mail filter, see following answer
email he is getting and send to me:

Your mail to 'LibreOffice' with the subject

RE: [build issue] generate project file

Is being held until the list moderator can review it for approval.

The reason it is being held:

The message headers matched a filter rule

@cloph/awerner can you check the mail filter what went wrong?
@all can somebody help Chen how to generate the files as I have no clue.
(see attached original mail)

2013?
Datum: Tue, 17 Jun 2014 16:23:03 +0800
Von:Yonggang Chen cyghoaenn...@hotmail.com

Hello professionals,

I'm stuck here on how to generate project file for Visual Studio 2013,
and the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn3Ct...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn3CtIrMpIAhd=1 on the site
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/D...
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/BuildingOnWindows
helped me a little, I just saw how they work in Visual Studio 2013, but
i'm wondering how they generate the project file?

Because I did everything on Windows and know nothing about Linux , Mac
or Android, so I need your help here. Indeed, I had spent 95 days here,
it almost made me mad. The LibreOffice project is really a huge beast to
generate project file for Visual Studio 2013...sigh any help will
greatly be appreciated~

PS: I got the source code here git clone
git://anongit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core

Best regards

Yonggang Chen
