Educational Values of Libreoffice: Option of Encryption

2013-09-08 Thread Randolph D.
Hi

after all the programs of Prism, Bullrun, Tempora, Mics, etc as well the
communities state, that small and medium companies have not the tools in
their office suites, to be able to encrypt - while 50 % of the companies
use or provide already encryption in their office suites.

Therefore I want to suggest to add an out-of-the box encrypting messenger
to the Libre Office Suite:

http://goldbug.sf.net

it is a small tiny easy to use tool to encrypt messaging and it has an
email client integrated too. Can libreoffice add it to the suite of bureau
tools?

Or what else can Libreoffice help to provide encryption for the documents
created in libreoffice? There should be some participation in the
protection of users, data and documents created in libreoffice.

Adding the browser to Libreoffice

2012-11-08 Thread Randolph D.
Dear all,
after some talks with some board members, the request rised to include more
members and developers in the idea of adding a browser to Libreoffice.
We know this needs time and work, but would not be impossible to add it to
the installer and create a place to be for it, and see, how the community
reacts to it and requests more interaction. This security orientated webkit
browser would be a good codebasis for that:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dooble/
Any pro or cons from anyone? No person in the office works today without
the internet, the consequence is, an office suite needs or could provide an
open source browser. Anyone interested to test or join the idea or
recommendations for the steps to plan?

So for that, we should first decide
 on what LibreOffice4 will mean.

  Summary:
 - it needs to be said what we expect from LibreOffice4
 - the wiki page with technical tasks needs to be cleaned up
 - we need to decide how to deal with the fact that LO4 will break backwards
 compatibility

For me the 4 Version would be different from other versions, if the
office suite includes a browser and a messenger
http://interface.sf.net and http://dooble.sf.net

Like MS Office 360 has Skype and Cloud.

skype for office and interface chat for libreoffice

2012-07-17 Thread Randolph D.
Hi there

as MS Office will have in 6 months an Instant Messenger (Skype)
integrated in the office suite, I suggest that Libreoffice adds an
Instant Messenger and Browser too:
http://interface.sf.net is the open source social network and chat
messenger in a browser. that could be a good idea to be added to the
libreoffice installer.
anyone interested in evaluating this?

Re: skype for office and interface chat for libreoffice

2012-07-17 Thread Randolph D.
telepathy is a great framework, three years ago six students applied
for GSOC to put the interface chat protocol into d-bus and/or pidgin.
they were not selected, as the big financiers have no interest in
serverless protocols.
if libreoffice is free or openoffice needs some alternative to the
standards, choose THE standard in serverless messaging.
this is the mentioned app. So no, I have no skills to code the
protocol into d-bus, I just can tell you that the offered package of a
browser and serverless messanger is a quite nice app to add to the
libreoffice suite. So my input was about tickering over text chat and
not remote writing into cells of calc.
thunderbird got outsourced and the main big task users wanted was:
integrate instandbird, to have messaging next to email. they let pass
the chance and now even thunderbird has stopped development.
Lotus Email has Sametime Messaging. MS Office has Skype Messaging. and
Open Office and /or Libre Office should add http://interface.sf.net -
as it is serverless and maintenance free messaging. - a Qt c++ tab
plugin in any Qt frame, currently in the security browser dooble web
browser. Something a office suite should add as well.

 hello Randolph,

there is currently an ongoing project to add support for collaborative
editing with Telepathy to Calc, with a GSoC student working on it; if
you are interested in working on this area, perhaps you want to join forces?

InterFace - New Open Source Social Network as Chat Messenger Addon for
Web Browser Dooble

InterFace 1.2.0 has been released. This is the first initial christmas release.
InterFace is a new open source social network with an Instant Chat Messenger.
You can install and test it with Friends as an Addon for the Dooble
Web Browser http:/dooble.sf.net .
It features IRC-Like Groupchat, Email Messages, a Forum Board and
personal 1:1-Chat.
A Event-Wall shows with a timeline any new event happening.
To connect with a friend, both friends need to exchange and enter
their Messenger-Key.
New friends can as well picked up from the social network over the
context menu.
That makes InterFace a preferred Social Network for groups like school
classes or university course students to find
new friends on the campus within their Friends of Friends. Due to the
open source character of the social network
InterFace.sf.net there is no tracking of users as in other services.
The communication is encrypted by default.
The roadmap foresees for the upcoming next release to be able to play
online chess with friends listed in the
messengerĀ“s friends list. Dooble Web Browser allows to start the
integrated InterFace Chat Messenger within every
Session from the Addons-Menu. Users define, to chat in a pop-Up window
or within a tab of the browser. While surfing
within the browser, new arrival of chat messages are highlighting.
InterFace has been released for several Operating Systems: Windows,
Linux, Fedora, Mandriva, OpenSuse, Ubuntu. Mac OSX
is scheduled. It is written in c++ and uses the Qt lib-rs Framework.
The Addon is installed into the environment of
the Dooble Web browser.
