I confirmed that it is indeed resolved using version LibreOffice 3.4.3
OOO340m1 (Build:302) on Win7/32b. I changed the status to resolved.

My apologies for not finding the duplicate and not checking the most recent
version (which has had such a rapid release cycle compared to my past
experience with OOo)

of what is displayed and a reference image. Note that the partial image is
also what is sent to the printer.

Which LibreOffice locale is set? This looks like a collation issue.
 Check here:
Tools → Options... → LanguageSettings → Languages → Locale Setting

I tried it on 2 machines and 3 instances. The error exists in each setting:

1. LibreOffice 3.3.4 default - Hungarian (on Ubuntu Linux)

2. OpenOffice 3.2.0 default - English (USA) (on Ubuntu Linux)

3. LibreOffice 3.4.3 default - Hungarian or default - English (USA) (on

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41078] New: --convert-to command line parameter does not work in Windows

2011-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41078

Summary: --convert-to command line parameter does not work in
Windows
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.3 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: osav...@uklinux.net

We have a requirement to convert XLSX files into CSV as and when they arrive.
We would like to automate this by using the command line options of
LibreOffice. However, some don't appear to work and some seem to interfere with
others.

This is the command line we would like to get functioning:

Program Files\LibreOffice 3.4\program\soffice.exe --headless --convert-to
CSV Subject 1 university raw data.xlsx

(The equivalent in Linux, /opt/libreoffice3.4/program/soffice --headless
--convert-to csv Subject\ 1\ university\ raw\ data.xlsx, does work.)

This is not a path issue since Program Files\LibreOffice
3.4\program\soffice.exe runs LibreOffice and Program Files\LibreOffice
3.4\program\soffice.exe Subject 1 university raw data.xlsx runs LibreOffice
and loads the spreadsheet.

We did notice that Program Files\LibreOffice 3.4\program\soffice.exe
--headless Subject 1 university raw data.xlsx returned immediately whereas on
Linux LibreOffice does not appear but the command line does not return either
and has to be CtrlC'd out.

Microsoft Word opens the file in a matter of seconds. How it looks like is

I'm modifying a template from a buddy. The text box is now white, so I had to

The file you posted was made with LibreOffice 3.4.1.
That version apparently had the bug in it.
Ugrade your version of LibreOffice to the most recent 3.4, i.e. 3.4.3.
Any new Flat ODG files should now be saved correctly.

How exactly do you expect LibreOffice to be able to automagically correct the
files which have the wrong mimetype ? This simply will not happen (or at least
I am unaware of any magic that will). If you want to correct the errors in
 your
existing files, then you will have to correct them all by hand according to
 the
 hints given by Rainer.

Cannot see the request for retrospective correction.

What will be done for the future, and _possibly_ backported to LibO 3.4.4, is
the correction that Rainer has indicated so that any new Flat ODG files
 written
with 3.4.4 will have the correct mimetype. I say possibly backported to 3.4.4
because that decision is for the developers to decide. Look at the release
 page
to see when the next versions of LibO are expected to be released :

This is confusing; it is stated that upgrade should be performed to 343, but
then only possibly fixed in version 344. Excuse my ignorance of the term
backport, to be clear:

In versions 341 and 342, this bug occurs?

In version 343 this bug will not occur?

In version 344 this bug will not occur?

then only possibly fixed in version 344. Excuse my ignorance of the term
 backport, to be clear:

In versions 341 and 342, this bug occurs?

I quote Rainer :
That mimetype bug was in 3.4.0 ... 3.4.2 (AFAIK for all OS, and so I doubt
that
reporter's Version info is correct) and has been fixed

In version 343 this bug will not occur?

No.

In version 344 this bug will not occur?

You can ignore my comment #39 about the fixing for 3.4.4, I made that before
checking (on Mac OSX) that the problem did not occur in 3.4.3. The problem
shouldn't appear in 3.4.4 or 3.4.5 either, but it might, who knows, the source
code gets modified everyday and little things like this can occur.

You can reopen the bug as many times as you want, but no one will do anything
about it unless you can show that the bug also occurs with a fresh file in
3.4.3 on your OS/arch.

I can confirm that I am having the same problem with LibreOffice in Linux Mint
LMDE. I had the problem with all three of the following: Installed version of
LibreOffice from the distro; version 3.3.4 downloaded from
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/; version 3.4.3, also downloaded and
extracted.
Crash and function is variable. The program will boot, but the X will crash and
I get kicked out to a login prompt. Sometimes it will simply hang the system
and require a hard reset.
Did not have the problem with Ubuntu 10.04.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39179] FileOpen: Writer takes very long to open a docx file

2011-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39179

--- Comment #9 from Astrix marais.han...@gmail.com 2011-09-21 13:46:55 PDT ---
(In reply to comment #8)
Problem tested and confirmed with LibreOffice 3.4.3 (OOO340m1 (Build:302))
running on MacOS X 10.6.8, German, on a MacBook Pro with 2.53 GHz Intel Core
i5, 4 GB RAM and Solid State Hard Drive. I mention the hardware data because
the times LibreOffice needs to open your documents are a bit shorter for me,
but they are still far too long. In detail:

 1) The large 1.5 mb docx file which opens quickly (AJ Marais Research
Proposal.docx) opens in less than 5 seconds for me -- fine! (But note that
 when
closing the document again, just so, without any changes etc., LibreOffice
crashes -- this is Bug 39510, I think.)

 2) The shorter 50 page docx document (Chapter 3 draft 1.docx) needs about 60
seconds to open, while LibreOffice uses 95% of the CPU all the time
 (measured
with the top command in the shell). Far too long.

 3) The long 119 page docx file (Volledige dokument.docx) needs about 3
minutes and 5 seconds to open, while LibreOffice uses 97% of the CPU all the
time (again measured with the top command in the shell). Far too long again.

Thank you, I have commented at bug 39510 that these two bugs could be related
to that one another.

When exporting a file as pdf via File Export as PDF, on the security tab
one can set passwords for either opening and rights.

After chossing the rights button, one has to enter the password twice
(verification).
In the first line, umlauts such as ä,ö,ü are NOT accepted.
In the second line they are accepted!

Umlauts should generally be accepted.

This dual version seems confusing. Just tested this scenario using 334 and bug
does not occur.

Assuming 34 is later than 33, why would the programmers change the mime type?

Personally, would prefer that the web site shows only 33 as stable for general
use, with a separate page for 34, 35, etc. for those interested in testing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41100] New: After saving as .csv, unexpected behaviour causes silent data loss

2011-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41100

Summary: After saving as .csv, unexpected behaviour causes
silent data loss
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.3 release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: freedesktop@timsk.org

When saving a spreadsheet as a .csv, the user is warned that only the current
sheet is being saved. That's a useful warning.

However, if the currently open spreadsheet contains more than one sheet, the
following behaviour is unexpected and destructive.

Say I have saved Sheet1 as MySheet1.csv. In my still-open spreadsheet, I go
over to Sheet2, change something, and hit ctrl-S. The contents of my file
MySheet1.csv are OVERWRITTEN with the data from Sheet2. I have lost the saved
copy of Sheet1.

Each time I hit ctrl-S, the current sheet is saved as MySheet1.csv, but the
still-open spreadsheet is marked as Saved, and can be closed without any
warning about data loss.

Speaking of data loss, it's about 30 to 40 edits over four days, in my case
just now. :o(

There are actually two problems here:
 (1) Hitting ctrl-S should not be allowed to overwrite a saved copy of one
sheet with data from another sheet.
 (2) The still-open document should be marked as modified, not saved,
unless *all* parts of it have been successfully saved since the last edit.
