--- Comment #2 from Rainer Bielefeld
2011-11-13 23:26:12 PST ---
I have some difficulties to understand what problem we are talking about.
Editing? Viewing? Export?
I see no new problem with Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7
Home Premium (64bit) German UI [(Build ID:
6b0de40-0bc4ff4-ca7e6f5-9125509-ce71330)]" (11).

My steps how to reproduce:
1. open "Untitled 1.odt"
2. delete all pictures except the most top one
3. Click the remaining picture (control points appear)
4.
5. click somewhere into the document
6. (control points appear
7. Drag and drop new picture below old one
(now you see twins pictures, control points still visible)
8. Move mouse pointer to middle bottom control point (mouse pointer view
changes
   to "resize")
9. press Shift key and drag/drop middle bottom control point down until picture
fills complete document width, then release shift and mouse button
10. Compare pictures

I can't see anything unexpected, of course the rectangles border lines of the
rectangles become thicker, the ratio of border line width to rectangle diameter
remains, that's expected and something completely different from editing a
rectangle (not a picture containing rectangles).

@rk...@yahoo.com
Please see "mysample.odt", the operation you did is the same as case 1 in that
document, not case 2

What has the PDF export to do with the supposed resize problems?

If there is a problem, do you really see it as a new problem in Master or is it
already visible in earlier versions?

Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (and if possible how to created a
  sample document from the scratch)
- add information
  -- what EXACTLY is unexpected
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

An example of current ( incorrect ) behavior - reverse color is setup by
conditional formatting.

Problem description: Conditional formatting incorrectly displays background
cell's color.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Assign a text value to a cell e.g. "success"
2. Select a column
3. From menu choose:
   Format > Conditional Formating
Set Tick box "Condition 1" = "on"
Set "Cell value is" "equal to" = "success"
Create a new style "green" which has green color as a background.

Current behavior:
Background of all cells in the selected column, but cells = "success" are set

Hi,

Your document demonstrates various problems with common subject
"gradient/transparency", but very different manifestations and roots. As
I told you several times when you posted again and again the various
elements of your sample document in various reports, it is important to
submit different reports for different problems.

> Maybe you didn't see exactly what the problem is:

You are wrong. I see all the problems demonstrated in your documents
very clear. Some of the problems have already been fixed in Master some
are in the fixing process, only the geometry problem is a new one that
hadn't been reported until now. So I stripped away all known problems
and left the relevant new one.

Effect is reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.4.4 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
German UI [OOO340m1 (Build:402)]", but I doubt that it's a bug.

CSV means "Comma Separated Values", not "Comma Separated Formulas". Formula
information always will be lost, also for correct formulas. If you have a
spreadsheet cell containing (a formula) equals followed by 1000 lines Lorem
Ipsum text as a cell contents, result.csv will only contain "Err:509" in the
cell, not the Lorem Ipsum novel. That's intended.

So I need some help to understand where the problem that can be fixed might be.

Please

- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem; not simply "open", for a .csv you
also have to contribute filter information (although it might be irrelevant
  for the problem).
- add information
  -- what exactly is unexpected
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
–- If you can contribute an OOo Issue that might be useful

@webmeis...@axteleats.com
Contents can be checked easily in various ways.

1. Enable Value Highlighting in Menu 'View' (or press Cells Numbers. You will find
"Standard" for A3:A4, but "Text" for A5:A12
3. Insert formula "=sum(A3)" into B3 (shows value "4") and fill B3 to B4:B12
using Menu 'Edit -> fill -> Down'. You will find values from A in B4, B5,
but
"0" in B5:B12, what shows that number value of eqch cell contents in A5:A12
   is "0", because it's a text.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39659] Java 1.7.0 not recognised

2011-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39659

--- Comment #29 from V Stuart Foote 2011-11-13
19:18:02 PST ---
Can confirm. Continuing inability of LibreOffice 3.4.4 (build 402) to detect
presence of JRE when only Java 1.7u01 32-bit is present on Windows 7 sp1
64-bit.

On a working installation of LibreOffce 3.4.4, removal of JRE 1.6uXX, deletion
of javaSettings_Windows_x86.xml configuration, and installation of JRE 1.7u01

Creation of javaSettings_Windows_x86.xml (and presumably
javaSettings_Linux_x86.xml) is NOT being populated with Java instance details
for JRE 1.7u01

In Windows, the
%APPDATA%\Roaming\LibreOffice\3\user\config\javaSettings_Windows_x86.xml is
created when a Tools > LibreOffice > Java check box is made to "Use a Java
Runtime Environment".

However, it contains an empyt template:

http://openoffice.org/2004/java/framework/1.0";
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";>

Using the Add... button of the Java Options GUI and manually selecting the
java\jre7\bin installation directory returns error:

LibreOffice 3.4--The folder you selected does not contain a Java runtime
environment. Please select a different folder.

Yet if JRE 1.6uXX is present, when Java Options GUI is open and the a fully
populated javaSettings_Windows_x86.xml is created as soon as the check box to
use a Java JRE is made. Here is an example of the generated XML:

xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";>

This was with a working LibreOffice 3.4.4 installation made with a 1.6u29 JRE
that had been updated. Others on user forum have reported inability to install
when JRE 1.7u01 present.

2011-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42893

 Bug #: 42893
   Summary: [EDITING] [ProposedEasyHack] Improve Autocorrect:
Capitalize first letter of sentence
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor

ReportedBy: ryan.jendo...@gmail.com

In addition to the issue identified in
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35515, there are other instances
where the Capitalize first letter of every sentence option is more trouble than
it's worth.

The 'start of sentence detection' should be improved to recognise the following
for what they are, and therefore not perform any capitalization:

1. Common contractions, e.g. "esp." for "especially", "incl." for "including",
"temp." for "temporary", "e.g.", "i.e.", etc.

2. Things which are clearly acronyms, e.g. "U.S.", "Y.M.C.A.", etc. In regex
terms I'd imagine the pattern to be /([a-zA-Z]\.){2,}/, i.e., any two or more
occurrences of a letter followed by a period.

You could make a judgment call about whether you wanted to limit it to capital
letters. On the plus side you're more likely to be looking at something really
intended as an acronym, but on the negative site I often use acronyms like
"w.r.t." for "with regard to", and suchlike. This might matter more if you
thought "e.g." and "i.e." are more accurately classed as acronyms than
contractions; I'm not sure the conceptual distinction would make a difference
here in practice.

3. Did you spot the 'intentional mistake' in number 1. above? :-) The case
where a contraction or acronym falls at the end of a sentence is tricky. Some
cursory research ([1],[2]) confirms that in these situations the correct thing
to do is to have only one period, which 'does double duty', both indicating the
shortening and ending the sentence.

Therefore, in these situations LO would probably miss the new sentence and not
be able to capitalize. However, both ending sentences with acronyms and
(hopefully) the occurrence of people forgetting to capitalize are pretty rare,
so I'd vote to suffer this possible intermittent inconvenience in order to have
the benefit which 1. and 2. above would bring.

As a pie-in-the-sky concept, I guess it'd be possible to do some heuristics
using the grammar engine to determine if the writer probably intended to finish
the sentence at a certain point, but that seems like a disproportionate amount
of effort.

Localization issues
---
/[a-zA-Z]/ is Unicode-unfriendly for a start. I can't remember if LO's regex
engine supports Unicode-aware character entities like [[:alpha:]]: if it does,
we can use them; if it doesn't, that's another bug report :p

In addition, it's likely that all the rules above would have to be
language-contingent. The possible scope of this might be taking us outside the
realms of an EasyHack, but it should be possible to lay the groundwork easily
enough.

Confirmed w/LO 3.4.4 (linux - deb build):
LibreOffice 3.4.4
OOO340m1 (Build:402)

Works w/LO 3.3.4 (linux - deb build):
LibreOffice 3.3.4
OOO330m19 (Build:401)
tag libreoffice-3.3.4.

So this appears to be a another regression between 3.3.4 and 3.4.x.

@Rainer Bielfeld: I don't understand why you truncated my test file. Moreover,
why did you change my title? With my old title 'problems with transparency
gradient in presentation mode', every slide of my test file was relevant,
especially the first one, which exactly repeat the procedure described in
comment 0. Please note that the problem is more than just a geometrical one.

Maybe you didn't see exactly what the problem is: when you run the first slide
of my file in presentation mode, the screen will be black for few seconds, but
if you wait a little (the rendering process takes some time), you will see the
relevance of this slide !

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42884] New: "allow macros" dialog raised to top *several* times

2011-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42884

 Bug #: 42884
Summary: "allow macros" dialog raised to top *several* times
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: lio...@mamane.lu

I'm using Debian GNU/Linux, and libreoffice uses GTK.

The "allow macros" dialog (shown in macro security mode medium when opening a
document with macros) grabs focus several times. Grabbing the focus even *once*
is debatable (really, the window manager should decide), but doing it several
times is really overboard and annoys the user: if libreoffice is slow, the
dialog grabs focus, the user switches focus to another window, the same dialog
grabs focus *again*, and this cycle is repeated several times.

To observe this, one has to switch away focus from the dialog faster than it
regrabs it; the easiest way to do that is to slow down LibreOffice, for example
by running it over a slow network connection. The upload of an ADSL line is
about right for this test. Alternatively, one can set a breakpoint on
GtkSalFrame::ToTop, and each time the breakpoint is hit, give focus to another
window, then let LO continue executing.

In a multiple workspace scenario, interspersed with the "grabbing focus and
raising to top", the dialog also switches from the current workspace to the
workspace the document window is in and vice-versa.

Further testing shows that LO will raise the dialog each time the user switches
to the workspace that contains it or to the workspace that contains the
document window, so this can go on indefinitely.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42882] New: SVG Re-size Image Error

2011-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42882

 Bug #: 42882
   Summary: SVG Re-size Image Error
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: rk...@yahoo.com

Created attachment 53482
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=53482
Re-size SVG Error Test-Kit

When an SVG picture is re-sized within LibreOffice WRITER then the SVG image
renders incorrectly. Please see the "Untitled 1.pdf" and "Untitled 2.pdf"
files. Notice that the line width of the boxes becomes thicker when the SVG
picture is re-sized. This should not happen with SVG pictures.

As an example, we tested the desired functionality in the Master:

LibO-dev 3.5.0
Build ID: a7553b2-533e3c6-ca7e6f5-9125509
On OSX 10.6.8

Located at:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/MacOSX_10.6.7_Intel_no-moz/master/2011-11-13_01.04.10/

with

master~2011-11-13_01.04.10_LibO-Dev_OOO350m1_MacOS_x86_install_en-US.dmg

Steps to reproduce:

1. Use a Web browser or Graphic Editor to find and save an SVG picture.
2. Open a new WRITER Text Document
3. Select Insert -> Picture -> From File... (We inserted
layer_1.svg, layer_2.svg, and layer_3.svg)
4. Click on an SVG picture (for example, layer_1.svg) and re-size the picture.
5. Select File -> Export as PDF
6. Keep the default settings then click Export (see the PDF files).

Expected results: SVG image will retain its functionality and will re-size
correctly, etc.

Actual results: SVG image re-sizes incorrectly; the five pixel width line
around the boxes become thicker.

See attachment for sample documents.

Please also note that the SVG images are not scalable within the generated PDF
files; they become bit-mapped images.

I haven't tested different cases, but when I have 3 windows open with different
sizes/shapes and positions, close LibO, and reopen via Finder on the same 2
files, The files all seem to have the same size/shape as the last one to close
(which, in this case, prompted to save after the others were closed) with a
different one of them in the same position as the last closed (in this case the
lower right) and the other two on top of eachother in a different position (at
the upper left, which puts the upper-left corner of each in the same place as
when closed).

This is more or less a DUP of "Bug 34460 - FORMATTING, Capitalize Every Word",
where the reporter was happy with the "workaround" that it works if you press.
F2 on a cell and then mark complete cell contents. But that is not intended.

Was already [Reproducible] with "LibreOffice Portable 3.3.3 - WIN7 Home
Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:301 Tag 3.3.3.1)]", probably
inherited from OOo (OOo 3.3 has the same problem, in 3.1.1 this feature did not
exist).

Works for me with Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home
Premium (64bit) German UI [(Build ID:
6b0de40-0bc4ff4-ca7e6f5-9125509-ce71330)]" (11), so WFM target:3.5.0

Not a valid Bug report!

@reporter:
May I ask you to read hints on
carefully?
Then please:
- Write a meaningful Summary
- Attach a sample document (not only screenshot)
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (and if possible how to created a
  sample document from the scratch)
- add information
  -- what exactly is unexpected
-- and why do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
-- concerning your PC (especially: video card)
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your EXACT LibO version and localization (UI language)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems

-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document

I note from a separate problem discussion from earlier this year that a LibO
person commented that there are no LibO Base personnel currently working. Is
this true? If it is then it's disappointing (& very frustrating). I was hoping
to do some significant development work using this product, but I'm hitting so
many problems it looks like I'll have to give up (and go back to MS Access), if
I can't get any help with them.

--- Comment #3 from Rainer Bielefeld

I believe explains
clearly how UI language installation works ("English and the language of your
operating system are selected by default."), so I do not see a bigger problem
concerning available UI Languages. I doubt that there is a general interest in
always installing all delivered UI languages, if you want, you can submit an
Enhancement request for that, but I doubt that that would be integrated. I
would resist.

To be honest, I do not know how Installer decides what "language of your
operating system" might be, but I believe it's the sold version and not the
actual selected OS UI language. I think that should be appropriate for 99,9 %
of all users. If you see a bigger interest in a more elaborated OS Language
detection feature, you should submit a separate enhancement request.

So the remaining problem might be "User can't preselect default UI language
(with what LibO wil start when launched the first time) during installation.
For this one I see (little) need (although also IMHO appropriate for 99,9 % of
all users), and it might have Accessibility impact.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 35830] International build not international enough!

2011-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35830

--- Comment #2 from kyri...@alumni.princeton.edu 2011-11-13 07:39:35 PST ---
I believe that all I've written boils down to the following: Please make the
LibO installer ask the user which of the supported UIs they want to use. The
installer should also install all supported UIs, instead of trying to guess
which UIs to install, based on the current locale, the version of Windows used
(English, German, etc.) and/or the previous installation.

Regarding providing more specific details, I'm afraid I can't help you. I
reported this bug eight months ago for a friend, using information he'd given
me at the time. At this point, all I can do is summarize what I've already
written:

* My friend installed LibO under German Windows and got a German UI, even
though he did not want it. (He probably could have switched to English from the
LibO options, though.)
* Trying to reproduce this, I switched my locale from Greek to German and
reinstalled LibO on top of my US English Windows/Greek locale installation. I
got the English UI that I had before, instead of German, and when I went to
change the UI from the LibO options, German was not available; only English and
Greek.

I think you have summarized the problem quite precisely, when you said that
"it's difficult to predict with what UI language LibO will start when you have
installed more than 1 UI language", to which I will add that it is also
difficult to predict *which* UI languages will get installed.

Since then, my friend has gone back to OpenOffice 3.2, from which he refuses to
budge.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 40359] Crash when selecting Language Settings->Languages

--- Comment #24 from kyri...@alumni.princeton.edu 2011-11-13 07:03:09 PST ---
I have seen the problem on two systems:

System 1:
Processor: Intel E8600 @ 3.33 GHz
Ram: 4 GB (3.25 GB visible by the OS)
Video card: nVidia GeForce 9600 GT
Localization: Greek Locale(*) in US English version of Windows XP. US English
version of LibreOffice installed, with US English UI and help files.
Libo settings that might be related to your problems (video hardware
acceleration ...): I didn't even know there is such an option in LibO. Presume
I have the default. Hardware acceleration for Windows XP is set to full.
how you launch LibO: I use shortcuts for "LibreOffice Calc" and "LibreOffice
Writer" on my desktop, copied from the start menu.

System 2:
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 @ 3 GHz
Ram: 2 GB.
Video card: nVidia GeForce 6200
Localization: Greek Locale(*) in US English version of Windows XP. US English
version of LibreOffice installed, with US English UI and help files.
Libo settings that might be related to your problems (video hardware
acceleration ...): I didn't even know there is such an option in LibO. Presume
I have the default. Hardware acceleration for Windows XP is set to full.
how you launch LibO: I use shortcuts for "LibreOffice Calc" and "LibreOffice
Writer" on my desktop, copied from the start menu.

(*) In the Regional and Language Options control panel:
Regional Options tab:
  Standards and Formats: Greek
  Location: Greece
Languages tab:
  Text services and input languages:
Details:
Default input language: English (United States) - US
  Installed services: EN and EL
Advanced tab:
Language version of non-Unicode programs: Greek

I tried a parallel install on System 1. The problem persists. (Ditto for bug
40585, which seems to be related.) If you've read through this thread, I had
already tried doing a full uninstall with Revo uninstaller, before
reinstalling, and there was no change after reinstalling.

I have also tried running LibO in safe mode, to see if there was interference
from some other installed program, but I still get crashes. I think that the
only thing that was left activated was my use of X-Mouse (configured using
TweakUI), but deactivating it didn't help, either.

The problem is not present in version 3.3, so this is definitely a regression.
It was also present in an earlier version of 3.5, that I tried a while back.

I know that at least two people (you and manj_k) cannot reproduce this problem,
but since I've seen it on both my home and work computers, I am convinced that
the problem is quite real, so I don;t thing that "works for me" is a
satisfactory answer. Please help me to help you: we know we have two systems
(mine) on which the bug can be consistently reproduced, so how can we take
advantage of this? Is there a way to produce stack traces, e.g.? I'd even be
willing to build a debug version of LibO, if there is no other way to produce
stack traces.

If this bug is indeed related to bug 40585, where someone, who had encountered
it on Linux, was able to fix it by installing a newer version of ICU, could it
be that I need to install a newer version of some localization library by hand?
Both my systems are fully patched, as far as windows update goes, but I might
be missing something else.

This is a side-effect of how oo.org issue i#99971
(https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=99971) was fixed (commit
23740dc4a7e81c8c5129e26fe579cf81363d6388).

>From a Unix/X11-centric POV, it should be completely reverted, but that will
get Microsoft Windows users in arms, so we need a more precise fix for this
bug.

Setting preference
org.openoffice.Office.Common/View/NewDocumentHandling/ForceFocusAndToFront to
false fixes this bug (on X11/GNU/Linux). On X11, it also does not reintroduce
i#99971. OTOH, as far is I understand, this would reintroduce i#99971 on MS
Windows.

So, I intend to:

1) Make all/most the "steal focus" behaviour happen only on Microsoft Windows,
and possibly other platforms that need it, but not on Unix/X11.

2) To fix this bug on MS Windows, too, make showPreview somehow block the
effect of ForceFocusAndToFront.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42405] toolbars may become irrevocably locked in place

2011-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon

My experience:
Yes, I'm quite sure, only toolbars of user-installed extensions.

Default toolbars, adjusted toolbars (Tools > Customize > Toolbars ...) and
user-created toolbars (Tools > Customize > Toolbars > New) are not affected.

Now, looking a little more concentrated, I also see the problem with 3.4.4 for

Can we summarize that really ONLY user toolbars of user installed Extensions

Yes, it's a permanent problem and yes, just like manj_k points out, it happens
all of a sudden. You just notice once that some toolbars are unmovable.

Just my guess after looking in the user configs, it *might* be caused by
running different language builds, KeyID included. Then again, it might not.

I'll keep mine toolbars in this condition for a while, in case some
investigation'd be needed.

For me: all toolbars of user-installed extensions have been affected by this
behavior. That issue doesn't occur with the first restart after having added
the extension(s); there is nothing the matter for a while.

When the issue has cropped up (apparently causeless), then it is a permanent
problem (the little handles of the toolbar are missing).

A workaround: disable the affected extension - restart LibO - enable the
extension again - restart LibO - drag the toolbar to the intended place.

I've applied this workaround just now in LibO 3.4.4 release, and these toolbars
now are unlocked and movable. I'll observe the extension toolbars for a while
...

To reproduce the bug simply open "Test_new344.odp", start presentation and
compare pictures with "So it looked in Edit mode", you will see strange
differences.

Related or not? copy /paste as Bitmap also shows strange gradient geometry
modifications, but mostly different from those visible in presentation mode

Hi Lionel,

My comment #12 was probably incorrect in that it appeared to me that the
DataView window had disappeared because it positioned itself at the same
coordinates behind the main window.

This is why I was led to believe that the DataView window closed itself after
opening.

It was only when I opened several tables in a row that I noticed that the
windows were superpositioned with a slight delta in the window coordinates.

Also, my comments aren't in chronological order because when I posted them, the
bugzilla machines had their daylight saving time adjusted so my comments
appeared to have been made an hour before they actually were, which of course
screwed up the order of comments.

>From my point of view, I don't think that the window closing behaviour exists.

Lionel:
thanks for picking up this bug. I read bug 42612, and it seems to me it is
indeed a duplicate of this one. With preview disabled my tables open in the
foreground as expected, and I already suspected a later event to the main
window returns the foceus to this one but didn't think of the preview pane (why
should it be redrawn, anyway?).

I already wondered why nobody else seemed to be able to reproduce it. For me it
happens on Linux and Windows, in all versions from 3.3.0 up to 3.4.4. Oddly
enough, this did not happen with a newly created database but with all
production databases in use (using a sqliteodbc backend), but now I see new
databases are created with preview disabled - that explains it.
