[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43619] New: Animating only 2nd level paragraphs hides 1st level paragraphs

2011-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43619

 Bug #: 43619
Summary: Animating only 2nd level paragraphs hides 1st level
paragraphs
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4 Daily
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: sberg...@redhat.com

Created attachment 54217
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=54217
sample document

See the attached fly.odp with a text box with three 1st level paragraphs (Foo,
Bar, Baz) with one 2nd level paragraph each (First, Second, Third), with an
on-click animation (fly in) grouped By 2nd level paragraphs (see context menu
of any of the items in the Tasks pane's Custom Animation - Effect Fly In
list, Effect Options... - Text Animation - Group text).

When doing the slide show, the individual 1st and 2nd level paragraphs
correctly fly in one by one (Foo; First; Bar; Second; Baz; Third).

Now, remove the effect for each of the 1st level paragraphs (Foo, Bar, Baz),
via the items' context menu Remove. When doing the slide show, the first 1st
level paragraph (Foo) is correctly displayed right from the start, and the
individual 2nd level paragraphs correctly fly in one by one (First; Second;
Third), but the remaining two 1st level paragraphs (Bar, Baz) are erroneously
not displayed at all.

Also, after removing all the 1st level paragraphs' effects, the grouping of the
remaining 2nd level paragraphs (as stated at Effect Options... - Text
Animation -Group Text) changes from By 2nd level paragraphs to All
paragraphs at once. Manually changing the setting for a paragraph does not
work, after closing the Effect Options dialog it automatically goes back to
All paragraph at once.

(Reproduced with a libreoffice-3-4 build towards LO 3.4.5. On master towards
LO 3.5, this cannot currently be tested well, as doing this animated slide
show, at least in an unxlngx6 --enable-dbgutil build, soffice.bin aborts with
drawshapesubsetting.cxx's makeTreeNode calculating std::distance between
singular iterator and end; immediate problem appears to be that
maActionClassVector.begin() == maActionClassVector.end() in
DrawShapeSubsetting::getTreeNode.)

fix the (automatically selected) paragraph grouping

With the attached paralevels.patch, after removing all the 1st level
paragraphs' effects, the grouping of the remaining 2nd level paragraphs (as
stated at Effect Options... - Text Animation -Group Text) stays at By 2nd
level paragraphs and no longer automatically changes to All paragraphs at
once. Manually changing the setting for a paragraph still does not work,
however---after closing the Effect Options dialog it automatically goes back
to By 2nd level paragraphs.

(In reply to comment #1)

Workaround, select all controls in a row, then you can edit their height,
 Y-position, width together.

Obviously, once one knows what the source of the problem is, the work-around is
indeed easy. But as the source of the problem is hidden, it is quite hard to
understand the source of the problem, and thus quite hard to get to the
work-around overall.

I ran perf record on libreoffice in order to find where the execution time was
being consumed. I used a file with 3-4 EPS generated with R. This is what I
found (the full trace is on the attachment). I hope it helps.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42800] Calc crash when drag and drop a range of cells

2011-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Created attachment 54236
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=54236
Drag-and-drop crash example

I'm also seeing this issue, but not with Gianfranco's attachment 54097, so I've
attached this example which does it for me.

To reproduce:
  1) Open in Calc
  2) Select a range of cells (say D1:D2)
  3) Drag and drop with mouse (to say E1:E2)
  - All open Calc windows vanish

It doesn't seem to matter which cells are selected (D1:D2 are even empty) but
you must select more than one.

This sheet has a column of 101 formulas summing the cells to their left with
the cell above. If I delete the contents of row 101, the issue goes away, but
I can't see anything particular about that row.

If A1:C101 is copied and pasted into a new spreadsheet, that spreadsheet
exhibits the problem.

This is using 340m1 Build:402 from the standard Ubuntu repository. I'm running
AMD-64 Kubuntu 11.10 (so KDE 4.7.2).

Note the same build of Calc under x86 Windows 7 does not exhibit the problem.

There was a long discussion on the devel mailing list about his bug,
see
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2011-November/thread.html#21510

The result is that it is too specific and too complicated that nobody is
interested into debugging it right now. There are many more important bugs that
affect more people and they get higher priority and attention.

I am sorry, I lower the priority and severity. This bug can't block the
release.

You might either debug it yourself with the hints from the mailing list or you
need to pay someone who would fix it for you, or you might wait if anyone gets
interested into it from some reasons.

(In reply to comment #6)
Interesting, it works with LO-3.4.4 package from openSUSE. It does not work

I wonder if it is related to a system library that is used to parse the file
 format.

Kohei, it is strange file format. How much do we support it?

It's not a strange file format; it's an Excel-generated HTML file, disguised as
an xls file, by having an .xls extension. Well, sounds strange perhaps when
you see it written, but I've seen a plenty of files like this it's not weird to
me any more.

Since the reporter says sometimes the file opens, I would suspect it's the file
format detection code failing to detect the correct filter type, and perhaps we
are parsing the file using the wrong import filter. Just a wild guess.

Also, as I've observed in the past, our file format detection code involves a
little bit of random luck, where different candidate format types are tested,
and the first one gets selected. The thing is, we store these format types in
boost::unordered_map, and this container tends to order things differently
depending on the version of boost used to build it.

That might explain different behaviors in different distro versions of even the
same version.

But all of this is just a speculation. Someone needs to debug our format
detection code and see what really takes place there.

Have you read Leif Lodahl's blogpost about customizing MSI install?
http://lodahl.blogspot.com/2011/11/silent-installation-following-up.html
There is a workaround.

Just for completeness, this stacktrace is for the 2nd xlsx document, which we
are not dealing with in this bug report. (This btw is already fixed in 3.5.)

I still want to see the parser error output for the 1st Excel-generated HTML
document.

 Parser errors

Attached parser errors from opening the document via the terminal.

Thanks. This type of

Entity: line xx: parser error:

error message indeed comes from an external XML parser, which indicates that
the file is incorrectly parsed as an XML file.

I've seen a similar problem before, and did fix it in 3.5. The problem was
that the Excel 2003 XML file detection code was way too simple, and incorrectly
identified this type of HTML file as an Excel 2003 XML file, and proceeded with
importing it using that filter instead of using the HTML import filter.

So, I would say please try again using 3.5, and if it's still there, please
reopen this.

Here's (hopefully) a quick repair patch which just adds the HTML code
'target=_blank to the link lines.

As I'm not a developer, somebody with git knowledge should please transform
this self-generated pseudo-patch into something applicable before applying it
;-)

Maybe changing the heading from Related bug reports to Related bug reports
(new window) or similar would be nice, but I did not have the time to search
for the string.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43491] CONFIGURATION: Using existing User Profile existing WRITER documents open semi read only

Rainer Bielefeld libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW

--- Comment #1 from Rainer Bielefeld libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de
2011-12-08 10:21:36 PST ---
Still [Reproducible] with Server installation of Master LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7
Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: 485138f-e92bf75-4c1bcb5] Win-x86@6
– 2011-12-06_21:37:02).

Steps to reproduce:
0. Close all LibOs
1. Check User Profile folder. My Build created a new
   C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\LOdev\3
2. rename subfolder 3 to 3_bak
3. Copy / Paste folder 3 from 3.4.4 user profile
4. Start Libo Master! Everything seems to work fine, but I see the
   reported effect

My conclusion:
a) I do something forbidden, if yes this Bug should be closed with some hints.
But on http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile I can't see an explicit
prohibition.
b) The situation is the same as the new 3.5.0 will find when it tries to use
the
   existing User Profile from 3.4

If b) we might have a fatal bug causing update problems

But the problem does not appear when I create a fresh new profile with 3.4.4
and copy / Paste it to the profile folder of 3.5.

Further investigations shows that it's something within
registrymodifications.xcu. I attach a registrymodifications.zip, using
registrymodifications.xcu.bak (after renameing, of course everything works
fine, using registrymodifications.xcu from my old 3.4.4 profile causes the
problem.

Simply copying that registrymodifications.xcu into user profile of an other
master build reproduces the reported problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43640] New: 3.5.0 Beta0 Install Error 1606

2011-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 43640
   Summary: 3.5.0 Beta0 Install Error 1606
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Beta0
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: scottmitchellsand...@gmail.com

I have LibO 3.4.4 installed but installing 3.5 beta0 to a new folder
\LibreOffice 3.5.

While it computes space requirements, it consistently fails with this error...

Error 1606.Could not access network location
C:\Program Files\LibreOffice
3.4\share\extension\presenter-screen\help\fr\help.idxl

...but every three characters in the path are replaced with a graphical
what's-this-character box [] (except LibreOffice 3.4\share\extension and
.idxl). I figured out all of the replaced characters but guessed \fr as I
am installing that language.

LibO 3.4.4 installs OK.

Of course the corruption is present in libreoffice-3-5 branch.
New information: with a new empty presentation, the navigator dropdown list
shows a list of 12 documents named sans nom (in French) + a doc with blank
name + the doc sans nom 1.

Best regards. JBF

--- Comment #2 from Olivier Hallot olivier.hal...@documentfoundation.org

Hi

The main issue with this Easy Hack is to control the 8451 occurences of the
target string, where no automated replacement is recomended (false positives),
so the job has to be done with extreme care. No-brainer but very extensive.

My suggestion: chunks per module (e.g. basctl, basic, avmedia, etc...)

Besides a simple compilation/build, is there a way to test the results? The
occurence spans all over the application.

Advise welcome

This finally resolved it for me:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?uid=15044f=15t=41344start=0

Basically you must use something like Revo Uninstaller Free instead to
annihilate your installed LibO for good and start clean.

But I will leave this unresolved as this should not occur anyway.

If Legacy Filters are not installed, Document Converter doesn't work. It
completely fails to launch, just throwing a meaningless (that is, for normal
users) error message and jumps to the code that caused the error.

Possible solutions:
if legacy filters are not installed, disable Document Converter menu entry
or
display a meaningful error message explaining the dependency instead of just
erroring out and jumping to faulty line in code editor
or
fix Document Converter to work without legacy filters, conditionally disabling
functionality that depends on them

Some documents are a lot worse than this. PLEAS HELP! Thank you!

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:need to insert special characters (diacritical marks from
Canadian Aboriginal font to combine with letters, U+2BC)
1. This used to work in OpenOffice, and initially in LibreOffice

2. Lately, the words with the special characters and the adjecent texts
become scrambled and unreadable (after saving them, or after reopening them, or
even after pasting something) Old as well as new documents are affected, and a
lifetime of work is ruined!

3. I am using Kubuntu 11.10, previously used Ubuntu 11.10 and 11.04, the
problem occurred since then and has been getting progressively worse.

Current behavior:scrambling of Aboriginal language files

Have you read Leif Lodahl's blogpost about customizing MSI install?
 http://lodahl.blogspot.com/2011/11/silent-installation-following-up.html
 There is a workaround.

Thanks for the pointer, I had the idea of doing the same but lacked the guts to
try it out. This seems ok for a workaround.

Do you think that this will eventually be sorted out though? I definitely would
like to avoid creating some huge transform files, so many things can go wrong.
This thing is giving too much negative publicity (ie slw libreoffice) as
is (IMHO always)...

I had the opportunity to test with 2 other PC, Problem did not appear. So it
might be a problem with that particular registrymodifications.xcu, no longer
most annoying.

Example: Avery A4 L7159
before patch: page size 206.5x284.4mm (A4)
after patch: page size 210x297mm (== A4)
similar for lots of other labels.

You can't install 3.4.4 and 3.5.0 beta0 onto the same computer. 3.5.0 beta0
installer tried to remove 3.4.4 by initiating its uninstall sequence, and it
failed. Can you uninstall 3.4.4 cleanly?
