Problem description:
After downloading Libo-dev-3.5.0beta1_install_multi.msi yesterday in the
evening I installed it in a new WIN7 64bit in parallel to 3.4.4. But looking in
C:\Program Files (x86)\LOdev 3.5\program there were neither exes nor dlls.
Even all other folders were empty. The only full folder was the help folder
because I installed the German help pack too.
I installed the beta user defined with obsolete filters.

NOT reproducible with Parallel Dev-Installation of "LibreOffice 3.5.0 Beta1 -

Steps I did to reporduce:
1. Opened LibO from Desktop Icon.
2. Menu 'File -> Open - clicked both sample documents <>open
   > both documents have been opened
3. double clicked "Sprookje" in
   "Vrijheid - Gelijkwaardigheid - Verbondenheid + titel-orginal-non-edit"
4.
5. to get to end of text
6. typed 2 lines nonsense words
7. to switch to other sample
8. Deleted table of contents using context menu
9. deleted last line of document
10. typed some lines nonsense words until new page appeared
11. Reduced window size for both documents so that they are side by side on the
screen
12. switched between the documents and did some further edits.

No crash!

I do not understand "minimising so they both fit on one screen"

@dieder...@gmail.com:
For a detailed analysis we would need much more precise information. If you
still see the problem for 3.4 and want to reopen this bug (for a fix in 3.4.5),
please read hints on carefully!

Then :
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (and if possible how to created a
  sample document from the scratch)
- add information
-- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
(video hardware acceleration ...)
-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
–- If you can contribute an OOo Issue that might be useful
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts
May be you can test for submitting
bug reports?

  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Created attachment 54413

Sample ODF showing that Dropcap character style is not saved

The option Character Style (defined in Format, Paragraph, tab Drop Caps) is not
retained in ODF (saving in DOC does)

The initial letter should be in Times New Roman. Choosing from the drop list
Character Style the option Drop Caps shows the Drop Cap as expected. However
saving and reloading the document shows that this setting was not saved.

This bug is present since at least version 3.3.4 (didn't check back) and occurs
in 3.4.4 and 3.5.0Beta1

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34303] PDF export predefined destination folder

2011-12-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from Bogdan Stăncescu 2011-12-13 15:35:24
PST ---
This is an incredibly annoying bug -- I actually registered just to report this
one. I suppose most developers don't use this feature on a regular basis, or
there would certainly be more interest in fixing this, if there was more
dogfooding on this one.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43806] New: Multiple PDF import bugs

2011-12-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43806

 Bug #: 43806
   Summary: Multiple PDF import bugs
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.3.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Drawing
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: mat...@caltech.edu

Created attachment 54405
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=54405
Source SVG, with most troublesome elements removed

SVG test file is "saved as" PDF from Inkscape. PDF looks as expected in PDF
viewers (Acrobat, PDF XChange Viewer). When the PDF is opened in LODraw the
following errors occur:

1. Text rotated to 90 degrees is offset vertically by an amount which seems to
be proportional to the font size.
2. Text rotated to 45 degrees is completely mangled.
3. Line junctions convert from mitered to rounded.
(Bug 3 affects other LODraw input methods as well.)

Additionally the following properties are problematic:

4. dashed lines - dashes are lost, minor problem.
5. opacity - each object with an opacity of <100% in Inkscape results in a
separate full page size black rectangle when the resulting PDF is imported into
LODraw.
6. gradients - gradient rectangle extends to page limits.
7. pattern fill - patterns extend to page limits.

Problems 5,6, and 7 are probably all related, the PDF import just makes a mess
of this sort of object.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43804] New: Slow FILEOPEN and EDITING of ODS spreadsheet because of "Adapt row height" processing

2011-12-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43804

 Bug #: 43804
Summary: Slow FILEOPEN and EDITING of ODS spreadsheet because
of "Adapt row height" processing
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4 Daily
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: sloc...@gmail.com

I have several ODS spreadsheets that are slow to load because of the "Adapt row
height" processing stage.

Since the spreadsheet has several sheets, the slowness happens not only when I
open the files.

As I first change focus to each sheet in a file there's a significant delay
before its content is displayed.

The same delay happens if I select all ~10 sheets and apply any given change at
once (to a formula, conditional formatting, or formatting of the cells). As the
change is applied to each sheet it is followed by a delay due to the "Adapt row
height" processing.

By the way, this "adapt row height" processing happens even when the changes do
not affect the content of a cell (e.g. the size of the font), such as pasting
in all sheets unformatted text.

The most simple sheets contain one VLOOKUP function that references an external
ODS file, two SUMPROCDUT functions in a IF function and some conditional
formatting base on formulas that contain IF, OR, and AND funtions.

seems to be a trace to follow.

And of course, something in the code has changed that it crashes me nwo and did

(a) I can reproduce that. If you are not logged in from a former session, the
login form appears with "User:" and "Password". Caret should be already in
"User:" so that you can start to type immediately, but it is not.

(b) reproducible, I do not know whether there are good reasons to have that
space.

(c) has already been discussed in "Bug 42156 - BUGZILLAASSISTANT: Broken Links
on the bug report page", but the result still is not optimum?

(d) reproducible, I believe Return key should do the same as the 'Sign in'
button.

(e) reproducible

@Ed:
 - 4!
Please think about that immediately when you type "and" in the Summary! And it
seems "Sub Component" picker does not work correct for you, too? ;-)

@Loic, Korrawit:
Can you please check what can be solved with few expenses?
Remaining should be splitted to separate bug reports

2011-12-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 43799
Summary: Document Has Been Changed by Others -- Erroneous and
Repeated
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Beta0
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: scottmitchellsand...@gmail.com

I am trying out 3.5.0 beta0, and I am getting repeated and erroneous "Document
Has Been Changed by Others" errors after saving a file (with Calc).

Sometimes they eventually go away on Save Anyway or Cancel, and other times I
must kill soffice.bin instead.

The files are on my unshared desktop so should not be accessible to others.

gives newbees a horrible first impression of LibO.

@Phil Evans:
thank you very much for yor step-by-step description!

Using the steps given in Comment #14, I can’t reproduce the problem on MacOS X
10.6.8 German, with no one of the LibreOffice versions:
-- 3.4.4 with German langpack installed
-- 3.5.0 beta 0, Build-ID: ef91e38-b1d4df6-090bcba-45cf606-05891e7

So this really looks like a Linux-only problem.

--- Comment #14 from Phil Evans 2011-12-13 06:16:15 PST ---
"-- Could someone who sees the bug give a step-by-step description of how to
reproduce it? I know this is difficult and maybe not possible, but it would
help a lot ..."

c.f. "Comment 3" at the top.

However, in as much detail as I can:

* Load the presentation.
* Go to slide sorter.
* Move the mouse over any slide, and press and hold the (left) mouse button.
* Move the mouse anywhere within the slide sorter, the cursor will remain the
"circle with a line" icon.

Additionally:

* Still holding the mouse button, move the cursor outside the slide sorter
'window' (i.e. to any other part of the LO window).
* Move the mouse back into the slide sorter window. Now, when you move the
cursor to a valid place to put the slide, the cursor changes to a thumbnail of
the slde and lets you place it as want to.

Hope this helps.

Incidentally, since I filed the original report I've been updated to LO 3.4.4
(OOO340m1, build 402) and the problem persists.

Phil

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43792] New: Import filter for Microsoft Works documents does not work

2011-12-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43792

 Bug #: 43792
Summary: Import filter for Microsoft Works documents does not
work
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4 Daily
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: clive_bags...@hotmail.co.uk

The Import filter for Microsoft Works documents with the file suffix .WPS does
not work.

After entering the file name to open
and selecting from file type, "Microsoft Works *.wps"
It seems to load the document as though it had imported it and displays the
documents name in the title bar header but the document is blank.

I can open the document using Microsofts free "Word Viewer" and it's content is
there in full so it's not a matter of trying to open a document with no
content. Clicking on shows zero words, zero characters
when in fact the document should fill a single page, (in my particular case).

If I open Microsoft's Word Viewer and open the document then cut it and paste
into Libre Office I can save it and use it but it would be so nice to be able
to just open it directly into Libre Office without going through this hassle of
using two programmes to open it.

Regards

Clive Bagshaw

everything seems to work fine.

reproduce it? I know this is difficult and maybe not possible, but it would
help a lot ...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43789] New: SPELL: Option for "Check spelling as you type" needs to be selectable between LibO applications

2011-12-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43789

 Bug #: 43789
Summary: SPELL: Option for "Check spelling as you type" needs
to be selectable between LibO applications
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Linguistic component
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: edmund_ey...@hotmail.com

Using LibO on Windows XP.

There is an option under Options -> Language Settings -> Writing Aids called
"Check spelling as you type". This is extremely useful in Writer: it
highlights potential misspellings as soon as you have typed them, and you do
not have to run the spellchecker manually to find them.

However, it is a real irritation having this turned on when using Calc: many
formula names are highlighted as misspellings (since they are not real words),
and this is an application where you are much more likely to enter abbreviated
and cryptic text, which would also be highlighted. Although I have not yet
used them, I can imagine similar irritations would surface in Base and Math.

Therefore we really need the ability to set this option per application, e.g.
turned on in Writer, Draw and Impress, turned off in Calc, Base and Math (or
any other permutation, at the user's discretion). I guess one way to show this
in the Options dialog box would be still to have the set of global settings,
but then also to have under each application heading a further set of settings,
where each option could be 'on', 'off' or 'use global setting'. That would
satisfy those users who would still want just global settings for these
options.

I appreciate that there is a toolbar button to change this option, but using it
changes the global option, so you have to keep switching it on and off as you
switch between LibO applications. It would be really nice if this toolbar
button changed the setting just for the current open document, and if different
documents, even those open within the same application, could have different
settings!

Using Calc on Windows XP.

When you edit a cell's contents in-place by pressing F2, the insertion point
cursor is displayed as a blinking vertical bar. On first opening the in-place
editor, the cursor is positioned at the right-hand end of the cell's contents.
As you press the left-arrow key to move the cursor to the left, it leaves
behind a non-blinking image of itself at each inter-character point it has
visited.

A screenshot is attached showing this. In this, the leftmost vertical bar is
the real insertion point and is blinking; the others are static.

This does not happen all the time: as far as I can tell it is only while the
cursor is being moved _within_ the brackets that hold a function's arguments.

Reported by Olivier R., output of the grammar checker suggestion crashes
LibreOffice on Windows. His report:

"Set paragraph to “English USA”.
Type “Here is a abbreviation”
Right click on the blue line -> crash.

Actually, right click on any spelling mistake -> crash.

When I had Grammalecte installed, I also got this mistake:

adding C:\Program Files (x86)\LOdev 3.5\share\extensions\dict-en\pythonpath to

This is normal loading. Handling grammar checker suggestions works well under

I'm stuck. The toolbar in scalc now uses SvxFontColorExtToolBoxControl (for
background and font color) which has 'double action'(apply color as shown on
button bitmap / choose from color palettte), but:
When you select a cell, the color shown on button bitmap is updated to the
color used in the cell. I need the color shown on button bitmap to change only
when a color has been choosen from the color palette, but I can't find a way.
Neither do I know where this 'change button bitmap color' is called when you
select a cell.
SvxFontColorExtToolBoxControl::StateChanged() is called, but I can't
differentiate between a caal originating from the button itself (color chosen
from palette)and from selecting a cell.

In swriter it works (the button bitmap color is not changed when you select
text with a different color or place your cursor somewhere and the last used
color is applied to a selection when you press the (left side) button.

help and or further hints would be much appreciated!

Problem description:

If you save a text document, the value of the option "LibreOffice Writer,
General, Update link when loading" is saved together with the document. So this
value becomes a property of the document!! If you open the document again the
value of the option "LibreOffice Writer, General, Update link when loading" is
overwritten by the property of the document.

This behavior is quite irritating because I expect that a general option is not
influenced by opening a document. Furthermore especially when several documents
are opened you don't really know which value of the option is active. Also it
is not obvious if a general value for this option still exists or not.

Proposal: In order to avoid the mentioned problems the "property" could be
displayed and changed in the file property dialog. Then the option "LibreOffice
Writer, General, Update link when loading" could be used to set the initial
state of this property when creating a new file.

The need of change from rpm to generic tar.gz
LibreOffice suffer from the OO/Suse/rpm chain to spread the software but today
Debian/Ubuntu/.deb are the real path so there no more reason to provide rpm
based packaging.

I propose to return to generic tar.gz archive and let distributors to customize
with their own packaging technologies.

I found very usable the way Mozilla.org provide Firefox packaging using only a
tar.gz where you just unarchive and run direct (Distributors then provide the
specific package).

It's totally unusable for a generic people to download and run LibreOffice
because require you to -install- the rpm in case of an rpm distribution or
convert with alien and install in case of .deb based distribution or...nothing
else.

When you go to the Mozilla.org website and download Firefox you'll end up with
a tar.gz that you can just extract where you want and start there.Thisi is far
easy then the actual rpm way (masked into a tar.gz).

For now no installer please, just an archive to open and play inside.

The use of rpm today it's not neutral.

bye

Steps in order to reproduce the bug:
[1] Create a new text document (Document A) and insert some text.
[2] Save and close Document A.
[3] Create a second new document (B).
[4] Set option "LibreOffice Writer, General, Update link when loading" to "On
request".
[5] Insert a section as a link to Document A. The content of Document A is
displayed inside this section of Document B.
[6] Save and close Document B.
[7] Rename Document A with file manager.
[8] Open Document B.
[9] You are informed, that the document contains links to external data and you
are asked if you like to update the links. Click Yes.
[10] The borders of the section inside Document B are displayed, but its
content is empty.

If you choose at step [4] "Always" the behavior is equal except step [9] is not
performed.

Expected behavior:
Before step [10] I expected an error message, in order to inform the user that
the linked file does not exist.
