@reporter:
May I ask you to read hints on
carefully?
Then please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a sample document (not only screenshot)
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem, starting with description how
you launch LibO (and if possible how to created a
  sample document from the scratch)
- add information
-- What does "first run" mean: "Very first run" after installation or every
first LibO launch after PC has booted
  -- what EXACTLY is unexpected
  -- Document language, installed dictionaries
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
-- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37874] Horizontal scrolling with touchpad in left direction goes right instead

2011-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37874

--- Comment #3 from James 2011-12-19 21:50:21
PST ---
On the Intel version of LibreOffice 3.4.4 OOO340m1 (Build:402), I cannot
reproduce the problem.

My test procedure is:
 - restart LibreOffice
 - on the splash page, pick Spreadsheet
   - I get a spreadsheet called Untitled 1
 - type the number 1 in cell A1
 - click out and back in
   - cell has a square stretching handle in the bottom right corner
 - stretch vertically to about row 250
 - stretch horizontally to about column DM
 - position with scrollbars, to about the middle
 - put down two fingers and drag in all directions
   - scrollbars move smoothly in the expected directions

That makes it a power-pc specific bug, probably in parts of the operating
system that the LibreOffice people did not write.

I presume that you are not supported by Apple. I think that you are going to
need either a machine re-grade, or some good luck.

BTW, I have been using this database in more or less the current form for
about 4 years, and early 3.0 series OpenOffice software worked OK with regard
to formatting dates properly in Reports. I have some similar reports built
with earlier "wizards" with previous OpenOffice versions (possibly LibreOffice
versions) that give the properly formatted dates. SO the problem is recent and
its IN the wizard used to make Base reports.

Version 3.4.4 under xbuntu, screen is not properly redrawn when switching to a
workspace with the LibreOffice component-selection window in it.

If I open "Base" the situation gets even worse, menus off the top of the
screen, etc. It makes Base almost unusable.

Other components, "write" etc, work OK. Some handshake between LibreOffice and
Xfce seems to be failing. See the attached screenshot for an example.

Screenshot of report output showing poorly formatted dates

I build a query to my database which includes dates and other information in
each row.

I use the report wizard to build a report from that query and the dates are
formatted wrong.

Query Date Report Date
07/01/9434516
09/01/9735674
11/01/9836100
12/01/0839783
12/01/0940148

Note that the difference between "Report Date" values for 12/01/08 and 12/01/09
(40148 - 39783) is EXACTLY 365 (days) and the difference between "Report Date"
values for 11/01/98 and 12/01/09 (40148 - 36100) is 4048 (days). Both
differences are EXACTLY the correct number of days. So it seems obvious that
the formatting is wonky -- its showing the number of days since about 1900,
instead of a "date"

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42897] FORMATTING: Conditional formatting displays wrong cell background.

--- Comment #1 from Maciej Rumianowski

I have run your test and in step 3
Set "Cell value is" "equal to" = "success"
1. I have typed exacly "success" with " sign and your test fails (conditional
formating works perfect)

2. I have typed just success (LibreOffice changes it to 'success') and your
test passes (conditional formating is bad)

So I think it is connected how text value is treated, here changed to 'text'
which is badly evaluated.

I think it is also connected to this Bug 42282

 Bug #: 43965
Summary: FILEOPEN: RTF import regressions -- \page ignored,
subscripts scaled twice, and paragraph borders lost
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Beta1
  Platform: PowerPC
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: rho...@recurrentengineering.com

Testing LibO 3.5.0 beta 1, I am happy to see my previous bugs 36922 and 43206
resolved. However, I observed 3 regressions from LibO 3.3.2 in RTF import:

1. The RTF control word "\page" no longer causes a page feed. Oops.

2. Subscripts of the form "{\fsNN\dnN subscript-text}", where uppercase"N" is
an appropriate integer, display much too small. This is the old style of
subscript, predating "\sub" (which usually both lowers the subscript below the
baseline and shrinks the font size -- though Apple's TextEdit doesn't shrink).
My guess is that displayed subscripts are undergoing both the old and new
("\sub") transformations. Superscripts ("\upN" or "\sup") probably need
checking too.

3. Paragraph borders no longer appear when invoked by the "\brdr..." or "\box"
control words.

All these act correctly in LibO 3.3.2 on both MacOS PPC and Windows XP Intel.

Whoa ... you regularly run LO with an open localhost connection? Does that
imply you've a few connection scripts you use for testing (or other)?

That would seem to solve the issue.

Okay, then for this morphing bug/stupid-user report, is this now expected
knowledge from script writers? Should (can?) LO output a more helpful message
than "bridge disposed" here?

Thanks for your help, Caolán.

Ah, I didn't examine the .py script closely enough, so I didn't modify it
correctly to point to *my* install dir, which meant that my "import uno" gave
me my Fedora system installed pyuno from LibreOffice 3.4 which is all
configured to "just work" out of the box.

So, firstly probably need to check if you're before or after the change which
removes the "basis3.X" dir, i.e. I got just installation/opt/program now,
you're probably after that change as well.

Secondly, try this script, except modifying it for your env like I didn't do
the last time :-). It has an additional "URE_BOOTSTRAP" line in it so that the
whole stack of stuff is pointing to the right place.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43960] New: mutilation of text LO -> OO

2011-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43960

 Bug #: 43960
Summary: mutilation of text LO -> OO
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: dkamp...@xs4all.nl

I observed that an in LibreOffice(Writer) produced document can be
mutilated when opened in OpenOffice(Writer).

In a Fedora-16-LXDE (32 bits) distro I am working with LibreOffice. In
another machine I am working with the most recent stable Debian and
OpenOffice (OO 3.2.1; OOO320m19(Build:9505); ooo-build 3.2.1.4, Debian Package
1:3.2.1-11 + squeeze2).

Part of a sentence at the bottom of one page of my document was lacking
in the OpenOffice version. It was by sheer accident that I observed this
mutilation. I took another copy of the LO-document (in the Fedora-machine) and
repeated the action in the Debian-machine under OO. The same problem appeared
again.

It is not impossible that the reverse action (from OO to LO) also
results in mutilations. I however do not know a way to test this. Since I do
not
know which (of many) documents are mutilated this observation is rather
disastrous for stable textproduction.

I am not a "novice" but an experienced user of Linux and Linux
text-processing for more then 10 years.

With kind regards,

What would rather help would be using something like:

http://xmsgtrace.sourceforge.net/examples.html

To see what is causing the slowness; presumably excessive push & pull of images
to and from the X server (I guess).

Can you try turning on/off Tools->Options->View->"Use hardware acceleration" to
see if that affects the performance at all: without that on we use some older
code-paths.

Using 3.5.0 Beta 1 on remote display to thin clients, when you attempt to play
a presentation it sits for 5 seconds before displaying the first slide. In OOo
3.3 the first slide displays instantly. This happens even when no slide
transition is selected. It's basically far too slow to use.

It's possible this is because of the infrastructure in place to allow for the
3D slide presentations, which was never built into OOo on Linux.

I can replicate this issue every time, and can provide additional information.
Strace it starting right before I hit the play button?

Egad; I was going to close this wontfix and open a new, neutral bug around
cleaning up the visual appeal of that image/ - but didn't get to it.

Apologies for that, and the rather inflammatory initial description.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43951] New: EDITING : strange behavior editing a multi-line cell in input line

2011-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43951

 Bug #: 43951
Summary: EDITING : strange behavior editing a multi-line cell
in input line
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Beta1
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: gerard.farg...@orange.fr

LibO 3.5.0 beta1 with Windows Vista.

Step by step :
1. Open a new Calc document.
2. In cell A1, type (without quotes) "line1" then press Ctrl+Enter and type
"line2". Validate with Enter

You have now 2 lines of text :
line1
line2

3. Go back to cell A1
4. Press Shift+Ctrl+F2
5. Type "more", then Enter

Expected result :
line1
line2more

Result :
line1
oreline2m

First character is as expected at the end of the last line.
following characters are at the beginning of the 2nd line.

Before validation you can see all your edit at the end of the 1st line in the
input line (formula bar).

Editing with F2 (in the cell) instead of Shift+Ctrl+F2 gives expected result
despite you can not see him in the input line (display 1st line).

I open it, everything is OK, the hungarian specific characters was appear
correct.

I make the same test in Windows XP English, with LO3.5 Beta1 and after I reopen
the changed RTF the file is changed, like in Windows 7, and the result is the
same, like in attached PDF (Save errors after resave in RTF).

Gosh - what fun :-) So - finding these 'exited with error 12345' type errors is
a bit of a pain. You need to:

gdb ./soffice.bin
b _exit
b exit
r

and then when it exits, a 't a a bt' would be great.

Thanks for persisting Cor ! - much appreciated. Are you sure that the problem
is specific to connecting the 2nd monitor ?

I'm also rather interested in your hardware: how did you get this odd TV output
goodness ? :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43917] pango requires that freetype build before cairo

2011-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43917

--- Comment #3 from James 2011-12-19 01:45:48
PST ---
Nope; I think it's still getting worse.

My best guess is that MacOS libreoffice is in the middle of transitioning from
freetype to quartz fonts. Unfortunately, this passes through cairo and is
visible in pango, and the required extensions to pango haven't been written
yet.

This is above my pay-grade, and I'm going to move to origin/libreoffice-3-5 and
see if I have better luck.

Bug 42577 reports about the same problem in a different situation, but I
wouldn't mark them as duplicate without know the problem comes from the same
code.
