It happens whenever I try to anything that touches on templates, 1. create a new document using a template - error is "Error creating a new document: templates already exist" If I click on "OK", the "Templates and Documents- My Documents" dialog opens and the original message is repeated, however clicking on "OK" dismisses it. Within the "Templates and Documents- My Documents" click on "Organise ..." prodices the original error twice, followed by a empty "Template Management" dialog. 2. File -> Templates-> "previous error" -> OK -> Templates dialog -> added new template name = "xxx" -> OK -> "Error writing document xxx as template: template already exists" -> OK -> "Error writing document xxx as template: General Error. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45026] Command Line invokes empty document if LibreOffice Writer already running
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45026 --- Comment #4 from BEFE Software 2012-02-17 09:09:32 PST --- Jean-Baptiste, thanks for the reply but, quite honestly, I can't find any documentation anywhere that tells me what %profile% is in "-env:UserInstallation=%pathfile%"... I suppose, since you're using the '%', you're talking about a Windows style environment variable. Okay, let's assume it is... What is a PROFILE? I don't see any documentation that jumps out at me telling me about those either. Is it a separate unique file name, is it something I have to configure or is it more complex than that? Not just that, I'm currently in Ubuntu/Linux mode because I'm also a software developer and that's the platform I'm currently working on (it was Windows when I logged the ticket). So I find the reference to '%profile%' a little bit suspicious. If you could point me to somewhere that "-env:UserInstallation=..." is documented I'll give it my best effort to answer your question. By the way, it works just fine if I do NOT have another LibreOffice running, so you're most likely right about the profiles. But, WHAT IS A PROFILE and, more importantly from a user perspective, WHY SHOULD I CARE about profiles? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45049] Non-standard caption number and reference do not appear in the insert cross-reference dialog
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45049 --- Comment #11 from Michael Meeks 2012-02-17 09:07:24 PST --- > As soon as the Calc becomes useful again in version 3.5, something horrible > is introduced in Writer. It's time to split those applications ... So - the reason Calc is useful again is that we have rather comprehensive unit tests that prove that we havn't regressed in hundreds of common ways :-) We also didn't merge a ton of code of very mixed quality from Oracle just before the 3.5 release as we did for 3.4. So I expect calc quality to stay high going forward. Writer on the other hand has very, very few-to-no unit tests at all, which means we will get more problems there going forward. The solution to that is not moaning about it, but encouraging people to write unit tests, and making that process as easy as possible. This is a good example - it should be quite possible to write a unit test for it. I don't know about Word 2007, but Word 2010 has made this feature even more prominent & powerful by adding a setting under File > Options that allows users to make it the default Print Layout view. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43849] Autocorrection non-functional in documents created from template
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43849 --- Comment #7 from Fabian Tröster 2012-02-17 06:45:52 PST --- Alright, as promised I'm back with results and I'm going to post two more files which I hope will confirm my thoughts. The bug present in versions 3.4.4 and 3.4.5! (At least for version 3.4.4 the bug is confirmed for Windows and also Linux platforms.) Thank heavens, I could confirm this bug yet again on three different computers. I was beginning to think this was a wild goose chase. Further analysis shows differences as follows (please see newly attached samples): Document created from template does NOT have a default language for styles/templates. That's the reason why auto-correction doesn't work properly. Solution: Make sure the application always sets a default language for any style/template at startup. Usually you can safely use the system's current logon language, since most users would be using the system logon language to write their documents anyway. Comment: As a software developer myself I'd prefer it if the application checks for styles/templates without default language and if found sets the system's logon language. Having a style/template without default language is sort of an undefined situation which should be avoided. System environments used: Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Professional 32bit (two different and independent machines) LibreOffice 3.4.4 and 3.4.5 also used for further confirmation of strange behaviour: Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS LibreOffice 3.4.4 (I haven't upgraded my Linux machine to LibreOffice 3.4.5 yet, but I think that's acceptable for this bugreport, since it is set up for version 3.4.4 anyway.) (In reply to comment #4) > Sorry for misunderstanding. I do not mean that bug not exist. Just explained > how to force LibreOffice work correctly. > Now I deleted LibreOffice folders from user setting on Windows computer and > tested 3.4.3 and 3.5.0 versions. No problem with -->. Select entire column or row 2. Drag & drop the row / column to be inserted into the new position. If you want to copy or switch simultaneously pressing the ctrl or alt button To be less confusing in the descriptions I only use rows, although the same goes for columns, nor will I mention the +ctrl and +alt options although they are affected the same way Current behavior: Calc only moves part of the row, starting at the first not empty cell to the last not empty cell, leaving the rest unchanged. If the first not empty cell is not the first of the row it will be put in the first cell of the new position. e.g. I want to move row 10 to row 2. Row 10 has data in the cells D10, E10 & G10. When I move the entire row 10 to row 2, it results in only moving the cells (D10..G10) to (A2..D2) leaving the rest of row 2 untouched.
