You're trying to sort the result by a column which is not present in select
list. That is not correct.

Profile is where all your personalizations for LO are stored.
For LO up to 3.4.5 it is stored in ~/.libreoffice
For LO from 3.5.0 it is stored in ~/.config/libreoffice
In these folder you can see another folder named 3, this folder is your LO
profile. I suggest you to duplicate this folder in 3_bis and use this second
profile.

Here is a script I use to launch LO 3.4 with a profile of my choice:
#!/bin/sh
MY_CONF=file:///home//.libreoffice/3_bis/
/opt/libreoffice3.4/program/soffice -env:UserInstallation=${MY_CONF} "$@"

modify accordingly to your settings and save these 3 lines in a text file, make
it executable and launch it in a terminal.

Best regards. JBF

Date: Fri Feb 10 14:58:29 2012 +0100

use system stdlibs on Linux by default (fdo#45074, fdo#45696)

The old system libraries breaked 3rd-party extensions.
There were also problems with exceptions hadnling.

We use pretty old compiler for the official build, so it should be
compatible
with most systems. It is the preferred default also for other distro builds.

We stop shipping these libs in 3.5.1.

 Yes, deadlocks have stopped

As such this should be automatically fixed in 3.5.1 where we stop shipping

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46137] UI: no assignable shortcuts for buttons in the Find & Replace pane

After reading your comment, I tried the Command + F and R combinations, and
indeed, these work on the Mac.

I still think there should be a way to assign custom keyboard shortcuts, and
not let each pane have a life of its own, as there are other problems such as
reported in 46136.

In the meantime, life got a bit simpler for me thanks to your post!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46155] : unable to access templates

2012-02-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46155

--- Comment #1 from John 2012-02-17 10:59:40 PST ---
I get the same problem with Writer.
It happens whenever I try to anything that touches on templates,
1. create a new document using a template - error is "Error creating a new
document: templates already exist"
If I click on "OK", the "Templates and Documents- My Documents" dialog opens
and the original message is repeated, however clicking on "OK" dismisses it.
Within the "Templates and Documents- My Documents" click on "Organise ..."
prodices the original error twice, followed by a empty "Template Management"
dialog.
2. File ->
Templates->
"previous error" -> OK ->
Templates dialog -> added new template name = "xxx" -> OK ->
"Error writing document xxx as template: template already exists" -> OK ->
"Error writing document xxx as template: General Error. General input/output
Eerror." -> OK ->

Another thing, in the Template Management Dialog the "Commands" button only
opens two(2) items "Printer Settings ..." and "Update" clicking on update gives
the
same error as above.

screenshot and network dump

Hi,

I'm using the 5.1.10 32-bit MySQL ODBC connector for Mac OS X 10.6 from
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/
mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.10-osx10.6-x86-32bit.tar.gz

on my Mac OS X 10.7 with LibreOffice 3.5.0rc3 (I've installed the final 3.5.0
but the About dialog is still showing 3.5.0rc3).

I've managed to configure successfully the System DSN for my database and I can
access to the content of the database from other software.

>From LibreOffice I manage to get the connection working but the existing
>tables in the database do not show up on the Tables list. I attach an
>screenshot with
the successful connection test dialog and the empty Table list.

I've sniffed the network traffic while testing the connection and while
clicking on the "View"->"Refresh Tables" option and I can see MySQL queries
going back
and forth. In fact, when clicking on "Refresh Tables" I can see the server
responds with the names of the existing tables in the database, but still they
do
not show up on LibreOffice.

Find attached the screenshot and the network dump, all compressed in a zip file.

Is this a known bug? Is it related to the connector? Any known solution?

Thanks a lot!

Miguel

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45026] Command Line invokes empty document if LibreOffice Writer already running

2012-02-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45026

--- Comment #4 from BEFE Software 2012-02-17 09:09:32 PST
---
Jean-Baptiste, thanks for the reply but, quite honestly, I can't find any
documentation anywhere that tells me what %profile% is in
"-env:UserInstallation=%pathfile%"...

I suppose, since you're using the '%', you're talking about a Windows style
environment variable. Okay, let's assume it is... What is a PROFILE? I don't
see
any documentation that jumps out at me telling me about those either. Is it a
separate unique file name, is it something I have to configure or is it more
complex than that?

Not just that, I'm currently in Ubuntu/Linux mode because I'm also a software
developer and that's the platform I'm currently working on (it was Windows when
I
logged the ticket). So I find the reference to '%profile%' a little bit
suspicious.

If you could point me to somewhere that "-env:UserInstallation=..." is
documented I'll give it my best effort to answer your question.

By the way, it works just fine if I do NOT have another LibreOffice running, so
you're most likely right about the profiles. But, WHAT IS A PROFILE and, more
importantly from a user perspective, WHY SHOULD I CARE about profiles?

Thanks

Bruce Ferris

> As soon as the Calc becomes useful again in version 3.5, something horrible
> is introduced in Writer. It's time to split those applications ...

So - the reason Calc is useful again is that we have rather comprehensive unit
tests that prove that we havn't regressed in hundreds of common ways :-) We also
didn't merge a ton of code of very mixed quality from Oracle just before the
3.5 release as we did for 3.4. So I expect calc quality to stay high going
forward.

Writer on the other hand has very, very few-to-no unit tests at all, which
means we will get more problems there going forward.

The solution to that is not moaning about it, but encouraging people to write
unit tests, and making that process as easy as possible. This is a good example
-
it should be quite possible to write a unit test for it. If you'd like to work
on that contact me for some help.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39080] Add "draft view" for Writer

Created attachment 57217

MS-Word setting to make white-space removal the default view

@Christoph Noack

Christoph, you said: "Microsoft changed the behavior from 2003 to 2007 and
made this feature "more hidden". I assume they wanted to completely
remove it, but feared the feedback by the existing user base."

This is not true. There were never plans to remove it; the feature is a well
regarded feature. I don't know about Word 2007, but Word 2010 has made this
feature even more prominent & powerful by adding a setting under File > Options
that allows users to make it the default Print Layout view. I attached a photo
showing the setting.

LO Writer needs a setting to make its Print Layout view automatically hide
white space between pages. Be nice to see this setting added to Writer in the
next
Libre Office release!

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open two Calc documents.
2. Link some cells (from one column) in first doc to cells in second one.
   Do it 2+ times.
3. Try to sort this column.

Current behavior:
LO "sorts" the links --> you get the different values in first document.

Expected behavior:
Sorted column just as the links were normal values (manually entered).

Platform (if different from the browser): Windows

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:13.0a1) Gecko/20120217 Firefox/13.0a1

Oh, by the way ... additional comment:
Bear in mind that I'm using German versions of everything ... that might make a
difference, since we're talking about default language settings in styles.

More information on the new files I just posted: both files were created with
LibreOffice 3.4.5

Using Vista 32 Home Basic (SP2)
8 user accounts but only three are active LibreOffice users
Standalone help has not successfully installed for all user accounts.
Administrator's account is fine
One active user account is fine
2nd active user account always links to the online general help facility.
I have:-
1) repaired the help facility using the administrator's account.
2) un-installed the help facility using the administrator's account.
3) re-installed the help facility using the administrator's account.
4) repaired the help facility using a copy of the installer files but from
within the affected user's account.
5) repaired the registry using Glary Utilities - No Pertinent errors.
I have not uninstalled the LibreOffice software as usability for user 1 is an
imperative.

--- Comment #7 from Fabian Tröster 2012-02-17 06:45:52

Alright, as promised I'm back with results and I'm going to post two more files
which I hope will confirm my thoughts.

The bug present in versions 3.4.4 and 3.4.5! (At least for version 3.4.4 the
bug is confirmed for Windows and also Linux platforms.) Thank heavens, I could
confirm this bug yet again on three different computers. I was beginning to
think this was a wild goose chase.

Further analysis shows differences as follows (please see newly attached
samples):
Document created from template does NOT have a default language for
styles/templates. That's the reason why auto-correction doesn't work properly.

Solution:
Make sure the application always sets a default language for any style/template
at startup. Usually you can safely use the system's current logon language,
since most users would be using the system logon language to write their
documents anyway.

Comment:
As a software developer myself I'd prefer it if the application checks for
styles/templates without default language and if found sets the system's logon
language. Having a style/template without default language is sort of an
undefined situation which should be avoided.

System environments used:
Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Professional 32bit (two different and independent
machines)
LibreOffice 3.4.4 and 3.4.5

also used for further confirmation of strange behaviour:
Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS
LibreOffice 3.4.4

(I haven't upgraded my Linux machine to LibreOffice 3.4.5 yet, but I think
that's acceptable for this bugreport, since it is set up for version 3.4.4
anyway.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46230] New: : impossible to perform a drag & drop of entire row/column

2012-02-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46230

 Bug #: 46230
Summary: : impossible to perform a drag & drop of entire
row/column
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: toeg...@iol.pt

Problem description:
Impossible to perform a drag & drop of entire row/column, whether moving,
copying (+ctrl) or switching (+alt)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select entire column or row
2. Drag & drop the row / column to be inserted into the new position. If you
want to copy or switch simultaneously pressing the ctrl or alt button

To be less confusing in the descriptions I only use rows, although the same
goes for columns, nor will I mention the +ctrl and +alt options although they
are
affected the same way

Current behavior:
Calc only moves part of the row, starting at the first not empty cell to the
last not empty cell, leaving the rest unchanged.

If the first not empty cell is not the first of the row it will be put in the
first cell of the new position. e.g. I want to move row 10 to row 2. Row 10 has
data in the cells D10, E10 & G10. When I move the entire row 10 to row 2, it
results in only moving the cells (D10..G10) to (A2..D2) leaving the rest of row
2
untouched.

Expected behavior:
If the entire row is selected, the entire row should be moved

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:10.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0

Italian personalized dictionary does not exist. What you had in 3.4 and before,
that did not contain Italian words. These word list have been consolidated, and
duplications were removed. Now there are language independent word lists and a
few remaining language dependent word lists (including Slovenian).

I just noticed that this might be the HTML export that fails.

Copying some cells from Calc and pasting them in a Writer document as HTML

I haven't seen any problem when pasting in TextEdit (as RTF ?).
