It seems that I've found a way to repair this behavior by simply run sudo
apt-get install --reinstall libreoffice in terminal. Now Libre Office uses the
icons in launcher for it's different apps. I hope it helps you too

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46805] New: large autocorrect database make LibO freeze when start typing

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46805

 Bug #: 46805
Summary: large autocorrect database make LibO freeze when start
typing
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Linguistic component
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: ba...@quipo.it

Created attachment 57846
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=57846
large autocorrect database

this is a different issue than:
https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=46765
that only affect LibO 3.5.0, while the current bug has been there since the OOo
era...

it seems that large autocorrect databases male LibO freeze when start typing.

try this: enter the autocorr subfolder in your user profile (in Windows is
under: User\LibreOffice 3\user\autocorr)
and put the attached acor_.dat file (backup yours first) which has 64000
entries inside it.

start LibO and open a blank writer file.
digit "test" and hit space...

you will see a first 2-3 second freeze after "tes" the the cursor moves to
"test" and another longer freeze (6 seconds maybe) happens before you see the
"space"

so there are 2 freeze moments, the first one is shorter and unrelated to
autocorrection (bug 46765... it's present even with no autocorrect database)
while the second is longer and depends on autocorrection.

both freeze moment happen just at first start, so it will annoy you only once
when you first launch LibO, but give a bad impression about LibO performace

these tests were done on LibO 3.5.0
Windows Vista 64bit SP1
IntelCore2 Duo CPI P8400 @2.26 GhZ, 4GB RAM

but can be reproduced even on Windows XP.

I create custom styles for the shapes, connectors, drawing objects and text.

When I rename a style (eg. LOConnectorRed > LOConnectorRED1) all the objects
connect to this style lose the style attribute (the objects revert to the
default style).

I mainly use Draw for mid-complex flow-charts, I later embed in Writer
documents.

Wow !? and you are not stracing from the beginning - but stracing just the
piece that is slow ? if so, that's rather amazing.

Possibly removing the '-s 256' would help shrink the log output :-) then again
- you can always mail me the trace if you like !

Thanks.

I am able to reproduce the problem with "LibreOffice 3.5.1.1 German UI/Locale
[Build-ID: 45a2874-aa8c38d-dff3b9c-def3dbd-62463c8] on German WIN7 Home Premium
(64bit).

1. Start LibO from WIN Start Center, open new CALC document from LibO
   Atart Center
2. type a "x" to A1 after you clicked cell
3. Typ a "y" to B2 after you clicked cell
4. Type a "z" to C3 after you clicked cell
5. Click A1, select with pushed left mouse button A1:C126
6. Click the 'Borders' icon in 'Formatting' Toolbar, then
   bottom right "all borders" icon
   > Borders appear for selected A1:C126
7. Click 'Format Cells' icon in 'Formatting' Toolbar
   > Dialog appears
8. Card 'Background', select "Yellow"
   > All cells will get yellow background
9. For test
   > cell cursor goes to C3, what indicates that
 reporter's problem will be reproducible
10. save as test.ods
11. save as test.xls and close
12. reopen test.xls
Expected: borders and yellow background A1:C126
Actual: borders and yellow background A1:C3

That will also work using Menu 'Format -> Cells'

I sometimes also had the expected result (visible in step 9), may be with a
very little difference in the proceeding before. The different result is
predictable, scrolling in step 5 will be much slower. But I was not able to
find out what different proceeding makes the difference.

I also see the effect with LibO 3.4.5 and LibO 3.3.0
Works fine with OOo 3.3, in step 9 cell cursor only reaches C3. but all
background will be saved in XLS.

this is not happening on Win XP and above
and this is - also on Win2K as I rember - not happening in the

compiler-version and (new) relay on some .net-configurations/functions, that do
not exist in Win2K.

There is a problem with the default style in Draw.

It should behave as the default style in Writer, but it does not.

I set Alignment > left/top, so I expect from then on, any shape, text box,
drawing object will have the text left align.

They do not. Not matter the default style setting, any new created text box,
shape, etc. has a hard coded setting "text centered".

Either I had to select any newly created shape and go to menu Format > default
formatting.
Either I had to reapply the default style (or any custom style) on the shape,
drawing object, text box, containing text.

Draw styles could benefit a little cleanup. It looks like some default or hard
coded settings (as the blue default fill color of the shapes) is not optimal
anymore, and could be refreshed.

I reproduced the pb with master too (but I didn't run "make clean" after having
removed lightproof).

Compiling 3.5 right now (I had done a make clean to be sure there's nothing
left about lightproof)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 35959] Page Format Not Being Applied when launching new document from file manager

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35959

--- Comment #12 from enigma 2012-02-29 14:38:04 PST ---
Thank You for the replies.

Cor Nouws:

- The subject of this bug that I am having problems with are text documents
being loaded not .odt documents or any previously formatted documents. The text
documents are completely unformatted so LO should not choose to change
templates. One is as good as the other except for me Letter page size is
required. :-)
- No changes

sasha.libreoff...@gmail.com:

1) "Documents, created with new template, opens correctly."

  Yes

2) "I mean this:
- do File->Templates->Organize and select template with desired paper size (may
be previously created)
- right click on it and select "Use as default template"
- delete or rename previos default template
- start document that known that previously opened with wrong paper size"

I loaded a text document with a brand spanking new template and the paper
size was wrong

3) "try Tools->Options, LibreOffice Writer->Printer, field "Paper tray from
printer settings""

I do not have a Printer option, I have a Print option. I checked the box.

"and Tools->Options, LibreOffice Writer->Compatibility, field "Use printer
metrics for document formatting""

I did this and loaded a text document. The results were the same with the
wrong page size.

Further Info:I modified the printer settings to use Letter and I saved
these with a new default template. When I loaded a text file the printer
settings reverted back to A4.

The bottom line is that so far all 'permanent' changes to templates and
printer settings are lost when loading a text document. The new customised
necessary settings are completely ignored.

Hope this helps.

Ah, that's the crash reporting mechanism (where soffice.exe starts a new
instance of soffice.bin if the latter has crashed). Disable it with passing
--norestore command line argument to soffice.exe.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46702] : Installation halts with request to exit LibreOffice 3.5

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46702

--- Comment #2 from Idwal 2012-02-29 13:35:17 PST ---
I do have IBMs Lotus Symphony installed. This is because I have a number of
documents from when I used Lotus Smartsuite. OpenOffice did not support the
format used by Smartsuite so it was a necessary installation.
I appreciate that LibreOffice does provide support, but since there seemed no
reason why both suites could not co-exist I had no reason to uninstall
Symphony.
Certainly Symphony has been on the system since before I switched to
LibreOffice and I have had no problems previously.

I had considered the possibility that Symphony might have been interfering with
the installation of OpenOffice and had tried exiting the program at the taskbar
icon, but this had made no difference.

When I followed your advise and checked with Process Explorer for soffice.bin
it was still running after having exited Symphony (as above).
When I ran the LibreOffice installer it errored as earlier.
I then killed the process, but found that when I clicked OK in the error window
the install terminated and I had to re-initialise the install.

This time it did, however, proceed without error and successfully completed the
install of V 3.5.0.

line 95, in
'.uno:Quit', '', 0, ())

On LibreOffice I Get a new window "Libre Office 3.5" in french saying more or
less "LibreOffice stopped suddently due to an unwaited error. all files on
which you where running ..."
The list of files to be recovered is empty.
Clicking OK button does not have any effect.
soffice.bin and soffice.exe processes are still running

running gdb gives the attached traces.

trying to open a LibreOffice Document does not have any effect. neither trying
to open one of the components of LibreOffice. except that it adds a soffice.bin
and soffice.exe instance in the process lists.

Trying to kill the process soffice.bin using Windows task management works and
puts back to normal everything.

I didn't specifically use and special technique to copy one cell to another.
I'm not sure of the context that umas is using 'RTF'. At this risk of
misinterpreting, I did not import an RTF document. Just simple Ctrl-C and
Ctrl-V manoeuvrings.

When a GUI instance of LO is running, the convert-to CLI command fails to

@sasha
I have run and attached a debug session log - please see 17/Feb attachment

May be a while before I can try LO 3.5 as the PPA for Ubuntu 11.10 still shows
LO 3.4 as the latest and the chat forums say that LO 3.5 is not fully
compatible with 11.10 so I may wait until Ubuntu 12 is released - due April.

However, the symptoms still persist now and again causing a lot of swearing!

Steve,

Can you be more precise please :

1) Give a step by step instruction as to how to reproduce.

2) Provide a sample file or files (DBF in this case containing the crlf
characters).

3) Indicate whether this used to work in previous versions of LibreOffice or
OpenOffice.org.

Thanks,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45284] formulas in writer file exported to word are sized incorrectly

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #6 from Yury 2012-02-29 10:38:29 PST

I'll attach a prepared and re-tested example tomorrow.

And, like I said before, this patch is not a real solution, but a kludge,
really.

As I don't understand the starmath module too well myself, I've just removed
("hacked off") a provision for inserting the "size" tag, which is abused by
export to Word Eq. editor AND import from Word Eq. editor routines. Personally,
I can live without "size" tag (I'd rather have a global font size(s) changing
control/dialog), but the effective corruption of formulas by insertion of "size
12", "size 8" is quite a PITA.

The bug occurred under Windows 7 x64 Professional.
I haven't tried under any other OS.
And I also don't have such an irregular monitor configuration anymore, nor do I
change layout all that often now, so I can't provide much more info at this

Here are example files. I first created a new Calc document and setup a macro
along with a button to execute the macro. I saved the file as "macro test.ods".

I then did a "save as" and created "macro test.xls". While the document is
still open the macro works. Once you close and open the document again the
macro is no longer present.

I then copied the "macro test.xls" as "macro test - Excel.xls". I opened in
Excel and confirmed no macro were listed on the document. I then created a new
macro that performs the same task and assigned it to a button. I saved the
document and opened it with Calc. The macro is present and runs properly.

I have created new versions of Petr Tomasek's original test files, but with the
'liga' and 'rlig' features instead of the 'ccmp' feature.

The results are somewhat puzzling:

* LO 3.5.0rc3 on Windows will display correctly both Petr Tomasek's original
'ccmp' feature and my new 'liga' and 'rlig' features. However, it will NOT
display the ligatures of the Gabriola font which is kinda Windows 7's OpenType
features showcase font. Note that Gabriola uses 'liga' ligatures as well. ...

* LO 3.5.0rc3 on Mac OS X will display correctly my new 'liga' and 'rlig'
features, but NOT Petr Tomasek's original 'ccmp' features. However, it will
display the ligatures of Gabriola.

* LO 3.5.0rc3 on Ubuntu Linux will not display any ligatures at all, not
'liga', 'rlig', 'ccmp' or Gabriola's.

Unfortunately, this is very inconsistent.

Morning,

apologies probably for not using the 'right' terminology ...but

If you import a 'picture from file' on 'top' (over ?) of a highlighted (?)
existing picture, it does not 'replace' the original picture, as soffice
doesit just puts it on top of that existing picture... is it supposed to
work in this way different from open office ? if that is so, then I apologise
for this entry...but I guess as libre office took on openoffice's mantle then
it should work in the same way...or I just have not found the work around I
need to be able to replace pictures fast.

Cheers

Grog

Pretty old issue, I also see it with OOo 3.3, OOo 3.1.1, OOo 1.1.4

Source can also be a Seamonkey combo box, a Tag from a Saia PG5 FuPla (PLC
programming software), Sunbird Fields (Title), Input into this "Additional
Comments:" input field ...

I can't find an AOOo Issue, strange!

the attachement is the file in which the problem occurs

quite simple as stated in the summary...
some cells require to be resized in height to allow the text to be shown, when
resized i save the file but when i open it again, the cell in question is reste
to former size. the celll in question is B12 on second tab... it should open
there, this stuff is really driving me nuts, because i have to resize the cells
before i print and sometimes forget it (ofcourse) and thus have to throw away
the paper... =)

P.P.S. I can explain where LibreOffice-3.5.0_Win_x86 uses all new icons (OS
Windows: easy hacking, registry fix). These icons (for Windows_Explorer) are
packed into the new file "loicons.dll". The remaining files (*.exe;
soffice.bin) contain only the bare minimum of icons. Now the weight of files
can not be reduced.

Errors in icons and pictures, some icons and pictures (MIME-type) is missing.
A. MIME-types:
 1. "Chart" - these files will only open by the program Calc, so the icon
should be green frame (now - black).
 2. "Master_Doc" - are called "Writer_Global_Document", these files will only
open by the program Writer, so the icon should be blue frame (now - black).
 3. Icons Web files have a frame of black. "sweb.exe" uses an icon
"swriter.exe" (blue). I think that the use of the icon "Web" with the blue
frame (as Writer) is the correct.
 4. There are no icons for the files (for example, Microsoft_Office), a format
which supports LibreOffice limited. IMAGES_{ALL}.ZIP uses icons OpenOffice-1 to
refer to these files. Windows Explorer does not even have these icons, and uses
icons main applications. New icons can be obtained, if the graphic objects of

 5. There is no icon for "*.vor" files, IDE "Quick Start" and IDE "Templates
and Documents" - "empty template".
 6. There is no icons for the "quickstart.exe" file and the "Program Group -
LibreOffice" folder.
B. Application icons with size 256x256 px, contain an excessive number of
elements. This makes the icons look blurry when scaled to the size 96x96 px

C. We only have a few pictures size 22x22 px to use the GUI (images_{tango,

D. Pictures "Template", having a size 16x16 px, lost the spiral.

What I mean scrolling is that you click the mid button and move the mouse up
and down, not just scrolling the mid button. If you compare the distance of
the mouse moved and the speed to other application you will find it is really
to SLOW.

Of course, smooth is another problem.

opening doc file
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.3.4 release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Created attachment 57806

test case of unexpected pictures

Steps to reproduce:
0. Open attached doc file
1. See at the bottom of document
Expected: no pictures there
Actually: some pictures present

Source of problem: Word allows to place all type of objects outside of page
margin. It is completely normally in Word to select picture or any other object
and move it outside of page. Object becomes unseen and non-printable, but still
exist. When Writer opens such document, it changes positions of objects so that
they fit completely inside of page. Writer not allows object to be outside of
page even partially.

So, until such restriction in Writer remains, this bug can not be fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46773] New: : Format change between database and spreadsheet

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 46773
Summary: : Format change between database and spreadsheet
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 RC2
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: j...@janusp.com

Created attachment 57805
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=57805
Image of the pivot table. I could also send the database, if it is needed,
tell me, so I will clean it up a bit to make it easier.

Problem description:

I am having a change of formats between a database and a spreadsheet (both made
with libreoffice). Original types in the database are DECIMAL and in the
spreadsheet they appear like DATE or DECIMAL.

Steps to reproduce (not very sure at what moment it appear):
1. I made a table in database.
2. The a query.
3. Import them in a "pivot table" in spreadsheet. At first, everything was Ok
(not really, they seem to be just text for spreadsheet).
4. After a few days it became crazy an started to see both DECIMAL and DATE in
the same original DECIMAL data.

Current behavior:
I think, every new value I insert in database is seen as DATE in spreadsheet.

Expected behavior:
