[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47194] New: Tables, border line style, double line to close together

2012-03-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 47194
   Summary: Tables, border line style, double line to close
together
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 RC2
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: gomadtr...@gmail.com

Created attachment 58277
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=58277
comparison of border lines style LO ver 3.5.1RC2 & LO ver 3.3.4 rendered in 3.5

On a newly created table, Table properties>table format>borders>line>style

The distance between the two lines is to small, it is hard to tell it is a
double line border style. The distance between the two lines used to be greater
~ x2, in ver 3.3 and before. This is using the 'line width' of .05 which is the
same line weight as the table. increasing the line width is not the solution,
heavier lines for the border are not wanted, more distance between the lines
is.

Thank You

Greg

A lot of memory leaks have been fixed on LO but there are still ones (hope not
too much :-)).
Could you remove/backup your LO profile then try again, this time by watching
the memory/cpu consumption just to be sure ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47192] New: [FILEOPEN] Calc password protected file save in LO 3.5.0 don't open in 3.4.4

2012-03-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47192

 Bug #: 47192
   Summary: [FILEOPEN] Calc password protected file save in LO
3.5.0 don't open in 3.4.4
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: von...@yahoo.fr

Hello,

When saving a password protected file with LO 3.5, and then I try to open it
with LO 3.4.4 it failed, with the error message: "Error in format of the sub
file content.xml at position 1,1(row,col)". (Note: It it a French message i've
translate myself in English, I may not have the right English one).

OS:
 - Ubuntu 12.04 64bits beta (LO 3.5)
 - Ubuntu 12.04 64bits beta (LO 3.4.4 using the version ship in 11.10 via
chroot)
 - Ubuntu 11.10 64bits full patchs (LO 3.4.4)
 - Windows 7 SP1 64bit (LO 3.4: buildid=340m1(Build:203))
 - Windows 8 Consumer preview 32bits (LO 3.5.0)

>From 3.4 to 3.5 no problem.

>From 3.5 to 3.4:
 - Create a Calc file (an empty file is fine), save it with a password, using
LO 3.5.
 - Try to open it with another LO 3.5 on another system: it work.
 - Try to open it with LO 3.4 in the same system, or in another: it failed.

LO 3.4 didn't even ask me for a password, I have directly the error message. I
think that LO 3.4 didn't see this file as encrypted.

Rename the LO3.5 file with a ".zip" extension, decompress it. The zip program
don't ask you for a password, and extract encrypted files (nor the 3.4
encrypted file either...).

I didn't check for others type of files (writer, ...), perhaps it is the same
(I suppose the same code is used).

Thanks for reading (and more for fixing it ;-) )

bt from master on pc Debian x86-64

I retrieved this pb too (I've been had this one since a while)

First I had this :
The program 'soffice' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 10673 error_code 8 request_code 42 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

So to retrieve the bt, I did before launching soffice.bin --calc
export GDK_SYNCHRONIZE="1"

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34002] EDITING - Add Reveal Codes feature like there is in WordPerfect.

2012-03-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34002

--- Comment #5 from bertr...@starpower.net 2012-03-10 12:01:46 PST ---
Law offices in DC who switched from WP to MS soon lost productivity and saw an
unacceptable drop in quality of their work products. No matter what a
programmer may theorize, a blind person does NOT have full control of his or
her formatting codes. A large firm paid a programmer (... one of the original
programmers for GIMP) to write a plugin for MS-Word that would open a reveal
codes window in word. The program is called "CrossEyes." It used to be
expensive, but it is now available for free. Although I will continue to use
WP because of RC, I've heard that law offices using Word with Cross Eyes have
had improvements in productivity and document quality. It's only logical. The
secretaries were finally able to understand why their pool editing was never
printing out exactly as originally expected. Yes, even lowly secretaries can
understand and make good use of seeing formatting codes. Search on "Cross Eyes
- Reveal Codes in Word"

Reveal Codes means visibility to format coding. There is NO truth in WYSIWYG
on a monitor when real output will be sent (at great expense) to a highly
precise priner. Visibility of codes is an ESSENTIAL feature for precise
output. Word processors output to printers and pdf, and sometimes to
structured text files, all of which are as unforgiving as possible in terms of
object placement. Web programmers get to see their HTML code and their output
devices are about as forgiving as possible. Printers are more precise, and
mistakes are expensive, ecologically and financially. Full visibility of ALL
format codes is just not an option. I don't understand the footdragging. Why
copy a loser ...

WordPerfect invented Styles. Styles work in WP because users have access to
ALL the codes in a style. Bill Gates thought he could reinvent styles and have
writers send their output to highly precise and unforgiving machines by hiding
the codes from us ... hahaha. What a JOKE! The QUALITY of printed product in
the workplace globally has declined dramatically ever since Gates tried to
force his Word product on us (by having Windows registry step on the clock
cycles whenever WP was running).

WP also allows a user to search for specific format and style codes. For
anyone who works with scanned documents, OCR (optical character recognition)
programs really pile on the junk codes, trying to scale a best fit to the
imperfect page scans. The junk formatting cannot be repaird in MSWord or OO
because the junk codes cannot be revealed, or searched on and deleted. WP
allows document search and delete on ALL formating codes. A simple macro
remove the junk formatting from OCR (no way around it), while saving the
important formatting, like italics, bold and font size.

If you've never worked with reveal codes, and have a copy of MS Office, search
on Cross Eyes Reveal Codes for Word. If MS adopts a reveal codes feature, the
open source community will have some serious political egg on its face for a
few years while it tries to catch up with the obvious. Gates will be laughing
... "Look how hidden the so-called open source community really is ..."

O.K. - I'm on to something, and I think its related to the install on 'Duke'

1. any form of the 'vlookup' without the left multiply value was O.K.
2. multiply a constant with 'vlookup' was O.K.
3. multiply 'value(...)' with 'vlookup' failed.
  NOTE: re-opening the file did not go through 'recovery'.
4. I copied the file to 'King", and the very simplest 'vlookup' copy failed.
5. re-opened the file on 'King', saved the file and closed LO.
  NOTE: re-opening the file DOES go through 'recovery'.
6. re-opened the file on 'King' and all cells copied down O.K.
7. copied that file back to 'Duke' and the simplest 'vlookup' now fails

NOTE: Since the release version of Kubuntu does NOT include LO 3.5.x, the
install on all 3 machines was done following the instructions on:
http://www.webupd8.org/2012/02/install-to-libreoffice-350-in-ubuntu.html

at this point, I will re-install LO on 'Duke' to see if the problem goes away -
it appears, however, that somehow the error cause gets carried in the file but
gets fixed when a 'recovery' occurs. don't know why 'Duke' does not do the
'recovery'

But it is still not fixed.

The FilePicker is one of the most used functions in Macros, Extensions, and

I just add Bug 32886 - "recent documents list always blank with libreoffice"
because it it quite annoying (it blocks an useful function also to first use
users), it is a regression and it has been pointed out that cleaning the (linux
only?) LibreOffice profile directory (~/.config/libreoffice/) solve the
problem.

I also confirm that I had the same problem with:

- LibreOffice 3.5.1 both RC1 and RC2, linux, x86-64, RPM packages;
- on OpenSuSE 12.1, linux, x86-64, kernel-desktop 3.1.10-8;
- using kernel built-in nouveau nvidia driver;
- Intel Centrino EM64T dual core;
- nVidia GeForce 9500M GS with 512 kbyte dedicated video memory.

As Mark already said, I solve the trouble renaming my profile directory that I
carry me on since OpenOffice.org... ;-)

So the problem disappear renaming / deleting the LibreOffice profile directory:
~/.config/libreoffice/3

simply in
~/.config/libreoffice/3.old

and letting LibreOffice creating a new clean one!

Thanks for the tip. However, it doesn't work on my machine even in your file.
For instance,

1 I loaded your test case document;
2 I triple-click into the first line and press CTRL-B to make it all bold;
3 I click once onto the "i." and the grey highlighting appears;
4a What DOES work is then right-click and "Clear direct formatting";
4b What does NOT work is then changing the format to anything. For instance,
when I change the color to green, nothing happens, neither to the numbering nor
to the "Asdfz".

Strange ...

In order to simplify testing and working with different versions,
there should be a option for parallel-installation in the installation-menu.
It would be great, to have a check-box or option-button,
to select parallel-installation right in the installation-menu.
And to round this function up there should be a option,
to import the user-settings from a older version if you chose
parallel-installation.

The crash also happens on all my machines (all Windows 7 64bit).

Perhaps your Linux-based version does not have the bug.

Created attachment 58270
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=58270
sample text with '0x0A' alone at end of paragraph.

When I take a text from Internet (a manual,a user guide, etc.) I like to get it
nicely formatted before reading it (yes, I am quite *pernickety)*, so I usually
maka these settings(I will translate the italian menu options, so they may not
correspond exactly to the English ones):

Format -> Paragraph -> "Paragraph" tab -> First line = 0,5 cm
  After paragraph = 0.2 cm

   "Alignment" tab -> Justified

Often the end of paragraph is marked only by char. 0x0A (LF), instead of the
pair 0x0D0A (CR-LF); this makes also the last paragraph line to get right
justified, even when it is only made by two words, that are placed one leftside
and the other rightside.

With the previous versions I fixed these last lines while reading the text, but
the LO 3.5, with texts of 10 - 15 pages takes a huge time to accomplish these
steps

1. get the "End" key;
2. jump to EOL;
3. get the "ENTER" key;
4. left alignment;
5. skip to new line - CR-LF;
6. get the "Del" key;
7. deletion of the old mew line - LF.

I think steps 5 and 7 make the full following text to be managed - even if out
of screen, since as nearer ve are to the EOT, as shorter are times.

I uninstalled the standard edition and installed *the Suse/Intel version* to
try it. *Result: IT WORKS FINE!!!*

I attach a sample text with '0x0A' alone at end of paragraph.

Strange, I can't reproduce my successful test I did in the morning. Now it's
reproducible with all LibO Versions I tested on WIN7 64 bit (including Master
3.6). May be my lots of tests with various versions, profiles, ... die some
faith healing :-/

Seems inherited from OOo, because OOo 3.3 and OOo 3.4 show the same problem.

Works fine with OOo 3.1.1

Works fine With LibO 3.5 IWN XP 32bit on VirtualBox

Something strange I remember from my tests in the morning is that I saw "C:\"
in the file dialog Path pane instead the normal "> Computer > Local HD (C:) >
", what ever that might explain.

Using URL syntax "file:///C:/" will work, but not heal the problem with the WIN
dialog.

I think this may related to remnants of an older installation hanging around.

1. I completely uninstalled all versions of libreoffice: ran the libreoffice
uninstaller, deleted the libreoffice folders in my user profile, and deleted
the libreoffice folder in my program files directory.

2.  Next, I reinstalled libreoffice 3.5rc2.

3. I opened the same database as before in base, and now the report wizard
appears to work.

It might be a good idea to look at the installer files to make sure they
remove/update all older or unneeded files during installation.

Hello

I tested it with Lo 3.4.5 portable(German), and LO 3.5.0 RC2 (on win7 premium
64bit German)
and with both versions the bug is still there.

The FilePicker is one of the most used functions in Macros, Extensions, and
Templates.
and therefore this bug should be fixed soon.

@Rainer Bielefeld:
It was and is absolutely correct, that I selected "New" for the Status,
because this Bug needed to be fixed at the time I wrote the report,
and it still needs to be fixed.
But you are wrong, putting the State to "resolved".
Up to now nobody fixed this bug, so I really doubt, that you tested it
correctly.
Are you sure, that you used the Windows-dialogs, and not the
LibreOffice-diaogs?

On pc Debian x86-64, I don't reproduce this problem neither on 3.5 branch (so
not exactly 3.5.0 or 3.5.1 rc1, commit :
a1091d0dbddaf59d8e5dba74e7c7a2bbd9778e06) nor on master (commit
:137b53e0e2763d41c43e62ecc85b38d7f3cb71f7)

java version "1.6.0_24"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11pre) (6b24~pre2-1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)

Could you precise your Java version ? (there's pb with Java 7 for example).
Did you try to remove/backup your LO profile and test again ?

[Reproducible] with reporter's sample and "LibreOffice 3.4.6 RC1 German UI
[Build ID: OOO340m1 (Build:601)]" parallel Server installation on German WIN7
Home Premium (64bit).

Cahnging to sheet with charts makes LibO unusable slow.

Also with 3.3.0 and 3.5.2, OOo 3.3
So inherited from OOo

Worked fine with OOo 3.1.1

@glepp...@gmx.de
Although used as gantt chart, it's quite a normal Stacked Bar chart?

This is not a valid bug report, does not contain any useful information, so
closed.

@reporter:
Please feel free to reopen this bug if you find out that the problem still
exists with the current stable LibreOffice version and if you can contribute
requested additional information

May be hints on will help you to
find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you
believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing
list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a sample document (not only screenshot)
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
  problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
  into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
  mouse click how to reproduce your problem (due to example in Bug 43431)
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
  -- what EXACTLY is unexpected
  -- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
  -- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
  -- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
  -- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language, Locale
setting)
  –- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
(video hardware acceleration ...)
  -- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
  -- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Even if you can not provide all demanded information, every little new
information might bring the breakthrough.

Just for the information, I'm on 3.2.0-1-amd64 but I don't think it's linked
(perhaps I'm wrong ?)

- could you try a simple VLOOKUP formula (without FIND or LEN, just the minimum
to test)
- Have you got specific extensions ? (if yes, could you uninstall them just for
the test)
- Did you install libreoffice-kde ? (if yes could you uninstall it and try
again)
- did it work with a previous version of LO ?
- is it a brand new document ? If not, could you try with a brand new doc ?
- if 3.5.0 is an update for each of your 3 pcs, could you uninstall with
apt-get remove --purge (or graphical equivalent), remove or backup your LO
profile (in ~/.config/libreoffice and/or ~/.libreoffice, check both) then
install again and try to reproduce (just on 1 pc for the moment) ?

If still nothing, could you install the libreofflibreoffice-dbg to have more
logs and test again ?

In advance, thank you for help.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47177] New: : Windows XP with Java 7, base doesn't work

2012-03-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47177

 Bug #: 47177
   Summary: : Windows XP with Java 7, base doesn't work
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 RC2
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: moglivonw...@t-online.de

Problem description:
On Windows XP SP3 32 bit with Java 7u3, in LibreOffice (3.5.0 and 3.5.1 RC2)
one can't work with base. The error window told me, that Java is broken. (But
that's not the problem, because the rest of LibreOffice and our Java compilers
work well.)

The same - only use Java 6u31 instead of 7u3 - all works well. This happens on
three different hardware in my school.

Again the same - only use Windows 7 instead of Windows XP - all (with Java 7)
works well.

Thus, it's a problem of Win XP, Java 7 or LibreOffice base

Steps to reproduce:
1. In LibreOffice choose for Java a JRE 7 version. Restart LO.
2. In base, open a new database
3. Select the Icon "Tables" in the left view.
   The Error occured.

Without activating Java, base won't work properly.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Win XP SP3 32 bit, Java 7

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101
