Yes! You are right! It is a duplicate to the mentioned bug. THough I don't use
the beta. It's the final 3.5.0 on Kubuntu 64bit.

By reading through the duplicate bug I've understood that it is easy to work
around by selcting the frame and pressing Enter ...

thx a lot!

The way values are obtained when Proxy server is System is platform
specific. For Windows, the code is in the directory
shell/source/backends/wininetbe/. However, finding out why it crashes and/or
delivers garbage likely requires a proper debugger and debuggable code (see

Word-2010 and Writer-3.5.2 are open the DOCX-file

You have almost solved the problem open the formula as the OLE-object formula
in the form of the OLE Math object
(libreoffice-3-5~2012-03-09_13.41.25_LibO-Dev_3.5.2rc0_Win_x86/Win-x86@6-fast;
the file 16b.docx). But there is one problem: it is necessary to delete a
single character - is once an object that is created for some reason when you
open the 16b.docx (see the attachment). The long-formula will fail if the
user does not delete the delta. But this does not solve the problem with
proekt_MU, containing both types of formulas: by the Word-2003 and by the
Word-2010.

Thanks for so long and interesting comment. I agree that such functionality is
useful. IMHO such functionality, at least partially, can be written on Basic
macro.
Please, search among existing extensions for OpenOffice and LibreOffice. May be
something with such functionality already exist.

And something like this already exist in LibreOffice, when Extended tooltips
enabled, Writer shows formatting in tooltip.

For anyone who works with scanned documents, OCR ...
I save document in rtf format and then reload it again. Most of unuseful
formatting are lost, and remaining is more easy to edit.

Problem description:

It is possible to type in a font, that is not installed on your system (= fancy
name) without a message. Especially in order to avoid a mistyping of the font
name, I would expect a message The font XYZ is not installed on your system.
LibreOffice will use the font ABC instead for displaying and printing. Shall
this be done? or similar.

This message should be displayed at all positions where you can type in the
font name directly. In Writer I found these positions:
- Tool bar 'Formatting'
- Format - Character... - tab 'Font'
- Modifying character styles, tab 'Font'
- Modifying paragraph styles, tab 'Font'

Another point in this conjunction: If an uninstalled font is used, a message
This font has not been installed. The closest available font will be used. is
displayed in the tab 'Font'. To my opinion this is not really correct. How
shall LO know what the closest available font is? Better: ... been installed.
LibreOffice will use the font XYZ for displaying and printing.. Similar as in
bug 44376 proposed, this message also could be marked in red.

Observed in V. 3.4.5 and 3.5.0.

See also bug 44376, which has a similar intention.

I tried to reset the cell format of the whole Spreadsheed, thru selecting an
not formatted cell and using the 'format paintbrush' tool on the whole table.

To reproduce this bug, do as follows:

- Open Libreoffice
- create new empty Spreadsheed or use any existing Spreadsheed
- select an random cell (empty or nonempty, formatted or unformatted)
- Click the 'format paintbrush' symbol
- Click the left top corner in the table header (selecting all cells)
- use the still active 'format paintbrush' tool an any cell

surprise, openoffice hangs, cpu is at 100%

to format all cells 65536*256=16776960 takes it's time, but when the user
triggers an operation like this, may it be possible to warn or block an action
like this.

For new files LO always selects Printer Language Type as PDF.
The problem is also evident when I try to print two portait pages on a single

On any existing file once the Printer Language Type has been changed it is
remembered.

For me the new PDF Printer Language Type is the problem.

Screen shot with bug.

Problem description:

If you use the Option LibreOffice Fonts Apply replacement table in order
to replace fonts the character width is not adjusted to the replacement fonts.
In order to reproduce the bug do:
[1] Start with no font replacements and open a new text document,
[2] Choose a font with a small character width (e.g. Linux Libertine G) and
type in some text,
[3] Replace this font by a font with broad characters (e.G. Engravers MT):
Tools Options... LibreOffice Fonts Apply replacement table. Result see
Attachment.

Problem also exists if you print the document.

But with:
[1] Start with no font replacements and open a new text document,
[2] Replace a font with small characters (e.g. Linux Libertine G) by a font
with broad characters (e.G. Engravers MT): Tools Options... LibreOffice
Fonts Apply replacement table,
[3] Choose the font with small characters and type in some text,
the result is OK!

Problem also observed with Draw. (In my system there is a problem with Linux
Libertine G in Draw. Perhaps it is better to use another font.)

Problem observed with Version 3.4.5 and 3.5.0.

See also bug 43185.

Catching this with procdump is a hassle, because this feature crashes or do not
crash at all when procdump is run in the background, or proxy settings (and
other options) are not displayed at all. After many triesI managed to catch
this one on LibreOffice 3.5.1rc2 (Windows 7 SP1 64 bit) (unfortunately no

I also show this bug in 3.5.0 on Windows. In addition to making selection with
a mouse annoying, this bug causes problems when exporting a selection.

For example, attempt to export the network diagram attachment to a .PNG. Use
CTRL+A to select the entire diagram, and note the location of the bounding box.
Then use export and check the selection option. The resulting image will
contain extraneous empty space.

exactly with my RC1-RC2 update, I doubt that anydy else will have exactly this

problem; I did a backup of my old profile if it seems useful to do further

Problem description:

To reproduce the problem:

[1] Start LibreOffice and open a new text document.
[2] Tools Options... LibreOffice Writer Basic Fonts (Western)
[3] Click Default. These fonts are now displayed: Times New Roman, Arial, 3
times Times New Roman.
[4] In order to display the installed fonts click on the down arrow of the
Default font.
[5] Type in a letter. A font beginning with this letter is displayed. This font
is also displayed for the Index font. The other 3 basic fonts are covered with
the font list.
[6] 'Esc' or click into the Default font field: The Default font changes back
to Times New Roman. But the font for Index does not change back and also the
fonts for List and Caption get the same wrong font like the Index font.
Expected behaviour: Font Times New Roman for Default, List, Caption and
Index.
[7] OK or Cancel.
[8] Open options dialog again. Displayed fonts: Times New Roman, Arial, 3 times
Times New Roman. This means only the display is wrong, the fonts have not been
changed.

Thanks for additional testing. It is because used Roman numbers. With Arabic
numbers it works. But with Roman numbers not works and even if change to
Arabic, it still not works.
IMHO it is a bug. When I select list with Roman numbers, change attributes and
see on undo button, I see that attributes changed. But nothing changed.
In msWord 2003 formatting of list works as described in comment 3.

It'd be great to get the registrymodifications.xcu file from both the old and
new settings directories, to see if we can compare them see what's up there.

Thanks ! :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33791] Print system fails to use or allow user to select correct paper size for printing

2012-03-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33791

--- Comment #8 from kgumerl...@gmail.com 2012-03-12 07:41:33 PDT ---
This problem has existed in LibreOffice now for quite some time, and as I
understand it, could be a regression from as early as OOo 3.1.

Steps to reproduce:
System: Mac OS X 10.7.3 (this bug does not affect Windows systems, apparently)
Printer: Lexmark E260dn, (observed with other printers as well)
LO version: 3.5.0rc3

1. Open Writer, New Document
2. Format - Page, Page tab, in the Format drop-down select #10 Envelope
3. File - Print, Show Details, then in the details drop-down, select Paper
Handling
4. Notice that Destination Paper Size reads Suggested Paper: followed by
whatever is set as the Default paper size: under OS X System Preferences -
Print Scan
5. Attempting to change the output tray under Paper Feed in the Print Dialog
to a tray that has #10 Envelope loaded results in the dialog The Media Source
option, [tray name], is not available when the destination paper size is set to
[system default paper size]. To scale to fit to Envelope Monarch, click
Continue. To keep Media Source at its current setting, click Cancel.
6. Clicking Continue at the previous dialog results in, under Paper
Handling, Scale to fit paper size being checked, and the Destination Paper
Size drop-down is enabled. However, when printing, the output is the image of
a #10 envelope projected on to a sheet of paper, then *scaled* down (rather
than cropped) to fit a #10 envelope.

Using US Letter as a default paper size under OS X, here are the correlations
between sizes selected in the Format - Page menu in Writer and the resulting
Suggested Paper sizes in the Print dialog:

A6 - A6
A5 - A5
A4 - A4
A3 - US Legal
B6 - US Letter
B5 (ISO) - B5
B4 (ISO) - US Letter
Letter - US Letter
Legal - US Legal
Long Bond - US Letter
Tabloid - US Legal
B6 (JIS) - US Letter
B5 (JIA) - JIS B5
B4 (JIS) - US Legal
16 Kai - JIS B5
32 Kai - A5
Big 32 Kai - A5
DL Envelope - US Letter
C6 Envelope - A6
C6/5 Envelope - US Letter
C5 Envelope - US Letter
C4 Envelope - US Letter
#6 3/4 (Personal) Envelope - A6
#8 (Monarch) Envelope - US Letter
#9 Envelope - US Letter
#10 Envelope - US Letter
#11 Envelope - US Letter
#12 Envelope - US Letter

Here are all the sizes currently defined in my system, as selectable in the
Default paper size drop-down in System Preferences - Print Scan:
US Letter
US Legal
A4
A5
JIS B5
B5
Envelope #10
Envelope DL
Tabloid
A3
Tabloid Oversize
ROC 16K
Envelope Choukei 3
Super B/A3

OS X seems to have a system-wide Page Setup dialog that is normally found
under File - Page Setup (implemented in e.g. Firefox), with system-wide
defined paper sizes. MS Word 2011 also implements this feature, and changes in
page size are expected to be made there, rather than in any Word-specific
Format dialog. I believe that the solution to this bug rests somewhere in
implementing the system's Page Setup dialog.

Document crashing LibO 3.5 on opening and printing/preview

The file in attachment is a simple document, with a couple of low resolution
images in two pages, that crashes repeatedly LibO 3.5, running on Win7pro x64.
When opening the file everything seems to be fine for some time, then opening
the dialog for printing, after a successful preview, swriter crashes. Can
happen in a few seconds or in a few tens, fiddling a bit with printer
selection, or just waiting.
After the crash I'm offered the dialog telling how the file will be saved for
restoration on next run, but even that dialog crashes (not responding to Ok
button or close one).
The file has been created with LibO 3.4 on a different machine, running
WinXPpro x32, where it shows no problems.
Can anybody confirm it's not local to my installation?

Problem description: When styling text as superscript, the font width is
altered, and the text gets squished.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Write some text in Impress
2. Select it
3. Right-click, select Character
4. Go to the Position tab
5. Select Superscript
6. Click OK

Current behavior: Text is squished. To restore it to normal size, I need to go
back to the Character→Position tab and adjust Scale width in inverse
proportion to the Relative font size entry. For example, with Relative font
size set to 58%, I need to set Scale width to 172% (1/0.58*100) so that the
aspect ratio of the font gets normal again.

Expected behavior: I expected the aspect ratio to remain the same, with Scale
width set to 100%.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47246] New: EasyHack: Remove the duplicate linked objects in gbuild

2012-03-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47246

 Bug #: 47246
Summary: EasyHack: Remove the duplicate linked objects in
gbuild
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bjoern.michael...@canonical.com

Duplicate linked objects are do not have to be a deadly problem, but they can
introduce very hard to debug problems. As we set stuff like compile flags and
include paths on the linktarget (aka the library) and in the above case the
object file is linked in by two libraries, the flags it is compiled with are
actually nondeterministic. That is Very Bad(tm)!

So the smoketest/smoketest.cxx will either be compiled with the CFLAGS of
Library/libsmoketest.so or with those of CppunitTest/libtest_smoketest.so --
actually it can be compiled different on different machines with the same code.
It can even be compiled different on the same machine! So again: This is Very
Bad(tm) and we should probably never ever have let that happen.

Now it might be possible that the one doing the initial migration carefully
checked that both libs are compiled exactly the same on all platforms (I highly
doubt that), but even then this totally unproof against future changes. Someone
might innocently add a define to the compile flags of one library and create a
terribly hard to reproduce heisenbug.

So this has to go, it should never have been there in the first place. How can
this be removed?

There are two possibilities:
a) create a smoketest/smoketest_libtest_smoketest.cxx with this content:

#include smoketest.cxx

and then use that file instead of smoketest/smoketest.cxx in
CppunitTest/libtest_smoketest. That way, the object gets build twice (with
possibly different flags and defines) and everything is fine.
   Ugly, but does the job.
b) create a static library smoketest and add the smoketest/smoketest.cxx to it.
Now instead link that static library into both of the dynamic ones and
   everything is fine.

Once all the warnings are gone, we should probably make gbuild abort if it
detects one of those.

hi Bjoern,

thanks for writing this description for why these warnings are bad,
but i'm afraid i've fixed most of these today before you even filed this bug.

well, perhaps some are still around that don't happen on Linux
or require some esoteric configuration to trigger...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47250] New: Writer crashes editing table's properties

2012-03-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47250

 Bug #: 47250
Summary: Writer crashes editing table's properties
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 RC2
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: blocker
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: rans...@gwdg.de

Insert a table in a document, mark some cells and then try to get the context
menu (in order to change the formatting, borders etc.): LO crashes immediately.
I assume that this affects a core function of writer - blocker. With this bug,
the table-function is unusable.

2012-03-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 47252
Summary: FILESAVE: cross-references do not export well to DOCX
file
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: a...@trigonic.com

Added cross-reference links in an ODT file to numbered paragraphs earlier in
the document using Reference. In Writer, this shows up as the name of the
paragraph being referenced. These look fine until exported to DOCX.

Opening the DOCX file back in Writer shows the reference text as
__RefNumPara__173_1178930885. Typing around these refs in Writer appears to
fix them.

Looking at the DOCX archive, word/document.xml appears to actually have the
reference ID as text:

w:rw:rPr/w:fldChar w:fldCharType=begin//w:r
w:rw:instrText REF __RefNumPara__173_1178930885 \h /w:instrText/w:r

Does it crash even without opening any document before ? the answer is NO
Does it crash when you close after creating a brand new document or
does it crash when you close after opening a specific document ? (if yes,
  could
you attach it). the answer is YES so it gave me the idea to save the
document as... and from there none of the two documents make the
  application crash again!

  What's your MacOS version ? LION 10.7.3
Hope it will remain like this!
Many thanks and all the best
 Harry

So I change the status to RESOLVED/WORKSFORME. Don't hesitate to revert if you

Should I close this bug report? The reported file has never been downloaded by
anyone, so I guess no one cares.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47254] New: Adobe Pro Optical Fonts scrambled in LibreOffice font list (Spanish Langpack)

2012-03-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47254

 Bug #: 47254
Summary: Adobe Pro Optical Fonts scrambled in LibreOffice font
list (Spanish Langpack)
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: cardenas.marcel...@yahoo.com

Created attachment 58346
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=58346
Figure 1

Pro Optical fonts are collections of fonts that include up to 32 optical size
variants for the caption, regular, subhead and display character sizes.

So, for example, the 'Caption' size would include: '(regular) Caption', 'Light
Caption', 'Italic Caption', 'Light Italic Caption', 'Bold Caption', 'Semibold
Caption', 'Bold Italic Caption' and 'Semibold Italic Caption'; so on for the
other size variants.

(I'm using the Jenson font family for this example.) In the attachment (Figure
1), The 'Character' panel shows the 'Adobe Jenson Pro (regular)' font family
selected. You can see, also, that below the selection there're more Jenson font
variants available, such as 'Pro Capt', 'Pro Disp', etc.

The 'typeface' area is however showing the 'caption' option selected when it
should be showing the 'regular' option instead. Note that the 'regular' option
is not present on this list, nor anywhere else (in the spanish langpack this
one would appear as the 'predeterminada' option).

So, the content is scrambled. I've noted that something similar occurs when
using Libre Office in English, too.

This bug doesn't prevent using the font, but prevents using the font correctly
in the document; that's the issue.

@Rainer Bielefeld - not sure if I should download other versions of office so
that I can confirm those results too? What would be helpful in dealing with
this bug?
