[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48278] New: UI: Input line does not adjust TO screen DPI and cuts off buttom of text

2012-04-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48278

 Bug #: 48278
Summary: UI: Input line does not adjust TO screen DPI and cuts
off buttom of text
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 RC2
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: mournbl...@gmx.us

When I first open an existing document the input line is too narrow and cuts
off the bottom of the text. If I click the button to open up multi-line input
mode, and then click it again to return to single-line input mode, it re-sized
the line to the correct size, and works OK from that point on.

My system is set to run at the monitor's correct dpi of 105, not the default 96
dpi that everyone at libreoffice seems to use and test against. I've had
problems in the past with openoffice not adjusting the input line for dpi other
than 96 in the past, and it appears the problem as resurfaced.

It appears that that code to make the proper adjustment already exists and
works properly when it is applied (ie. after making some change that triggers a
refresh like opening and closing multi-line edi), but someone forgot to trigger
it on initial program open and/or file load.

Looks ok with "LibreOffice Portable 3.3.0 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German
UI [OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4]" (no obvious differences to
view in Oo 3.3)

Might be related to a row hight calculation problem or similar. Picture in E16
has hight 5,9mm in 3.5.2 and is located as x/y 43,25mm/78,28mm
With Portable 3.3.0
hight 5.39 and is located as x/y 43.43mm/78.46mm

Some further research will be required

sorry for not putting in english - I thought as it has to do with the german
localization it's mostly a german issue.
When trying to dock the toolbox "Tasks", Impress is crashing. Either trying to
dock it with the "dock" button or drag and drop it to it's position. This
happened with the german localization. Changing the user interface language to
english: it worked without crash.
Afterwards I could change back to german localization and the toolbox was still
at it's docked position.

On My PC Page numbering in source document (with "LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 German
UI/Locale [Build-ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f] on German WIN7
Home Premium (64bit)) and in PDF is very different, so it's hard to find where
the problem might be.

I find a footnote Number 24 at Text "The confession of Bohemia, or the
Waldenses" what appears in Source document and PDF.

Footnote 25 at text "This idea was advanced by Flaccus Illyricus", in source on
same page together with footnotes 26-28

NOT reproducible with a.m. LibO version, PDF-A1 export showed Footnotes 25-28
as they should look. Same good result printing to FreePDF.

Export and PDF print also worked fine from 3.5.0RC2. So closing WFM.

mouse click how to reproduce your problem (due to example in Bug 43431).
That will explain what "Print to PDF" might mean. do you use a PDF printer
  or did you export?
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
  -- concerning your PC
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)

I am going to look into that.

But that has nothing to do with this bug report, now, does it?

I remember something like that now. I'm just getting a bit old and start
forgetting things ;)

I agree that this would need a real unit test and I think we can easily write
one for that. I will look into it. I think in this case it even makes a lot of
sense to write the tests now before actually implementing the code.

I fear that this code is not testable by ucalc because it needs vcl and the
view part of sc. So our best shot on testing this is writing a real unit test.
We should get a good test for this by mocking ScDocument (at least a part) and
moving as much functionality for this behavior into an own class that has only
dependencies to ScDocument.

2012-04-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45020

--- Comment #5 from Kohei Yoshida 2012-04-03 19:08:52
PDT ---
It's a bug. Hidden cells should always be treated as if they don't exist when
expanding selection.

Having said that, this cursor navigation code has become such a complex monster
we need to refactor it so that we can guard it with a decent amount of unit
tests. Otherwise it would be extremely hard to avoid introducing another
regression when fixing a bug (any bug) in this code. I believe we talked about
this briefly before when we were talking about some unit test areas (with me,
you and Eike).

When expanding selection or navigating the cell cursor, we need to factor in:

1) hidden rows/columns
2) protected areas
3) merged cells
4) modifier keys (shift / ctrl / both)

So, one has to check all these possibilities when modifying the cursor
navigation code. And from my own experience it's way too easy to introduce
regressions in this code...

I had the same problem (3.5.2RC2)!

Renaming/deleting the user save data directory as you suggest, fixes this
problem!

I suppose it is a problem caused by old configuation data, left over from a
previous (<3.5) version - that breaks the formula editor when you upgrade
versions. (Uninstalling then reinstalling LibO did not help).

(I am running WinXP 64-bit... not even a mac)

Anyway I'm glad it works for me now... thank you! :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47542] : Crashes during conversion from doc or xls documents into odf formats

2012-04-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47542

17:39:21 PDT ---
I upgraded my 64 bit machines to Ubuntu beta 12.04, and the crashes still
occur. Ubuntu has now a nice bug tracking and reporting systems both files that
caused the crash reported above as crashing Linux Mint 11 and 12 caused a
SIGSEGV error under Ubuntu 12.04. The full dump of data on the crashes appears
under Ubuntu bug tracking system as bugs 971601 (produced with the doc file)
and 971620 (produced with the xls file). SIGSEGV means an illegal memory
reference occurred in both cases. Illegal memory references could be
constructed into security breaches, so the bug is not only a nuance but a
potential security risk.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 30732] [EasyHack] Character formatting not retained in entries of TOC, table lists, etc.

2012-04-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30732

--- Comment #15 from Owen Genat 2012-04-03 17:26:04 PDT
---
(In reply to comment #5)
> In fact, the ability to not only accept, but also to _ignore_ some
> formatting (line breaks to create two line headings comes to my mind)
> will be very important.

I am not sure I agree with this however it does highlight a difficult aspect to
the issue. Any multi-line heading containing Unicode Line Breaking Algorithm
properties, such as

Mandatory Break (BK) http://unicode.org/reports/tr14/#BK
Non-breaking (GL) http://unicode.org/reports/tr14/#GL
Word Joiner (WJ) http://unicode.org/reports/tr14/#WJ

should have those properties respected (mirrored) in the TOC. The difficulty,
as I understand it, is that the TOC is simply a form of x-ref and some of these
properties (e.g., BK) would not be appropriate in an in-text x-ref.

(In reply to comment #11)
> Manual formatting should be respected

This is essentially the main problem I have tried to illustrate. The aspect of
respecting character styles (superscript, italic, etc.) would seem less an
issue.

To cite properly:

"Optical Center is the spot that the eye sees when it first encounters a page.
The optical center is slightly above the mathematical center of the page. It
takes a compelling object indeed to pull the eyes away from it. The optical
center is the starting point."

Optical center is closely related to golden ratio and golden ratio is afaik
most used way to construct it. The difference between geometric and optical
center can be seen on this picture:
 (optical center is
green)

There are also some slightly different ways to construct it:

Following picture shows one of them:

I use MSVC 2008 Express on WinXP. This comes without ATL. Therefore I have got
the needed files by installing "Windows Driver Kit Version 7.1.0". That gives a
folder WinDDK, which contains in some subfolders the four files. But these are
not found by configure, but it sets the paths which would be correct for a
professional MSVC.

I have tweaked the result file configure_host_mk to get my build. But that is
not persistent. For example after a "pull" and "make build" configure
overwrites it.

My wish is, to get the possibility to tell configure the paths to this four
files. Perhaps we can get a more generic parameter for configure, which reads a
text file with the parameters and there values? But any working solution is
appreciated.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48259] New: ooowintool does not recognize files in external\msm90

2012-04-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48259

 Bug #: 48259
Summary: ooowintool does not recognize files in external\msm90
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

During configure the part ooowintool tries to copy the files
Microsoft_VC90_CRT_x86.msm
and
policy_9_0_Microsoft_VC90_CRT_x86.msm
from
/cygdrive/C/Program Files/Common Files/Merge Modules/Microsoft_VC90_CRT_x86.msm
to
external\msm90

There are bugs with this
(1)
README_msm90.txt in external\msm90 tells that the files ... have to be copied
into this folder. I have done this, but ooowintool does not notice that the
files are already there and tries to copy them.
(2)
ooowintool expects the files in Program Files/Common Files/Merge Modules. But I
have a German WinXP and that folder does not exist. But on a German WinXP it is
C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Merge Modules
(3)
Although I have set the configure option --enable-dbgutil ooowintool copies
only the normal *CRT* files, but not the debug files *DebugCRT*.

Configure fails because of this bug. I have workaround this bug by creating the
folder and subfolder Program Files/Common Files/Merge Modules and copying the

Classification: Unclassified

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: BASIC
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

The basic/ module contains a number of unpleasant explicit prototypes, eg.

git grep -5 implGetWeek

that should be grouped into an internal header in basic/source/inc (I expect) -
if a suitable one doesn't exist, then we should add a new one :-)

Thanks !

Summary: EasyHack: clean out Hide/Show Cursor ...
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice

  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: michael.me...@novell.com

In the bad old days of calc, everything was rendered explicitly to the screen,
and then the cursor was rendered over the top using XOR rendering. To get this
right, before we rendered new things we would need to call:

HideCursor();
// do the incremental render
ShowCursor();

These days, we should never do that - all rendering should be done in response
to an idle handler, and should paint from scratch instead of trying to be
'clever' like this (it will increasingly not work & just waste resources on
modern systems).

So - we need to audit the code for these Hide/Show pairs. Clearly some
instances of hiding the cursor are prolly still applicable, but we should check
all of them in sc/ 'git grep -5 HideCursor' - and remove and re-test all
instances.

Potentially we want to add some calls to Invalidate() on the cursor region when
this causes problems :-)

Thanks !

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39829] Error handling decimal separator in csv import

2012-04-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #3 from Eike Rathke 2012-04-03 09:26:51 PDT ---
Could you please elaborate what exactly you mean by "correct decimal
separator was selected via UI hacks"?

Reading a CSV file that contains 0.992 in a LibO that runs with the
French (France) locale works if in the import dialog either
a) Language is set to English (USA), or
b) column type is set to US English

Both methods for me yield the numeric value 0,992
Also, the preview always displays the raw 0.992 value, not 0,992
This in LibO 3.5.0 and 3.4.5

Expected: newly created slide has the same layout as already existing
Actually: layout is different. Especially on 3.5.1: on "Slides" pane all slides

The menu item 'recent documents' never populates with recently-opened documents
in any LibreOffice program. May be related to LibreOffice always opening in
the folder in which it was first opened, regardless of most-current or most
recently opened folder. This behavior has been consistent from LibO 3.5.2 RC1.
This feature worked in all prior versions of LibO used on this machine.

This behavior was observed on a homebuilt system with ASUS M4A89TD Pro/USB3
motherboard with an AMB Phenom II X6 T1000 six-core processor running at an
unaccelerated 3.30 GHz, 16 Gb RAM, Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit OS.

In sal/inc/sal/types.h, we have:

/* Historical macros, no need to use, old use cases should be replaced
 * by their expansions.
 */
#ifdef __cplusplus
#define SAL_CONST_CAST(type, expr) (const_cast< type >(expr))
#define SAL_STATIC_CAST(type, expr) (static_cast< type >(expr))
#endif /* __cplusplus */

Do what it says.

I.e., for each instance of SAL_CONST_CAST(xxx, yyy), replace it with
const_cast( yyy ). Similar for SAL_STATIC_CAST. Hopefully by using a
clever Perl one-liner, or something, and not by editing manually...

Thanks for bugreport
I can reproduce this only on 3.4.3 on Windows XP:
When I add video to slide, then select it, add effect "Play" in Custom
Animation pane, select it ant choose "Start on click", then after press F5
video begins immediately, then after click begins again.

version 3.5.1 always hangs on Windows XP and 7. On Fedora 64 bit video and
audio not works at all in all versions.

In comparison: in msPP 2003 when we use Insert->Sound and video->from file,
program asks: Play automatically or by mouse click? After click on either,
automatically creates several effects on pane "Custom animation". By changing
them, we can adjust how video will be played.

PS: in OpenOffice before 3.3.1 situation with video was slightly better, but I
have forgotten how exactly it was.

stoc/source/inspect/introspection.cxx the lifecycle of ImplIntrospectionAdapter
and ImplIntrospectionAccess looks troublesome to me.

Seeing as ImplIntrospectionAdapter has a mpAccess of ImplIntrospectionAccess*
presumably the ImplIntrospectionAdapter should add a reference to its mpAccess
ImplIntrospectionAccess so that it can enforce the existance of mpAccess so
that in

reportdesign/source/core/sdr/UndoEnv.cxx

if ( m_pImpl->m_xIntrospection.is() )
{
Reference< XIntrospectionAccess > xIntrospection(
m_pImpl->m_xIntrospection->inspect( makeAny(
_rEvent.Source ) ),
UNO_SET_THROW
);
rObjectInfo.xPropertyIntrospection.set(
xIntrospection->queryAdapter( XPropertySet::static_type() ), UNO_QUERY_THROW );
}

the result of queryAdapter, which still references xIntrospection as its
mpParent, will retain a reference to it so that it doesn't point to junk, as
happens at the moment with xIntrospection goes out of scope.
