Please consider adding a setting which informs the update server that the user
wants to update to RC versions (like Mozilla does).

This would be a deliberate choice from the user (all other users would be by
default in the Stable update channel)

This setting will allow a user to update e.g. from 3.5.1.2 (regardless of if it
is the previous stable version or any previous RC) to 3.5.2.2 (again regardless
of the release status)

Image for product ID. Scaled wrong by LibO Draw 3.5.2 when exported as EPS.

I created an image in Open Office Draw two or three years ago. I brought it
into LibO Draw 3.4 and did some editing. When I export it as an EPS file
(Encapsulated Postscript), either in LibO Draw 3.4 or LibO Draw 3.5.2, then
look at it in GIMP and other EPS viewers, the image as viewed and printed is
about 10% larger than it should be.

I have Open Office 3.3 on my computer, so I loaded the same image into OO Draw
3.3 and then exported it as an EPS file. When I view that file in GIMP, it is
the correct size.

If I use LibO 3.4 or 3.5.2 to export the image as a PDF file, the image is
correctly scaled and rendered using Adobe Reader to view the pdf.

Why did you set the status to REOPENED when this bug has not been closed?
Instead, please provide a non modified RTF file produced by Oracle Report.

Please do not change version number, it gives the first version in which the

Example of MSOffice 2007 rtf file, corrupted by LibreOffice 3.5.2 (and older
versions) and a result file

Create a document in Microsoft Office 2007 SP3, write in it a single line of
text, save as RTF (Example 4 Step 1.rtf). Exit Microsoft Office 2007 SP3.
Open the document in LibreOffice 3.5.2 (or earlier version). Copy this line of
text and paste it into document, to get two identical lines of text one after
another. Again, re-save document in RTF format (Example 4 Step 2.rtf). Exit
LibreOffice. Try to open file "Example 4 Step 2.rtf" using the Microsoft Office
2007 SP3. File does not open, says that it is corrupted. Try to open file
"Example 4 Step 2.rtf" using LibreOffice. File may be opened, but the text is
completely unreadable (instead of the Russian text we see strange set of
symbols or sometimes something like "arabic characters"). As a result, file
"Example 4 Step 2.rtf" is completely unsuitable for further use.

Perhaps, just change what is written in the Help and/or
add additional comment to the Options settings?

Say, the option works differently depending on how print
range is specified?

Or add another options setting to allow users to choose
whether to include empty pages if print range is manually
specified. It is always better to have more options.

LibreOffice 3.5.1 and 3.5.2 on Windows XP: happens
LibreOffice 3.5.1 on Windows 7: does not happen
Language: Chinese (complex, also called traditional)

1. Create a file with OpenOffice v3.3.
Open a table, and change some text to character font
"Times New Roman" for both Western and Asian (CJK).

2. Open this file in LibreOffice v3.5.2.
Characters which may be rendered in Latin
or Chinese, became rendered as Chinese, in the default Chinese font
(PMingLiU, 新細明體) instead of the configured Latin font (Times New Roman).
In this case a non-ASCII Latin dash (–).
This character is available in Latin as
well as Chinese. Some part of the file correctly renders it as
Times New Roman; some part of the file mistakenly renders it as
   PMingLiU.

3. This problem is also seen in OpenOffice 3.4 beta.
Since this problem does not happen with LibreOffice 3.5.1 on Windows 7,
I believe it is a bug which happens only when running on Windows XP.

4. See attachment.

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP (have not tried Windows 7)
Language: Chinese (complex, also called traditional)
LibreOffice version: 3.5.1 or 3.5.2 (see below)
Language: Chinese (complex, also called traditional)

By default, installation associates Microsoft Office files to LibreOffice.
But the following happens.

A. MODIFY (operated on 3.5.1)

1. Install LibreOffice 3.5.1 by selecting "default", to completeness.
You see that Microsoft Office files
are associated to LibreOffice by default.

2. Go to: Control Panel > Add/Remove Software > LibreOffice > Modify >
keep pressing Next until you see Associate Microsoft Office.

3. PROBLEM: The above checkboxes are not checked.

4. EXPECTATION: The above checkboxes should be checked, because the current
setting is that they are associated. In fact, while doing Modify,
all displayed settings should reflect their current state.

B. CUSTOM INSTALL (operated on 3.5.2)

1. Install LibreOffice 3.5.2 by selecting "custom".

2. Keep pressing Next until you see Associate Microsoft Office.

3. PROBLEM: The above checkboxes are not checked.

4. EXPECTATION: The above checkboxes should be checked, because the default
setting is that they are associated. In fact, while doing Custom Install,
all displayed settings should reflect the default selections.

Thanks.

I have an .ods file with a plenty of conditional formats in it. Now when I
export that file to .xls or .xlsx, all conditional formatting is gone.

I am pretty sure that this is an exporting problem as I achieve the same
results with all tested exporting formats. When I open the exported .xls/.xlsx
files in LibreOffice, all conditional formats are gone, which is a showstopper
for people who work with different office suites (like WordPerfect Office).

Further to Tim's point:

>From the file readmes/README_en-US:

For Fedora-based systems: su -c 'yum install *freedesktop*.rpm'

Evidently this has changed from being RedHat-specific to Free Desktop

So: the bug is actually with the

The Slovenian odt file for testing purposes

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice, preferably with Slovenian spell-checker
2. Open attached document
3. "Save as ..." the document as a rtf
4. Close saved rtf document
5. Open saved rtf document
6. Make a minor change (i.e. add a space or a newline at the end), so saving
becomes possible, and force a save of the document.
7. Close the rtf document
8. Open rtf document

Observe how characters following the č character have dissappeared (attached
are screenshots of original odt text and the resulting rtf in step 8).

If this is confirmed on other systems, it should be a stopper for all Slavic
languages.

Current behavior: character after č gets lost, in 3.5.2 even formatting gets
erratic

Expected behavior: document text should remain the same as in odt

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101

Here are the relevant source content.xml parts:

The relevant parts extracted from the odt..

This is the one with the normal five page breaks (Page-Break1.odt/content.xml):

1

2

3

4

5

This is the one with the page breaks "removed", or rather hidden (why set to
auto?) Page-Break2.odt/content.xml:

1

2

3

4

5

This is the way after the merry go round through word 2010, remove the page
breaks and re-save it in LO as .odt, now the page breaks are REALLY removed

Load the docx. in office 2010, remove page break, save.
Open in LO, and finally they are gone and stay gone, no matter whether you save

Page breaks never get really deleted, bug shows when saving as docx.

The EXACT way to reproduce:
new document, type "1" in the line and hit CR, then add a manual page break.
type "2" in a line and hit CR, add a manual page break.
Repeat until you reach 5.
Save the document as .odt.
Close LO.
Open the document.
Remove the page breaks (using the symbol which appears between the pages when
you hover there).
Save as .odt.
Close LO.
Open the .odt, everything looks fine.
Do "file" "save as" "microsoft office 2007/2010 docx".
Close LO.
Open the .docx you just saved.
Your page breaks which you removed before saving as .odt are back again.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47838] FORMATTING: Writer places text icorrectly in MS Office documents

2012-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47838

--- Comment #14 from Jean-Baptiste Faure 2012-04-05
13:29:43 PDT ---
There is something which has a clear effect on the page layout of the second
attachment (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59066) :
1/ show non-printing characters
2/ select end-of-paragraph mark after the first paragraph until "last line
2012", then right click and clear direct formatting
3/ select the entire text by ctrl+A then format character > position tab >
check "Pair kerning" > validate.

If you do that :
- last page has 3 paragraph like with MS-Word
- the third line (for example) is the same as in Abiword, it ends with "quia
dolor sit amet," instead of "quia dolor sit".

Best regards. JBF

Using LO 3.5.3rc0 on Fedora 16 (x86_64) I can't reproduce this problem

Steps

1) Make up a Writer mailmerge document
2) Identify an LO spreadsheet as the data source
3) Put in some (fairly random) fields
4) Specify a filter

My filter is active because the source data display changes to show only the
data matching the filter.

Writer has not locked up, I can move the cursor around, change the filter...

Already fixed?

The bug is essentially the same if you use .odt, it just does not manifest
since the default paragraph spacing is 0.00.

TEST1.odt\content.xml (reduced to the important difference):

TEST6.odt\content.xml (new document, change spacing to 0.1 and back to 0.0):

It should always save those spacings.

I guess other spacings are affected too, but they did not yet annoy me : )

a distinction between the various documents I did for testing to reproduce:

Steps to reproduce:
New document in LO Writer 3.5.1.
Type a few lines with hitting return at the end.
Save as "office 2007/2010" document TEST1.
Open the document in Office 2010, and an extra empty line is added.
Save the document in Office 2010 as TEST2.
Open in Libreoffice shows the same as office 2010.

Fixing the document in Office 2010: Open TEST2 hit CTRL+A use "Abstand nach dem
Absatz entfernen" which should be something like "remove space after each
paragraph" in English, save as TEST3. Open in LO, add extra lines and save as
TEST4, the extra lines will have the right spacing even when opening in office
2010 again.

Fixing the document in Libreoffice 3.5.1: Open TEST2 hit CTRL+A, right click,
paragraph, Intents & Spacing, Below the paragraph, set to 0.0, save as TEST5.

It doesn't matter which you use for fixing, it works in both cases.

Once the document is "fixed" that way you can add extra lines with Libre Office
and it will correctly use for each new
line (see TEST4).

The bug is that LO 3.5.1 doesn't save the spacing information in first place
for "new document.docx", although it is "0.00" for a new document. To make LO
save the right paragraph spacing you have to change it to 0.1 once (hit OK) and
change it to 0.0 again, save as TEST6. LO will save it the way it should in
first place.

Document source difference boils down to:

TEST1.docx\word\document.xml (shorted to the important lines)

1

TEST6.docx (new document, with changes to 0.1, hit OK and then back to 0.0 +
hit OK)

1

The "original" test documents are available, but I doubt that they will be
needed.

Oh no! How stupid by me! The two screenshots of the first paragraph seemed so
seductively similar, that I completely forgot to check if there is some more
text down the page ...

OK, now I understand completely. To make amends for my stupidity and to prevent
others from the same error, I will attach another screenshot, this time showing
BOTH pages and also the blank lines between the two paragraphs.

At least, we now know for certain that this is a real cross-platform bug,
present both on Windows, Linux (see original report) and MacOS X (see my
screenshots).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48348] New: VIEWING FILEOPEN spreadsheet saved from page preview opens to grey background

2012-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48348

 Bug #: 48348
Summary: VIEWING FILEOPEN spreadsheet saved from page preview
opens to grey background
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: lo_b...@iseries-guru.com

Created attachment 59529
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59529
page preview window showing only gray background

I am running on ubuntu-natty (11.4) with desktop "Ubuntu Classic (no
effects)". My LibreOffice is master, commit id 1199713, pulled
2012-04-01, and built with configuration parameters ...

--disable-mozilla
--enable-symbols
--enable-dbgutil
--enable-crashdump
--disable-build-mozilla
--without-system-postgresql
--enable-python=internal

To see the problem ...

(1) Run soffice.bin. Program displays Writer document "Untitled 1".

(2) Take menu option File > New > Spreadsheet. Program displays Calc
document "Untitled 2" with cell A1 selected as the current cell.

(3) In cell A1 of "Untitled 2", type "blah blah". Program
displays "blah blah" in A1 and selects cell A2 as the current
cell.

(4) In the toobar, click the icon "Page Preview". Program displays
the Page Preview. Note that the contents of cell A1 are visible.

(5) Take menu option File > "Save As ...". The program displays the
Save dialog.

(6) Finish saving the file as /tmp/c.odt. The program displays the
Page Preview window "c.ods : 2". Note that the contents of cell
A1 are visible.

(7) Take menu option File > Close. The program closes window
"Untitled 2" and displays "Untitled 1".

(8) Take menu option File > "Recent Documents ..." > /tmp/c.ods.

Actual result: The program opens window c.ods in Page Preview
mode, and the document area shows only a gray background.
Screenshot attached.

Preferred result: The program opens window c.ods in editing mode,
and document contents are visible.

Acceptable result: The program opens window c.ods in Page Preview
mode, and the contents of cell A1 are visible.

Comparable user actions in Writer show no obvious problem.

Bug 42076 "Removing print ranges results in gray background" is
similar to my current report in that the reporter complains about a
gray background and a commenter suggests that Page Preview is
implicated. The user actions leading to that report are, however,
quite different.

Attachment coming soon: typescript of terminal session during
execution of those steps.

I've tried to use two releases of 3.5.
Download and installation complete normally.
On opening, the application crashes, and gives me the Windows crash error
message "LibreOffice 3.5 has stopped working".
Always, the last message in the LibreOffice opening window is about enabling
the Danish spelling dictionary.

I've been using v. 3.4.5.
I've tried installing 3.5.1 and 3.5.2, with and without uninstalling 3.4.5.

I'm using a 64 bit HP Pavilion dv6, with Intel Core 5, 2.67GHz
Running Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1

Thanks for bugreport
Panes "Slides" and "Tasks" appears automatically. It is not a bug. It is
presentation. But we can ask developers for adding option, that disables them
permanently. For this we should transform this bug to functionality request.

Meanwhile, just undock this pane. It may closed then more quickly.
May I ask You: for what this needed? To achieve something like fullscreen mode
for editing slides? Or something else?

Please look at the last line of the document (it is located at the bottom of
the page) and compare its position in MS Word and Writer. Uploaded screenshots
does not show the last line. But you can see that even on your screenshot
document has 2 pages (Writer) and on the first screenshot from comment 6 in has
one page (Word). Writer places text differently from Word.
In accordance with comment 3 it is not "compatibility options" problem.

The ODF 1.2 spec, section 19.228 draw:transform, defines the transform elements
"skewX" and "skewY" like this:
--- 8< ---
* skewX(), specifies a skew transformation by
   degrees along the x-axis.
* skewY(), specifies a skew transformation by
   degrees along the y-axis.
--- 8< ---
(the bad s have been reported to odf-comment ml by me). But
LibreOffice (Draw) stores for as skewX and skewY values the radian value, not
the degree one. Additionally the angle is given clockwise, not
counterclock-wise, like known from the same SVG elements.

Cmp. SVG 1.1 spec, section 7.6 The transform attribute:
--- 8< ---
skewX(), which specifies a skew transformation along the x-axis.
--- 8< ---
and referenced from this, section 7.4 Coordinate system transformations:
--- 8< ---
* A skew transformation along the x-axis is equivalent to [...]
  [1 0 tan(a) 1 0 0], which has the effect of skewing X coordinates
  by angle a.
* A skew transformation along the y-axis is equivalent to [...]
  [1 tan(a) 0 1 0 0], which has the effect of skewing Y coordinates
  by angle a.
--- 8< ---

What to do about this?
a) Fix the loading/storing code and adapt to the spec, and have all ODF
consumers check the producer of the file and work around the wrong skewX/Y
value format?
b) Or be pragmatic and (try to) adapt the spec, given that LO and OOo have
created lots of documents with the wrong value format? No idea if that is
possible.

Either way, this needs to be fixed, if we want ODF to be a good document spec,
right? :)

Thanks for new idea. Currently I can find described ability only in KOffice. At
least partially. Alas, internals of LibreOffice not allow this functionality.
But, I hope, in future this will be possible, and will be implemented.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48341] New: LibreOffice fails to start with a virgin UserInstallation

2012-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48341

 Bug #: 48341
Summary: LibreOffice fails to start with a virgin
UserInstallation
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 Release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: m...@nuxeo.com

The first time LibreOffice is started with a custom UserInstallation, it will
stop after a few seconds.

How to reproduce:
Run: /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin
-env:UserInstallation=file:///tmp/lotest
Result: returns after a few seconds, no soffice process remaining
Run the same command again: OK, doesn't exit by itself
Remove /tmp/lotest and try again: KO, exits by itself

This has been reproduced on Ubuntu 11.10 with LibreOffice 3.4 and Ubuntu 12.04
beta1 with LibreOffice 3.5.1.
When I tested on Windows with a 3.4 distribution, this didn't happen, not sure
if this is specific to the ubuntu packaging or general to linux.

--- Comment #11 from Hans Deragon 2012-04-05 08:44:57 PDT ---
This bug is reproduceable in 3.5.1.2, Ubuntu 11.10. The workaround of removing
~/.config/libreoffice/3/user/registrymodifications.xcu works. However there is
some sensitive data within the file that prevents me to submit it for further
inspection, such as personal filenames.

Please provide a package that fix this so that non technical people can get
back Impress running normally without having them touch any configuration file.

Thanks for new idea. I agree that it is great improvement.
Currently we can see slide boundaries through picture only if before this
picture was less than slide. But often picture is initially bigger than slide.
And we need do additional work: first change picture to bee too small, and then
adjust as needed.

--- Comment #7 from Roman Eisele 2012-04-05 08:31:14 PDT ---
I understand this is a serious problem, but I have some difficulties to
reproduce it. If I open the first sample document ('test_writer_word.doc') with
LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 (Build-ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f), German
langpack installed, running on MacOS X 10.6.8 German, it looks nearly identical
to the MS Office screenshot attached in comment #2 -- I will attach my own
screenshot.

Now, just in order to understand correctly: am I missing something? Is the
problem you are talking about visible in my screenshot? Or is it not? If it is
NOT visible on my screenshot, then the problem may be OS-dependend (I am using
on LibreOffice on MacOS). Then it would be helpful if you could attach your own
screenshot showing the same document but with the problem visible. (OR, if the
problem is indeed visible on my screenshot, too, a more exact description would
be necessary, as it is not obvious.)

No offence -- just wanting to help -- we need to make clear exactly what we are
talking about and if the problem is OS-dependend etc. or not ...

Would have been nice to know what other border types there could be. The one I
added seems to be logical to me, taken the existing ones into account. It is

type.
Your advice is ... well, isn't software meant to make life easier?

Ah, very interesting. On my machine, where the problem doe NOT occur, the
values are:

  V2,V,0,AL:(9,16,0/0/591/188,591;188)

Whatever this means, it is obvious that the UserData note is NOT empty, and
this supports the observation that an empty value of the UserData note causes
the problem.

Hint for MacOS X users: the file 'registrymodifications.xcu' is at
~/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice/3/user/
