[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48365] New: Exporting as an EPS file results in an incorrectly scaled image (appears larger than original)

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48365

 Bug #: 48365
Summary: Exporting as an EPS file results in an incorrectly
scaled image (appears larger than original)
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Drawing
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: johnha...@johnhardyco.com

Created attachment 59572
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59572
Image for product ID. Scaled wrong by LibO Draw 3.5.2 when exported as EPS.

I created an image in Open Office Draw two or three years ago. I brought it
into LibO Draw 3.4 and did some editing. When I export it as an EPS file
(Encapsulated Postscript), either in LibO Draw 3.4 or LibO Draw 3.5.2, then
look at it in GIMP and other EPS viewers, the image as viewed and printed is
about 10% larger than it should be.

I have Open Office 3.3 on my computer, so I loaded the same image into OO Draw
3.3 and then exported it as an EPS file. When I view that file in GIMP, it is
the correct size.

If I use LibO 3.4 or 3.5.2 to export the image as a PDF file, the image is
correctly scaled and rendered using Adobe Reader to view the pdf.

Please consider adding a setting which informs the update server that the user
wants to update to RC versions (like Mozilla does).

This would be a deliberate choice from the user (all other users would be by
default in the Stable update channel)

This setting will allow a user to update e.g. from 3.5.1.2 (regardless of if it
is the previous stable version or any previous RC) to 3.5.2.2 (again regardless
of the release status)

{Win-x86@9-Voreppe Win32 pull time 2012-02-29 04:21:51}. OS: German WIN7 Home
Premium (64bit). Mac related? Fixed in between. Misunderstanding? Report is
much too rare.

@Ben:
Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.
May be hints on http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport will help you to
find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you
believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing
list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a testkit.zip with sample documents unprotected.odt and protected.odt
 (not only screenshot)
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (due to example in Bug 43431)
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
-- what EXACTLY is unexpected (exact wording of messages, ...)
  -- concerning your OS (Language)
-- concerning your LibO localization (UI language, Locale setting)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
(there are lots of ways how to Try to oen a document)
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Even if you can not provide all demanded information, every little new
information might bring the breakthrough.

--- Comment #6 from Rainer Bielefeld libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

Modified Version due to Comment 3 and own tests

I believe the problem is more simple.

Steps to reproduce with LibreOffice Portable 3.3.0 - WIN7 Home Premium
(64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4] :

1. Open attached sample
2. Menu 'File - Save as'
3. Modify File name to Track_changes2.doc
4. Click 'Save with Password', Save
Set password dialog appears
5. Click 'More options', - 'Open file read-only'
6. Enter and confirm file sharing password 123456, ok
7. Save as current document format .doc
8. close - reopen via recent documents
As expected: read-only
9. Click in Task bar icon Edit File, insert password, ok
As expected: additional edit task bar appear
10. Click behind end of first line in document, try to type something
expected: typed text appears
actual: Message Readonly Content cannot be changed.
No modifications will be accepted

A new test showed that it's even more simple:
0. Open New writer document
1. Type qwertz and save as sample0.odt
2. Menu 'File - Save as - sample1.doc (Word97)'
3. Click 'Save with Password', Save
   Set password dialog appears
4. Click 'More options', - 'Open file read-only'
5. Enter and confirm file sharing password 123456, ok
6. Save as current document format .doc
7. close - reopen via recent documents
As expected: read-only
8. Click in Task bar icon Edit File, insert password, ok
As expected: additional edit task bar appear
9. Click behind end of first line in document, try to type something
expected: typed text appears
actual: Message Readonly Content cannot be changed.
No modifications will be accepted

That worked fine with OOo 3.3, but broken starting with first LibO Version
No problem when I save document as .odt and then redo tests starting with 1

This one might be related to /Dup of
43890 - Cannot edit .doc saved from a .docx that had a password protection for
editing
Bug 43229 - Unable to un-protect password protected MS-Word .doc document

MAJOR because the problem seems to cause dataloss

@all:
do you agree with my simplified bug description?
It would be interesting to know whether MSWORD will bi able to edit document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47078] Empty page with cell borders gets printed out when Suppress output of empty pages is enabled

--- Comment #5 from Astron heinzless...@gmail.com 2012-04-06 02:07:35 PDT ---
Maybe I am misunderstanding something about the behaviour here, but as far as I
can see, the option is currently _completely broken_: even if you select the
range All pages, you get empty pages – thus, output of empty pages is
actually never suppressed.

The only way to successfully suppress empty pages currently is to choose a
print range like 1,3 (for the sample document) where the option won't even
come into effect because the user chose a range that already excluded the empty
page

Tried the same on a Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3 with LibreOffice 3.5.0
and something else happened. The characters did not dissapear in steps 7-8, but
already in step 5 the č character was replaced or displayed as è, which
again proves that something is wrong interpreting special characters č and
Č.
Will attach a screenshot.
Since this erratic behavior is now confirmed on different OS and with different
versions of LO 3.5.x, I will change status to NEW. The title might be a bit
misleading, maybe it should be changed to RTF export filter misinterprets
characters č and Č or something like that?
This is a serious bug for all Slovenian users and I as the lead of Slovenian
localization of LibreOffice will have to issue a warning to all Slovenian users
using 3.5.x.

What is interesting:
Open first attachment by Writer and save it as fodt file. Than open it in text
editor and find and remove this:
style:master-page-name=First_20_Page
Then save it and open in Writer again. Page looks correctly.

PS:(I experimented also with unarchiving odt file, but Writer do not want to
open it again when I zipped it manually and renamed to odt)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45997] EDITING, PASTE, PICTURE

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45997

--- Comment #5 from Manik Chand manik_chand_patn...@yahoo.com 2012-04-06
03:10:08 PDT ---
Additional situation encountered.

Whenever I encounter such an event, I have found a method to mitigate it.
In a new paragraph when I try to paste an image and the paste happens and
scrolls down to bottom of the document, I can now disallow such action by
pressing any character or space bar once before pasting. So after paste, I am
not scrolled down to bottom of document.
I use KDE and I found that the paste button does not always become active after
I copy some text/graphics from any other application, say chrome browser.
However as I use middle mouse key to paste, paste happens even without the
paste button becoming active. However soon after paste happens paste button
becomes active indicating that something is on the clipboard. I have randomly
encountered this behaviour and so I don't have any conclusive reason to believe
that this behaviour is linked with the issue presently being discussed.

@Rainer Bielefeld: I don't know how that zip is created. If there is a
libreoffice tracking app or debug mode or anything like that, possibly I could
have made a case. As this bug does not activate upon each paste, it is
difficult to generate a scenario. Hope you understand.

Sorry, my previous comment is wrong!

I previously thought that option Evenly distribute ... means equal width of
columns. Now I understand that it means equal amount of text (by hight) in all
columns.

So, Writer in this situation works properly. It is not a bug.

@reporter:
Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.

Please discuss your problem on a user mailing list, other users will help you
to find a solution. My first 2recommendations are
a) try to rename your user profile (under AppData) and see what happens when
you launch next time. If that does not help:
b) do a server installation due to
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel, to start that
build with it's own user profile (see bootstrap.ini modifications in the Wiki)
and to see what happens.

So, IMHO, keeping this open is a good idea (even if it surely is a corner case

Calculation resulting from pasting a formula in a full column (~ 1M cells)
appears to hang the application.

When pasting in very many cells, could the operation be broken in two phases :
- phase one : timing of the processing time to
resulting first calculation be timed and the whole processing time be
extrapolated and eventually result in a special treatment to avoid the hang
feeling, whether by having it processed by a different thread or by having a
Cancel/Continue dialog before the full operation is applied ?

Adding this check should not significantly slow down the most common pastes of
1 to 100 cells.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47838] FORMATTING: Writer places text icorrectly in MS Office documents

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47838

--- Comment #16 from Alexander a3xmas...@mail.ru 2012-04-06 05:44:53 PDT ---
(In reply to comment #14)
There is something which has a clear effect on the page layout of the second
 attachment (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59066) :
 1/ show non-printing characters
2/ select end-of-paragraph mark after the first paragraph until last line
2012, then right click and clear direct formatting
3/ select the entire text by ctrl+A then format character position tab
 check Pair kerning validate.

 If you do that :
 - last page has 3 paragraph like with MS-Word
 - the third line (for example) is the same as in Abiword, it ends with quia
dolor sit amet, instead of quia dolor sit.

 Best regards. JBF

I also can edit the document in order to make it looks like in MS Word (even by
another way).
The bug is that you need to edit the document (formatting, options, etc.). What
if you do not have Word installed? How can you correctly print such documents?

Writer should display at least simple .doc-files like Word without
re-formatting, without editing.

Regards,
Alexander

That's *wild*! What a bizarre thing.

I certainly agree that cut and paste is a really poor way to get data between
Base and something else, that's a big conversation that I would like to have.

In the meantime I'll have a look at what's going on here and fixing certainly
#2, and perhaps #1 if I can.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48356] FILESAVE: Save as RTF loses characters after Slovenian/ Slavic č character

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48356

--- Comment #7 from khagar...@gmail.com 2012-04-06 07:19:57 PDT ---
Confirmed and unfortunately, it's not only č. Actually saving any accented
character is pretty much screwed up completely.
Note that first time save is correct, it's only after opening the rtf a second
time and resaving (no need to edit it, a 'Save as' is enough).
I'm attaching a test document created with Wordpad (a document created with
Writer behaves identically, but the created rtf is extremely messy and
unreadable - just the size difference is telling - Wordpad 400B / Writer 4.6kB)
that exhibits this problem. The used test letters are ž š č ř ď ť ň ě á é í ó ú
ů and all do disappear after a resave.
I guess this should be a blocker, because it causes a severe data loss.

Basically the things to do are:

i Make a link and a page on libreoffice.org which contains the search box
code
ii Edit the CSS and a bit of code in opengrok which makes the extra chrome on
opengrok.libreoffice.org disappear when accessed with ?remote=true

iii Edit opengrok to produce better HTML so that the search results part of the
mockup can actually be realised

(iii is harder as it means editing the source code of opengrok, so it could
wait)

Probably not the problem as changing all manually by directly editing the rtf
source didn't fix it, but the combination of \langfe2052 (Chinese), \alang1081
(Hindi) and \lang1029 (Czech) in the styles and \adeflang1025 (Arabic) as
default document language for a document using Czech only is rather weird.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48391] New: Remove TEST_ENSHURE

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48391

 Bug #: 48391
   Summary: Remove TEST_ENSHURE
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: ke...@suse.cz

git grep TEST_ENSHURE

gives quite some uses of this misspelled macro that is defined here and there
as:

#if OSL_DEBUG_LEVEL  0
#define TEST_ENSHURE(c, m)   OSL_ENSURE(c, m)
#else
#define TEST_ENSHURE(c, m)   OSL_VERIFY(c)
#endif

These definitions should be removed, and most of the uses of TEST_ENSHURE
should be changed directly to OSL_ENSURE(), like:

-TEST_ENSHURE( xSMgr.is(), excomp error 0 );
+OSL_ENSURE( xSMgr.is(), excomp error 0 );

There is a small catch - OSL_VERIFY() evaluates the condition _always_,
regardless of the debug level, so in case the condition is something more
advanced than xSMgr.is(), you might need to use OSL_VERIFY() instead of
OSL_ENSURE(). If in doubt, please consult the
libreoff...@lists.freedesktop.org mailing list :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48394] New: PRINTING Landscape documents are not rotated to fit a portrait page

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48394

 Bug #: 48394
Summary: PRINTING Landscape documents are not rotated to fit a
portrait page
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 Release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: freedesktop@tjbp.net

When printed, landscape documents are not rotated to fit the page. The margin
sizing of the document is retained, and the text disappears of the side of the
page and is clipped.

Landscape is also selected in the printer settings automatically - if this is
switched to Portrait, the document is printed as it should (centred vertically
and horizontally, and clipped).

Steps to reproduce:

- Fill a page with text.
- Click Format Page, then the Page tab.
- Configure a Landscape Orientation and click OK.
- Print the document.

Writer should display at least simple .doc-files like Word without
 re-formatting, without editing.

Of course, but what my tests show is that the problem may be in an error in the
importer which may not set correctly the Pair kerning parameter.

Hi Miklos, could you have a look ? Please, feel free to reassign if you can't
handle this bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48408] New: Undo does not work on a number copied from another program and pasted in a cell

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48408

 Bug #: 48408
Summary: Undo does not work on a number copied from another
program and pasted in a cell
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: gaetan.je...@sympatico.ca

When I copy a number from another program and paste it in any cell in
LibreOffice Calc, if I click Undo, it does not remove the number I just pasted,
it just highlights the cell where I just pasted that number.

Normally it should remove the number, but it doesn't. This worked in Open
Office 3.2.

--- Comment #3 from Björn Michaelsen bjoern.michael...@canonical.com
2012-04-06 18:08:15 PDT ---
Is this metabug really a 3.5 MAB? E.g. are we expecting to kill it on the
release branch or is this work that touches too much code to be really safely
backported?
Without deeper knowledge of the topic I would assume the second, and thus
demote this from 3.5 MAB state.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48000] Impress EDITING: formula behaves incorrect after editing

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from kitaets china...@ya.ru 2012-04-06 19:45:00 PDT ---
I confirm this bug in LO 3.3.4 @ Ubuntu 11.10.

I just joined to this bugtracker and don't know the rules. Should I change the
status of this bug?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48409] New: Impress 3.4-3.5 EDITING: embedded OLE object changes its position after editing

2012-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48409

 Bug #: 48409
Summary: Impress 3.4-3.5 EDITING: embedded OLE object changes
its position after editing
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: china...@ya.ru

Created attachment 59613
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59613
OLE positioning bug

There is a presentation with embedded Writer object in the attachment. I work
on several presentations with such OLE objects because Writer gives much more
formatting options.
To see the bug:
1. Open attached document in Impress.
2. Double click the highlighted text in the notes (OLE object).
3. Click somewhere outside to finish editing of OLE object.
Expected: nothing changed.
Actually: the OLE object moves.

Reproduced in versions from 3.4.* up to 3.5.1 on Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows XP 32
bit. Thats why I still use LO 3.3.4.

Maybe this bug is connected with the bug 47773 but in my case the LO 3.3.4
works correctly.
