[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42473] FILEASSOC During execution of group policy Libreoffice associates with Word files

(In reply to comment #12)
 (In reply to comment #10)
Can someone please report whether this persists with the released 3.5.2?

I have tested it yesterday at 4 PC´s. One of them failed again and lost all
file associations like .doc .odt .xls and so on. The other ones worked fine.

Please clarify whether your issue is the one described in this thread, that is
installation via group policy or via /qn, associates LibO with .doc, regardless
of user settings.

Please report whether you've tested this in the following manner and if not,
please re-test using the procedure below: find a system where
openoffice/libreoffice is not installed and make sure that .doc files are
opened by Windows wordpad. Then do the following:

1) Download the Libreoffice installation (.msi) file to your desktop
2) Start-Programs-Accessories-Command prompt
3) In the box that will open, make a cd to the desktop directory. Then enter:
msiexec /i nameoflibreoffice.msi REGISTER_NO_MSO_TYPES=1 /qn

Nothing will be displayed, but you can tell when installation is finished when
a Libreoffice icon will appear on screen.

Then double click a .doc file. Does it open with Libreoffice or with Wordpad?

Hello,

I'd like to propose bug 38176
FILEOPEN, FILESAVE, FORMATTING in RTF with non-breaking spaces
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38176

It is very complicated to edit RTF file with non-breaking spaces because a
normal space is added just after each non-breaking space. Non-breaking space is
quite common in French text, as there is one before each double punctuation:
':' ';' '?' '!'

I reported the same bug a while back. See:

https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=48278

I believe the bug is related to using an xorg screen dpi the 96 dpi default,
because I experienced the same behavior in older versions of OpenOffice when
using dpi 96. I was happy when that bug finally got fixed, but now it's back
again. I don't think anybody does any QA testing on higher than average res
monitors (set up properly to actually use their higher dpi) before releases.

You could confirm this by running:

xdpyinfo |grep resolution

and checking to see if your resolution is set to something other then 96 dpi.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49095] New: Pivot Table sort drop down shows inappropriate options

2012-04-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49095

 Bug #: 49095
Summary: Pivot Table sort drop down shows inappropriate options
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: pharman...@gmail.com

Created attachment 60512
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=60512
on 1st sheet data is created, On 2nd sheet pivot table is present

When a pivot table have multiple levels of data, selecting the Higher level of
data should show appropriate applicable options only, while selecting lower
(dependent) level of data

Find attached the spreadsheet file with pivot data to understand my point.

There I have created a dummy data for a department store. having headings --

Counter PositionItem TypeItem NameQty

Possible 'Counter Position' are -- Main , Display , Inside
Possible 'Item Type' are -- Fruit, stationary, Vegetable, Crockery

Possible 'Counter Position' wise 'Item Types' are;
Main -- Fruit, stationary, Vegetable
Display -- stationary, Vegetable, Crockery
Inside -- stationary, Crockery

--
(What should happen --)
Now, When I make the pivot table of this data when I first select Counter
Position -- Main (From drop down box) ; then I move further to select Item
Type (drop down box) ; I should see only the 'Item Type' options possible with
my previous selection (Main) i.e. I should see only the options (In drop down
box) Fruit, stationary, Vegetable

(What is happening --)
On the contrary currently I am seeing all the options (In drop down box) ...
Fruit, stationary, Vegetable, Crockery
But Crockery is non applicable option under Main thus should not be visible
in drop down.

As a result, if by mistake I select option Crockery deselect all other
options (under Main) All of my Pivot table collapses it is not recovered !
---

Even in pivot table in office 2007, you get to see only applicable options
based on your preselected option.
The bug is not very annoying but definitely its illogical has to be removed
if we want perfection in Calc.

Hi,

It's not a problem, but I've tried using the bibliography to create a table of
contents, table of references, table of images and a table of tables.

It's very difficult to do compared to MS word. I figured it out to a point but
then gave up. MSWord is just so much easier on this point and because I'm a
university student I use referencing for everything.

IEEE referencing is the most useful I've found to date.

See :
http://mikemurko.com/general/ieee-referencing-for-word-2007-2010/

Also as a side note.

The MS ribbon would be a good idea to bring users across from MS office. Yes I
know it's a tad on the user hostile side but I'm sure more businesses would
take on open source things if they had all the standard features of what the
industry standard is.

cheers,

Ray

idxexample.odt: Writer, Insert - Indexes and tables - indexes and tables -
this is the preview. We have this file in several languages, although not every
l10n team is aware, that it is a localizable file.

We have around 1.2Mb (compressed) of this idxexample document translated
wholesale over and over again. The code for this lives in:

  sw/source/ui/index/cnttab.cxx

And we could translate those files far more easily (for translators at least),
if we could take those strings from a vcl resource. It would be wonderful to
extract the eight strings, and have a programmatic way of substituting them
into a more generic template.

After setting up a corporate design in LibreOffice master slides the elements
should stay locked in place and size if you lock them in the master.

If you lock them and then use them later you can drag around everything again.
It seems almost impossible to set up a consistent, forced layout in Impress.

It would be nice if this would be possible.

Language dependent html.stw files live in
extras/source/templates/wizard/desktop/lang/language/

(1) Why are they in old OpenOffice.org XML format, and not in OpenDocument?
(2) html.stw files are identical in en-US, de, es, eu, fr, hu, it, km, sv, vi.
Maybe the differences in other languages are not important? Would it be
possible to create a language independent html template that fits all? We could
save some bytes in the install sets.

Code for this lives in sw/source/filter/html/swhtml.cxx,
HTMLReader::GetTemplateName()

Language independent html.oth should be installed into share/template/common/.

Could you confirm that, in order to fix this bug, there should be a new
accounting format (adding a button next to the currency format) which have
the following properties:

a) alligning the currency symbol on the left
b) replacing 0 value by a dash.
c) putting negative numbers between parenthesis.

I'm not sure about the color.

Indeed locking the elements in the Masterslide does not lock them in the
devirated new slides.

I think that would be a nice feature corporate designs another imho even more
interesting solution for that kind of feature would be the possibility to lock
templates with a password similar to the mechanism you can lock cells in Calc.

Numbering is incorrect when merged cells in a table

LibreOffice 3.5.2 and 3.5.3rc1.

Numbering in a table with merged cells is not correct. Instead 1, 2, 3... we
have 1, 3, 5 in case, when there are two rows near merged cells. Numbering
depends of number of rows involved (more rows=bigger number).
Also LO changes the proper numbering soon after opening the file in Word
format. For example I attached doc file with correct numbering and it is
changed to incorrect by LO. Interestingly after saving it back and opening in
Word the numbering is correct.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create table.
2. Merge two cells in first column.
3. Repeat few times.
4. Paste numbering in first column.
5. Autonumber depends of rows count near merged cells.

Expected result:
Numbering should not depend on rows count near merged cells.

A simple document with a bullet list created on a clear background, which is
then changed to grey 80%

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a bullet list in a light background with text colour set to Auto
2. Change slide background to a dark colour - say grey 80% (see test case -
note that text colour is not very readable - a different but also annoying bug)
3. Select all the text in the bullet list, and change text colour to something
more appropriate - like white

Current behavior:

The bullet points in the list stay mid-grey.

Expected behavior:

I would expect that when I change a background from light to dark with text
colour set to Auto that the text would automatically become light. In the
absence of that, when I select all the text in a bullet list (with Ctrl-A) and
change the text colour to white, I expect the bullet points or list numbering
to also change colour, as part of the text.

Attached are the test documents and screenshot jpg files with explnation of
what goes wrong in LibO 3.5.2.2

Problem description: Provided are four documents created in Microsoft Word 2010
that have visible,noticeable formatting
problems with text content displayed in cells when opened
in LibreOffice.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the documents in Microsoft Office Word 2010 or check jpg screenshots
of rendering in Microsoft Office Word 2010 and comments in red.

2. Open the same in LibO 3.5.2.2 and check rendering of contents in table
cells.

Current behavior: Text in table cells not appearing or
aligning properly.

Expected behavior: The text should appear properly
as in Microsoft Office Word 2010 Rendering.

This may have to do with some logic in table content
rendering where some extra logic should be added
to bridge the gaps

I still think it's a conditional formatting problem. I see that the contents
does not become invisible with EXCEL Starter 2010. Reference for conditional
formattings in column D behaves different in LibO and EXCEL.
EXCEL: $D17= becomes $C17 after deletion of column C
LibO: Prezentace.$D17= remains $D17

Currently no spare time for more research.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49103] EDITING: Changing font colour on a bullet list does not change the colour of bullet points or list numbering

2012-04-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49103

--- Comment #7 from Dave Neary dne...@gnome.org 2012-04-24 04:58:21 PDT ---
(In reply to comment #4)
 (In reply to comment #3)
In addition to these two problems, there is a third: I have been unable to
  find
any way to modify the colour of bullet points in an existing bullet list.
  Does
one exist? If not, that's a functional gap. If so, it's pretty well hidden!

It's Customize in the Bullets Numbering dialog - there's a color dropdown
there. Suggestions as to improved discoverability appreciated, though we'd
possibly shelve larger UI reworks until we have a better dialog engine...

Thanks for the heads-up!

I did notice that when I did that, it only changed the colour of the bullet
associated with the current cursor position - if I do not have an active text
cursor, it changes the colour of new bullets. But existing ones (including new
bullets on existing bullet lists) stay the same. To change all the bullet
colours, you need to select all the text (as I say in comment #6).

Thanks again!

This bug has been present for a while, also in the 3.4 version included in
Ubuntu.
Since this is clearly a bug that has been there for a while and it effectively
makes LibreOffice unfit for the described usage, I marked it as very high.

--- Comment #1 from Rainer Bielefeld libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de
2012-04-24 09:22:41 PDT ---
I see the effect, with LibreOffice 3.5.3.1 (RC1) German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
21cb047-d7e6025-9ba54fc-b4a51a8-f42372b] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit),
but I doubt that it's a bug.

@reporter:
Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.
May be hints on http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport will help you to
find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you
believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing
list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a sample document (not only screenshot) or refer to an existing
sample document in an other Bug with a link.
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (due to example in Bug 43431)
- add information
  -- what EXACTLY is unexpected
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
-- concerning your LibO version (with Build ID if it's not a public release)
and localization (UI language, Locale setting)
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Even if you can not provide all demanded information, every little new
information might bring the breakthrough.

May be you can test https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ for submitting
bug reports?

changes
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bi...@gmx.de

I think I found to regressions that probably have been introduced by Markus
Morhards' changes.

See
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46230#c6
and
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46738#c6

Steps to reproduce:

- Open a blank spreadsheet
- Open the page preview.

== Note that only a gray area is dispalyed, no page. It is impossible to check
header and footer if no cell is filled.

- Try to export as PDF

== An error message appears: Error saving the document...

OfficeUser,

With all due respect, before you accuse a developer by name, you should have a
solid evidence of your accusation. That's a sure way to piss off a developer.

BTW, this behavior has been there since 3.3. It's not a regression.
