Thanks for bugreport
reproduced in 3.3.4 and 3.5.4 on Fedora 64 bit (Windows not tested)
Steps to reproduce:
0. Click on page scroll slider thumb and hold mouse
1. Move mouse on line between zoom slider thumb and and icon + or -
2. Release mouse button

IMHO: this behaviour is part of LO internals inherited from Borland VCL. And
not easy to fix at this time.

No, it applicable only for fotos where present people. In all other situations
ratio is no matter.

However, adding ability to LO for adjusting default behaviour in such situation
may greatly improve productivity of users.

I have a large excel file (58 MB). I have try this file from LibreOffice 3.3.x
until now, and it has a great improvement.

At first try using LO 3.3.x I opened this file with more than 1 hours load
time, it is so annoying, so I back to MS Office Excel just to open that large
file. Now, with LibreOffice 3.5.x, the load time for that file has show a great
improvement in load file, as we now before 3.5.x it can be opened for 1 hours,
now it can be opened for less than 10 minutes depend on PC specification.

The problem is not just that, it's appear when I saving that file, it can take
more than 30 minutes just to save that file. The larger file, the longer times
needed.

It's not the only large files. There is another files that larger than it, the
size is 224 MB. And when I trying to load that file, LibreOffice just crash
after a hour loading time.

See attached file for example.

Hmm.. I was pretty sure that I have attached a screenshot. It's a different
issue, look at the screenshot.

The outline I am speaking about is not around the button itself; it's around
the text that's inside the button. The arrow i drew in Paint points to this.
This screenshot comes from Windows 7 (I'm at work and currently unable to make
a screenshot from Linux), but it happens on Linux too.

Such outline is not present in any application on Windows/Linux/Mac.

When creating a XLS workbook with more than two worksheets, the worksheets
three and on will not hold their position when saved and re-opened.

I attached an Excel workbook containing four worksheets. Please scoll each of
it to a certain position, enter any text or information you like at there and
save it again (File -> Save).
After re-opening, the first two worksheets have preserved their position while
the last two will be presented scrolled to the very top. As LibreOffice 3.3.3
did not show this behaviour, I think this is a bug introduced somewhere
inbetween 3.3.3 and 3.5.4 (did not check on any other version, yet).

Can someone please confirm this behaviour ?

I'm sorry, I don't understand remotely what your question has to do with this
bug. I use LibreOffice. I reported a bug in LibreOffice. Now you want me (a
LibreOffice user) to tell you (a LibreOffice developer) how to do something
with Inkscape (a program that has nothing to do with LibreOffice). What makes
you think I'd know anything about Inkscape? Why is Inkscape relevant?

I'm sure if you really need to know you can look up whatever documentation
Inkscape has!

ah - sure, but if something pathalogically bad happens - code can call 'exit'
itself, and - unfortunately that triggers a load of cleanup - which can lock
the application up [ making a crash look like a hang ]. I suspect this is one
of those cases from the traces :-)

I imagine if you forced an exit we'd see a signal handler instead here (which
can suffer the same problem sometimes FWIW).

did you manage to run from a terminal / console to see if there was some
helpful Java debug output there when the error occurs ? :-)

2012-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50603

--- Comment #13 from Stephan Bergmann 2012-06-14 01:50:36
PDT ---
The crash is always from within the automatic update check thread, so when it
will happen is somewhat non-deterministic. (For example, that it happened just
while you switched the language to Slovakian is mere coincidence.)

In a scenario that is known to be bad, can you manually do "Tools - Extension
Manager... - Check for Updates..." to see whether it outputs anything that
could give us more of a clue?

Thanks for new idea
> The External Data in Spreadsheet objects should be updated automatically and

For all Spreadsheet editors or some particular?

This attachment is Writer document. And Writer (as any other program) not
responsive for OLE internals. It just asks program, responsible for objects of
specific type for render or edit this object.

Users often create OLE objects by drag-and-drop something from one program to
another. They may expect that such things will remain constant.

Additional investigation needed

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51069] New: FILEOPEN: REPEATED FAILURE TO OPEN ODT FILES

2012-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51069

 Bug #: 51069
Summary: FILEOPEN: REPEATED FAILURE TO OPEN ODT FILES
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: vlrui...@gmail.com

Due to my job as a teacher, I use a wide variety of platforms: Windows XP,
Vists, Seven; OpenSuse and Ubuntu with several desktops. During this 2011/2012
term I have found a lot of problems using LibreOffice while opening files:

- Repeatedly, LibreOffice will fail to open odt and ods files and report them
as broken.
- The recovery process is not consistent: sometimes it recovers all data and
formats, sometimes it recovers the data but only part of the formats (failure
in type, size, etc), sometimes the file is lost completely.
- This happens both with old documents created with old versions and documents
created with the latest versions.
- This failure is fairly consistent and widespread enough for me to pinpoint a
particular occurrence. It happens so often that I have had to resort to saving
everything as pdf, which renders the document unusable for further editing.
- The failure is happening ever since the first LibreOffice was released, all
versions are equally prone to produce the failure.

I am a strong advocate of free software and I know how hard The Document
Foundation and the community work on this and other projects, but this bug has
become nearly unbearable. It is extremely annoying, and I keep slowly losing
documents (class documents, papers, exams) that I cannot afford to lose. It has
become so grave that I have had to resort to other solutions.

I have gone through the related bug reports and don't seem able to find any
regarding such a general failure. I hope I am not being very annoying.

Thank you for your excellent work and efforts.

It seems AOOo Bugzilla found a way to suppress obsolete Versions in the Version
picker, please try
The old version is visible, but it's not possible to select one of the lots of
old Versions you see in
Report

We should get something similar, our LibO-Bugzilla-admins can set an
"Donotshow" flag to more than 1 year old alpha and beta versions, what makes
them invisible for new selections in pickers. But the admins have the
possibility to assign also those obsolete Versions to bugs if necessary; I
doubt that that will happen too often.

If I do not hear objections I will forward this request to FDO admins.

I load this gradient in acroread and I see a reasonably linear gradient. Are
you sure you're not just seeing rendering artifacts in the viewer ? :-)

It is possible of course that we do some subsetting of gradients inside the VCL
rendering rather than writing them out to PDF as gradients, worth digging into:

vcl/source/gdi/pdfwriter.cxx

to see what is going on there.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51071] New: FILESAVE: CSV should be an export, not a save-as target

2012-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51071

 Bug #: 51071
Summary: FILESAVE: CSV should be an export, not a save-as
target
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: jendrikse...@web.de

Problem description:

As soon as there is more than 1 table in the spreadsheet, the CSV save-as
target becomes very error-prone.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create new spreadsheet test.ods
2. Create a table table1 with content A1=ABC
3. Create another table table2 with content A1=123
4. Open table2
5. Save as test.csv
6. Warning is shown that only the current table *was* saved

Current behavior: Only the currently opened table is saved, whenever "Save" is
chosen.

Expected behavior: There should be an error message on each save, saying that
only the current table was saved. Better would be to prevent the "save as csv"
option altogether and add an "export to csv" option.
The current implementation makes losing data very easy, because users might
expect all tables to be saved.

Platform (if different from the browser): Ubuntu 12.04

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko)

Confirming; not all bug commenter are hackers :-) please be patient with us.

Presumably this would be a reasonably easy easy-hack with a bit more detail;
let me try to find someone to help out with that.

Ah, something completely different. I see that in all my LibO versions starting
with 3.3.3 (for example "LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ),
but not 3.6.0 alpha/beta.
I see it sometimes in Documentation (GS3400-GettingStartedLibO.pdf" page 67),
but not always. I thougt that would be a feature, showing somehow active"
button, But I never understood the details.

It's also in AOOo 3.4

@Tomasz Sałaciński:
And are you sure that you observed that first with 3.6.0alpha1?

As I see yes - this happens in earlier versions of Libreoffice. So 3.6.0alpha1
is not the first version to introduce this.

But anyway - it would be nice to see this fixed.

This does look like the same bug. I was testing with single sheet files so I
never got the connection that it only happens on the last sheet. This would
also explain why a most users would not see the problem since the default
starts with 3 sheets and most users just leave the extra sheets.
Now if we can just get someone to fix this instead of spending time on 1 of the
14 releases scheduled for this year. I don't need 14 updates a years just a few
with less bugs. Just so you know AOO 3.4 does not have this bug and that is the
current "work around" I am using until LO gets this fixed. Just a little
venting since without the bugs stopping us I do like LO better and we are
trying to get our 3 companies to switch over from AOO to LO.

So the place to hack is filter/source/svg/svgexport.cxx, and the CalcFieldHdl
function there - a few text field values are already handled there, but

 text::textfield::Type::URL

is missing - stick that in, handle the SvxURLField item, and somehow convey
that to svgwriter.cxx.

Alternatively, (conceptually) copy a nasty hack that slideshow is using (see
slideshow/source/engine/shapes/drawshape.cxx:~1060):

In SVGActionWriter::ImplWriteActions:

if (pCurrAct->GetType() == META_COMMENT_ACTION) {
MetaCommentAction * pAct =
static_cast(pCurrAct);
// skip comment if not a special XTEXT comment
if (pAct->GetComment().equalsIgnoreAsciiCaseL(
RTL_CONSTASCII_STRINGPARAM("FIELD_SEQ_BEGIN") ) &&
// e.g. date field doesn't have data!
// currently assuming that only url field, this is
// somehow fragile! xxx todo if possible
pAct->GetData() != 0 &&
pAct->GetDataSize() > 0)
{
...
rtl::OUString aURL(
reinterpret_cast(
pAct->GetData()),
pAct->GetDataSize() / sizeof(sal_Unicode) )

That is, the data is already available in the metafile that gets exported -
just extract it & use it. For an easy hack, I think that's the easiest route.

I happened to run into this problem now, too, with the
LibO-Dev_3.6.0beta1_MacOS_x86_install_en-US.dmg currently available at
on a Mac OS 10.7.4 machine
that runs many different LO versions (so already had an existing
~/Library/Saved Application State/org.libreoffice.script.savedState (attached).
The backtrace is as below. Searching the web for
"promptToIgnorePersistentState" shows similar scenarios for other applications,
too, but gave no clue whether this is an application problem or an OS one.
Searching developer.apple.com for "promptToIgnorePersistentState" or
"NSPersistentUIManager" gives no results.

A workaround is to remove the ~/Library/Saved Application
State/org.libreoffice.script.savedState directory.

Sorry, I forgot to swtich Writer's interface language, so it's russian on my

Again for the big *.odb-file: HSQLDB saves old content in the database. Could
be you have deleted much rows but the file is bigger than before.
You have only to run the command "SHUTDWN COMPACT" in the SQL-mode. The old
data, which you can not see, would be deleted.

I don't understand why the Status of this report is "NEEDINFO"; therefore set
Status to "NEW", because this report is a valid feature/enancement request: the
reporter requests a WordPerfekt *export* filter, and LibreOffice really does
not have such a filter.

Changed Platform to "All", because this is not a MacOS X specific issue.

(In reply to comment #1)
> [de]" Der Import von in WordPerfect erstellten Dokumenten wurde wie auch der
> Export ins Rich Text Format deutlich verbessert." from
> http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice

> Maybe you should have a look at the advanced install ;)

Sorry, but why should this quote help the reporter? First, it is in German, and
we can't assuem that Mr. Hayashi reads German (why should he?); second, the
quote talks about WordPerfect *import* and *RTF* export, not about WordPerfect
*export*, as the reporter requested.

Hello Leon,

thank you very much for your report! However, I'm sorry to say so, but there
are good reasons why LibreOffice is not available at Apple's AppStore. It is a
complicated question of the License: AppStore is not "compatible" (in a legal
meaning of the word) with the LGPLv3 license. See bug 32848 for some details.

Any further discussion, if necessary, should be added to bug 32848, because
this was the first report about this issue.

NOT REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 (Build-ID:
165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18), German langpack installed, on MacOS X
10.6.8 German.

For me, everything works as expected: the welcome screen resizes correctly, the
icons move to the correct positions.

Hm ... just two ideas:

1) Maybe a special problem with MacOS X 10.7 (Fabrizio uses 10.7.3)?
-> Could someone else please test on MacOS X 10.7.x?

2) Could this depend on the screen size? I'm at 1680 x 1050 px ... if I
interpret Fabrizio's screenshot right, he uses 1920 x 1080 px.
-> Could some developer check if the screen size has some influence on the
resizing of the welcome screen? We QA volunteers can't check this ...

So, starting to look at alternatives to sqlite3, for now our best shot seems to
be Firebird.

Firebird: MPL-style licensing, first cursory glance OK featureset

The non-solutions:
MySQL/MariaDB/... : can be embedded, but GPL
CSQL: GPL
MonetDB: introduced embedded mode in 2004, but dropped it as of 2011 (source
says it was not a true embedded mode anyway, only a single client server)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50856] : Maximizing welcome screen screws up icon locations

2012-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50856

--- Comment #3 from Roman Eisele 2012-06-14 08:41:52 PDT ---
Well ... SORRY! Wait a minute!

I tried it again, and now I got it: If I just maximize the window or resize it
to a greater width, nothing strange happens for me (maybe this happens only
with an extremely large screen like Fabio's one?!), but I can reproduce the
problem if I shrink the window first to a very *narrow* width first (so that
not all controls of the welcome window fit into the window) and then resize the
window wildly: now I also see fany things! I will attach some screenshots.

So (sorry again!), indeed

* REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 (Build-ID:
165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18), German langpack installed, on MacOS X
10.6.8 German.

* REPRODUCIBLE LibreOffice 3.6.0beta1 (Build ID: 1f1cdd8), German langpack
installed, on MacOS X
10.6.8 German.

Two points which could be important:

1) For me, all these strange things disappear if I resize the window again very
slightly -- just two px wider or narrower, and the window looks fine again.
However, if after that I resize the window again wildly, i.e. if I make it very
narrow again, the funny things come back.

This seems to be a hint that there is just a little redraw problem -- i.e.,
sometimes after a "wild" resize the window is not redrawn correctly, and
another, slight resize is necessary to make the complete window redraw
correctly But:

2) If this is just a redraw problem, it must be a problem with the redraw of
the background of the window, i.e. with the white rectangle, its shadow and the
LibreOffice logo, not with the icons/controls ("Open ...", "New Text document",
etc.), because if I move the curser over any of the controls I notice that they
highlight correctly in place and are fully functional; so, what's wrong, is
rather the background than the icons/controls.

Set Status to NEW.

@Thorsten Behrens:
Given the fact that Andras (see comment #2) could not reproduce this on Linux
and Windows, this may be a MacOS-only (re)drawing problem. Could you have a
look into it? It is a minor issue, of course, but I agree to Fabrizio that it
is somewhat irritating. Especially new users could be confused and think of our

experimental spreadsheet to find error with formula BINOMDIST = (391, 462,
0.8, TRUE ())

I find abberrants results in open-office-calc on the binomial distribution
B(n,p). Only certain values of n and p in a timely manner produce random
errors.
This calculation.

   BINOMDIST = (391, 462, 0.8, TRUE ())

should give the probability of obtaining x=391 success on n=462 random
experiment with two issues and success probability p = 0.8. The real
calculation in various formal-calculator Texas or Casio gives 0.995603391,
libre-office gives 0,826 (Serious difference!)

While a formal calculator gives a probability p with 1-p< 10 ^ {-30} as soon as
x>420, libre-office gives results lower than 0.830 for all n <462.
It's only for x = 462 that we found the expected result: 1.

Most troubling is that the calculations of libre-office become again
consistent for n <> 462 and p = 0.801 and p = 0799. I have noticed this
inconsistency as rare as integer values n = 462, accidentally encountered by
testing the binomial distribution under libre-office with this spreadsheet
attached (error in cell J7 ).

P, S,: functionality on the same sheet in excel gives good results!?

If I take a look at my own screenshots, I get the impression that the problem
is *not* the bounding box of the rotated glyphs, but their *position*: they
look like shifted to the left outside of the ruler/window ...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51084] New: soffice.exe closes without displaying the application chooser if there are no LibO settings in the user profile

2012-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51084

 Bug #: 51084
Summary: soffice.exe closes without displaying the application
chooser if there are no LibO settings in the user
profile
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.5 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: rpr.nos...@gmail.com

Created attachment 63035
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63035
screenshot of performance of soffice.bin in Process Explorer

How to reproduce:

On a MS Windows 7 Pro. SP1 32-bit (tested on a PC with AMD Athlon II
X2 CPU on 3 GHz with 2 GiB of RAM) make a clean install of LibreOffice
3.5.4.2 using LibO_3.5.4_Win_x86_install_multi.msi. All additional
components were selected but no additional user interface languages
except English. Java 6 Update 32 was previously installed in Windows.

There are no LibO settings in the user profile, i.e.
"%APPDATA%\LibreOffice" directory does not exist (substitute %APPDATA%
with the value of the environment variable for the current user, e.g.
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\). You can test this on a user
account which has not used LibO previously or simply delete the
existing "%APPDATA%\LibreOffice" directory.

The user starts the soffice.exe for the first time which then runs for
some time and then closes without offering the LibO application
chooser. I'd say this may be confusing/frustrating for users,
especially if they are new to LibO.

During the execution of soffice.exe LibO settings have been created in
the "%APPDATA%\LibreOffice" directory. No messages related to LibO
have been logged in the Event Log.

Subsequently soffice.exe starts quickly and shows the application
chooser.

I monitored the execution with Process Explorer and Process Monitor
(see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals) and saw the
following: soffice.exe started soffice.bin which was then quite busy
for 150 seconds (see the attached performance graph) but eventually
closed. If someone would like to analize the execution, here is a link
to the zipped log (30 MiB) which can be opened in Process Monitor:

REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 (Build-ID:
165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18), German langpack installed, on MacOS X
10.6.8 German UI.

Steps used to reproduce:
1) Start LibreOffice
2) New Writer document
3) Make sure that at "Tools > AutoCorrect Options...> Options" for option
"Correct TWo INitial CApitals" both the [M] and the [T] checkbox is checked.
3) Type "Test: "
4) Select "Tools > Language > For the paragraph > More..." and select "English
(UK)" in the dialog window which appears then.
5) Continue typing: "THis is TEsting AUto COrrect."

Expected behaviour: the text gets corrected to "This is Testing Auto Correct."
automatically.

Acutual behaviour: the text appears without any changes as typed, i.e. "THis is
TEsting AUto COrrect."
