https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48709 --- Comment #1 from Walter Rudametkin rudamet...@gmail.com 2012-06-15 01:48:55 PDT --- Hi, I'm seeing this bug in LibreOffice 3.5.4.2, has there been any progress? It appears to have been reported at Ubuntu on 2011-08-23 apt-cache policy libreoffice-writer libreoffice-writer: Installed: 1:3.5.4-3 In my case, the percentage of the image that is lost varies. The more you reduce the image size the more it is cropped. I thought at first that the effect was only a display issue, but converting to pdf produces a cropped image too. Cropping occurs even at the original size, but to the best of my very short tests, it occurs only on the top, left and bottom parts of the image. The right size doesn't appear to crop. I tested png and svg images. A small workaround I found is to crop (i.e., Format-Picture-Crop) the image at between -1 and -1/2 cm to recover the lost parts of the image. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50697] EDITING: terrible memory leak with documents containing PostScript (.eps) images
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50697 --- Comment #1 from Milan Bouchet-Valat nalimi...@club.fr 2012-06-15 01:48:55 PDT --- Created attachment 63060 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63060 Text document to easily reproduce the leak OK, took me some work, but I managed to find out the root cause of the bug. It's not EPS images in general, it's *cropped* EPS (and maybe others) images. With the attached document, you can reproduce this at will with 3.6.0beta1 . You just have to insert a handful of line breaks and/or page breaks somewhere in the beginning of the text, and it will somehow invalidate the thumbnails that were previously created for the pictures. Then, just scroll down the doc, and you will see the memory and CPU use raise, and Writer hang for a few second. It really looks like changing the layout in some way acts like opening the document from scratch again, except that previously used memory is not freed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38948] FILESAVE - Calc does not save the solver's model to files
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38948 --- Comment #7 from roberto.tava...@gmail.com 2012-06-15 01:58:35 PDT --- I have the same problem! I want to use L.O. for teaching, but this bug really gets in the way, and I keep going back to MS Office... (In reply to comment #2) (In reply to comment #1) I vote for changing the importance of this bug to be at least normal for two reasons: - it would be critical if after entering a formula in a cell, instead of the formula, only the outcome (number) is saved to file - which is basically what happens with the solver objective and constraints. - this particular bug prevents (business) schools/ universities from teaching Libreoffice instead of Microsoft (and has been ignored by OpenOffice for about three years). I second this vote. I'm a college student currently going through operations research subjects which require linear programming as part of its syllabus, and so far LO Calc has been a big help in solving cases on integer programming we're being given in class. However, the lack of a save function shocked me when I discovered that my previously lengthy model in one particular problem all but disappeared when I reopened the file at a later time. This sounds like much more than a feature request. It's functionality that's missing, because no one in their right mind would create anything more than the most basic of LP models using Calc knowing that they would have to rebuild it EVERY SINGLE SESSION. I read in a similar bug post (32063) that implementing it would require changing the ODF spec. I propose for the solver to simply not save the model in the same *.ods file as the spreadsheet from which it is built, but rather in a separate file. I find this to be an elegant solution, since the implementer of the language solver would use to save the data is unconstrained to pick from any of the plentiful (and open) LP languages out there, with my own preference of GAMS. I'm sorry that it has not been answered for a long time, but we don't have enough QA volunteers to handle all that bugs ... However, there are good news: There has been much progress about the import of .docx files in the last months. If I open your sample file with LibreOffice 3.5.4, I get the impression that it looks much more like in MS Office 2010 than before; e.g., the headers are present now. Could you please try this yourself? Just download the current version of LibreOffice (3.5.4, or, in some days, 3.5.5 with even more fixes) and open the your file. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49613] [UI] The backspace key no longer works to delete automatically, even with compatibility / heritage mode enabled
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49613 andréb and...@laposte.net changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution||INVALID --- Comment #2 from andréb and...@laposte.net 2012-06-15 02:24:28 PDT --- Sorry, but since rebooting my system a few times, and restarting libreoffice 3.5, it now works as it did in libo 3.4. However it would be much better to by default use the backspace/delete key to delete a cell unconditionally, since it is large and in a standard location, and the tiny delete key whose location varies from keyboard to keyboard, to delete a cell selectively. That is how most editing applications work, and not only OpenOffice. It is much more user-friendly. The heritage mode is a workaround, but since its' stated purpose is to keep OpenOffice style shortcut keys, a lot of people are being unnecessarily forced to use those shortcut keys, which is likely to make end-user support more complicated. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51119] New: EDITING: OLE objects from writer are impossible to manage
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51119 Bug #: 51119 Summary: EDITING: OLE objects from writer are impossible to manage Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: LibO 3.5.4 release Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Status Whiteboard: BSA Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Presentation AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: silva...@katamail.com Created attachment 63074 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63074 a writer file where you can copy the text that doesnt go well in Impress Problem description: copying a writer text object (e.g. simply a text paragraph from a writer doc currently open) and pasting it in Impress as is is (i.e. as a writer object) gives you severely unpredictable results. the size of the pasted object, the visibility of its content, its similarity to the original object are all deeply unpredictable. It is unfortunately very easy to give an example: 1. open the attached original odt file.odt, and select and copy the large sized title at the beginning 2. open a new impress presentation, and paste what you copied into the first page 3. You get a rectangular object with nothing visible; if you double click on it, you'll see the text of the original title, but when you click outside to end the edit nothing is visible anymore. 4. To actually see the text in the object, you have to enlarge it a lot; then you see the text in it, but it will likely be split on two lines! 5. when you double click on it after enlarging, the text will be shown on a single line and back at the upper left corner of the object; moreover, while the open object has a grey thick border with some small black handles at its corners, on the right side only you will have also the more common green handles of selected objects, but they will be slightly to the right of the object, as if they were suspended in a vacuum. It is not clear if they make sense (and what sense) or are only a bug. 6. now drag one of the black handles on the right side of the object while open, and resize it making it smaller: while you do it, it seems possible, and the text shrinks as being squeezed. However when you click outside to finish editing, the object returns to its previous size and the last edit described is totally lost. There are a few more glitches that could be described, but it would make this message really too long. I would say that the whole functionality concerning writer ole objects needs thorough revision. Notice that, while writer OLE objects behaviour in Open Office has never been fully reliable, things seem to have turned for the worse lately. Right now, the only thing to do if you want to stay on the safe side is to completely avoid using such functionality. Which is a bit annoying, since a writer object has much more flexibility than an impress text object (e.g. you can get hyphenation, which you don't have in impress text objects). I guess that we havn't implemented DOCX import/export of the connectors yet. So, it is not a regression and it can't block the release = reducing the severity a bit. Hmm, LO-3.4 shows the connectors on wrong position even in ODT import. LO-3.6 is even worse. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51121] : Documents produced by LO 3.5.x and 3.4.x fail to open correctly when sent through Outlook Web Access
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51121 Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |NEEDINFO --- Comment #3 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com 2012-06-15 10:09:25 PDT --- To even begin to try to work around this horrible Outlook (or more likely Outlook virus checker) stupidity - assuming it can be worked around I need the following: * a very simple document for which this is the case: Hello World in writer would do. * the -identical- simple document when loaded and re-saved in Apache OpenOffice. Now we need to take these two documents and send them through the mail server verify that it destroys -only- the LibreOffice one. Then - please attach both of the documents (clearly labelled) to the bug. Then we can look at the difference and try to suggest some fixes; perhaps it is work-around-able, perhaps not. Without that, it's impossible to know why a given Outlook/Exchange setup we don't have access to is truncating certain documents to zero length. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
