I doubt that we have a really new problem here, and it's simply too painful to
get required information (within 10 days we even did not get a sample
document). So I close this bug as INVALID.

@Peter Selby
Please excuse me for closing this bug, but unfortunately it seems to be
difficult for you to contribute requested information.

I can reproduce with LibreOffice 3.5.5.RC1 binaries (deb packages), but not
every time. E.g. it can work OK 5 times in a row, but then on the 6th time I
get the freeze. So looks like some kind of race condition.

Precise reproduction instructions:

 - download attachment 63239
 - click on "reports"
 - double-click on "Query_journal_NEW_REPORT_BUILDER"
 - in the new window that opens, right-click
 - in the context menu that appears, click "edit"

Base file to use for testing

If I open a report made with new Report builder
(libobasis3.5-extension-report-builder_3.5.5-1_amd64.deb) and right click edit
(see instructions below for fixing a simple problem with the report) both the
LO Base and the LO Writer (for the report) hang. Checking processes, I see
that soffice.bin is running at 100%.

Instructions:
1) Open ccts_tst_minus_defrag.odb with LO Base.
2) Open Report "Query_journal_NEW_REPORT_BUILDER"
3) Right click edit to allow me to fix a problem -- all of LO hangs.

If one substitutes for 3) above:

3_alt) "Save a copy" of report, LO hangs again after saving the copy of the
report.

-

INSTRUCTIONS to fix not-enough-rows to show data problem:

This is bug fdo#45789, see
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45789

In the meantime, you can (manually or with a Basic macro) do:

 - open report
 - right click, edit
 - select all rows
 - right click, row, optimal height

It sucks, I know.

I used Revo uninstaller to remove LO and deleted the LOdev profile folder
before reinstalling. I had Java 7 update 5 and Java 6 current version (36?) 32
and 64 bit versions installed. I uninstalled them all and checked the registry
for any obvious Java related entries before trying LO again.

According to a thread [0] that turn up on a google incantation, Tiger does have
sqlite3 bundled.

Also, this StackOverflow thread [0] gives hints as to ways to link it from the

> If you must link with Tiger's sqlite3, all you need to do is add this to your

Finally, in Apple's open source browser one can find the sqlite source they
used for e.g 10.4.11 [3]. The VERSION file confirms 3.1.3.

Empty pages

Well, the problem has been here for months (maybe years), but I'd like to know
whether I can get rid of the empty pages (three of them) in the end of my notes
document. It is a big text file, and let's say I search for something using the
Ctrl+ F buttons, I find it in the beginning of the file, and then I take the
slider and bring it to the bottom (so I can read the latest of my notes there),
and I have to go three pages up in order to reach the end of the text.
Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot ...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51241] New: VIEWING/UI: Page-by-page navigation needs love

2012-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51241

 Bug #: 51241
Summary: VIEWING/UI: Page-by-page navigation needs love
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.4 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: forad...@gmail.com

Page-by-page navigation needs attention to ensure a functional experience which
exhibits a systematic logic no matter how the page-by-page change is done.

The current experience, on 3.5.4.2 and 3.4.x, does not work effectively. It
only works consistently at just the right level of zoom and only works with the
Navigation toolbar set to 'Page' and then clicking on the 'next' and 'previous'
(which I use at the bottom of the vertical scrollbar).

There are three modes of input (of which I know) for page by page navigation:
  * key presses on the 'PgUp' or 'PgDn' keys,
  * mouse clicks on the Navigation toolbar/widget at base of vertical
scrollbar,
  * mouse wheel incremental rolls, some integer number of which will result in
a full page move.
I would expect similar or identical behaviour with all three. Note that the
latter case has been described in:
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42794

Note that there are several different zoom cases to consider:
  * UI zoomed to a fraction of a physical page,
  * UI zoomed to a full page,
  * UI zoomed to more than a full page.
Regardless of the state, the expectation is that the UI will skip ahead so that
an integer number of inputs (key presses, mouse clicks, scroll wheel scrolls)
will result in the UI being in the identical state to the initial view but one
page further in the document.

Currently, the Navigation toolbar/widget works but only if the entire top of
the page is visible including the header (in my case always empty) and more but
not quite the whole 'paper' page, I am not sure why. On a constrained desktop,
say a laptop, it is helpful to be able to zoom into the page as much as
possible (in my case at 100% I can get all the text without the headers and
footers, plus the comments). However, if I do that, currently the page down
navigation will skip to the next page but will move the page to show a lot of
blank at the top of the page. The work around is to zoom out and expose a lot
of blank area which wastes screen estate but enables skipping forwards and back
without having the relative position of the page change at all.

Currently, the use of the 'PgUp' and 'PgDn' keys moves by some random amount,
without hitting the same position on the neighbouring page after an integer
number of clicks. Similarly, the scroll wheel (which for me is *not* set to go
page by page) does not land on the same position after twenty two clicks.

Thanks for the great work on libreoffice!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50682] On MacOS X 10.7, 'import uno' crashes in the LibreOffice-provided Python

2012-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50682

--- Comment #7 from Stephan Bergmann 2012-06-19 13:12:23
PDT ---
At least on Mac OS X 10.7.4, the dlopen of libpyuno.dylib from pyuno.so
(pyuno/source/module/pyuno_dlopenwrapper.c) fails with a dlerror of

dlopen(/Users/stephan/Desktop/LOdev.app/Contents/MacOS/libpyuno.dylib, 10):
Symbol not found: _sqlite3_wal_checkpoint
  Referenced from:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CFNetwork.framework/Versions/A/CFNetwork
  Expected in: /Users/stephan/Desktop/LOdev.app/Contents/MacOS/libsqlite3.dylib
 in
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CFNetwork.framework/Versions/A/CFNetwork

"Make PyUNO work --with-macox-version-min-required=10.6" on recent master
towards LO 3.7 fixes this when *building* on Mac OS X 10.7.4, but not when
*running* a stock build (based on the 10.4 SDK) on Mac OS X 10.7.4.

Whether it would be OK to adapt that fix to always build LO on Mac OS X against
system libsqlite3.dylib instead of one from LO's nss module, I do not know. I
do not have a baseline Mac OS X 10.4 to check whether its system
libsqlite3.dylib (if any) would be sufficient.

Hi,

I tried to rename C:\Program Files\LibreOffice
3.5\presets\basic\Standard\Module1.xba to something else, but the problem is
still here.

Is that what you suggested to do ?

and how to possibly do this. Moving back to NEW & assigning it to myself for
the time being. I'll post when a final decision and/or fix has been made.

dont mindlessly touch the icc-header file on every build

- this little gremlin touches the header file everytime it is run
- as icc is very low level, this causes a lot of pointless rebuild
- everything from vcl up gets relinked
- this slows every empty 'make build' down by more than 40 percent
- would really need to check if the file changed before writing, but as
we
rarely change icc itself, I didnt bother with that

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51239] New: An extremely slow search/browse through a database table

2012-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51239

 Bug #: 51239
Summary: An extremely slow search/browse through a database
table
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: ad...@timbacore.co.za

Libre Office Base is extremely slow when sifting through the database table. I
have a table with 3+ entries which can take up to 20 minutes to sift
through. Generally I can use the slider to move to the vicinity in the table
where I want to be, but this freezes the table for a while. At its worst, the
base table crashes and closes LibreOffice entirely, at times at the cost of the
entire file.
This is Linux specific as Windows does not share this problem.
Previous versions (3.x) of both Open and Libre Office also had this problem,
but with Linux, I "downgraded" my Java Runtime to 1.6.22 and this would solve
the problem. (Actually, I would manually install the 1.6.22 version to my /opt
folder and guide Libre Office to it.) Since 3.5, this no longer works either.
I previously ran Linux Mint 9 with Libre Office 3.5.4 installed from the
command line. I then upgraded to Linux Mint 13 with LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 as the
resident office suite. Both have this problem. I ran Open Suse 11.3 on another
machine and installed Libre Office 3.5.4... and same problem again. However,
Windows XP and 7 do not share this, regardless of the JRE installed.
I have registered with rapidshare and will upload a watered down version of the
bug as soon as possible. Details to follow.

This is yet another report about visual problems related to the new UI
look on MacOS X. I add your address to the CC list. It is a trivial problem, of
course (an off-by-one drawing error), but I hope it should also be trivial to
fix ;-)

Horizontal rulers, old and new — comparison of screenshots

When I compare the new look (3.6beta 1 and Master) of the LibreOffice rulers
with the old look (3.5.x) and with Kendy's Linux screenshot at

http://artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~kendy/blog/pics/updated-rulers.png

I get the impression that on MacOS X all figures in the new horizontal rulers
are off by 1px: they are not centered vertically anymore between the top and
the bottom line of the horizontal ruler, but they have moved about 1px in
direction of the top line.

See the attached comparison of screenshots, which shows 3 times the horizontal
rulers. Both on the 3.5.x screenshot and on Kendy's Linux screenshot the
figures are centered vertically between the top and the bottom line of the
horizontal ruler, but not on the new 3.6beta 1 on MacOS X screenshot.

Screenshots were made with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 and 3.6 beta 1, German langpacks
installed, on MacOS X 10.6.8, German UI.

This is a trivial bug, but it should also be trivia to fix ;-) And too many
little visual problems sum up to an ugly user interface. So please fix this.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47636] Extremely slow display when using bulleted lists

--- Comment #5 from Caolán McNamara 2012-06-19 07:04:07

hmm, if I make the example much longer I can get a pretty sluggish document. To
try and make sure I don't fix a different problem can I get the following...

a) Load the doc and go to the top of the first page. Hold down the page down
button and stopwatch time how many seconds does it take before you hit the end
of the last page ?
b) Now ctrl+a (to select all). Format->character and select "Liberation Sans"
to change all the text to that font. Now go to the top of the first page. Hold
down the page down button and stopwatch time how many seconds does it take
before you hit the end of the last page ?

i.e. does changing the font to "Liberation Sans" make it much faster

basic script causing Calc slow down

this module contains some macros and functions used in Calc for byte
manipulation (hex conversion, CRC8 calculations). starting from LibO 3.5.4.2 I
experienced a hard slow down of performance, which could be removed by deleting
this module.
In previous versions of LibO (and OpenOffice) I had no problems with that.

@Ivan Timofeev:
You have fixed a lot of UI problems in LibreOffice. Now this is yet another
general UI bug, present both on MacOS X and Ubuntu (see comment #9). It is not
a terrible issue, but still irritating, and may make look LibreOffice
"unprofessional". Could you have a look at this problem?

Thank you very much in advance!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50428] UI: Window switching on MacOS X with Lithuanian UI via shortcut (Cmd+`) makes problems

   ||MacOS X with Lithuanian UI
   ||via shortcut (Cmd+`) makes
   ||problems

--- Comment #3 from Roman Eisele 2012-06-19 06:11:17 PDT ---
Thank you very much for your bug report!

I can not exactly confirm this problem (maybe because I can't set the UI
language of my MacOS to Lithuanian, which may be needed), but give some points
which may help with clarification.

(a) This seems to be a special issue with the Lithuanian UI of LibreOffice and
the Lithuanian keyboard layout (therefore, it is necessary to set the MacOS
keyboard layout to Lithuanian for testing, and to install the Lithuanian
langpack for LibreOffice and to set the LibreOffice UI language to Lithuanian).

(b) On the Lithuanian keyboard layout, the '<' key, which is used for the
general MacOS X shortcut Cmd+< for exchanging windows, is labelled '`', so the
Cmd+< shortcut becomes Cmd+` in Lithuanian.

(c) When I follow the Steps to reproduce given by Vincas and using LibreOffice
3.5.4 on Mac OS X 10.6.8, German UI, I get a similar, but slightly different
result (maybe because I can't set the UI language of my MacOS X to Lithuanian):

1) Open two Calc or Writer Documents.
2) Press Cmd+`.
> A '`' symbol with selection appears in the place of the cursor; if any text
> was selected, the selected text is replaced by the '`'
3) Press Cmd+` again
> This time, the windows are exchanged as expected ...

So, even if I can't confirm exactly the original description, it seems clear
that there is a problem with the Cmd+` shortcut. This is related to the
Lithuanian keyboard and UI; with, e.g., the German UI and keyboard, which uses
Cmd+< for exchanging windows, everything works fine.

@Vincas:
1) Please verify if my observations and ideas are correct -- i.e., are you
really using the Lithuanian UI for LibreOffice, or am I wrong?
2) Which MacOS X language do you use: also Lithuanian, or somethig different?

Limiting Bug report to this cofirmed observation.

Overlay only appears at bottom of the thumbnail (as I have been used to see it)
as long as the slides pane scroll slider is at the top position. If it's only a
very little bit down overlay will appear at the top of the thumbnails of all
slides (except most top one.

Same effect in Outline View

Fabien,
If understood that right, this is what is described at the beginning of this
bug.
ANY slide moved to a different position ends up being the first slide. So if
you move the first slide, it will end up being the first slide.
Please confirm, that this is also happening with other slides than the first
one.

Quite agree with l.dayot. When reading the number of options in man zip here :
http://pwet.fr/man/linux/commandes/zip
I wonder if it could be a special config which triggers a deletion from OWA.
In my job, we found a similar problem of file transfert according to the zip
tool used before transfert.

I don't know at all OWA but :
- could it be possible to have details logs of OWA ?
- is there an existing bugtracker which would refer a zip problem ?

ReportedBy: daniel.ma...@umb.no

Created attachment 63225
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63225
Describes buggy behaviour of slide thumbnail overlay

The slide thumbnail overlay "start presentation, disable slide, copy slide",
that gets blended in when the mouse cursor was being moved over a slide
thumbnail, interferes with the user's work flow.

The bug(s) is explained easily in the attached file, which might be more
comprehensible than the following description.

Apparently the position of the overlay depends on the point of entry of the
mouse cursor onto the slide thumbnail. When the cursor is being moved onto a
thumbnail from the bottom, the overlay will appear in the upper part of the
thumbnail. But when the user rests the cursor in that upper part and clicks to
activate/edit that slide, an unexpected action is carried out because the user
will click on one of the commands of the overlay instead!
The position of the overlay should depend on the position of the mouse cursor,
and not on the point of entry onto the slide thumbnail.
Furthermore, there is a bug with the overlay position. When the the thumbnail
view is scrolled down a little, the overlay always appears in the upper part of
a thumbnail, independently of the point of entry.

And as usual, this should be optional! The user should be able to
enable/disable the overlay from a context menu of any slide thumbnail and in an
"advanced" menu in the options window.
>From a design point of view, the way the overlay blends in soothes the eye, but
this can be annoying when a "special effect" takes to long to "do its thing".

Thanks for the tip.

I have a simple tip:
Move the pointer (mouse) to the text and see if the "font" dropdown under the
toolbar has been switched to another font.

The widths look quite the same so if there is no objections, we can close this

May be resize functionality added recently and not completely finished.

Where is more handy to hold window size: in document (each document hold it's

The problem coudn't consist in the zip process?
In fact, when unzip the original lo.odt, without any change in files contents,
and zip again, the new.lo.odt pass the test and no problem occurs.

Other information, the same problem occurs with other version of ODF format
(1.2 non extended or 1.0/1.1) with LibreOffice.

This is not a bug in 3.5.5 and 3.6.0+. It is a fixed bug in them. Before the
fixed bug we did not calculate the size of the border correctly, all border
between 0.05pt and 1pt looked exactly the same than we had one step till 2.0pt
and so one while we allowed to have a precision of 0.01pts.

It would be interesting to see if the ODF 1.2 tags are what cause the grief -
potentially OWA is allergic to ODF 1.2 ;-)

Patrice - any chance of checking to see what file Apache OO.o 3.4 produces
(this should be much more similar to ours), and whether that suffers the same
problem ?

Another thing to try is to unzip originalLIBO.odt and re-zip it - see if that
has an effect.

Finally - I hope you filed this bug with Microsoft: ultimately it is really
their issue - they should not be corrupting & truncating valid ODF documents
going through their software ! :-)

Same size, same settings; the only difference ImageMagick's 'compare' can see
is a trivial, single pixel rendering difference at the end of 'World's d -
which surely can't be the issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51228] New: Allow connection to spreadsheet with relative path

2012-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51228

 Bug #: 51228
Summary: Allow connection to spreadsheet with relative path
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: hend...@hendrikmaryns.name

LibreOffice 3.5.3.2
Build ID: 350m1(Build:2)

(Note: I have dutch l10n, so strings below might not be correct.)

I want to connect a database with a spreadsheet in the same directory. It is
understandable that when making the database with the wizard, an absolute path
is required, since the database doesn’t exist yet. But I want to be able to
connect it to a local file. So:

Edit -> Database -> Properties
Change the path to just the filename.
(OK is accepted, but afterwards the database doesn’t work. This is subbug 1.)
The real bug occurs when you hit ‘test connection’:

SQL-status: HY000

Het bestand file:///Lehrplan%20Mathe%20Haarlem.ods kon niet worden geladen.
(English: the file … could not be loaded)

De poging om het bestand in te lezen geeft volgende foutboodschap
(com.sun.star.lang.IllegalArgumentException):
(English: The attempt to read the file gives the following error …)

Unsupported URL : ""

Please make this possible. It makes databases more portable. In this case, I
want to send the database and the spreadsheet and a text file that references
its fields to colleagues to use. It is unwanted that they would have to either
create the same directory structure or edit the database file to re-register
the spreadsheet.

OK, IMHO the information in https://github.com/dagwieers/unoconv/issues/27 is
sufficient to set this report's Status field to NEW (some comments in the
quoted discussion talk explicitely about LibreOffice on MacOS X 10.7).

To sum it up: if I understand correctly, this is not a bug in unoconv (as the
quoted discussion seems to suggest at the very (!) first glance; but then this
would be NOTOURBUG), but it is a bug in LibreOffice itself which prevents the
LibreOffice-provided Python from working together with Uno, and therefore also
makes unoconv stop working. However, this issue seems to be present on MacOS X
10.7 (Lion) only.

@Loic Nageleisen:
is my summary halfway correct?

Some differences at extraction around ordering in the streams and/or directory:

Which is interesting - although that ordering should really have -no- impact at
all. Don'tcha love all those empty Configurations2/ directories that are
created - most likely as a random programming side-effect of our ultra-lame UNO
package / path handling implementations ;-)

Thanks for bugreport
Import and copy-paste is completely different thing.
For importing we should use Insert->Picture->From file

During copy-paste all pictures automatically transformed to jpeg format.
Obviously alpha-channel is lost. It is almost a bug.

Just compare the "g" on Linux vs the screenshot on Windows. Different fonts are
used, and you cannot expect them to have equal metrics.

You need to install the same font to get the same rendering (but check the
license of the font whether it is permitted)

This should not be noticeable. Possibly here we see regression. Some things
become very slow comparing with previous version of LibreOffcie.

In any case, developers working on improving performance. LO will more quick in
next year.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38731] Papiamentu not avaliable as language

--- Comment #12 from Ace Suares 2012-06-19 01:38:10 PDT ---
Thanks for the feedback!

I will try to make a locale ASAP, and I will just make a choice to copy the
Dutch locale for the main part.

pap_an can be transferred to pap_cw one on one,
I just need to update the spellchecker for it.

pap_aw will stay as is

pap_bq is too early to make I think, but if you want to be done with it, well
please go ahead :-)

And now for the suggested text next to the choices:

pap_aw: Papiamento (Aruba)
pap_cw: Papiamento (Curacao)
pap_bq: Papiamento (Bonaire)

In english, the language is called Papiamento. The () means the country where
they are spoken (Except Bonaire is not a country). Curacao (not Curaçao) is the
correct spelling in English, as far as I know.

I would be very happy to see this fixed!

Cheers
ace

On one hand it is true. On the other hand, LibreOffice 3.6 does not need Java
for help indexing and free text search. So this bug is getting less important.

I added sberg and caolan to cc, they worked on enabling Java 1.7.

I would like to insist on this bug which is very inconvenient for all Mac users
in business.
It did not occur with OpenOffice.org, it is only with LibreOffice it appeared.
The same bug affect Apache OpenOffice 3.4.

How to reproduce:
You need to have 3 macs : 1 server 2 clients
I've only try with MacOS leopard 10.5 server.
On the server configure AFP shared folder.
On the two client connect to this folder. ( afp://myserver.com )
Open an odt file (but same bug with all files) on the first client
Open the same file on the over client.

You will see this message :
"Error during shared access to /Volumes/MySharedFolder/myfile.odt."

And the file can't be opened at all, even in read only.

Thanks for bugreport
> all the values appear in one cell
This happens only if select text in cells (hold Ctrl and select text by mouse).
But not happens if select cells.

Currently most reliable variant to move cells is this:
- Select cells needed to move
- Press Ctrl-X
- Place text cursor into first cell, where values should be appear and press
Ctrl-V

> 1. mark the values in a few rows of a column
> 2. drag the marked block to one row below
In such situation all values except of first disappears at all
The same with cells in row.

"width" in your sentence. What width?

Yes, DejaVuSans.ttf are available on both Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7

# By "Cambria", do you mean the name of the font (Calibri)?

vuhung@ubuntu:~$ fc-match Calibri
