in case it helps: all the other impress testcases in xmloff trigger this too,
so the bug description is just there to get a reproducable minimal testcase.

Thanks for bugreport
Page style - it is property of paragraph. If needed to change page style only
for specific page, then place text cursor on first line of this page, do
Format->Paragraph, tab "Text flow", area "Breaks". Set there needed page style.
Do the same with next page to switch to previous page style again.

Possible page style needed to be created before switch to it.
If this needed often in newly created documents, create document template with
many useful page styles and set it as default template. But do not change
current existing templates.

And this is not a bug.

MediaWiki
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: silvio.moi...@telcosrl.it

The "Save as type:" drop down list in the "File->Export..." dialog does NOT
contain "MediaWiki (.txt)".

Also, selecting "File->Send->To Mediawiki..." brings up an error dialog: "The
MediaWiki export filter cannot be found. Choose Tools-XML Filter Settings to
install the filter, or use the setup to install the component.".

Note that the Mac version exports to MediaWiki without problems.

Tested on Windows 7 Professional, Java 6 Update 31.

Thanks for new idea
I fully agree with it. Changing status to New
Especially with enabling Backup by default.

Few small considerations:
After several months of backuping user profile becomes very big. Proposing add
remainder that one time per months asks user about deleting old backups.

> default delay should not be 10 min but maximum 5 min (I always configure this

This is good when saving of document takes about one second. But big document
save up to minute. In such situation saving should be taken more rare (with
more long periods between saving).

@frob: this file is funny, the visible pages don't have the structure of pages
that we normally know. With page pointer that after has chunks with page chunk
first. In this document, the page looks more like a stencil page. The page
pointer with again pointers for pageSheet, shape=shape, ... that themselves
point to chunks. The problem is that how can we know that we should expect this
kind of layout? Oletoy handles it well, but I did not get completely how it
arbiters which parsing to use. Please advise.

@John: We are working on it. But if we fix it, this will be such an intrusive
change that nobody ever will agree to have it in 3.5.x line. So the target
might be 3.6 at best :(
The document looks different from what we saw before and an additional
reverse-engineering and understanding of how it actually works will be needed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51136] Spreadsheet from OOo 3.3 broken in Libreoffice 3.4 on Mac

2012-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51136

--- Comment #6 from Roman Eisele 2012-06-22 01:35:34 PDT ---
@Alex: thank you for your helpful explanation!

(In reply to comment #5)
> The problems occur where an operation is performed on a cell that is NULL.
> This is evaluated as a string, thus any mathematical operations involving
> a NULL string will fail and return an error.
>
> If you type in the number '0', as you have done so already in certain places
> in
> your sheet, then the formulae will evaluate correctly.

Maybe it is even easier (and the problem even more simple).

If I take a look at, e.g., the cells G103 and following and H103 and following
which all just display "#VALUE", I see that they contain simple formulas like
(G103) "=G102-C103+E103". Now for G103 the problem are C103 and/or E103, which
(if I understand correctly!) evaluate to 0, but are treated as NULL/text values
now. To fix this, you can either put "0" into C103, as Alex suggested, or, even
simpler, just *delete* the contents of C103 -- because C103 is NOT empty, as it
looks, but contains a single " " (space).

As soon as I delete the space in C103, LibreOffice (3.5.4) correctly recognizes
the contents of C103 as number = 0.00, and G103 and following contain numeric
values again instead of "#VALUE". Exactly the same is true for D103: as soon as
I delete the " " from D103, the colum H103 and following contain numeric values
again instead of "#VALUE".

So, if I understand correctly, this problem is even an arbitrarily change of
behaviour. IMHO it makes sense that LibreOffice, when it encounters a cell
containing a " ", thinks that this cell contains plain text (not a number) --
of course, " " *is* text and not a number. It does make some sense to evaluate
a really empty cell to 0.0, but it is at least not self-explaining that " "
should be evaluated to 0.0, too ... Therefore, the change of the handling of
cells containing " " in LibreOffice 3.4 seems reasonable to me.

It is still a pity that this breaks existing spreadsheets which contain some "
" that are meant to evaluate to 0.0 . But as far as I can see, just deleting
some spaces from a relatively small number of cells (e.g., E155 is another
candidate) will suffice to make your sheet working again -- it is not even
necessary to put zeros into all that cells.

A single "Find and replace" action which "Regular expression" checked and "^ $"
as value in the "Search for" and just "" (empty) in the "Replace" field may be
helpful here. It may be necessary to select "Values" from the popup menu
"Search in". If I just insert these values and then click "Replace all" once,
all "#VALUE" entries seem to be gone -- I see numeric values everywhere. Maybe
this is sufficient to heal your complete spreadsheet?

like the slides were deleted. They were not, we just ended in unexpected view -
master slides view. (I think Florian in comment 10 found it too, but I wasn't

in 3.5.4 on Fedora 64 bit pictures seen on press F5. But depending on:
Tools->Options->LibreOffice->View-> "Use hardware acceleration"
if enabled, then no transition effect
if disabled, then effect present
in both cases seen one blink before something appears

in 3.3.4 on Fedora 64 bit all works correctly in both cases, not blinking
therefore regression after 3.3.4

in 3.6.b1 on Fedora 64 bit the same problem as in 3.5.4
on Windows not tested

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51327] New: EDITING: ctrl+shift+left/right arrow doesn't select previous/next word

2012-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51327

 Bug #: 51327
Summary: EDITING: ctrl+shift+left/right arrow doesn't select
previous/next word
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: lemag...@gmail.com

Problem description:

When using ctrl+shift+up/down arrows to select previous/next paragraph, it
works well, but ctrl+shift+left/right arrows doesn't work anymore. The cursor
stays at the original position instead and no text is selected.

ctrl+left/right arrows has the expected behaviour : the cursor goes to the
previous/next word. But when I add the shift key the behaviour is not
consistent with what is explained in libreoffice help page : no text is
selected and the cursor doesn't move.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create a new document with writer
2. type several words
3. try ctrl+shift+left/right arrows to select previous/next words

Current behavior:

The cursor doesn't move and no text is selected.

Expected behavior:

The cursor should move to the previous/next word, and select the previous/next
word.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0

Sample document, fixed (I hope) via replace all "^ $" by "" (RegEx)

@ sj...@yahoo.com:

Please take a look at the attachment. It is your sample document, improved by
the simple Regular Expressions (RegEx) Find-and-Replace action I have suggested
in my previous comment. Could you please examine the file and state if the
problem is really fixed, i.e. if all formulas seem work correctly again?

Thank you very much!

IMHO problem is not in UNDO, but in incorrect displaying of document initially.
After UNDO Writer redraws content and all becomes correct.

On closer inspection, setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH in LO's python wrapper script
appears to be completely unnecessary after all.

I intend to get the above fix for master and libreoffice-3-6 (see comment 14

see

First I suspected some uninitialized memory issue. I run the conversion in
valgrind and the venerable tool did not find any. So I decided to simply patch
the crash itself, since I cannot reproduce the crash and introspection of the
file does not help me to advance either.

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 Beta2
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

Steps how to reproduce with parallel installation of Master "LOdev "
3.7.0.0.alpha0+ - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: 8d39b7]"
(tinderbox: W2008R2@16-minimal_build, pull time 2012-06-20 04:38:46) - from
Original AOOo Bug:
1. New Text document from LibO Start center
2. Insert two drawing objects(Rectangle + Ellipse).
3. Group the two objects (click1, than select area around other one with
dragged left mouse button for selection) then ungroup them.
4. Select the Rectangle and add a Caption for it.
5. Press Ctrl+Z twice, then click the Ellipse
   > CRASH

Already reproducible with LibO 3.3.3 and OOo 3.2-dev, so inherited from OOo

I already deleted ~/.config/libreoffice3 as said in the description. it did not
help. i think there is a problem related to anything in/on my system. i cannot
reproduce this bug on an other arch linux machine (also x86_64), which runs a
quite similar configuration.

Really sorry about LO profile comment, I should have reread your entire
description.
Found nothing there too:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LibreOffice
but it could be useful to add the solution if it can be found :-)

Did you try to switch off hardware acceleration ? (There have been bugs linked
to this, no crash however and fixed, see fdo#46901)

If still reproduce, could you retrieve an useful backtrace by following this
link ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51331] New: Writer jumps to the middle of document when trying to edit OLE object

2012-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51331

 Bug #: 51331
Summary: Writer jumps to the middle of document when trying to
edit OLE object
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: schumme...@gmx.de

When trying to edit an OLE object like a drawing in a document with >1 page,
Writer always jumps somewhere in the middle of the document, regardless where
the drawing is actually positioned within the document. This makes it necessary
to scroll all the way through the document to the position where the OLE object
is situated before you can edit it.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Create document in writer containing several pages.
2) Insert OLE object (drawing) at the end of the document (Insert->Object->OLE
Object->drawing)
3) double-click on created OLE object

Result:
Writer jumps to another (random?) position somewhere in the middle of the
document.

This also happens when inserting an already existing drawing as OLE object.
This behavior was only reproducable in OS X, but not in Linux for me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51332] New: EDITING: Creating labels: horizontal pitch ignored

2012-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51332

 Bug #: 51332
Summary: EDITING: Creating labels: horizontal pitch ignored
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bz-freedesk...@florian-schmitt.net

Problem description:
When creating labels using Menu "File" -> "New" -> "Labels", writer will ignore
settings for horizontal pitch. Instead, the label areas are placed without
separating space between them. This will render the output unusable, since the
label areas of the writer document don't fit the labels.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the label wizard using Menu "File" -> "New" -> "Labels";
2. Either select a predefined label layout that uses horizontal pitch, like
"Avery Letter Size" -> "5167 Return Address", or create a custom label document
and set a value for horizontal pitch greater than the label width. Optionally,
add a value for vertical pitch to compare effects of both settings.
3. Hit "New Document". Optionally, activate display of Text Boundaries. This
will show the grid of labels created by Writer.

Current behavior:
The label columns are placed side by side, without any space between them.

Expected behavior:
There should be a space between the label columns, depending on the horizontal
pitch value. If the label width is set to 2cm (or inch or whatever), and the
horizontal pitch is set to 2.5cm, there should be a 0.5 space between the label
columns.

Platform (if different from the browser): Tested with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 /
Win7 64bit and same LO Version / Ubuntu 10.04.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:10.0.5) Gecko/20100101

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48022] Impress SLIDESHOW: ppt file shown incorrectly when hardware acceleration enabled on Linux

2012-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #5 from grofaty 2012-06-22 05:13:15 PDT ---
Now I have also tested on LibreOffice 3.5.3.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 and LibreOffice
3.5.4.2 on Ubuntu 12.04. I can confirm document can also be opened on Ubuntu,
so major problem solved.

Just reading sasha's respond more carefully. I also do not see any transitions
effect on Windows/Ubuntu. There is just a blink.

But major problem is solved, I can at least open a file and see slide-show
(which I was unable at bug report time).

John,

do you know what version of Visio made this file?

It uses known types of structures in unusual way, so r.e. part is minimal, but
it could require significant changes in parser code of libvisio.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50861] The look of a document should be independent from the platform and user settings

2012-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50861

--- Comment #2 from Benjamin Drung 2012-06-22
07:46:16 PDT ---
I don't know if we talk about the same thing. I'll try to give examples:

1) Open Writer
2) Type some text
3) Save the document as document1.odt
4) Go to Options -> LibreOffice Writer -> Basic Fonts (Western) and select a
diffent font (e.g. change from Arial to Times New Roman)
5) Select the text and apply the default style [the font type will change to
the newly selected font]
6) Save the document as document2.odt
7) Close the document and open a new one
8) Go to Options -> LibreOffice Writer -> Basic Fonts (Western) and select the
previous font again
9) Open document1.odt and document2.odt
Expected and actual behavior: The documents look different.

You will see that the font of the text in document1.odt will be your initial
font (e.g. Arial) and the font of the text in document2.odt will be the changed
font (e.g. Times New Roman). The text font of these documents will not change
if the documents will be opened on a different system. This is the behavior
that I expect. Now do following:

1) Open Writer
2) Type some text
3) Save the document as document1.odt
4) Go to Options -> LibreOffice -> Appearance and select a different font color
and document background and (e.g. black on white)
6) Save the document as document2.odt
7) Close the document and open a new one
8) Go to Options -> LibreOffice -> Appearance, select the previous font color
and document background again
9) Open document1.odt and document2.odt
Expected behavior: The documents look different.
Actual behavior: The documents look the same.

Do you agree on the expected behavior?

two embedded OLE objects (bitmap, MS Word graphic);
draw:visible-area-width,height change when saved without editing

1. Open a document (flat XML, .fodt) that contains an embedded OLE object.
2. Without editing anything, save the document again.

Notice how the draw:visible-area-width and draw:visible-area-height attributes
in the frame style changed in the last digit (i.e., by 0.001cm). The change is
not immediately visible, but the error accumulates with each load-save cycle.

The attached file contains two OLE objects, one bitmap and one MS Word drawing.
It was created in MS Word 2000, then converted to a flat XML in LO 3.5.4 on
Windows. In LO, units were set to "Centimeters", and option "Save optimized
files" was switched off to get an XML with line breaks.

John, for sure we work on it. The problem we have that when reverse-engineering
the format, we did never see this kind of structure. We are able to understand
it though, only the parser is assuming something and this file makes the
assumption be broken in pieces :). We are now trying to understand how to
restructure the parser so that it is not too much of an unmaintainable mess but
that handles this kind of situation in a robust way. I can imagine that 3.6
could be the right target, since I will have in July a contiguous week with a
possibility to work on this thing.

when checkboxes have no label the the align left, right or center is applied to
the checkbox 'box' If the checkbox has a label then the alignment is set to the
text and the 'box' is left aligned to the bounding rectangle of the control.

this behaviour when the checkbox has no label makes no sense to me, I would
prefer to see the behaviour as it is when the label is present ( regardless of
whether there is actually a label )

This 'behaviour' makes importing checkboxes from mso difficult ( see attachment

and indeed if you look at the attached pdf you will see that there is a
mistake, there are 2 of the checkboxes with center alignment e.g. there is a
missing left aligned one. I don't think I need to bother to redo the example I
think it is clear that with left align the checkbox would appear to be in the
correct position in calc. I don't think that this is an import issue, I think
this is an issue with checkboxes in vcl. However I suppose if necessary we
could provide some flag or something to change existing behaviour on demand and
not always,

Yup!
Unticked the boxes for headers, cleared *all* of the tick boxes for autocorrect
and it *still* appears.
Additionally, once inserted, the header *cannot* *be* *deleted*!

If you delete the header, within a few seconds it magically reappears.

Going back to version 3.4.5

Thank you very much for your bug report!

Could you please attach a spredsheet file (a .ods or .xls file) containing some
cells with these Turkish characters, which doe not display correctly, to this
bug report? Just take one of your spreadsheet files, maybe delete most of the
real contents (if they are confident or so), and insert some Turkish text
containg the special characters into some cells. Then go to this bug report
page (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51314) and click on "Add an
attachment".

This could be very helpful to reproduce and analyze the problem. Thank you very
much in advance!
