[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51586] Calc UI: Conditional formatting dialog broken in LO 3.6.0 Beta2
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51586 --- Comment #7 from Gerry gerry.trep...@googlemail.com 2012-07-03 00:28:17 PDT --- I describe the problems with the dialog more in detail. In the list, you find design decisions as well as bugs: * The new menu entry Format-Conditional Formatting-Conditional Formatting does not make sense to me. Why Conditional Formatting nested in a sub-menu of Conditional Formatting? * Why does the dialog start empty when everyone wants to define at least one condition when opening this dialog? (screen shot 1) * The German translation for Cancel is not readible (screen shot 1) * The German translation of three buttons in screen shot 2 is not readible. Also, the preview window of the style is too small. * There is no button anymore for New Style, but it is rather buried in the list of styles. This is IMHO counter-intuitive. * Generally the previous dialog (screen shot 4) had much better usability. It was absolutely straight forward, whereas the new dialog is not. * It is not possible to select a cell or cell range as value for the condition. This was possible in the old dialog and it is a MUST. * When going back to the first dialog (where it is possible to add or delete conditions), the layout is broken and it is not possible to read anything (screen shot 3) * What is the rationale behind the decision to have two windows for the conditional formatting dialog? Why to have one window where it is only possible to add or delete conditions and another one where one can define a condition. This is IMHO a step back from the old dialog. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

But there are differences, with one exception they are not _always_ marked as fields: (1) Bullets: only if cursor is positioned in front of bullet (2) Numbering digits: only if cursor is positioned in front of digit (3) Chapter numbers: only if cursor is positioned in front of chapter number (4) Dotted lines in Tables of Contents: only if nonprinting characters are displayed (5) Formatting marks: always marked, hence probably internally treated as fields Especially hence these differences I am still the opinion, that this behaviour should be assessed as a bug and not as a functionality request. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I regard this as a serious issue. Seems you are using Light Proof Grammar Checker extension. IMHO everything on your screenshots is fine - when grammar check is enabled, then those kind of errors are detected. You can ignore it once or ignore the rule. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51547 --- Comment #4 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com 2012-07-03 04:49:29 PDT --- Interestingly, this appears unrelated to the sdext/ code itself - if I import the -3-5 code for the presenter view, and hack the makefiles to build it vs 3.6 I get exactly the same screen corruption / re-drawing issue. ie. some behaviour elsewhere must have changed; it'd be lovely if we could bibisect that out I guess. It appears unrelated to cairo / use-hardware-acceleration etc. It appears re-drawing / invalidation is what breaks things - the clock triggers this for the toolbar initially. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51693] New: : [PATCH] Glyph substitutions of Chinese characters seldom work in Linux without Freetype
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51693 Bug #: 51693 Summary: : [PATCH] Glyph substitutions of Chinese characters seldom work in Linux without Freetype Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.3.0 Beta2 Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Status Whiteboard: BSA Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Libreoffice AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: lubo.rin...@gooddata.com Problem description: On a stock RHEL (6) installation, when OpenOffice.org runs in headless mode (effectively disabling fontconfig), Chinese characters included in Latin texts don't get replaced with UMing family glyphs (which is the Chinese font of choice in RHEL and other Linux distributions). Situation seemed to improve in a later LibreOffice commit that added some UMing substitution, but that was not quite sufficient (did not work in spreadsheet with zh-cn characters) for me. I'm including the patches with changes I've done to make things work for me with some guesswork and attempts to be consistent across Chinese variants. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46092] EDITING: Insertion of Text is not Possible: [a] above Sections, Tables or Indexes at the Top of Text Documents; [b] below Sections or Indexes at the Bottom of Text Docum
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46092 --- Comment #2 from harald-koes...@htp-tel.de 2012-07-03 08:23:40 PDT --- Hi Sasha, during my first trials I did not know the short cut Alt+Enter. So I failed to insert new paragraphs before and after sections, tables and TOCs. As mentioned from you, Alt+Tab works fine at the beginning and the end of sections and tables and also at the end of TOC. But not at the beginning of a TOC. I also did not find another short cut for this purpose. So I think this a bug and should be corrected. In order to avoid such problems I have had, there should be a more intuitional possibility to insert paragraphs before and after sections, tables and indexes, if they are positioned at the beginning and the end of text documents. I wrote a proposal for this issue. See bug 51689. Case [C]: I checked this problem again with Win7 and LO 3.5.3. With cursor at the beginning of the first cell of table and Alt+Enter a paragraph above the table is inserted. So far OK. It seemed to be, that this problem has been fixed meanwhile. But if you press only Enter, also a paragraph is inserted above the table and not inside the first cell of the table. Hint: Enter has no reaction, if the first cell is protected. I also checked deleting text above sections and TOCs at the beginning of a document again. If a section is protected, it is still not possible to delete an empty line above the section. Also an empty line at the beginning of the document and above a TOC, which is protected against manual changes, can not be deleted. In both cases I expect the same behaviour as with tables: If with the cursor is positioned in the empty line, pressing Del will delete this line, even if the section/TOC is protected. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

If so, please consider marking this Bug report as INVALID Feel free to PM if you would like to discuss. Regards, V. Stuart Foote Stuart, Thanks for your detailed instructions, I'm sure this will work; but I can't try it right now -- this is a production system, and I am in the midst of a scheduled project that uses other software requiring Java (and which does not seem to have any problems). It will probably be two weeks until I can get at this. Perhaps some other participant in this thread can get at it earlier? How widespread is this problem anyway? Does anybody know any LibO users who upgraded Java to v7 w/o a hitch? And if anybody knows people who made a first-time LibO installation together with version 7 as a first-time Java installation, I presume there would be no problem at all; it would be good to hear about this too.
