[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48614] Thai characters rendered incorrectly

2012-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48614

--- Comment #6 from panyaz...@gmail.com 2012-07-12 06:02:02 PDT ---
Apologies for my inaccurate Comment 3 and taking so long to come back. I'd like
to correct it as follows.

When testing with Windows XP, all reported problems are solved in LibreOffice
3.5.4 (release) version. But all the problems are reproducible in Windows 7.

Anyway, I still confirm the new problem report in Comment 3, backward tabbing
of mixed Thai-English text strings, are found in new area not reported before,
such as drop-down menu and various pop-up windows. See the second attachment
dated 2012-06-29.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52000] New: UI: Unify info links to localized LibO websites

2012-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52000

 Bug #: 52000
   Summary: UI: Unify info links to localized LibO websites
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.0.beta3
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Localization
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de
CC: tima...@gmail.com

I found that with Server Installation of "LibreOffice 3.6.0.0.beta3 German
UI/Locale [Build-ID: 3e2b862] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit):

Website link in Help/About directly links to , but
click to the "i" in the LibO Start Center leads to
. May be you will have to disconnect from
Internet to see the difference because there is a forward on the Website.

This problem might be limited to WIN, when I tested LibO 3.5.3 under Ubuntu12
with disconnected web I saw some "try to connect to de.libreoffice.org"

Also found the problem for , not tested
systematically for other languages.

This bug has some relation to "Bug 51279 - UI: Help/About Website button link
should lead to localized LibO Website". Different to situation in "Help About
-> Website", the link behind the Start Center "i" has been localized "from the
beginning". May be we can get a common fix for Bug 51279 by fixing this one?

@András:
IMHO those links should use a common source, so that I think that's your part
and not for the translation / localization teams?

Query-wizard in 3 versions of LO: correct only in LO 3.3.4

There is a bug in the wizard of LO. In LO 3.3.4 it works. The table is filtered
by the term you wish. Then I tried this with LO 3.5.5 and LO 3.6.0 Beta 3 -
there was only shown the whole table, no condition for filtering the values.

Hi Michael,
Errm, probably, but I'm still trying to understand how to use the tool in the
first place :-) Apple's Instruments.app is a nice graphical inspection tool,
but it seems that you can only save the information as a bundle which can then
only be read by someone else if they have the same tool. It does all sorts of
wonderful time slice analysis and can even link that to the underlying source
code to get to the calls that appear to be causing the problem. I will have to
try it out with a version of LO from master and my git sources to see if I can
make anything sensible/useful out of it.

> (assuming the symbols are remotely reasonable).
>
> Is it possible that there is some horrible leak / performance problem /
> re-marshalling in the inter-apartment code ?

In a graphical malloc trace, the loading of the database file causes a
significant and constant increase in memory consumption, and this actually
caused both the Instruments.app and LO to to crash in the end as all system
resources were finally consumed.

I will try and post some screen captures to see if the information I see on
screen can bring anyone any further.

This is a compelling idea, and if the PDF export performance is slower just for
such reasons, I will not complain, but be happy instead. But is this the *only*
cause of the performance decrease?

To check this, I tried another sample file, a 286 pp. proceedings volume which
contains no (bitmap) images at all, only some tables and much text in English
and German. (I can't attach the file here for copyright reasons and because it
uses commercial .otf fonts which I can' share, sorry!) The results are (with
identical settings):

* LibreOffice 3.5.5.3:ca. 20 seconds
* Libreoffice 3.6.0.0 beta 3: ca. 40 seconds (!)

IMHO this means that the better image resampling can not be the only source of
the slower performance -- there must have changed something else right in the
export of text.

NOT a valid bug report, all relevant information missing.

@reporter:
Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.
May be hints on will help you to
find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you
believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing
list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is.
- Attach the sample source document
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
  problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
  into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a document related step by step instruction containing every
  key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem
  (similar to example in Bug 43431)
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
  -- what EXACTLY is unexpected
  -- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
  -- concerning your PC
  -- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
  -- concerning your LibO localization (UI language, Locale setting)
  –- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
(video hardware acceleration ...)
  -- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
  -- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Even if you can not provide all demanded information, every little new
information might bring the breakthrough.

Please don't resist so long - it's good to make these visible, even if they are
ill-formed and hard to fix; the video in that bug is amazing :-) clearly we
need to address this. It is possible of course that the bug is in OS/X - but if
so we need to work out which versions of it - and then blacklist a11y only for
those versions (if there is a consistent pattern there it'd be good to build
data for that).

Thanks for raising it :-)

After 3rd patch, no crash, no hang, no regression because of handling "\\<".

Problems:
1. assertion failed when processing dgo.sdf

Please find dgo.sdf here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8912433/dgo.sdf.bz2

2. err file format changed (CR/LF line endings instead of LF) - not a real
issue

3. log file format changed - it tries to gives more information of the errors
now, for example:

This is OK. Maybe it would be enough to print the text field only, other info
is redundant or not important, and we will find position of error easier.
However, many times it does not print the whole sdf line, e.g.:

UserInstallation's
user/extensions/bundled/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend/backenddb.xml
contains information about bundled extensions that still use active component
registration.

When an extension is switched from active to passive component registration, it
is important that its version is bumped. (Otherwise, LO's extension mgr logic
would not detect that it needs to regenerate per-user extension information at
start up, which could lead to old, active-registration data for an extension's
component co-existing with new, passive-registration data, which in turn could
lead to the "duplicate http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=de562138eabd3ee3ecab28e5d1348a3fee7301e0>
"Bump extension versions after changing to passive registration."

If your existing UserInstallation has ever been produced/modified by some
"interim" developer build (instead of an "official" build, where it is known
that none of them can lead to these inconsistencies), it can have become
inconsistent to a point where only manually removing the UserInstallation's
user/extensions/bundled directory can fix this, see

"Weird runtime error." However, this should not happen to ordinary end users
(who only ever installed "official" builds).

Yes, that is probably the best course, and is why I still keep a 3.3.4 version
here on my Mac. However, there have been bugfixes in Base during 3.5
development that relate to bugs in the 3.3.x and 3.4.x development lines. I
suppose it always boils down to what you can/can't live with.

Of course, it'd be fantastic to have a stack-trace with full symbols for this
SEGV:

0   libsvtlo.dylib0x00af5de2
ValueSetAcc::getAccessibleAtPoint(com::sun::star::awt::Point const&) + 146
1   libvcllo.dylib0x01936c31
hitTestRunner(com::sun::star::awt::Point,
com::sun::star::uno::Reference)
+ 257
...

uno::Reference< accessibility::XAccessibleContext > SAL_CALL
ValueSetAcc::getAccessibleContext()
throw (uno::RuntimeException)
{
ThrowIfDisposed();
return this;
}

We don't throw - since we get a SEGV; so ThrowIfDisposed must be accessing
invalid memory at: address 0xfe07 - so not related to a NULL ptr I
suppose.

svtools/source/control/valueimp.hxx shows this inheriting from:

class ValueSetAcc :
public ::comphelper::OBaseMutex,
public ValueSetAccComponentBase

typedef ::cppu::PartialWeakComponentImplHelper6<...

cppuhelper/inc/cppuhelper/compbase_ex.hxx

inc/cppuhelper/interfacecontainer.h:typedef OBroadcastHelperVar<
OMultiTypeInterfaceContainerHelper ,
OMultiTypeInterfaceContainerHelper::keyType > OBroadcastHelper;

It -seems- that the 'r' prefix is misleading, and that this is
a true member of the class; not a reference/pointer that can go
bad; so 'this' must be bad at the ValueSetAcc point.

> what do you mean with "drag a snap line out of the ruler"? If you remove a
> snap
> line out of the ruler, you remove it out of your document

No, if you do that you move an (existing) snap line to/into the ruler - and
delete it. I am doing the opposite: I want to create a snap line.

Maybe the following is clearer.

Variant A:
-
* Right (mouse) click, and choose "Insert Snap Point/Line...". There, create a
vertical snap object at position "-1.00 cm".

Expected: A snap line is created at that position, which is by default 1cm left
of the left page edge (grey background).

Result: No snap line is created.
-

Variant A:
-
* Create a snap line by clicking on the ruler, keeping the mouse pressed and
and dragging a snap line out of the rule. Place it in the gray area left [or
top] of the page (or more precisely: at negative coordinates).

Result: The snap line is properly created, but right (mouse) clicking on it and
choosing "Edit Snap Line..." shows "0.00" as coordinate instead of the
expected, e.g. "-1.24cm".
-

The problem seems to be that the Edit Snap Line and Insert Snap Point/Line
dialogs only handle nonnegative coordinates while in reality negative
coordinates can occur. (Especially if the coordinate origin is moved from the
top left page corner.)

Most database systems have a notion of temporary table that are specific to one
connection / session.

But that is still an ugly *work-around*, I'd prefer we fixed this bug.

The difficulty lies in the fact that a report opened in normal (non-design)
mode is not a report anymore, but a writer document. So indeed, manipulating it
as a report does not work.

How about just letting people edit reports in a read-only file, but just not
let them save the file? That would solve this problem cleanly, and probably
others.

Same result. I assume that LO effectively requires some newer library than the
one installed on the system. (CentOS 5.7 is essentially CentOS/RHEL 5.0 [of
2007] with only few additional features but carefully trying to avoid
incompatibilities.)

Hence, it might be unavoidable and CentOS 5.x is simply too old (and I should
blame our IT staff).

In any case, it would be nice if one could download somewhere the debugging
symbols: It would make it much easier to debug such problems.

For the record, we indeed appear to be safe with regard to all combinations of
having a single extension installed both bundled and per-user (which could
potentially lead to such duplicate implementation name exceptions). On a
recent LO master build (that includes at least mysql-connector-ooo.oxt and
pdfimporter.oxt as bundled extensions):

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52006] New: FILEOPEN: can't open file with two leading slashes

2012-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52006

 Bug #: 52006
   Summary: FILEOPEN: can't open file with two leading slashes
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: muz...@gmail.com

Problem description:

I mount some resources via samba (smbnetfs) and it seems that samba sometime
adds an additional slash.

libreoffice can't open any file that has two leading slashes.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Copy a simple .odt file to /tmp/test.odt
2. execute: libreoffice '/tmp/test.odt'

it should open normally. close it and now try with

3. libreoffice '//tmp/test.odt'

Current behavior: file is not opened

Expected behavior: file is opened

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/13.0.1

This looks like it could be some horrible error in my recent work on the
in-memory DB cache. If one can pinpoint me to the source of the leak, it could
give me a clue.

It could be a few weeks before I can actually run valgrind on LibreOffice; I'm
currently away from my development machine.

FWIW, I've tried running with GDB, it shows similar horrible memory leak;
strace shows it constantly reads from some temporary file in /tmp...

That is the real problem. Files not present in manifest are ignored when an
extension is registered. So, as far as libreoffice is concerned, the
reportbuilder has no configuration files...

The old build system allows to have a skeleton manifest for an extension that
is then filled by a perl script (solenv/bin/makemani.pl) during build (which is
something I overlooked at the time I did the conversion). We either need to
duplicate that functionality in gbuild or fill all the necessary entries in.

http://www.libreoffice.org/xx is redirected to http://xx.libreoffice.org, if
not, ask website maintaners to make the redirection. Why should I fix it in the
code the hard way? About box URL comes from a resource file, Start screen URL
comes from configuration. It would take a lot of time to make these the same
and I don't see the benefit.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47368] Many crashes when accessibility enabled on MacOS X

2012-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47368

--- Comment #32 from Michael Meeks  2012-07-12
10:59:43 PDT ---
The amazing thing is that the hitTestRunner code does:

if ( rxAccessibleComponent.is() ) {
com::sun::star::awt::Point location = rxAccessibleComponent ->
getLocationOnScreen();
com::sun::star::awt::Point hitPoint ( point.X - location.X ,
point.Y - location.Y);
Reference < XAccessible > rxAccessible = rxAccessibleComponent ->
getAccessibleAtPoint ( hitPoint );

And:

awt::Point SAL_CALL ValueSetAcc::getLocationOnScreen()
throw (uno::RuntimeException)
{
ThrowIfDisposed();
const SolarMutexGuard aSolarGuard;
const Point aScreenPos( mpParent->OutputToAbsoluteScreenPixel(
Point() ) );
awt::Point  aRet;

aRet.X = aScreenPos.X();
aRet.Y = aScreenPos.Y();

Which must be called immediately beforehand - and is -much- more complex and
invasive, fails to crash :-) which is where I'd expect problems to occur if
anywhere.

So - continuing on the basis that the stack-trace is busted, and that in fact
it is getLocationOnScreen that crashes de-referencing mpParent - then ...

it is rather unclear to me how, if the ValueSet is destroyed, the ValueSetAcc
get it's mpParent pointer cleaned up. I'd expect to have the dispose method do
that, but ... no sign of that.

I guess, the invalid internal state is protected by all these IsDisposed calls
(fugly but should work).

So - I'm lost; prolly the best way to fix it is to get a valgrind trace of a
build with debugging symbols; that ~requires a self-built build configured with
--enable-symbols I suspect; and of course valgrind on Mac is newish; hopefully
with that we'd get somewhere though.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45355] CRASH if characters in text of BENGALI, TIBETAN, MALAYALAM, MARATHI, NEPALI, ORIYA, TAMIL, TELUGU, KHMER

So... I can't get this to crash. But by fiddling around with the fonts under
Windows I did see some odd behaviour where the glyph replacement worked lovely
or some fonts but not for others. Debugging what I could see its plausible that
 the crash is related to that.

This crash might only happen in glyph replacement where the font in use doesn't
have certain glyphs, and a replacement font is found that does have them, but
the replacement font is taller than the original and gets scaled down to fit
the height of the original font.

We should try to keep a similar structure in all websites for the basic
functions to allow to use common resources for localized Web links in localized
builds to link to those web sites. Currently correction of localized links in
LibO causes lots of work involving lots of lots of people. A common structure
with defined "entries" would ease that a lot.

So we should have (for example, "loc" = variable for Localizations):

and may be several else with forwards to language specific URL names, for
example

for German language with forward to

and so on.

Such a proceeding would ease work of Localization teams very much, see "Bug

Website", "Bug 52000 - UI: Unify info links to localized LibO websites" and

Misunderstanding? My goal is that we have 1 place with 1 URL to "Localized
Website" what will be used for all links from LibO to that Website. If we
currently use different sources that would need very good reasons not to look
amateurish.
Currently I invest lots of time to find and encourage members of translation
teams to invest additional time to change URLs in their translations to fix Bug
51279, although the problem is already "fixed" for the Start Center "i" button.

Please also See Bugs "Bug 52008 - TDF Site: Unify localized web site
structures", "Bug 52008 - TDF Site: Unify localized web site structures"

I agree, this is nothing what needs a quick fix.

OK, so what about taking the About box string from configuration data, too?
Then you don't have to ping all l10n teams, just the webteam.

Congratulation, you've just discovered a bug in v3.7! ;)

A little jerky? It's almost unbearable here. Must be that you have much better

creating that kind of documents that I don't know of.

Is there anything on technical side I can do to help you?
Here are some general informations I can think of:

Imagine following data source as corner case:

Town   | Name

Town1Name2
Town1Name3
Town2Name4
Town2Name5

Town3Name8

I would say, the report, unsortet grouped by Town, should then print:

I have high hopes for the above fix.

But because I can't reproduce the crashes, e.g. of comment #19 I'd like if
someone who can reproduce the crash could e.g. try tomorrow or so if the
windows daily build from tomorrow or later no longer crashes,
(http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/W2008R2@20-With-Symbol-Bytemark-Hosting/master/current/)
and ideally if one if the earlier builds

does crash.

For [i] icon at the start screen to work correctly, libreoffice.org/sh (Serbian
Latin) should be redirected to sr.libreoffice.org, web site localized to
Serbian language.

Without this custom redirection users are taken to the English site even the
localized version does exist.

This should be checked for all localization websites, except we get a quick

I hate to have to re-install MS Word, but if its needed, I can.

I last used MS Office 2000, and its version of Word did a great job of
rendering the images properly.

If you have access to Word, use the "original" image that I attached and import
it into word so that it fills the entire page. If you then compare the LO with
MSO-W results you should see the difference.

Let me know if you need me to install Word on my system and do a screen shot of
the image rendering in both applications.

As for drawing the images, they are drawn, pixel by pixel in MS Paint and
natively saved in the PNG format

Although I understand that this problem here is a disaster for someone working
with Database, this is not a blocker. Compared to Crashes this has much less
severity, and a cost-benefit calculation does not allow to make not available
these
 Bugfixes.

But of course an unusable HSQLDB is serious.

Lionel, I think during work on Bug 51239 you also will check the effects from
here in 3.6, or is there an additional confirmation required?

When you group a table every field with the same value will be hold together.
"Town1" couldn't appear in 2 groups.

Town1 must not be the first, wenn it will be ordered by "Town" - but all "Name"
of "Town1" must be shown in one group. That is, what SQL- GROUP BY means.

There seems to be two problems:

 - One that affects LibO 3.5 (and presumably LibO 3.6), which is a factor MANY
slowness: bug 51239
 - Another one that affects LibO 3.6, which is a factor 2 slowness: this bug

So probably the most "critical" of the two is bug 51239 rather than this one.
Maybe we even won't care about this one once 51239 is corrected ;)

I believe we don't have an SVG background there anymore in 3.6 - is there still
an issue with the about box ? (going to re-introduce this soon though I guess).

LibreOffice logo is still in svg. The symptom is a bit different now, it used
to be a small (2x2 pixel) window, now it has normal width but the height is 0.
Only window title bar is visible.

cells with local date format show the american format, not the german format.
1. create a new calc
2. define the cell as date, for instance in german 11.07.12
3. write a date in that preformatted cell just as 11.07.12 (day, month, year)
4. type enter
5. 12.07.11 appears in the cell, should be: 11.07.12. I think the local format
is not used.
only with beta 3.6.0.0.1 and previous versions, no problems with 3.5.6 rc3.
thank you
