So, in my development tree, *after* bug 51239 is fixed, it takes more than 350
seconds to move to the last row of the table.

reproduction file: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63257

1) Open file in Base, either with 3.5.4 or earlier, or with any tree where bug
51239 is fixed.

2) Click on tables in the left part of the window

3) double-click on Sales Invoices

4) click on go to last record button in the navigation bar on bottom of
window.
Image looks like || (a triangle then a vertical bar)

Hello

Steps to reproduce :

1. Launch LibO
2. Reduce the window if it is maximized. Not to icon, just to resize mode
3. Tools Macros Organize Macros LibreOffice Basic
4. Macro: LibreOffice Macros Library: Basic Module1 Main Edit

Actual and expected results:
a. IDE opens
b. Object catalog opened docked to the left

5. In the Standard toolbar, click Object Catalog to hide it.
6. With the mouse resize the LibreOffice window

Expected Result: window resized, object catalog still hidden

First problem, actual result : window resized but object catalog redisplayed,
empty (pointing to No module).

cf. Screenshot ObjectCatalog1

7. In the Standard toolbar, click Object Catalog to hide it.

Expected Result: catalog hidden
Second problem, actual result : the catalog is not hidden, it redisplays My
Macros LibO Macros and divides screen with the scrollbar in the middle of
the window.

cf. Screenshot ObjectCatalog2

Although I like this presentation docked, the different bugs encountered
(including a reproducible crash) bug 50632 and bug 50633 I would request to
revert this improvement from the 3.6 (defer to 3.7 may be) : showing and hiding
is not consistent with other dockables windows.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52224] New: Help -- About does not show expected dialog box and it blocks further use of the application

2012-07-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52224

 Bug #: 52224
Summary: Help -- About does not show expected dialog box and
it blocks further use of the application
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.5.3 release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: naipaul_o...@hotmail.com

The issue has been reproduced in both Writer and Spreadsheet.

I have confirmed that the other Help -- options that do generate additional
dialog boxes do work. The issue was first found with Writer. I have tested that
I can create new tables in Writer, which does generate a new dialog box.

I am copying the contents of a question raised earlier:-
http://ask.libreoffice.org/question/3953/libreoffice-355-writer-help-about-hangs-the-main/

I have just updated LO to 3.5.5 and I was testing the Writer app.

I wanted to verify the version, so I went Help- About and I did not see the
expected dialog box showing the application information.

Results:- The main write application is then hung and not responding any mouse
actions. I guess that it opended modal dialog box, that is expecting to be
closed prior to the Writer continuing.

I have checked for another window but it does not appear.

I have to kill all LO processes before I can use Writer.

a. I am using Fedora 16 b. I have just downloaded and expanded the archive and
then updated my existing installation using yum:- cd RPMS yum update * cd
desktop-integration yum update *

Upgrade 54 Packages

54 Packages were updated in the main RPMS directory

1 package was updated in the desktop-integration directory:- Updated:
libreoffice3.5-freedesktop-menus.noarch :3.5.5-3
I am not sure what do now ...

Additional information:- I have tested the Help -- YYY, where YYY = License
Information, Credits, License Information and What's This ? and I see
their pop-up windows, but not for the About I have also tested the Help --
About in the Spreadsheet and I get the same issue

Dear all,

I have resolved the issue !!

My machine was configured for dual screens at work, but I did not disconnect
the 2nd screen definition while away from the office - I have retested the
Help-- About and the About dialog box appears on the 2nd screen this morning
which was not visible on the main screen.

Main LibreOffice documents and other dialog boxes appear on main screen, while
the About dialog box appears on the secondary screen.

Sorry about the alarm.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52225] New: Greek symbols have switched back to non-italic

2012-07-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52225

 Bug #: 52225
Summary: Greek symbols have switched back to non-italic
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Formula Editor
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: j...@curioussymbols.com

I have a large document, about six years old, that I continue to work on using
LibreOffice. It is a technical document with many formulae/formulas.

As of LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, I have experienced a problem
with the greek symbols in my equations. Whereas they previously rendered nicely
with a good baseline, font and italic style, they now render in a font
(OpenSymbol) which on my system appears to have messed-up metrics and in
non-italic style. This looks bad, in my eyes, and represents an incompatibility
since previous versions render the same equation in different styles.

Two things are now required:
(1) a method for changing my symbol catalog to use the symbol and typestyle
that I prefer en-masse, for all the greek symbols at once.
(2) permanent changes to restore the correct historical behaviour, to ensure
that old documents render as previously implemented.

If there was a deliberate reason for the change to the math symbol catalog then
this needs to be explained somewhere, and a script or somesuch needs to be
provide to change all old formula eg from %alpha to %ialpha or whatever the
'new standard' is going to be.

I note that in all high-quality textbooks, the default for greek symbols in
math formulae is italics, and also this is the default in Latex rendering. The
non-italic style is very non-standard.

An example of the wrong metrics in the default math symbol catalog can be seen
(at least on my system) in the formula 1 over %alpha + 1 over a -- the alpha
and the 'a' are not aligned on a common baseline.

1- started docx document in Office 2010 on Windows 7, added text, a few
pictures, and table of contents.
2- opened docx in LO 3.5.4 on Mac Lion. Made various edits and added about 13
jpeg photos using Insert Picture From File in various places in the
document. I did crop one of the images in LO and edited a few with Edit with
External Tool (Mac Preview rotation) and all seemed okay from those.
3- re-Saved the file as docx and dropboxed it
4- re-opened the docx file at work today and got the following results.

Probably all recent comments on this bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/157249 are also

Although I like this presentation docked, the different bugs encountered
(including a reproducible crash) bug 50632 and bug 50633 I would request to
revert this improvement from the 3.6 (defer to 3.7 may be) : showing and
 hiding
is not consistent with other dockables windows.

Point zero releases always contain known bugs, they are for the ethusiasts who
can't wait to try new features. Hopefully the bugs you mentioned above will be
fixed in one of the 3.6.x releases. I CC-ed a student, Janos Uray, who will
have a look at them in the coming weeks.

[Quotation from https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33393#c56
continued: Results after step 4:]

* MS Office 2010 will not open it now and says it has an error.

* Libreoffice 3.5.4 on Windows 7 will open it, but there are read-error notices
where the pictures should be.

* I also notice that the file is 4MB, which would be small considering that
many
pictures. They would have been a few MB each.

* Also, the few images that were added originally in step 1 are still present
and
okay. All other images are missing with read-error.

@okko7:
Thank you very much for moving the discussion to a new bug report! I will see
if I can reproduce (and therefore confirm) this new report ...

(Changed 'Component' to 'LibreOffice', because not only Writer is affected, but
also Calc, and maybe Impress).

sorry markus, but your answer does not show that you are a customer focussed
mind; why making a function worse than what it was? Just because it is easier
to handle for programmers?

This function is VITAL, the whole revamp of the conditional formatting in LO

rethink your opinion and keep this bug open.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52234] New: EDITING no shadow while dragging an object

2012-07-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52234

 Bug #: 52234
Summary: EDITING no shadow while dragging an object
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.5.3 release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Drawing
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: sunmoo...@gazeta.pl

Suppose you have a rectangle. You want to move it. You place mouse cursor over
the rectangle and left click it. Wait a moment. The cursor changes and you move
the mouse. You do not see object shadow moving. This is the bug. You release
mouse button and the rectangle is in the new position. But you were not able to
position the rectangle because the object shadow was invisible while dragging.

But: move the mouse over the rectangle and left click mouse while moving. Guess
what? The object shadow is visible and you can position the object. So this is
a difference.

The effect is even more visible while option Snap Lines when Moving is
selected. You can see snap lines vanishing after a part of the second after you
left click your mouse while the mouse is not moving. When you start with moving
mouse you can see snap lines moving together with the object shadow as it
should always be.

The effect is most annoying while trying to move lines. Most times you end up
with a line moving without shadow. Therefore I assume fixing this bug is kind
of important issue.

2012-07-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52226

--- Comment #5 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-18 15:35:59 PDT ---
Also REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.0.1 (Build ID: 73f9fb6), German langpack
installed, again on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel).

Creating and editing an .docx file following the steps cited in comment #3
gives me exactly the same results as said in comment #3.

However, at least for now I can't reproduce the bug with Impress, so AFAIK
Writer (.docx) and Calc (.xlsc) files are affected. (But maybe someone else can
manage to reproduce this with Impress, to, so keep on testing ;-)

(In reply to comment #4)
Sorry, I'm not sure which program created this.
No problem -- I just asked because there was a chance that you knew it. ;-) So
let's assume that the file was probably created with Microsoft Office.

One thing that may be of interest is that I changed the font of the title, and
it seemed to remove the boxes (spacing issues in the boxes were still there).
 I
thought it might be a font replacement issue,
This is possible; I can't tell.

*

I wondered how this document is _supposed_ to look, and therefore borrowed a
Win 7 machine with MS Office 2010. I attach the screenshot of page 1-2 (the
image was created from two screenshots, therefore don't care for the strange
look of the vertical scrollbar ;-).

IMHO the page layout is strange even in MS Office (see the table reaching from
page 1 to 2 and therefore split in the middle of a row!). Maybe I have damaged
the formatting of the 1st title line by accident, but this does not explain the
layout problems. Whoever created this document obviously did not care for
resizing/reflowing text issues (a form used to apply for seminars which cost
$500 for 4 days could look a bit more professional ;-).

But this is not our problem. What I want to say is that we should concentrate
on fixing the black boxes problem and on the inexplicable extra page break
before the
www.hknc.org ntth...@hknc.org
line; the overall spacing and page layout is IMHO a minor problem, because the
page layout is not correct even in MS Office.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52238] New: : Document templates get formated differently depending on user interface language setting

2012-07-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52238

 Bug #: 52238
Summary: : Document templates get formated differently
depending on user interface language setting
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.5.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: x_...@gmx.net

Created attachment 64355
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=64355
example template showing the bug.

Problem description:
Due to this bug, it is possible to create a template which looks completely
different depending on which user interface language is set. This is highly
problematic as you have no guarantee that a template will look the same on all
office installations.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Change interface language to German and restart office.
2. Create a new document, add some text.
3. Add a new user defined style called Default. Change its font to Verdana.
Note that this don't change anything in your document as in german the default
style is called Standard.
4. Save the document as .ott.
5. Change interface language to English and restart office.
6. Open the .ott file. Your document default style now has Verdana set as
font.

Current behavior:
Predefined styles are named differently depending on user interface language.
Opening a template with a different user interface language set than it was
created opens the possibility that there are name conflicts between user
defined styles and predefined styles. This leads to different styles being used
depending on which language is set.

Expected behavior:
It should not be possible to define user defined styles which conflict with
predefined style names.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/13.0.1

comment #4 seems to be a completely different issue.

As for the original point, I've confirmed this in Bodhi Linux using LO 3.5.3.2.
Escape will exit the find dialog but cntrl + f will not, leaving the user to
either stretch their fingers to escape or use their mouse as the user as
pointed out.

This is of course if I'm understanding the issue correct, if not please correct
me so I can test it

A cell outside of an area is trying to be copied taking neighbor cells like
reference

I have found troubles selecting an area with keyboard. It is not a problem when
you are within an area. The trouble is when you begin in a cell outside any
area and try to select a neighbor area using shift+ctrl+arrow to go to the end
of the block.

Expected behaviour:
using shift+ctrl+arrow should have to stop at last filled cell

Current behaviour
using shift+ctrl+arrow it stops at the end of the spreadsheet, either x or y
axis.

Path to reproduce

In the picture shown a cell trying to be copied cells under, by example, taking
like reference a neighbor column.

Go to cell, Ctrl+C to copy. To extend this copy Shift+left arrow goes one cell
left, then to go and select untill to last cell in this column shift+ctrl+down
arrow.

It should have to stop at last filled cell, but it goes untill the end of
spreadsheet.

When you are within any area and press shift+ctrl+down arrow it stops at the
end of the column, (last filled cell)

I have tried myself if I can reproduce the problem on Windows. And indeed, both
test A and B give me the same results as on MacOS X (tested with LibreOffice
3.6.0.1, Build-ID: 73f9fb6, German UI, on Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600,
Service Pack 3).

Only test C fails on WinXP -- but not because LibreOffice would not insert
useless text:span ../text:span tags whenever I insert or append any
text (this is true on Windows just like on MacOS X), but only because text is
obviously rendered differently on Windows, so that kerning works even over a
text:span or /text:span tag. To state it clearly: on MacOS X, 'A' and 'T'
in
  Atext:span ...T
and
  A/text:spanT
don't get kerned, but on Windows, they get kerned (given the fact that the
current font actually contains a kerning pair for 'A' + 'T', of course, and
that Pair kerning is enabled in LibreOffice for that text). I wonder how
kerning is handled in this situation on Linux ...

According to these results, I change the Platform picker from 'MacOS X' to
'All'. However, I know that I can not (and do not want to) confirm my bug
report myself, so we still need someone else who can confirm my results ;-) And
then we need someone who fixes this bug soon ...

bending line example

Attached file is simply a two rectangulars connected this manually
stretched-out connection line.

1) make sure file is editable, open file, move any rectangular a bit, bending
connector retains its stretched-out to right oval shape, which is correct,
don't click 'save' button
2) click 'close' Draw application, a dialog appears asking for saving file,
click 'yes'
3) open file again, start dragging rectangular again, bendging connector loses
its stretched-out shape, which is not correct.

So the behaviour in Draw is inconsistent.
* In case user first saves file and then closes the Draw application further
openingediting file is okay.
* In case user closes application and chooses to save file further editing file
is not okay, i.e moving objects causes connection lines drop its shape, which
is very annoying (moving one object causes all lines to change their shapes to
default bending form)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52246] New: Translations errors should not break the build

OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Currently after each pull from Pootle I run a few checks on translations, and I
have to correct fatal errors (build-breakers). See my checking scripts at
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~timar/l10n-scripts/

You can see how fatal errors are found by gsicheck. The task is to use
gsicheck's functionality build-time (see especially tagtest.cxx). When strings
are merged from translations to translated source files, they should be
checked, and if they contain fatal error, then English strings should be copied
instead of the build-breaker translations. A warning message should be printed
to stderr.

This way I don't have to correct translation bugs, I can send the error log to
translators and let them correct the bugs. Strings with errors will not be
integrated, that's the only penalty. Way better that correct errors manually or
leave out a whole language from the update, because of 3-4 broken strings.

The WMF image in question

To reproduce:
(1) open lodraw
(2) create a rectangle or other shape
(3) open the area dialog for the rectangle and go to the bitmaps tab
(4) import the attached wmf image and set it as the area for the rectangle

The shape will be rendered as white on black, which is erroneous. It should
instead have black text on a white background.

The image also opens incorrectly in Gimp and LibreOffice current git master on
Linux. It opens correctly in MS Paint, LibreOffice 3.5.5.3 on Windows, and when
added normally as an image (that is, not as the area of a shape) in LibreOffice
current git master on Linux.

Test file

This bug can be easily reproduced:

Type:
«[nbsp]Salut[nbsp]![nbsp]»

[nbsp] = non-breakable space

Set the font to Linux Libertine G or Linux Biolinum G.
The punctuation between the two non-breakable spaces will disappear.

It works properly with the font Linux Libertine and Linux Biolinum. I
assume this is a bug with the Graphite renderer.

This concerns only 4 characters: : ; ! and ?

Unfortunately, we often have to write some of these punctuations between two
non-breakable spaces.

Reproduced with LO 3.5.5 and 3.6.
Confirmed on the French mailing-list.

Full Screen Mode is not Full Screen

Entering full screen mode in LibreOffice Writer leaves two toolbars open. They
are neither necessary nor helpful. Even the button to exit full screen mode
should be scrapped, since the Esc key already provides a simple and intuitive
way to do this.

The UI in full screen mode should be as clean and spare as possible. That's why
people use full screen mode in the first place.

Small UI annoyances such as this, I believe, are a significant reason most
people stick with Microsoft Office rather than switch to an opensource
alternative.

This WMF is actually wrapper for bitmap in DibStretchBlt record.
Bitmap is 1 BPP file, which could be important, because similar WMF with 8BPP
image seems to work fine.
I've tried to insert 1bpp bitmap as an image and use it to fill area. In both
cases LO was able to render it properly.
Therefore only 1BPP wrapped into WMF added as a shape fill makes the problem.
