[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.5.5.3. German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
7122e39-92ed229-498d286-15e43b4-d70da21] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
and attached sample document. Saving it as .rtf still shows wubscript and
superscript, but without reduced font size.

Still [Reproducible] with parallel installation of Master "LOdev "
3.7.0.0.alpha0+ - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: 25608fb]"
(tinderbox: 2008R2@20, pull time 2012-07-14 00:31:17)

This sounds very similar to "Bug 36538 - FILESAVE: RTF does not apply subscript
font size reduction".
Was ok for me with "LibreOffice 3.5.1.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
dc9775d-05ecbee-0851ad3-1586698-727bf66] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit),
so it seems that the bug reappeared

@Miklós:
Can you please check?

You can post a review request to the mailing list. IIRC there are still nearly
2 weeks till 3.5.6 rc1, so there is enough time.

OTOH, the mentioned patch just avoids a segfault on importing broken RTF file,
so it should not be applicable for OpenXML import. It probably just hides the
problem.

As far as I can remember, it was created from scratch with LibO (well,
actually, it would have been created originally with OpenOffice, before LibO
came out).

If the document is damaged, is there a way to check for that? (I guess I'm
thinking of something equivalent to checkdisk or fsck)

@reporter:
Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.
May be hints on will help you to
find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you
believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing
list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a sample document (not only screenshot) or refer to an existing
sample document in an other Bug with a link; to attach a file to this
bug report, just click on "Add an attachment" right on this page.
  Document should contain 4 columns: reporter's Input - reporter's result -
  Test here - Comment
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a document related step by step instruction containing every
key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem
(similar to example in Bug 43431)
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
-- what EXACTLY is unexpected (not simply "unexpected results")
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
-- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)

We sill have to treat different cases in different bugs, this one will stay as
Task Bug.

For everything we do ISO should be considered (bug not be followed slavish):

@Johannes Weberhofer:
I agree with some of your arguments, with some I do not.

* Compatibility  (objected)
May be some power coach drivers will want a horsewhip instead of an accelerator
pedal in their cars, but of course, it is improbable that any car manufacturer
will fulfill that request

* Usability   (agreed)
Yes, of course. I have been used to input dates many only by numerical keyboard
(and I it's horrible that I did not find a way to input a particular day of the
month without moth input from numerical keyboard).
In a cell with date formatting any valid date input for the current
localization has to be accepted and to be transformed to date view in
accordance to
But: There is no need to accept invalid inputs. This only destroys unambiguity
of inputs.
I submitted "Bug 52288 - [DE] EDITING: Allow truncated date inputs from numeric
keyboard" for this particular problem, may be additional bugs for additional
localizations should be submitted.

More comments following soon.

Following from German View, but with common importance:
Everything only for date formatted cells
All examples July 2012, German Localization, Cells in German Language
All Tests with Server Installation of "LibreOffice 3.6.0.2 rc German
UI/Locale [Build-ID: 815c576] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

Until 3.5 an input MM-DD (12-31) has been accepted for 2012-December-30, has
been recognized and converted to selected formatting of cell.
In 3.6.0. This input no longer will be accepted, and that makes Calc unusable
for users who often have to do date inputs (trading, ...) in countries where
the numeric keyboard has a comma, not a dot.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52287] New: Two Drag Modes in the Navigator don't work ("Insert as link" and "Insert as copy")

2012-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice

Out of the three Drag Modes available in the Navigator, only the "Insert as
Hyperlink" mode works.

The other two modes ("Insert as link" and "Insert as copy") don't work at all
with headings and bookmarks.

* In the "Insert as a link" mode, nothing happens at all when I drag-n-drop
headings or bookmarks.

* In the "insert as copy" mode, when I drag-n-drop headings or bookmarks, the
text around the drop-spot moves aside and a large blank space is created. But I
cannot see a copy of the heading or bookmark at that spot.

BTW it is not clear what is the difference between a "link" and a "hyperlink".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52286] New: FILESAVE: Saving as an rtf file ruins superscript formatting

2012-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 52286

formatting
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: giulio.genov...@gmail.com

Problem description:
When saving a document with superscript as an rtf file, the formatting of the
superscripts changes, and reopening the file presents a file different from the
original one.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new file, write some text, select some of it, and superscript it
with Ctrl+Shift+P
2. Save the document as an rtf file
3. Exit and reopen the file

Current behavior:
superscript formatting changes. In the rtf, the \super keyword changes to the
\up## keyword (# stand for numbers 0-9). This yields a different formatting.
(changing the \up## back to \super with a text editor fixes the formatting).
The same happens with subscripts (\sub becomes \dn##)

Expected behavior:
The formatting of superscripts should not change when saving as an rtf file

Problem description:
Running most (but not all) wizards kills all LO windows, without any error
message - just a brief pause of maybe 1-3 seconds, then all LO windows
disappear, as if the process had been killed in Task Manager.

Writer : File -> wizards - brief pause, then crashes / closes
Letter
Fax

Writer : File -> wizards - slightly delayed crash:
Agenda - briefly displays some sort of document, sized so the whole page is
visible, seems to be just about finished rendering the window with that
document then as with other wizards it crashes / closes.
Web page - opens new window, shows toolbars / status bar, but no document -
then crashes / closes.

Writer : File -> wizards - seems to work properly:
Presentation
Document Converter, Euro Converter, Address Data Source: didn't follow them all
the way through, but they seemed ok, & they didn't kill LO.

Calc - function wizard: seems ok

Base wizards:
Tables -> Use Wizard To Create Table - brief pause, then crashes / closes.
Queries -> Use Wizard To Create Query - brief pause, then crashes / closes.
Forms -> Use Wizard To Create Form - opens new window, shows toolbars & some
other stuff [gone too quick to properly see what], then crashes / closes.
Reports -> Use Wizard To Create Report: opens new window, shows toolbars /
status bar, & what looks like a blank document - then crashes / closes.

Current behavior: as described above

Expected behavior: wizards doing what they're supposed to & not killing all
open LO windows.

Platform: WinXP (64 bit) SP2. Tried JRE 1.6.0_22, & 1.7.0_02 - doesn't make any
difference. This is the first time I've tried running any of the non-Base
wizards, but the Base wizards have NEVER worked for me - not in LO, not even
with OOo before the LO / OOo split.

Rainer's sample doc works but mine doesn't. The difference is that Rainer's
doc specifies a small print range:

   $A$2:$AMJ$10

whereas mine was created by selecting entire columns and then de-selecting the
title row, with the result that all possible rows except for the first are
included in the range:

   $A$2:$D$1048200

The hang does not occur if the range is

   $A$1:$D$1048200

Yes, it actually crashed. I was able to fix it by tweaking the Java
installation as described in

that Oracle's Java installer does not do this by itself - user intervention is

Also, Bug 36149 no longer occurs for me.

2012-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52240

--- Comment #5 from Johannes Weberhofer 2012-07-19
19:53:24 PDT ---
There are three reasons, why entering "day-month" and "day-month-year" variants
of dates should be possible:

* Compatibility:
This behaviour worked as I described with MS-Ecxel 4+, MS-Access 95+,
Staroffice, Openoffice and Libreoffice. So power-users expect that behaviour.

* Usability:
there is no "." awaylable at the numerical keyboard. So whenever you have to
enter dates, you must use the "." from the textual keyboards - this is _very_
time-consuming.

* Speed:
A typical buisiness-spreadsheet-user who does e.g. some accounting, is using
dates within the same year (older/newer dates are the exceptions). So speeds up
input, when you can enter DAY-MONTH and the processor converts it into a date
within the same year using the default locale's date-format.

I have never tried with other locales, but I would expect the following
behaviour:

A) User enters NUM-NUM: Input processor tries to match the locale's default
date format without years. When ok, the current year should be added and the
cell should be filled with a date having the standard date format.

B) User enters NUM-NUM-NUM: Input processor tries to match the locale's default
date format. When ok, the cell should be filled with a date having the standard
date format.

I do not know, if it was possible to enter "DD-MM HH:MM" before. I do currently
not have access to an older version.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49554] Misleading error message about primary key on first page of table import wizard

I think, customizing the properties of existing fields should be provided
exclusively on the 3rd wizard page. Have in mind, that sometimes more than 1
column is to be used for primary key, and most likely VARCHAR is preset for
existing fields, which should not fit for primary key in most cases.

So I would suggest for the 1st page:

[ ] Create additional primary key column
Name [] (existing columns can be customized on 3rd wizard page)

> Hiding the
> creating of a primary key for existing fields in the third page in a

+1
See alternative from attachment 64014 at bug 51903.

> For example, "Enter a unique name for the new primary key data field. The

+1, but add (existing columns can be set as primary key on 3rd wizard page)

Results of a first quick test:
Currently I can't see anything what I would really call a bug. But the
interpreter is very picky: for formatting '"-MM-DD" an input "MM-DD" will
not be accepted. That might be correct, I am not sure whether "MM-DD" is a date
confirming to German standards (I used German loc. for that test).

Exactly following the selected date formatting with the input will be accepted
as a date.

We will have to distinguish:
a) does the date recognition work correct? My quick test seems to say "yes",
I did not find a real "bug"
b) is that already optimum useful? I do not thing so. A cell formatted
"YY-MM-DD"
should accept an input "12-31" and complete it to date "12-12-31"

@Eike:
Is there already a test proceeding for such us-advise fine tuning? If not, we
will have to create sample documents (for all localizations) with examples
where practical work might need exceptions from total correctness in favor of
usability?

the problem still exists.
as a result you cannot work with dates and calc in a country that sets
day-month-year (as in germany). Inputs became in best case year-month-date.
i think this is a serious bug that can change user inputs unexpectedly.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52276] New: .odt or .fodt file causes Windows Explorer (Windows 7) to crash and restart

2012-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52276

 Bug #: 52276
Summary: .odt or .fodt file causes Windows Explorer (Windows 7)
to crash and restart
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.1 rc
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: b...@eikota.de

It is very likely that the following is either not reproducible or NOTOURBUG.
Nevertheless I have to report it, because there is at least a minimal chance
that this is a bug in LibreOffice; and if it is our bug, it is an important
one. So I report it, and ask our Windows expert (I'm no one) to investigate if
this is really a LibreOffice issue or not reproducible or just NOTOURBUG. Thank
you!

I just installed LibreOffice 3.6.0.1 (= RC 1) on a laptop with Windows 7
Professional which I borrowed from a friend. There was no LibreOffice (or OOo
or AOO) installed on this machine before, but MS Office Professional 2010.
Installation of LibO and of the German helppack worked fine. Then I started
LibreOffice, changed only the most important application settings (options),
and created a new Writer file with a single line of text in the default style.
I saved this file first in .odt format and then in .fodt format, both on the
desktop, named "Test.odt" and "Test.fodt".

After quitting LibreOffice (which made Windows Explorer come to the front) the
horror started: Windows Explorer was quit and restarted again and again, every
time showing only the same generic alert ("Windows Explorer has encountered an
error and must restart" or so). Even restarting the complete machine did not
have any effect: as soon as the desktop became visible, the Explorer restart
loop began again.

When I logged in as admin, the Explorer worked again (because the files where
not visible on the admin desktop); but as soon as I navigated with Explorer to
the main user's "Desktop" folder, opened it and clicked once (!) on one of the
files (I forgot on which one first, sorry!) to select it, Windows Explorer
crashed again with the same message.

This indicates that the problem must have involved one (or both?) of my
"Test.odt" and "Test.fodt" files. This is affirmed by the following: after
deleting both files from the desktop via a complicated "telepathic" action, the
problem went away for good. Which one of the two files was the reason I can not
tell. I can just say that for the .odt file the Win Explorer showed the correct
(LibreOffice .odt) icon, and for the .fodt the Explorer showed a preview, which
was correct, too (a blank page with a single line of text).

Now I know that this looks like NOTOURBUG -- I would think that one or both of
the files exhibited a bug somewhere deep in Windows Explorer. But I don't know
enough about Windows to judge this issue. Are there any file viewer extensions
or so which LibreOffice installs on Windows? Then the bug could be somewhere in
that extensions. Or is it possible that this is a conflict about registered
file types (as said above, MS Office Professional 2010 is installed on the
machine)?

I'm sorry that I can't do any additional testing, because this was not *my*
machine and I can't do critical things on it :-( So I ask our Windows experts
to investigate this. However, do NOT save any test files on the desktop,
because this will (if you can reproduce the issue) cause the same horrific and
endless Explorer restart loop; save the files into a folder/directory
somewhere, and delete them (if necessary) by terminal commands ("cd ..." to the
directory in question, then "dir", then "del ...").

@Roman Eisele:
Hi, me too. If I would know the fix I would have asked for a cherrypick for
3.6, but without this knowledge it might cost a lot of time, also for a
developer. My current rating for this Bug is that the fix can wait until 3.7.0,
be cause currently only 1 user with 1 document is known who has this problem.
If we get DUPs or you or Andika Triwidada have indications that this one's
importance is major because the problem affects an often used feature, we
should involve Rodo or Thorsten.

But of course my rating is a private opinion, if you see more importance please
feel free to involve a developer (and may be do an additional attempt to find a
similar Bug or even a commit for what the fix brought the breakthrough). Would
be great to have bibisecting for Master 3.7 ... .

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38913] CRASH when loading Danish dictionary at startup citing msvcr90.dll after upgrade

2012-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38913

--- Comment #39 from bugzi...@epperleinu.de 2012-07-19 17:13:21 PDT ---
I also experienced problems after installing a new version of LibreOffice
(3.5.5.3). Starting the program after installation did not succeed, last
message shown was related to the danish dictionary.

I could fix the problem by running setup again, removing all dictionaries I
dont not use regularly.

In this discussion thread dependence on Java is mentioned, and indeed, I
recently installed Java 7 and removed Java 6 from my computer. This did not
seem to affect the version of LibreOffice yet installed, but it may have lead
to the crash during first start of the newly installed version.

> I hope you can confirm WFM with Master?

Yep; LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 042686d, Date: 2012-07-19_10.04.11) opens
and displays the sample file without any problems -- this is to say, both
columns are visible and editable (as far as a quick test can show). So this
issue is really fixed on master branch, wonderful!

@Rainer:
I'm a bit hesitant about marking this one as WFM, given the fact that the 3.7
release is still more than 6 months away from now; what means that, for normal
users, it will *not* work for another 6 months ... But if this is the usual way
to proceed, I will not object. Maybe we could ask the developers to backport
(if possible) the fix to, let's say, 3.6.1 or 3.6.2? (The difficulty is,
however, to find out which commit(s) fixed this!)

apple crash trace of connector induced crash

Just tested on master build from today 16:23pm. This is a debug enabled build
(in theory).

Clean install of the LO-dev application.

Mac OSX Lion 7.4

How to reproduce :
I have a preconfigured ODB file that connects to a locally hosted mysql
database server. This connection has served me well thus far with previous
versions of LO and the native mysql connector extension for Mac.

When I open the file in LO master, I get the main ODB window. Then I click on
Tables and the connection dialogue appears.

I enter my name and password, and press enter.

Crash.

Reproducible every time. Enclosed apple crash trace.

I will look at this and try to confirm.

However, I can already state that with a build from master of today I can open
an existing configured ODB file that uses the mysql native connector (which I
built myself). LO dev then crashes and dies, but I'll check other reports for
that.

Additional notice.

Current problem can be partially solved with SHIFT+ENTER (creating new lines
without creating new paragraphs). So we have then one big paragraph.

But the problem is that in this case it's not possible to make the paragraphs
not to split.

Because of that we would need "anchor to multiple paragraphs". See Bug 52274
for wish that pictures don't split paragraphs too.

Problem description:

Option "Do not split paragraph" shifts the entire paragraph to the next page or
column after a break is inserted.

In case the picture is anchored to this paragraph it's possible that picture
splits the paragraph.

There should be additional option for paragraph style which says: Don't split
paragraphs in case of pictures.

If ODT doesn't support this option for paragraphs it can be inserted as
Compatibility option for the document. Then "Do not split paragraph" option has
effect in case of pictures.

See https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/11098

The django developer says "This looks like uno is installing some sort of an
import hook that's written incorrectly to the point that it causes Django to
fail. It's impossible for Django to handle all this sort of monkeypatching, so
this is a bug that'll need to be fixed with uno."

Is this really a bug in pyuno? I'm afraid I don't understand exception handling
well enough to determine this.

It's annoying at least in django developement (and presumably elsewhere)
because pyuno eats up the exceptions sometimes making it hard to debug. Some
applications such as South break due to this. Here is a sample of how it can
break

try:
__import__(app_name + '.management', {}, {}, [''])
except ImportError, exc:
msg = exc.args[0]
if not msg.startswith('No module named') or 'management' not in msg:
raise

Perhaps the msg.startswith is a bit of a hack...but it demonstrates how
annoying this is. I would except the django related exception here, but instead
we pyuno stuff that just shouldn't be here.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52268] New: Windows Splash Screen: Messages on first start displayed in wrong colour in the wrong place

2012-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52268

 Bug #: 52268
Summary: Windows Splash Screen: Messages on first start
displayed in wrong colour in the wrong place
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.2 rc
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: heinzless...@gmail.com

Created attachment 64398
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=64398
Mockup of how it should look.

On the first start of LibreOffice on Windows, we display a number of messages.
However, they are displayed in the wrong place and in the wrong colour (black -
not very visible).

Expected: Messages should be displayed above the progress bar, in white (mockup
attached).

The code for this is ~here:
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/desktop/source/splash/splash.cxx#611

Thank you for your feedback. To have a "clean"* base, you can use a brand new
LO profile.

*I still don't know why your addon is still there whereas I recreated from
scratch the LO profile. So I don't know if and which extra cleansing action it
would need.

.DOC file for style paintbrush test

Apologies for the delay,

Step 1: click somewhere in the word "Modification" in the second line, first
row of the table.

Step 2: click on the format paintbrush

Step 3: select a part of the "Diagnostic de la situation"n text, for example:
"de la" to apply the style.

The style applies properly to the selected part, but the part that was left out
changes style also!

Since the other bug mentioned JRE7, I'd like to clarify that I have installed
JRE6 precisely because earlier versions of LO were not working with JRE7.

As a result, my PC has both JRE6 and JRE7.

That said, since my LO is not even starting, I cannot use the program options
to select a particular JRE version.

Thanks.

Ok, I just found out how to "heal" a .doc document that is affected by this:

Redo the pagebreaks which occur between those pages with different pagestyles:

Either edit the pagebreak (Mouse over the actual dotted line showing the
pagebreak, click on it, click on the black triangle opening the drop down menu,
chose "Edit Page Break") or delete them and re-insert them from the
"Insert->Manual break" with the proper pagestyle for the subsequent pages...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48549] System::Beep() removal

--- Comment #4 from Thomas Arnhold 2012-07-19 13:11:49 PDT

Hi Meko,

nice work! Looks good to me. Here are some unused parameters:

vcl/source/window/menu.cxx: The definition of nKeyCode is now unused (above
your removal). So this else branch could go.

basctl/source/basicide/baside2.cxx: sal_Bool bRemoved =
pLayout->GetWatchWindow().RemoveSelectedWatch();

only call for pLayout->GetWatchWindow().RemoveSelectedWatch(); without saving
it, as bRemoved would be unused.

A question comes in mind: At some points the beep should say "here's an error".
I've seen at least two points, where a debug message with OSL_FAIL() followed
(sc/source/core/data/documen4.cxx). I think we should convert the beeps to
debug messages at such points. Meko, what do you think? Maybe a post to the
mailing list would be a good idea.

Thomas

I have seen similar with LO 3.5.5

Generate a .doc with MS Word containing several pages. Do the following in
still in MS Word:

Change pagestyle of first page to "First Page" or equivalent "Title Page".

Leave the pagestyle of the other subsequent pages to be "Standard".

Add page header and footer to the "Standard" pages.

Save .doc.

Then open the .doc in LO, change some text and save the .doc.

Then it should loose the header/footer of the "Standard" pagestyle pages.

If header/footer are present on first page, they are preserved. The effect of
loosing header/footer is only happening on the pages with pagestyle Standard.

there are some known general problems with using Oracle JRE 7,
some of which are resolved in LO 3.5.4; there is also bug 50584,
which is really a defect in the JRE and can be worked around
by installing a MSVC2010 redistributable.

if you have a general problem with using any Java functionality,
(e.g. File->Wizards->Letter... produces an error mesage)
then you can probably work around it by installing this:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328

i've also found this bug report, which isn't very detailed,
but indicates that something accessibility related will be
fixed in Oracle JRE 7u6:

@Joel Madero:
What current behaviour would you like the document to display? There is no
current behaviour, that is the crux of this bug. I have provided clear
reproduction instructions to illustrate the missing feature. Shall I create and
attach a document in which all the steps have been completed up to the step in
which the needed feature is unavailable?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48549] System::Beep() removal

--- Comment #3 from Meko Otar 2012-07-19 11:34:44 PDT ---
I've written a patch that remove all call to Sound::Beep. There is still some
warnings about unused parameters but I didn't wanted to change function
prototypes.

I'm new to LibreOffice codebase so please give me some feedback.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52263] Replace custom "hourglass" pointer/cursor by the operating system's default wait pointer everywhere

I forgot to mention that LibreOffice already uses the system's default wait
pointer in many situations (at least on MacOS X); it is a question of
consistency to improve the remaining situations in which we still use the old
custom "hourglass" pointer, in order to remove the latter everywhere.

Maybe this is an easy hack? I can't judge this.
