[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53086] New: FILEOPEN existing 3.5 document with too big row height

2012-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53086

 Bug #: 53086
Summary: FILEOPEN existing 3.5 document with too big row height
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 rc
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

Created attachment 65076
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65076
Sample Document

Although fix for "Bug 52393 - FILEOPEN 3.5.x spreadsheet with wrong row height"
works fine we still have a row height issue. Steps how to reproduce with
Server Installation of "LibreOffice 3.6.0.4 rc German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
932b512] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit):

0. download attached 355.ods, create a copy
1. Open 355.ods with LibO 3.5 and the copy with a.m. version
Expected: row heights 3,4,5 equal in both versions
Actual: bigger heights in 3.6, details see below!

Comparing Results for rows 3-5, all in mm
row LibO3.6 LibO3.5
3 7,07 6,86
4 6,23 6,00
5 5,38 4,80

Good News: no dataloss, when I save the document from 3.6 it will be opened in
3.5.6 with correct row height.

No idea whether it's a bug in 3.6 or 3.5, but it's a real pain if you use Calc
for label printouts or similar (as attachment)

Which database do you use? The internal DB? This DB is cached. So it could be,
that every changes of a table in SQL were not shown in the GUI.
If you change the tables in the internal HSQLDB you could use the command
"CHECKPOINT" in SQL to see the changes.
CHECKPOINT closes the database files, rewrites the script file, deletes the log
file and opens the database. (Description HSQLDB-Guide)
If this also works for you please close this bug.

I can not confirm this behaviour in LO 3.3.4, OpenSuSE Linux 32bit. Which
version of LO do you mean? I don't think this has been a only-MAC-feature.

For me it the same bug as bug 45869 which has been fixed in master (LO 3.7)
only not in LO 3.6.
I tried with the master and in got the same thing with preview and pdf export.

Best regards. JBF

I have run the clang analyzer on LibreOffice master ~2012-08-02 with
'--with-system-libs' in order to exclude reporting of issues in 3rd party code.
The only exceptions being:

1.) '--with-system-saxon=no'
Because the open source HE variant of saxon does not have all the
necessary features.

2.) '--with-system-libcmis'
Because I couldnt get LO building with Fedora's libcmis-0.2.3 and
libcmis-devel-0.2.3.

I have uploaded the generated report here:

...but it can cause more problems than the broken CApitals AutoCorrect option

The fix from comment 12 fixes that for LO 3.7, and I intend to get that

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 rc
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: frank.rich...@ergora.eu

Created attachment 65080
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65080
simple document showing this bug.

While inserting a link to external data (http-URL), numbers in a html formatted
table are always interpreted as text, not as number. That is different from
former verions of LibreOffice (up to version 3.5) and OpenOffice.
So, as a result, all calculations with this data receive zeroes.
Workaround is to wrap everything in value(...) functions, but that requires a
lot of changes in a lot of tables here.

Checking "Detect special numbers (such as dates)" in the "Import
Options"-dialogue does not make any difference.

We already have some scripting in place that sends a comment to a bug if the
fix gets integrated. It would be nice to also notify the bug about a patch
being uploaded to gerrit, so people can test the fix.

https://github.com/openstack-ci/gerritbot

I likely a good base for that.

 Bug #: 53093

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Severity: normal

Created attachment 65087

Window resized with top, then with bottom edge.

Problem description:
LibreOffice 3.5.4.2
Build ID: 350m1(Build:2)

Widget layout in window is not updated correctly if the window is resized with
the top edge.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start up LibreOffice under xfce4
2. Resize the window vertically by grabbing the top edge of the window frame

Current behavior:
The window is not resized correctly, widgets get out of the visible area and
become unaccessible (if decreasing the window height) or empty areas appear (if
increasing the window height), both on top and bottom.
The wrong parts are not redrawn so they will contain garbage.

See screenshot.
The bug was already there in OpenOffice.

Expected behavior:
The window should be resized correctly.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Linux 32 bit, Debian, kernel 3.2.5

I have a large document > 100 pages with lots of tables, pictures, Fontwork
objects ... .

>From time to time when I open the document (with "LibreOffice 3.5.6.1 German
UI/Locale [Build-ID: 9cb76c3-dcba98b-297ab39-994e618-0f858f0] on German WIN7
Home Premium (64bit) ) all(?) fontwork objects appear at top left corner of
first page when I open the document. After a Minute or so the objects disappear
from first page.

I never saw an object missing on their correct page.

Unfortunately that effect only appears when I do not expect it, never when I
test. Some few tests with other 3.5 Versions did not show the effect, but see
sentence before!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51989] PDF export performance decreased in 3.6, exponentially depending on file size

2012-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51989

--- Comment #9 from Roman Eisele 2012-08-03 13:14:24 UTC ---
Hello Thomas,

first of all: thank you very much for investigating in this issue and taking
all the time necessary to replicate my example (I know it is rather enervating
to do such speed tests ;-)! Your results are, of course, very interesting:

> so in my case the older version is slower than the newer one ... :(

Wow! Well, this makes the issue much more complicated. What may be the reason?
The most probable idea I have for now is that there is some difference between
PDF export handling on MacOS X and Linux/Debian ... maybe some system/library
calls changed between LibO 3.5 and 3.6?

I will try do do some further tests (maybe on Windows, if I get access to a Win
machine) and then make additional remarks.

> Just out of interest: Which Java are you using?

Apple’s own version of Java, version 1.6.0_33, as supplied with the operation
system.

Do you know if LibreOffice PDF export depends somehow on Java?

The original reporter's registrymodifications.xcu file, which causes the
problem

I can REPRODUCE the problem with the “registrymodifications.xcu” file from
Jan’s User Profile folder: if I install it into my own LibO 3.5.x User Profile
folder, no one of the usual ways (see comment #2) opens the “Styles and

Therefore I attach Jan’s “registrymodifications.xcu” file to this bug report

It crashes in Window::GetAccessible. I think that there were more crashers

A workaround might be to disable accessibility support in your desktop.

These crashes are hard to reproduce and fix => they should not block the

I can confirm the bug under LO 3.3.4. It's only in the currency-field in
tablecontrols. But I dont use this fields, because they could not display
negativ values in a red color - so I haven't recognised this behaviour before.
I only use formatted fields for this function. This are the fields, which are
also created by the wizard for forms.
The currency-field seem to work without looking, that there are decimal-places.
Currently you have to multiplicate Minimum and Maximum with 100 (currencies
have 2 decimal-places).
I ste the Status to "New". Also I set the Importance to "Medium" and "Normal".
There mus be a difference between those Problems, which could make a using of
databases impossible and a Min-Max-problem in a field of the table-control.

One hint for fields, which should be for currencies in a HSQLDB-table: use
Decimal for the filed, not Double. Double is a floating-point number. With
Decimal you could define the Decimal-Places correctly.

When you choose:
INSERT -> 'Link to external data...'
and than link to a website with dates and numbers you get the question:

'Select the language to use for import'

It does not really matter what you select, nothing seems to make a difference.
Especially with dates when the day-of-month is 1-12 (so it could be a month in
the USA).

LibreOffice seems to always do the following:
- US/UK formated numbers are imported as number fields (and displayed according
to locale)
- Numbers with a "," as decimal separator are imported as text (easy to convert
with the VALUE() function as long as you use the "," as separator in your
locale).
- Dates are a mess: imported as text but translated to US-format anyway in
cases like day-of-month is below 13.

I guess the only real solution is to get everybody to start using ISO formatted
dates (MMDD) :-(
But maybe the 'Select the language to use for import' can be split in 2
working, separate options that honour the following choices:
- use "," or "." as decimal separator for numbers
- use ISO, US, "Rest of the world" for date (all three with/without common
separators like "-", "/", ..)

This might not work for written dates but these seem to work better according
to your locale?

Two examples reproduce:

1. - strict locale
Open a site that is clearly not US-English and consistent in using "non
US-dates" and a "," as a decimal separator, e.g.

https://www.asnbank.nl/asnappl/scripts/koersen/koersen.asp

Today (ISO 20120803) you get a table with something like (but with dutch text):

   Quote
   03-08-2012
Fund: 60,27

No matter if you choose "Automatic" or "Dutch", Calc insists on:

   08-03-2012
   60,27

Both are text fields in this case (see bug
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47109).

2. - Mixture of locales:
NYSE/Euronext is unable to select a locale and stick to it: Numbers are
formatted like US/UK-English, dates like NL/UK/.. when you select "NL".

http://www.euronext.com/trader/priceslists/priceslists-1800-NL.html

Example text from today:

ARCELORMITTAL .. AMS,PAR
12.25 16,537,998 2.90 03/08/12 17:38

Linking to this page gives numbers in "NUMBER" fields and the date as TEXT (@):
12,25 08-03-2012 17:38:00

Solution for the numbers is the VALUE() function which translates text wit
numbers in your own locale to NUMBER-format. For numbers in the other locale
the import worked.

For the date there is only an ugly manual solution possible for days like today
when LibreOffice insists on swapping the values around to US-date.

(roughly: convert the date to ISO-formatted string and see if it is between
today and 30-days ago, if not (future or long ago) it might be wrong,
especially when you retrieve stock quotes every few days like in this example)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53104] New: missing fonts

2012-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53104

 Bug #: 53104
   Summary: missing fonts
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: kengra...@yahoo.com

I was a word perfect and word user for years. I had found your product vastly
superior until recently. when I removed WP wingdings3 disappeared, a minor
issue. when I removed word arial narrow went missing. I use that font because
of its small size in flow charting software from rfflow. I am in the process
of upgrading from version 3 to 5 which may have addressed the issue. If not
must I reload (if I can find the disks) your competitors product to restore
these fonts?
Thanx for any help you can pprovide. ken
