[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53320] New: LibreOffice 3.6 will not open on Mountain Lion with unidentified developer error - GateKeeper

 Bug #: 53320
Summary: LibreOffice 3.6 will not open on Mountain Lion with
unidentified developer error - GateKeeper
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: exien...@gmail.com

LibreOffice 3.6.0 will not open in OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.

A popup window appears and says “LibreOffice” can’t be opened because it is
from an unidentified developer.

The only way to work-around that I know of is to go to system settings,
Security Privacy, and allow applications downloaded from Anywhere
See:
http://www.macworld.com/article/1165408/mountain_lion_hands_on_with_gatekeeper.html

Expected Result:
LibreOffice 3.6 should work immediately without extra settings, just like
LibreOffice 3.5 did.

installed with OS X 10.7, before I upgraded to 10.8.

I think none has done what gerry told us.
Now the new conditional formatting hs been distributed wiht 3.6.0 and - it
works as it was reported!
And in addition - saving a file distroys the conditional formatting done with
3.5.5.
This seems to be a little show-stopper!

I had 3.6 crash repeatedly no matter what the circumstances. It destroys
Windows Explorer and makes the computer completely unusable. I have to
 restore
windows to the pre install in order to use it again, so no hack is possible.
 I
have restored it to 3.5 and no problem and reinstalled it and again it crashes
 non stop.

To any future commenters to this bug (or any other bug): please refrain from
adding me too-style comments that do not add any new information. They only
clutter the bug history.

I see you have a hack for this problem, but I won't bother with
 that.

Suit yourself.

I assume this will be fixed on the next build?

No. It will be fixed after someone has found what causes the problem. Your
comment has not contributed the tiniest bit to that goal.

I played with a copy of your html file. Here is a new version of this file. I
only opened it with LO 3.6.0.4, changed the format of numbers (starting to
column 4) from text to number and saved under a new name.
Now using this html file as external data provider, works as expected.

Can you try with my file ?

 Best regards. JBF

With Your file LibreOffice works as expected. Your HTML-Table contains
non-standard attributes SDVAL= and SDNUM=. I assume, these are inserted by
LibreOffice and cause LO to re-read the numbers as numbers when used as
external data source.

This is funny. Finally came around to commit the (rather trivial) patch this
morning, only to find out I'm dispraised as somebody who broadcast[s] every
day
to be the better one (which I can't remember I ever did). I happened to look
into this issue earlier this week, and in the course of doing so noticed other
catastrophes that demanded more urgent fixing. Also, pathetic comments (just
some, not all, for sure) and claim of highest criticality -- is there data loss
involved? -- do not generally motivate one to treat such an issue as most
urgent. I do understand people's frustration with unaddressed issues, though.
(But if it frustrated you so much, you could also have had a stab at fixing it
yourself. Would have been a nice easy hack to get involved with the LO code
base.)

A few additional elements, my first descritpion was quite unclear:

The problem occurs on existing charts, when trying to edit the data range.

Trying to select several non contiguous cell blocks doesn't work, once the
mouse button is depressed, calc fills the data range and won't accept any other
selection.

I also tried to click on the column headings, it has no effect at all.

Occurs on LO3.6.0.4 Win XP 3.5.4.2 WinXP.

 Thanks for bugreport
IMHO it mentioned for those people who prefer to compile from source.

Yup, and devs are still working on patches for solaris[1].

Should this page be left as is? I am not sure it is linked from anywhere on the
site and it still refers to LibreOffice 3.3 (see bottom of the page).

We should perhaps mark this bug resolved.

broken rdb causes runtime error when saved to

Isolated to

user/extensions/bundled/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend/common.rdb

or common_.rdb

Copying either of those from my old broken user profile to a brand new one
triggers the runtime error on LO startup. Also annoying is that when removing
the user directory, and running LO to recreate it, LO quits after recreating
the profile dir, rather than starting. That confused me for a moment.

Broken common.rdb is attached

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43445] BUGZILLA: Drop-down lists disappear when you are moving your mouse to them

2012-08-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43445

--- Comment #1 from Marc Pare m...@marcpare.com 2012-08-10 08:28:03 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #0)
The LibreOffice version of the bug reporting page (at
 https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/) has 3 drop-down lists: for
component, sub-component and version. Each of these has the same annoying
 behaviour:
 - you move your mouse pointer to the green area at the right-hand end of the
 list's pseudo-text box
 - the drop-down list appears on the screen as soon as you hover over this
 green
 area
 - you move your mouse diagonally down and left so as to enter the drop-down
 list
 - the drop-down list disappears as soon as your mouse pointer leaves the green
area, before it has entered the drop-down list.

The only way you can get the list to remain on the screen is to move your
 mouse
sideways left from the green area, then down into the list - an unintuitive
 dog-leg.

Yes, I can confirm the behaviour as being the same on my system (FF-ESR 10.0.6;
MageiaLinux2).

I would suggest one of two solutions:
 1. Resize the pseudo-text box and/or the drop-down list so that they are the
same width, the green area being included in the width of the pseudo-text box.
 2. Even better, do away with the drop-down-on-hover behaviour completely, and
require a mouse click to bring down the list, as we are used to doing.

Yes, I would also prefer to require a mouse click to bring down the list, just
to avoid any confusion when moving the mouse from one side of the screen to the
other. Especially when the user is submitting a bug and this could lead to an
unintentional pick.

 Justifications:
 (a) Drop-down lists do not generally behave like this in other applications,
nor even in other browser pages. It is therefore unusual and unexpected
behaviour. Just because it is possible to code something new, that doesn't
 make it sexy and good.
 (b) Drop-down-on-hover has unwanted side effects, such as when you are moving
the mouse pointer across the screen, not wanting to bring down the list, but
you happen to hover over it; or even worse, when you are scrolling the page
using the keyboard, and the drop-down trigger area happens to fall underneath
 the mouse pointer.

Apache web server log files contain text data separated by spaces; data fields
containing spaces is enclosed in double quotes.

LibreOffice 3.4.x properly parses this data, 3.6.0.4 does not seem to want to
do so: it only sees the first and last double quotes and dumps everything in
between into one column instead of splitting it across columns.

I don't know about 3.5.x nor have I tried to confirm this on other platforms.

Example data line (w/o wrapping!)

mode. After saving it to a directory on your local drive it remains in read
only mode. In the past this was read/write mode. Version 3.5.5 was working like
this.

Using Linux Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit and Evolution 2.32.2 / Thunderbird 17.0A1

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached spreadsheet in Evolution. Read only mode
2. Save to a local directory to which you have access
3. Try to edit and it will be in read only mode.

Current behavior:

Stays in read only mode

Expected behavior:
Should switch to read/ write mode.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0
Firefox/17.0

Currently only sample document for WORD available

 @Reporter
Does that also happen in DRAW / CALC?
What's the history of the sample document? In your report you say it has been
 ...created in Microsoft
Word, but it's an .odt? How can the bug be reproduced with it? Please
contribute an unbroken step by step instruction how to reproduce the bug.

i tested this again on mac os x 10.6.8 with Libreoffice 3.6.0 .
to replicate the bug :
1. open Libreoffice .
2. start a new document .
3. write something (in hebrew of course) and try to put brackets around (while
still in hebrew) .
4. you will see that the brackets are facing the opposite direction that they
should be facing.

This happens in ALL the application that are part of Libreoffice .
The issue is probably related to fonts, because if you use the raanana font
with hebrew the issue doesn't occur.
Hopefully this clears out the misunderstanding .

Btw you should have checked comment #4.

Thank you for your time.

mirror.arlug.ro contains msi files, see:
http://mirror.arlug.ro/pub/tdf/libreoffice/stable/3.6.0/win/x86/

It is a problem with Internet Exporer.
http://serverfault.com/questions/40971/stop-ie8-renaming-files-to-zip-when-downloading
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_7/downloading-an-msi-file-renames-it-man-really/590868e5-d0a4-4815-99b9-667a097340a3?msgId=e4ec196b-9b41-49a4-999a-cf6d9e6fa5c3

So, you can deactivate this behavior in Internet Explorer 8:

Internet Options - Security Settings
   Custom Level - Miscellaneous section:
Open files based on content, not file extension

Even better, all mirrors should set the correct mimetype for msi:

AddType application/octet-stream .msi

@floeff: can you please notify mirror admins?

 1) What is done:

 When you open:

  http://extensions.libreoffice.org/

clicking on templates in the home - extensions - templates-tab navigation

 2) What is expected to happen:

 http://templates.libreoffice.org/template-center

The templates-tab is highlighted and I can directly navigate to templates
 below.

 3) What happens instead:

 http://templates.libreoffice.org/

home is highlighted on a very similar page -- to get to the template, it
seems like a broken link as it is almost the same page. Also templates and
 extensions sneakily exchanged their positions.

Clicking on the (now moved) templates to actually get there _again_ is
 rather
non-obvious and actually feel like mischief.

The same bug can be observed vice versa from templates to extensions. Note
 that
to endusers extensions and templates are not that different really.

This has been fixed on the sites.

Marc

As a nitpick: The header picture for the extensions and templates should have
the same height -- otherwise the transition from one to the other appears
 broken.

This is really another bug submission. I will re-submit this as another bug. --
Marc

High/Trivial as getting the links right shouldnt be too hard.

 Screenshot 2012.06.03@11am EU time

LibreOffice download page displays a Prerelease warning and offers
 duplicated
download buttons. Download buttons are linked to:
 - LibO_3.5.4rc2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi
 - LibO_3.5.4_Win_x86_install_multi.msi
 - LibO_3.5.4_Win_x86_helppack_(lang).msi
 - LibO_3.5.4rc2_Win_x86_helppack_(lang).msi
 in that order.
I am aware that release is bit-for-bit identical to rc2, but release download
page should not display confusing download links and especially not a
 prerelase
 warning.

The pre-release download page has been fixed and modified since this bug was
submitted. This bug is no longer valid. Will mark this as resolved and fixed.

Test Kit

Steps how to reproduce with Server Installation of LibreOffice 3.6.0.4
German UI/Locale [Build-ID: 932b512] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) and
attached test kit:

0. Download / unzip test kit.
1. Launch LibO
2. From LibO Start Center: menu 'File - Open - doc.ods' open
   Spreadsheet will be opened
3. menu 'File - Open - WebHmiCrossRef.txt' open
   CRASH

The crash is not reproducible for any FILEOPEN, only from doc.ods and several
other spreadsheets.

WebHmiCrossRef.txt is a text document generated by a PLC programming
environment, I never had problems with these documents.

CRASH also happens with parallel installation of Master LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+
  - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: 3ea6b1c]
(tinderbox:Win-x86@6, pull time 2012-08-09 00:01:28). Here I have to preselect
filetype Text .txt / .csv, without that selection LibO will open the document
as .csv (on my PD), what might be a separate bug.

No CRASH with 3.5.6.1, so Regression.

Hi Daniel,

(But if it frustrated you so much, you could also have had a stab at fixing it
yourself. Would have been a nice easy hack to get involved with the LO code
 base.)

That was a secret treasure bug, please contact me RE the details of the
payment. You just scored 100€. You can ask me to redirect it to any institution
you name or if you are freelancer or own a company you can invoice me for the
money yourself.

I would also be willing to get acquainted with the LO codebase but as far as I
am aware the two other bugs really frustrating me are very, very deep and my

Currently, if the page background of a page style is defined to show an image,
the image will just appear inside the page margins. So, if the user wants to
add a image as background that should cover the complete page size (paper
size), he/she will either have to adjust the page margins, or add the image
somewhere in the content area (maybe header/footer), setting it to entire
page and in background.

I think it's hard to understand that you can set a picture as background for a
paragraph with Entire Page setting, but not for the page itself.

(In reply to comment #21)
Unfortunately, even if I was not able to duplicate the issue with previous
 test
builds, now I have downloaded the new version (LO 3.5.5/Mac) and I'm unable to
get it working with my profile again. The problem was partially fixed: there's
no crash after profile reset. But it still doesn't start with old profile
 data.

To be more precise: Same configuration as in first post, same situation, but
 this time updating 3.5.4 - 3.5.5
 Result: Crash

We tried to figure this out offline, but with little success:

Sorry, looks like I'm running out of ideas then. From the symptoms you
describe, I would have come to the conclusion that it must be a corrupted
common.rdb. However, that wouldn't explain why the problem could be observed
for multiple user settings. Also, the common.rdb you sent works fine here.
Unfortunately I cannot set up a scenario where I could reproduce your problem.

If removing the per-user ~/Library/Application
Support/LibreOffice/3/user/extensions/bundled tree does help you, I have no
better idea for now than to remove that once per user. (It is only a cache and
is automatically recreated upon the next start of LO.) Incidentally, the fix
for another bug (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53006
'Autocorrection TWo INitial CApitals does not work because of bundled
extensions problem') will automatically remove that cache after a LO upgrade;
it will be available in LO 3.7 and hopefully also in LO 3.6.1.

So I'm setting this issue back to RESOLVED FIXED for now, as the original
problem /is/ fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53333] New: Using HSQLDB 2.2.9 for development

2012-08-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5

 Bug #: 5
Summary: Using HSQLDB 2.2.9 for development
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: fr...@users.sourceforge.net

Background: During the 2004-20011 period, I collaborated with OOo developers
Ocke Janssen and Frank Schoenheit to get Base to work with HSQLDB. I was not
involved in the development of Base itself. My role was to develop HSQLDB to
support the integration.

We changed the internal, embedded interface between Base and HSQLDB for the
integration of HSQLDB 1.9/2.x (which is a CWS) to allow a more efficient and
robust integration in future versions [1]. As a result, new versions of HSQLDB
no longer supported embedded databases with the older versions of Base (which
include the latest LO and AOO).

The last OOo and recent LO and AOO work fine with HSQLDB 2.x and external (as
opposed to embedded) databases. Enhancements added by OOo devs in their last
release seem essential.

Before the release of HSQLDB 2.2.9 I spent some time trying to get it to work
with embedded Base by restoring support for the old interface (while
maintaining CWS integration when necessary). This work was partly successful
but it is not complete due to lack of time. Updates do not work, as the
embedded file stream is closed.

The result is still useful for development, especially when investigating the
regression issues related to both Java and Base versions that are reported
elsewhere.

A special HSQLDB 2.2.9 jar needs to be compiled after uncommenting a line in
the org.hsqldb.persist.HsqlDatabaseProperties#save() method. A Jar will be made
available for this purpose (development use only) here
http://hsqldb.org/web/openoffice.html.

HSQLDB 2.2.8 / 2.2.9 supports logging database events and SQL statements with
these statements:

SET DATABASE EVENT LOG LEVEL 3
SET DATABASE EVENT LOG SQL LEVEL 3

Separate .app.log files are created alongside the .odb file, containing the
details of what goes on. One contains lines like this:

2012-08-04 12:28:23.890 NORMAL Checkpoint start
...
2012-08-04 12:28:23.890 NORMAL Checkpoint end

End users currently using version 2.2.8 / 2.2.9 with external file or server
databases can also enable the logs to see details of executed statements. [2]

I compared the source code of AOO 3.4 and LO 3.6 and found only minor
differences in database access. I tested with AOO as I was upgrading from OOo
3.2 on Windows.

While testing with a simple embedded database and AOO, I noticed the CHECKPOINT
statement is being sent to the embedded database after each SELECT statement
(these are issued internally while browsing table contents). This should not
happen. A CHECKPOINT uses significant resources and rewrites the .script and
.backup files even if the data has not changed at all.

[1] The new interface, org.hsqldb.persist.RandomAccessInterface includes
methods that are called from HSQLDB when the contents of the .data file need to
be persisted and when the size of this file is increased prior to adding new
data. Implementation of these methods inside Base could avoid memory errors
that could corrupt the embedded database.

[2] A less advanced form of EVENT LOG is supported by HSQLDB 1.8.0 and set via
a URL property (no SQL statement is available).

ODT document with screenshots showing the nature of the problem

Problem description: Copying graphical elements from Libreoffice Draw to
Libreoffice Writer are lost. This happens with connectors.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Draw 2 boxes
2. Draw a connector from the top part of one box to the top part of the other
box
3. Draw another connector between the same points but with a wider path.
4. Copy all of the boxes (by using the mouse to do a rectangular select) and
connectors and paste into Libreoffice Writer.

Current behavior: One of the connectors is lost (usually the one with the
longer length.

Expected behavior: Both connectors should be shown when pasted into Libreoffice
Writer.

Platform (if different from the browser): Tested on Windows 7 using Libreoffice
3.6.0.4 and under Kubuntu 12.04 using Libreoffice 3.5.4. Same result in both
cases.

I have also attached an ODT with screenshots showing the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53337] New: : Writer crashing in help window

2012-08-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53337

 Bug #: 53337
Summary: : Writer crashing in help window
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: wire...@gmx.net

Problem description: Writer is crashing when searching in offline-help. I tried
this on several different installations. This happens only with the x86_64
Linux version of this package. The x86 Linux version as well as the Windows
version are doing well.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install LibO_3.6.0_Linux_x86-64_langpack-deb_de.tar.gz
2. Install LibO_3.6.0_Linux_x86_langpack-deb_de.tar.gz
3. Install LibO_3.6.0_Linux_x86-64_helppack-deb_de.tar.gz
4. Start LibreOffice-Writer
5. Hit F1 to get the help
6. Go to Search-Tab
7. Enter any search phrase and hit enter

Current behavior: Writer is crashing immediately. When started from terminal
you get the following error message: terminate called after throwing an
instance of 'CLuceneError'

Expected behavior: Present some search results, or at least do not crash

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/14.0.1

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53340] New: FORMATTING: Master Slide Text Area Size Was Changed 3.4 - 3.5; Can't Be Changed Back

2012-08-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53340

 Bug #: 53340
Summary: FORMATTING: Master Slide Text Area Size Was Changed
3.4 - 3.5; Can't Be Changed Back
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: sean.car...@gmail.com

The default height of the master slide text area (where it says click here to
edit text was changed from version 3.4 to 3.5 (not sure why).

In a clean installation of 3.4.6 the Impress text area dimensions are

9.92 wide x 5.46 high (25.20cm x 13.86cm)

In 3.6.0.4 (but I'm almost 100% certain the problem began with the 3.5 series)
the default text area is:

9.70 x 4.79 (24.74cm x 12.18cm)

There are several problems with this change:

- The internal height (4.79 / 12.18cm) OVERRIDES existing user templates which
will of course impact existing user slide sets should a user try to insert a
new slide (text area is wrong).

- If a user tries to modify the text area dimensions of a master slide,
selecting the Protect Position Size option, saves, all is well - until the
user exits Impress. The next session will reset the height (but strangely not
width it seems) of a master slide text area in a user's template. [This
behavior also exists in 3.4.x but was never a problem as I didn't try to change
the text box dimensions]

This change poses major compatibility issues with slide sets created in
versions prior to 3.5 should a user need to insert new slides.

Suggested solution: allow user defined slide master text area to persist from
one session to another

This problem continues in libreoffice-core-3.5.5.3 (I'm using this on Fedora 17
x86_64 as well). It has been present for quite some time. I had to help a
coworker with this problem yesterday. Her screen was not high enough
resolution to allow the LibreOffice window to grow any wider.

The only way to remedy the problem was to remove other toolbar buttons to make
room for the font color button. This is far from obvious to desktop
productivity users.
