It destroys Windows Explorer and makes the computer completely unusable. I have to restore windows to the pre install in order to use it again, so no hack is possible. I have restored it to 3.5 and no problem and reinstalled it and again it crashes non stop. To any future commenters to this bug (or any other bug): please refrain from adding me too-style comments that do not add any new information. They only clutter the bug history. I see you have a hack for this problem, but I won't bother with that. Suit yourself. I assume this will be fixed on the next build? Finally came around to commit the (rather trivial) patch this morning, only to find out I'm dispraised as somebody who broadcast[s] every day to be the better one (which I can't remember I ever did). I happened to look into this issue earlier this week, and in the course of doing so noticed other catastrophes that demanded more urgent fixing. Also, pathetic comments (just some, not all, for sure) and claim of highest criticality -- is there data loss involved? -- do not generally motivate one to treat such an issue as most urgent. I do understand people's frustration with unaddressed issues, though. (But if it frustrated you so much, you could also have had a stab at fixing it yourself. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43445] BUGZILLA: Drop-down lists disappear when you are moving your mouse to them
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43445 --- Comment #1 from Marc Pare m...@marcpare.com 2012-08-10 08:28:03 UTC --- (In reply to comment #0) The LibreOffice version of the bug reporting page (at https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/) has 3 drop-down lists: for component, sub-component and version. Each of these has the same annoying behaviour: - you move your mouse pointer to the green area at the right-hand end of the list's pseudo-text box - the drop-down list appears on the screen as soon as you hover over this green area - you move your mouse diagonally down and left so as to enter the drop-down list - the drop-down list disappears as soon as your mouse pointer leaves the green area, before it has entered the drop-down list. The only way you can get the list to remain on the screen is to move your mouse sideways left from the green area, then down into the list - an unintuitive dog-leg. Yes, I can confirm the behaviour as being the same on my system (FF-ESR 10.0.6; MageiaLinux2). I would suggest one of two solutions: 1. Resize the pseudo-text box and/or the drop-down list so that they are the same width, the green area being included in the width of the pseudo-text box. 2. Even better, do away with the drop-down-on-hover behaviour completely, and require a mouse click to bring down the list, as we are used to doing. Yes, I would also prefer to require a mouse click to bring down the list, just to avoid any confusion when moving the mouse from one side of the screen to the other. Especially when the user is submitting a bug and this could lead to an unintentional pick. Justifications: (a) Drop-down lists do not generally behave like this in other applications, nor even in other browser pages. It is therefore unusual and unexpected behaviour. Just because it is possible to code something new, that doesn't make it sexy and good. (b) Drop-down-on-hover has unwanted side effects, such as when you are moving the mouse pointer across the screen, not wanting to bring down the list, but you happen to hover over it; or even worse, when you are scrolling the page using the keyboard, and the drop-down trigger area happens to fall underneath the mouse pointer. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47538] extensions and templates navigation very misleading
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47538 Marc Pare m...@marcpare.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution||FIXED --- Comment #1 from Marc Pare m...@marcpare.com 2012-08-10 08:48:32 UTC --- (In reply to comment #0) 1) What is done: When you open: http://extensions.libreoffice.org/ clicking on templates in the home - extensions - templates-tab navigation 2) What is expected to happen: http://templates.libreoffice.org/template-center The templates-tab is highlighted and I can directly navigate to templates below. 3) What happens instead: http://templates.libreoffice.org/ home is highlighted on a very similar page -- to get to the template, it seems like a broken link as it is almost the same page. Also templates and extensions sneakily exchanged their positions. Clicking on the (now moved) templates to actually get there _again_ is rather non-obvious and actually feel like mischief. The same bug can be observed vice versa from templates to extensions. Note that to endusers extensions and templates are not that different really. This has been fixed on the sites. So, if the user wants to add a image as background that should cover the complete page size (paper size), he/she will either have to adjust the page margins, or add the image somewhere in the content area (maybe header/footer), setting it to entire page and in background. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50603] Unable to update LibreOffice without resetting user profile
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50603 Stephan Bergmann sberg...@redhat.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REOPENED|RESOLVED Resolution||FIXED --- Comment #26 from Stephan Bergmann sberg...@redhat.com 2012-08-10 10:04:56 UTC --- (In reply to comment #21) Unfortunately, even if I was not able to duplicate the issue with previous test builds, now I have downloaded the new version (LO 3.5.5/Mac) and I'm unable to get it working with my profile again. The problem was partially fixed: there's no crash after profile reset. But it still doesn't start with old profile data. To be more precise: Same configuration as in first post, same situation, but this time updating 3.5.4 - 3.5.5 Result: Crash We tried to figure this out offline, but with little success: Sorry, looks like I'm running out of ideas then. From the symptoms you describe, I would have come to the conclusion that it must be a corrupted common.rdb. However, that wouldn't explain why the problem could be observed for multiple user settings. Also, the common.rdb you sent works fine here. Unfortunately I cannot set up a scenario where I could reproduce your problem. If removing the per-user ~/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice/3/user/extensions/bundled tree does help you, I have no better idea for now than to remove that once per user. (It is only a cache and is automatically recreated upon the next start of LO.) Incidentally, the fix for another bug (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53006 'Autocorrection TWo INitial CApitals does not work because of bundled extensions problem') will automatically remove that cache after a LO upgrade; it will be available in LO 3.7 and hopefully also in LO 3.6.1. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53333] New: Using HSQLDB 2.2.9 for development
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5 Bug #: 5 Summary: Using HSQLDB 2.2.9 for development Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Database AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: fr...@users.sourceforge.net Background: During the 2004-20011 period, I collaborated with OOo developers Ocke Janssen and Frank Schoenheit to get Base to work with HSQLDB. I was not involved in the development of Base itself. My role was to develop HSQLDB to support the integration. We changed the internal, embedded interface between Base and HSQLDB for the integration of HSQLDB 1.9/2.x (which is a CWS) to allow a more efficient and robust integration in future versions [1]. As a result, new versions of HSQLDB no longer supported embedded databases with the older versions of Base (which include the latest LO and AOO). The last OOo and recent LO and AOO work fine with HSQLDB 2.x and external (as opposed to embedded) databases. Enhancements added by OOo devs in their last release seem essential. Before the release of HSQLDB 2.2.9 I spent some time trying to get it to work with embedded Base by restoring support for the old interface (while maintaining CWS integration when necessary). This work was partly successful but it is not complete due to lack of time. Updates do not work, as the embedded file stream is closed. The result is still useful for development, especially when investigating the regression issues related to both Java and Base versions that are reported elsewhere. A special HSQLDB 2.2.9 jar needs to be compiled after uncommenting a line in the org.hsqldb.persist.HsqlDatabaseProperties#save() method. A Jar will be made available for this purpose (development use only) here http://hsqldb.org/web/openoffice.html. HSQLDB 2.2.8 / 2.2.9 supports logging database events and SQL statements with these statements: SET DATABASE EVENT LOG LEVEL 3 SET DATABASE EVENT LOG SQL LEVEL 3 Separate .app.log files are created alongside the .odb file, containing the details of what goes on. One contains lines like this: 2012-08-04 12:28:23.890 NORMAL Checkpoint start ... 2012-08-04 12:28:23.890 NORMAL Checkpoint end End users currently using version 2.2.8 / 2.2.9 with external file or server databases can also enable the logs to see details of executed statements. [2] I compared the source code of AOO 3.4 and LO 3.6 and found only minor differences in database access. I tested with AOO as I was upgrading from OOo 3.2 on Windows. While testing with a simple embedded database and AOO, I noticed the CHECKPOINT statement is being sent to the embedded database after each SELECT statement (these are issued internally while browsing table contents). This should not happen. A CHECKPOINT uses significant resources and rewrites the .script and .backup files even if the data has not changed at all. [1] The new interface, org.hsqldb.persist.RandomAccessInterface includes methods that are called from HSQLDB when the contents of the .data file need to be persisted and when the size of this file is increased prior to adding new data. Implementation of these methods inside Base could avoid memory errors that could corrupt the embedded database. [2] A less advanced form of EVENT LOG is supported by HSQLDB 1.8.0 and set via a URL property (no SQL statement is available). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53340] New: FORMATTING: Master Slide Text Area Size Was Changed 3.4 - 3.5; Can't Be Changed Back
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53340 Bug #: 53340 Summary: FORMATTING: Master Slide Text Area Size Was Changed 3.4 - 3.5; Can't Be Changed Back Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.6.0.4 release Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Presentation AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: sean.car...@gmail.com The default height of the master slide text area (where it says click here to edit text was changed from version 3.4 to 3.5 (not sure why). In a clean installation of 3.4.6 the Impress text area dimensions are 9.92 wide x 5.46 high (25.20cm x 13.86cm) In 3.6.0.4 (but I'm almost 100% certain the problem began with the 3.5 series) the default text area is: 9.70 x 4.79 (24.74cm x 12.18cm) There are several problems with this change: - The internal height (4.79 / 12.18cm) OVERRIDES existing user templates which will of course impact existing user slide sets should a user try to insert a new slide (text area is wrong). - If a user tries to modify the text area dimensions of a master slide, selecting the Protect Position Size option, saves, all is well - until the user exits Impress. The next session will reset the height (but strangely not width it seems) of a master slide text area in a user's template. [This behavior also exists in 3.4.x but was never a problem as I didn't try to change the text box dimensions] This change poses major compatibility issues with slide sets created in versions prior to 3.5 should a user need to insert new slides. Suggested solution: allow user defined slide master text area to persist from one session to another -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I had to help a coworker with this problem yesterday. Her screen was not high enough resolution to allow the LibreOffice window to grow any wider. The only way to remedy the problem was to remove other toolbar buttons to make room for the font color button.
