[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53525] New: FILEOPEN existing document: 2 columns Table of contents exceeds page width

2012-08-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53525

 Bug #: 53525
Summary: FILEOPEN existing document: 2 columns Table of
contents exceeds page width
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

Created attachment 65583
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65583
sample document with screenshot

Steps how to reproduce with parallel installation of Master "LOdev
3.7.0.0.alpha0+ - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: 6900781]"
(tinderbox: 2008R2@20, pull time 2012-08-14 09:27:23):

1. open attached "sample10.odt":
Bug: right from the TOC some strange link entries are shown

Comparing it with view in 3.5.6 (3.6.0.4) you will find out that
it's a 2 columns TOC, but wrongly first column takes complete page width.
Exceeding page width will not help, first column width will be exceeded, too.

Currently I only observed that with 1 document (so reason might be damaged
document?), I attached a copy as sample document.

To me it seems like margins are changing and this is causing the problem. If
you notice what starts page 2 for the .doc it's different from the .docx. This
could very well be the same bug that you reported for 46490.

For a developer working on this, please see FDO#46490 to see if these are
duplicates or just related.

Confirming the bug and setting priority. Set as High due to interoperability
issue and the fact that .docx is now the norm which makes this bug affect
professional quality of work.

This bug appears in Version 3.6.1.0+ (Build ID: cd656ac). I couldn't choose
this version above.
In the example-database of
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53527
is a report with a littel user defined function.

Open the report for editing.
Draw a textfield at the group-footer.
Look at the propersties of the textfiled.
Choose in "Data" "User defined Function".
In LO 3.3.4 you could now choose in a listfeld the User defined Function
[Priceadd].
In LO 3.6.1.0+ you couldn't choose any User defined Function. So you couldn't
design a report with User defined Functions in this LO-Version.

A little description is also added to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53527

Okay thank you for your info, but I, as well as Rainer, have the problem to
reproduce the bug. Is it possible to make a simpler test case, like

In test1.zip are two files
1) File to insert into LibreOffice
2) PNG how it should look like
3) Maybe a description what is the difference, if it is difficult to see.

I am very sorry, but without that info I am not able to set it to NEW...

However, the links of comment 7 do work.

Florian,

Am re-opening as unconfirmed, will test later today, then report back. The
original submitter has given us enough information to test, at least for those
of us who know Base, so its rather unfair to state that we needmoreinfo unless
we've actually tested.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53530] New: Write error on PDF opened by acroread - nuisance

2012-08-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53530

 Bug #: 53530
Summary: Write error on PDF opened by acroread - nuisance
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Printing and PDF export
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: dirkwil...@web.de

Any time I try to perform PDF export on a PDF file already openend in Acroread
on Windows 7, I am getting a write error (twice) due to access limitations,
then a general I/O error. While this is basically OK, it still is a nuisance:
all error messages require clicking OK, then I have to close the PDF in
acroread (OK, I could have done it before...), then initiate the entire process
again.

Suggestion: Would it not be nice if the procedure behaves like others in Win7:
if such a condition occurs, a Window pops us, saying that we cannot write on
the open file, then asking us to close the file and offer the possibility to
repeat the write attempt?

I would love it if it behaved that way...

Confirming : I can reproduce the behaviour on LO 3.4.4 on Linux Mint 12 64bit,
will try with other versions and try and get a trace from a debug build if it
is still present in one of the latest builds.

This bug still prevents companies to use LibreOffice in a multi-user

Please consider reopening this bug, which is actually a request for
enhancement. There is little additional information that can be provided, so I
don't understand why it had been marked as NEEDINFO in the first place: either
a crash reporter is added in LibreOffice, or it is not. (Yes, I understand that
it is not that trivial!) What's more, if it is added, the crash reporter will
provide information for many of those bugs, that I assume are also being closed
as WONTFIX, due to lack of additional information.

BTW, why was this bug closed not once, but four times? Is someone so vehemently
opposed to adding a crash reporter to LibreOffice?

Ah, but if you have Access already installed, you don't have to worry about
whether or not you need to look for and download the Jet/ADO/MDAC components,
which could be more or less problematic depending on how old your Windows OS is

I still see some questions:
a) Is this a general problem or only visible with this particular document and
the
   particular picture?
b) what type of picture / object causes the problem?

Currently only 1 document in the world with some very strange creation of
graphics showing curves in a coordinates system is affected, so I don't see
this one with major severity

BTW: I would prefer component WRITER with a Summary link like "FILEOPEN
particular .doc ", because I do not understand these dev. Components and
bcause no normal user will find a DUP under such a Component.

Due to reporter's comments the problem is inherited from OOo, so the
appropriate version is 3.3.0 Beta2, I modified

I do not think that it is a good idea to use a Whiteboard key word
"openofficebug" without any explication. For what should it be useful?

This worked fine in the previous version of Libre Office and in Open Office,
but now after I close the file and open it again the view shows:
00/00/ (?)

'showstopper' really? especially since you say Excel or Google docs do the same
thing, its been like this forever etc. etc.
I think your scenario is not that common, this hardly this qualifies as a
showstopper. Further more as Kohei explained this is by design ( admittedly
there is room for improvement ) therefore I am making this an enhancement.
Anyway since the new inputbar does allow you to view and edit text that would
normally be hidden in this scenario the situation has been improved somewhat.

Since the reporter seems not to think the inputbar addresses this issue I am
returning this to the pool.

I couldn't reproduce the reported problem under Linux (LibO 3.6.0.4). I have
made an extra uninstall/install, too.

Possible fix for the reported problem:

On Windows, in a Command Prompt window enter "rmdir /q /s
%appdata%\LibreOffice\3\user\extensions"
After that, please restart LibreOffice twice.

What about ?

@Florian:
What do you think how this particular kind of Extension can be handled best? I
have no knowledge concerning Linux. Can you leave a comment and may be add
András (or an other expert) to CC for additional hints?

Best is to poke Andras on the topic :-)
My hope would be that we can reduce the size & duplication of these things by
using multiple dictionaries a base "all-english" one, and then some US
specific, GB specific, NZ specific derivatives etc. Not sure if that's how it
works - but it'd be lovely to make it so if not.

Anyhow - Andras; all yours :-)

The formular bar I agree makes it possible to see the text after all - not

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33801] WW format returns different result than weeknum() in UK

2012-08-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33801

--- Comment #8 from seu...@gmail.com 2012-08-15 10:00:03 UTC ---
Well, I would have have thought that asking for the week number and getting two
different answers, depending on where you asked, would obviously be a bug! :)

weeknum() is the one returning the correct value. The WW formatting seems to
have different code (why?! - surely it should basically be applying a formula
to itself?) and gives what appears to the the USA calculation for week number.

Under the Europe/ISO standard, the first week of the year is the week that has
the first Thursday of the year.

Under the US standard, the first week of the year is the week that has the
first of January (or something; I don't know the exact calculation).

That's why some years they match up and some years they don't. But it's not
like it requires any new code: weeknum() gets it right! Just make sure that WW
is using the correct weeknum() code, yes?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37575] Locking files on open

--- Comment #10 from Michael Meeks 2012-08-15

comment 4 was surely such a request ? we rely on users to re-test issues for
new releases.

However in this case it sounds like this was deliberate.

Much as I loathe specifications for trivial changes, the file load/save/locking
situation is sufficiently, horribly tangled - and riddled with nasty problems
(like missing samba locking under Linux) that this is a minefield.

I guess if you want a full fix here, first we need to know what that looks like
- which means working with UX to iterate & improve a specification for this.

It is worth noticing that only old gnome-vfs' on some Linux's had built-in
smb:// locking support; new gio backends do not (IIRC), if you're using a
native platform mount the situation is different again - so if this works on
windows as you expect; I imagine there is simple some missing implementation of
locking in the underlying implementation.

It'd be good to know what linux, and how the SMB mount / access is done.

This is a follow-up of bug 52078. Bug 53420 might be related.

Windows Explorer shell extension of LibreOffice works with ODF files. However,
if ODF file is corrupted, shell extension's code could not tolerate it, and
crashes with unhandled exception error. Just rename any non-ODF file to .odt
for example. It can be triggered with a Flat ODF file for sure.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53536] New: EDITING: Inserting text as centered jumps to another cell position.

2012-08-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53536

 Bug #: 53536
Summary: EDITING: Inserting text as centered jumps to another
cell position.
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: sumu...@novell.com

Created attachment 65598
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65598
Sample spreadsheet.

Steps:
1. Open the attached document.
2. Start typing a long text in F5

Observation:
Once the text in F5 goes larger than the cell width, it jumps to center of
E5:G5 instead of being centered at F5.
This is quite irritating while inserting the text.

[Could be a candidate for easy-hack.]

thanks for re-testing ! we rely on users to re-check their bugs vs. the latest
versions :-) I imagine the problem persists for 3.6 but perhaps worth a check.
So re-opening.

Thanks.

I think we should close this bug ( please re-open if you feel wronged ) My
reason is that I cannot ( and it seems that I am not alone reproduce a
situation where it's indicated that paste-special ( in context menu ) should
work and it then doesn't. Granted on linux ( prior to my patch above ) the
context menu and the edit menu disagreed ( because paste-special was hardcoded
to be always 'enabled'in the edit menu )

So - we have both warnings as strings available; we need to be returning
SCWARN_EXPORT_MAXCOL instead of MAXROW for this case to get the right string.

I suspect code like this in sc/ is to blame that flattens any rangeoverflow to
a MAXROW warning; prolly we want more semantic richness there.

  if( eRet == eERR_RNGOVRFLW )
eRet = SCWARN_EXPORT_MAXROW;

a git grep for the SCWARN_EXPORT_MAXROW or RNGOVRFLW will show you the code to
hack => EasyHack.

My coding days are long past, so, probably not. :-(

However, didn't the old OpenOffice.org used to have such a feature, before the
days of LibreOffice? If so, perhaps the relevant code can be reinstated.
