[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53655] : Install 3.6.1 RC 1 on 3.6.0 RC4, causes crash on startup

2012-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53655

--- Comment #3 from Kim Bastin 2012-08-18 04:14:33 UTC ---
Confirmed on WinXP SP3 after installing 3.6.1 rc1 over 3.6.0 final (= 3.6.0.4).
Launching LibreOffice either from the desktop icon or by clicking on an
associated file resulted in the sequence of error messages described above.

Deleting the directory manually helped very little, as the next launch failed
in exactly the same way on failing to delete another directory, then another —
all subdirectories of c:\Documents and
Settings\[me]\LibreOffice\3\user\extensions\bundled\registry\

Inspection revealed hundreds more files in subdirectories.

Renaming the \registry\ element of the path did not help: its subdirectories
were still found and failed to delete.

Renaming the \bundled\ element of the path fixed the problem.

2012-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 53663
Summary: EDITING: Ugly shading in row/column headers when using
Windows Classic theme
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.1.1 rc
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal

Created attachment 65718

screenshot of windows classic theme

This is more of a stylistic preference than a bug per se.

When using the Aero theme, Libreoffice applies a very light (almost
imperceptible unless it's the highlighted row or column) shading to the right
side of row headers and bottom of column header.

When the user switches to the Windows classic theme, the shading becomes
incredibly pronounced and (in my opinion) pretty ugly.

Same problem here, using version 3.6 on Windows, and version 3.5.4.2 on Ubuntu
12.04 (64 bits). It doesn't matter the font I'm using to write my equations.
Plus symbol doesn't match it: OpenSymbol is used instead.
Any way to fix it?

remembered setting is crucial for me to be able to use the program. For me the
importance is "highest", but I just upped it to "high". :-) Since this is a
regression from OOo, I also changed this from "enhancement" to "normal". I
updated version and platform.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53656] New: PIVOTTABLE: Pivot tables that worked in 3.5.n fail in 3.6

2012-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53656

 Bug #: 53656
Summary: PIVOTTABLE: Pivot tables that worked in 3.5.n fail in
3.6
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: t...@tim-passingham.co.uk

Problem description:

I have some pivot tables in Calc based on moderately complex queries on a MySQL
database, via a database registered in LibreOffice. These used to work. With
3.6 they return incorrect data. They seem to decouple the row fields from the
data fields, and report the data in purely ascending order independent of the
row field. Thus if I have data

A 20
B 10
C 15

The Pivot table now incorrectly returns

A 10
B 15
C 20

I have used MySql with JDBC, with ODBC and (in 3.5 only) the native connector
(to check if the connection method is the cause). All 3 options return the
correct data when viewed in Base in 3.5 and 3.6, and the correct data in Calc
in 3.5, but incorrect data in Calc in 3.6.

I have also used queries defined within Base itself on the MySQL database, and
views defined within MySQL. The results are the same.

I have concluded the problem, must lie in the 'enhanced' pivot tables in 3.6.

I have tried to pin down where the problem is in 3.6. I suspect, but am not
yet sure, that it may be queries with Left or Right joins that may be causing
the problems. I have a couple of straightforward pivot tables that seemed to
be OK, but all those with more complex underlying structures failed badly.

Unfortunately I need the system on my main PC to return the correct data and
have had to revert to 3.5.6. I can't easily switch between 3.5 and 3.6 to test
any hypotheses.

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install 3.6.1 RC 1 (over 3.6.0 RC 4)
2. Start LibreOffice
3. Crashes attempting to remove directory:
c:\Documents and Settings\My user name\Application
Data\LibreOffice\3\user\extensions\...

I regret that I didn't write down the folders... I have shared, tmp and bundled
left. I "fixed" this by manually deleting the folders until the startup crash
stopped happening. The first folder that caused a problem was nested two
folders down from the one listed above and held sun.org components. I had to
delete 4 or five folders manually to get the startup to work without a fatal
error about "unable to delete folder".

Problem description:
When the text orientation is between 91 and 269 degrees, the Horizontal text
alignment does not work when "Wrap text automatically" is checked. Selecting
any of the choice in Horizontal text alignment does not change the position of
the text regardless of the choice. However, when the text orientation is
between 0 and 90 or 270 and 360 (it is shown as 0), all choices work as they
should. Also, if the Wrap text is unchecked, the Horizontal text alignment
works. So it is something to do with wrapping text in a cell and the text
orientation.
Steps to reproduce:
1.Select a cell.
2. Enter some text longer than the cell.
3. Right click the cell and select "Format cells" from the context menu.
4. Click the Alignment tab.
5. Check "Wrap text automatically".
6. Select a text orientation between 91 and 269 degrees.
7. Click OK.
8. Apply each of the Alignment tools.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53653] New: FILEOPEN: Attempting to open Very Large Excel Spreadsheets CRASH Calc.

2012-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

ReportedBy: o...@wt.net

Problem description: When I attempt to open large (~13MB or greater) excel
spreadsheets, Calc first becomes very busy; CPU activity maxes out; memory
usage is great but not 100%. After a long lock up, system diagnostics indicate
that libreoffice is waiting for something to happen even as the CPU keeps
churning. Then libreoffice crashes. When libreoffice is restarted, any
attempt to "recover" starts the crash all over again. My work around has been
to open the Excel sheets on another computer using Gnome's Gnumeric. Gnumeric
opens the Excel sheets instantaneously; then I convert them to open document
.ods files, whereafter I can open them using libreoffice calc with all
functionality, but without the speed of operations using Gnumeric.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Attempt to open any very large Excel spreadsheet.

Current behavior: As described.

Expected behavior: Easy to open large Excel sheets, and rapid operation of
sheet functions.

Platform (if different from the browser): I am using libreoffice Version

I confirm that *.fodt is associated with
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-flat-xml
and *.fodp is associated with
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation-flat-xml in
/usr/share/mime/packages/libreoffice3.6.xml, coming from
libreoffice3.6-suse-menus-3.6.1-1.noarch.rpm

That's still "duplicate definitions" with shared-mime-info, but at least they
match.

It doesn't matter what is being searched for or in what module the search is
being performed in/from. The crash is always immediate. The net result is
that one must manually browse possible help areas looking for a term that could
be searched globally in an instant if the SEARCH feature was working as it

@Sebastian -- Sorry, I don't have an example file that we can use to
troubleshoot this problem. I created this bug in response to a question on the
Ask.LO site and never got an attached file from the OP. It's been a couple
months since the last update from OP, so unless you want to try pinging the
user again, I think it's probably fine to mark as No Repro and close it out.

@jochen

This bug is a problem of some jaya-versions with the integrated database and
external databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.
When I tested with LO 3.3.4, I took Java 1.6.0_22;
with LO 3.6.1 RC1 I took Java 1.6.0_29 and Openjdk 1.6.0_24

I have tested it with the attachment and LO 3.3.4 under OpenSuSE 32bit rpm -
could not reproduce any error with the report.

Then I tried to start the report with LO 3.6.1 RC1. Every test crashes the
whole LO. But this has nothing to do with "analyze SQL command" set to "yes" or
set to "no". Must be another problem with that file ...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53649] New: FORMATTING: dormant 2d page .odt header reduces 1st page margin in LibreOffice

2012-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53649

 Bug #: 53649
Summary: FORMATTING: dormant 2d page .odt header reduces 1st
page margin in LibreOffice
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: drt...@yahoo.com

Created attachment 65702
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65702
This document, created by Word, will display with a one-inch first-page margin
in Word 2007, and with a half inch first-page margin in LibreOffice 3.3.0

Problem description:

Starting with Word document saved in .odt format. The document has no first
page header, but it does have a second page header. The second page header is
dormant, i.e., correctly not displaying in either Word or LibreOffice because
there no longer is a second page on the document. (Actually quite common when
one document seeds another, especially letters)

When created and saved in Word using .odt, the first-page margin is one inch.
When opened in LibreOffice, the first page margin incorrectly is reduced to a
half-inch. If saved in LibreOffice, the change to a half-inch first page
margin will be preserved and visible if opened again in Word.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create document in Word 2007 with one-inch top margin
2. Type something, and then enter carriage returns until you get to page two
3. Create a header on page 2
4. Change the header setting to "First Page Different" so that the heading is
only on page two
5. Delete some of the carriage returns so that page two no longer displays
6. Save in .odt.
7. Open in LibreOffice. First page top margin now will be a half-inch. Same
.odt file in Word will display with one inch top margin.

Current behavior: LibreOffice reduces first page top margin because of
existence of dormant second page header

Expected behavior: No reduction to first page top margin where there is a
second-page dormant header

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1

I don't know what you mean with "plain grid-like table data editor". The only
way to link one table to another with listflieds is in a form. When you think
about a form there is no difference between a listfield in a tablecontrol or a
form itself.

When you think about input direct in the table in the table-view (not a form)
it will confuse everybody who creates tables. When there is a foreignkey, given
as numberfield INTEGER, I must see this number in the table, not the text,
which is connected to it. A form could hide it, not the table itself.

When you will use listfields or combofileds you have to choose a form.

@Radek Doulik:
IMHO this looks like a useful feature request, even if it might be a rather
laborious task. Please take a look at it, maybe leave a comment about how
difficult it would be to implement this feature, and some hints about how that
could be done, and consider coming back to it if you ever wonder which new
features should be implemented next ... ;-)

IMHO this is a valid enhancement request, and the feature requested would be
really useful; therefore changed the Status to NEW.

Of course, one could just export the drawing pages as PDF file, and then
present this with a PDF viewer (yes, it does work, I have done so ;-); but many
people will not regard this as a good way to present the slides.

Given the fact that "Impress [is] a hack on top of Draw" (quotation from
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sd/README?h=libreoffice-3-6
), it should be not that difficult to add some Draw -> Impress conversion.

certainly dates seem to be a problem here, I can reproduce the problem with the
simple test db doc attached earlier ( I just added a new date field and created
a couple of entries to filter )

I am taking this bug for the moment, if it's happening in the c++ code I reckon
I can have a good crack at fixing it, if I have no luck then I will return the
bug to the pool again.

Yes, the process "EQNEDT32.EXE" is running. Task Manager can not kill him,
because it auto runs again immediately.

1. What if the Microsoft Office 2007 is required to detect errors import and
export of OOXML, which is very much?

2. LibreOffice is created and saved ODF file immediately when OOXML file save
as Flat XML (see file "proekt_MU.fodt_0.odt" in the attachment). Why ODT but
not FODT?

3. Maybe a message with the 24th and 29th should be allocated to the new bug,
assigning it a "critical" rather than "blocking" and the bug 46716 still
closed?

Hello Víctor Hugo Suárez Candal,

I have tried to reproduce this bug on MacOS X in order to confirm it, but I
have got a little problem to follow your description exactly. In step 3, you
say "Copy&paste the formula." How do you copy the formula (pressing command +
C?), and how and where do you paste it -- into the same formula editor window
(and if so, then: just after the present formula, or on a new line?), into a
new formula editor window, or ... somewhere else?

I know that this seems a very very stupid question, but obviously the exact way
of copy and paste makes a difference -- on my first attempts, I could NOT
reproduce the issue with LibO 3.6.0.4, probably due to some misunderstanding
regarding the copy and paste ...

Thank you very much in advance for your answer!

In consequence of my results given in comment #11, I change the status of this
bug report to RESOLVED/WORKSFORME, because IMHO the text rendering of
LibreOffice 3.6.1.1 on MacOS X (10.6) is not (anymore) _clearly_ inferior to
Apple’s one.

Everybody, feel free to reopen this bug report if you find good (!) evidence
that LibreOffice’ text rendering is still clearly inferior to Apple’s ;-)

Created attachment 65699
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65699
Font Rendering Screenshot, TextEdit 1.6 on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel)

I have attached two new screenshots comparing the rendering of different text
fonts in LibreOffice 3.6.1.1 and Apple TextEdit 1.6, both on MacOS X 10.6.8
(Intel). So everybody can do the comparison himself/herself.

However, there is an important difficulty to create really meaningful
screenshots for comparison: at least on my machine (which has got a
high-resolution display with >= 120ppi), the view zoom setting is handled very
differently between LibreOffice and TextEdit -- 100% in LibreOffice is nearly
twice the size of 100% in TextEdit. Therefore I had to use some approximation:
100% zoom and 12pt text size in LibreOffice ~ 200% zoom and 11pt text size in
TextEdit.

Be aware that comparison at pixel level will be not really fair because of this
little difference; we should concentrate on the comparison at the normal use
level, i.e. without zooming into the images. This menas: What is the overall
impression of the text rendering by both applications? Is the text more legible
or clearer or more beautiful in the one or in the other?

Doing a comparison by this guidelines, I would answer to the original bug
description:

(In reply to comment #0)
> LO's text rendering is different and clearly inferior to Pages's
> text rendering.

IMHO LibO’s text rendering is now (LibO 3.6.1.1) definitely different to Pages’
text rendering, but it is not clearly inferior. It may even be a matter of fact
which text rendering seems the better one. If you zoom into both screenshots, I
would consider the text rendering of TextEdit as sharper and clearer, and maybe
the same is true at 100% zoom size, but IMHO the difference is not very
important.

> Is LO using the latest and greatest Mac OS X API for rendering text?

I don’t think so (at least it did not use the current API some time ago), and
this will definitely cause some problems, but IMHO the text rendering is NOT a
big problem. Please don’t forget that we have to support MacOS X 10.4, 10.5,
10.6, 10.7, and now 10.8 ... we can’t just switch, e.g., to MacOS X > 10.7 only
stuff ...

Okay. Checked at my office. Here's what I discovered in the latest RC of 3.6.1:
the filter works in Calc for most things. However, certain types of data cannot
be filtered. For instance, dates and times cannot be filtered. You get the
exact behaviour I noted in the first report. It may actually be that the bug
was related only to date/time filtering in 3.5 as well . . . to be honest, that
was what I was testing and I don't know if I ever thought to test another type
of field and maybe never noticed I hadn't tested other types.

Intentionally typing errors with "auto correct" on produces no correction.
then asking spell check to "check" doc, brings
up spell check window which says " spell check complete" no errors found.
Spell check worked fine on my initial use of an early version of Libre office,

--- Comment #9 from Roman Eisele 2012-08-17 13:39:47 UTC ---
Sorry -- I wanted to leave an additional comment about this issue earlier (cf.
my preliminary comment #4), but lost track of this bug. So, reminded by the
closing message, here are finally some remarks:

(In reply to comment #2)
> [...] but in the monospace
> fonts listed in my first post it's still a problem because each character is
> supposed to take up the same amount of space.

Well, after trying it myself again and examining your screenshot, I would say
that it should not be a (big) problem even in the monospace fonts listed in
comment #0 (Courier and Monaco, probably also Menlo?!), because the ligatures
fi and fl should take exactly the space of a single character, so that the
aligment would not be disturbed by the ligatures.

But:

(In reply to comment #2)
> All other monospace fonts I checked display correctly.

You are definitely right that this is an important inconsistency, and therefore
IMHO we should consider this issue as a bug. I see at least three explanations
for the inconsistency:

(a) LibreOffice disables the automatic use of ligatures for some monospace
fonts (Courier New), but not for other ones, so the detection of
monospace fonts (an algorithm? a whitelist?) is incomplete.
(b) The automatic use of ligatures depends on the font (file) type,
i.e. TTF, OTF, Mac-TrueType, dfont ... This is a possible reason,
because Courier and Monaco are Mac TrueType/.dfont fonts (depending
on your MacOS X version), but Courier New is a .ttf font.
(c) A complicated interaction of (a) and (b).

Examinating a simple sample file I have created, I see indicia for both (a) and
(b), so maybe (c) is the right answer.

But luckily we don’t need to investigate further into this issue, because my
sample file also gives me the impression that this issue is fixed in between:
LibreOffice 3.6.1.1 on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel) handles all monospaced fonts I
have tried consistently, i.e. disables the use of ligatures everywhere,
including text in Courier and Monaco.

I will attach a screenshot of my sample file proofing this result.

So my impression is that this issue was fixed (maybe by the way with some other
improvement) in between. Therefore I change the status of this bug report to
RESOLVED/WORKSFORME -- which is IMHO much more satisfying than RESOLVED/INVALID
;-).

if i create an external link to a source file and move/copy the linked file
(not the source file) to another folder, the link breaks.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create two empty ods-files on your desktop, for example call them
test_link.ods and test_source.ods

2. now open both and create an external link in test_link referencing to
test_source with =...; the result in your cell should be something like
='file:///home/USERNAME/Desktop/test_source.ods'#$Sheet1.A1

3. now close both files, and move (or copy) your test_link.ods to another
folder (e.g. folder "test" on your desktop)

4. now open the "test_link" file in its new location and when asked to update,
click "yes".

5 message that link is broken, because the reference does not exist;

This matters if you create a template file with external links and save a new
file based on this template somewhere else.

I think your database was too small for the problem to arise. You won't have
much to filter with only two rows. I tested it with the built-in Bibliography
database in the latest 3.6.1 release (I can't tell if it's RC1 or RC2), and
THAT one worked . . . but again, it's a smaller database and it's not an
external database that has been registered. I will do further testing with the
3.6.1 release candidate when I am at my office and have access to my real
databases.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38062] Load each document in the last position and size used by that specific document

> But it was. At least partially. See Bug 34515

Bug 34515 is about the position last viewed _inside_ a user's document.

This bug is about preserving the position of the window on the user's screen,
for each individual document. This requires saving the window position by
document.

What currently happens is the position the document window of the last document
saved of a particular _type_ (calc, writer, etc) is preserved for _all_
documents of that type.

Same for me and my mother - she does her job at LO and the last thing
she needs is permanent change in behaviour of her working tools. Things
like this new blinking blue thing, changes in layouts and keyboard shortcuts
force people to explore the news, mostly find a way how to get it into state
they are used to instead of using the tool. That's pretty annoying and
spread wide across the operating systems, text editors, graphical editors -
and most of other software.

Problem: Making a Pivot Table from Datasource Query gives wrong result. BUT
using the _same_ data_ from the spreadsheet works correclly.

How to reproduce:
1. Use Datasource from Base Query or use the rpovided file and Query
2012-Analysis-Query"
2. Make the Pivot Table using that query with Columns "Month", Row "Activity"
and Data field "Time"
3. Import the same data to a spreadsheet, select and make the same Pivot Table.

the results are different and the Pivot TAble from the Data source is wrong!

See the attached screenshot for all details!
