Cedric, thank you.
LibO-3.6.1.1 is in need of your patch too. Release contains previous fixes TOC
(bug 52610). I hope that in LibO-3.6.1rc2 problem would be closed.

Thanks for explanation why it so important on MacOS X. Other os uses Alt-Tab
for switching applications. And users encounter no problems. But MacOS X uses
Ctrl-Tab. And this results in problems for users.

I have deleted the file HOWEVER, since then, I found that the page is
referenced in the readme in the installer packages. The readme that I have for
linux rpm is also partly outdated and references to the LibreOffice 3.3.

I believe what is happening is that the Windows/Linux/Apple readme's first few
lines (in the content) are being relabelled with the newer version numbers, but
the actual content as a whole has not been reviewed in a while (not since v.3.3
!!!).

I think all of the installer package readme's should be re-checked and updated
after which we could republish the readme page on the site BUT I would prefer
organizing it in a more rational page with redirection links to subpages
(Windows-Apple-Linux) organized in a similar way as the download page
[http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?nodetect].

I believe the original readme's were under the care of the documentation team.
Does anybody know?

BTW ... the readme page was in the SilverStripe tree under "Thanks".

Cheers,

Marc

--- Comment #10 from Rainer Bielefeld
2012-08-20 05:36:17 UTC ---
To be honest, I do not know how how that Numbering should wor, but definitively
the document should look identical the the view before saving (after 'Update
all') when I reopen it

Here I see:
1. Open reporter's "2End of step 6 state document"
2. Select word "Intro"
3.
   > Styles Pane appears, "Heading" selected
4. In Styles Pane 'right click "Heading" -> Modify -> Outline & Numbering -
   Outline - Level-> "Level 1"
5. Menu 'Tools -> Update -> All'
As Expected, Headings "Intro" and "1 Chap" are visible as Headings and in
   TOC
6. Save under new name, close, Reopen
Expected: Headings "Intro" and "1 Chap" are visible as Headings and in TOC
Actual: Most as expected, but heading "1 Chap" now shown as "Chap"
(But still "1 Chap" in TOC)

Unexpected VIEWING has nothing to do with FILESAVE or FILESAVE. Instead of
Step 6 you can do
6a: to select all
7. for copy
8. Menu 'File -> New -> Writer document'
   > New blank Document appears
9. Click into new document
10. for paste
Expected: looks as in Step 6 before close with heading "1 Chap"
Actual: looks as in Step 6 after reopen with heading "Chap"

My suspect is that the buggy behavior here only is a side effect of "Bug 53822
- VIEWING: Heading 1 outline numbering no longer shown after modification of
Heading outline style"

@Cyril
It is rather useless to reopen a bug what has been closed from Status NEEDINFO
without contributing new info.

I think the core problem is that the Numbering is not shown in Heading (but
correctly in TOC), for this problem I submitted

Hi, the Chinese text conversion file just locate
"core/i18npool/source/textconversion/data", stc_char.dic & stc_word.dic.

Remove "同:衕" from stc_char.dic could resolve this issue, but I don't know
how to used "衕" in Traditional Chinese, even after search in google.

It seems “衚衕“ not used by Traditional Chinese else, any advise here? thanks.

I'll check if more conversion bugs in these dic file, and submit a simple patch
to fix it.

This is a spin off of "Bug 39103 - VIEWING: (unexpected) loss of chapters
numbering not shown"

Steps how to reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.6.1.1 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
4db6344] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

1. Open Attachment 48926
2. Select word "Intro"
3.
   > Styles Pane appears, "Heading" selected
4. In Styles Pane 'right click "Heading" -> Modify -> Outline & Numbering -
   Outline - Level-> "Level 1"

   > New blank Document appears
9. Click into new document
10. for paste
Expected: looks as in source document before step 6
Actual: Heading shows only "Chap" instead of "1 Chap"
This view you also will have in source document after save -> close
   -> reopen

It seems that numbering still is active (shown in TOC), but i's not shown in
the heading.

I see the same behavior with AOOo 3.4, so this seems to be inherited from OOo.

NEW due to Bug 39103

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53412] FILEOPEN RTF: Silent fail on RTFD file open attempt

2012-08-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53412

--- Comment #4 from Matt Rosin 2012-08-20 04:31:26 UTC ---
Thank you very much for your attention to this bug.
I would like to add some notes. i find it very interesting if true, that
Windows still is unable to open rtfd! This is a significant opportunity for
LibreOffice.

1) Other embedded file types
You can also embed a PDF or other file like a mail attachment in an rtfd on the
Mac.
For example you can drag a PDF from the finder into the TextEdit window.
When saved, zipped (via Finder context menu) and then unzipped (with unzip from
Terminal unix shell) I found the PDF file to be there next to the rtf file.
A post from 2005: http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=429565

2) Formatting
The graphic in your test rtfd file is very wide so it may not be obvious, but
embedded images can be paragraph formatted (centered/right justified) too in
TextEdit and Bean. Bean allows formatting and also allows you to doubleclick
and resize an image inline (a resizing widget pops up at the cursor position).
I note this because (I have not confirmed it but) I have read that while you
can open the text.rtf file in WordPad or Word in Windows it does not preserve
formatting. A 2008 post:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1501548?start=0&tstart=0

3) Opportunity for LibreOffice.
The above linked wikipedia article and other posts I have found from early
2000s says Windows cannot handle bundles, hence rtfd is not supported, so the
choice is to save as a PDF or zip it and wade through the zipped folder while
losing formatting and positional information.
It would be eminently useful to Windows users if a Mac user could send them
an rtfd (or a zipped rtfd) by email and have LibreOffice open it one Windows
and offer to save as .odf or .doc. This would make LibreOffice the answer to
the question of how to open rtfd on Windows.

4) Attachment.
FWIW I have attached a zip of an rtfd file created in Bean and zipped from the
Mac OS X Finder (via the context menu which is the standard way of doing
things). Unlike zipping from the unix shell, this creates a zip file that
includes Mac specific resources which may be confusing but LibreOffice would
have to deal with (ignore) those folders.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53821] New: EDITING: EDITING: Strange results about shape operations when combines two types of shapes

2012-08-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53821

 Bug #: 53821
Summary: EDITING: EDITING: Strange results about shape
operations when combines two types of shapes
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: naru...@gmail.com

Created attachment 65814
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65814
Calc document contains two different types of shapes.

Problem description:

This bug is related with Bug #53629.
Reported as a Calc bug, but Writer also have same problem.

We've separate the types of shapes in the bug #53629.

[Type A]
- Rectangle
- Ellipse
- Symbol Shapes

[Type B]
- Basic Shapes
- Block Allows
- Flowcharts
- Callouts
- Stars

Common preparations:

  1. Draw one Type A shape; eg. Rectangles (ShapeX) and Type B shape; eg. Basic
shapes (ShapeY).
  2. Make ShapeX laps over ShapeX. (but ShapeX is always covered by ShapeY)
(see attached ods file)

[Problem I]
3-a. Apply ShapeX "Context Menu" - "Arrange" - "Bring to Front" or "Bring
Forward"

Current behavior:
  ShapeX always under the ShapeY.
(there might be two different layer about Type A shapes and Type B shapes)

Excepted behaivor:
  ShapeX will cover ShapeY
(these two types of shapes can put any kind of order).

Additional information:
"Context Menu" - "Arrange" - "To Foreground" or "To Background" seems to work
fine.

[Problem II]
  3-b. Grouping ShapeX and ShapeY.

Current behavior:
  We can't see ShapeY.
If we save-and-close this document and reopen, or cut the group and copy, we
can see ShapeY again.

Excepted behavior:
Grouping works correctly if the group contains type A shapes and type B
shapes.

Both of two type of shapes, in "Area" properties we might see "Blue 9" as a
fill color. So "More darker blue" shapes seems to have some problem.

I've repeated **exactly** your steps, and everything is ok until step 12, after
which the formula loses italics.

My configuration differs from yours in this aspects:
  - I'm running LibreOffice 3.6.0.4 (Build ID 932b512), which I've downloaded
from the LibreOffice homepage, and I've installed the spanish language pack.
These are the md5sums of the dmg images I've downloaded:
371ef734a6dc6e13569d3f703b8ec749 LibO_3.6.0_MacOS_PPC_install_en-US.dmg
cb068c3f5b21be3751e62944335a98f3 LibO_3.6.0_MacOS_PPC_langpack_es.dmg
  - I'm running the PowerPC version of LibreOffice. Since it works ok in you
Intel machine, that makes me think about an endianness-related issue.
  - I'm running LibreOffice on Mac OS 10.4.11, what is perhaps another possible
source for this problem.

Since the formulas remain no italic after saving and opening the file again,
there must be some difference between the original formula and its copy, so I
went further and took a look inside the odt file, and this is what I got:

Contents of "Object 1/content.xml" (original formula)

http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML";>y=f(x)y =
f(x)

Contents of "Object 2/content.xml" (copied formula)

http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML";>y=f(x)y =
f(x)

You can see the mathvariant="normal" attribute in the second case, which isn't
present in the first case.

  Severity: enhancement

Hi.

Whenever I open a spreadsheet file and the only thing I do is to look at other
sheets than the active just after opening the file.

That makes Calc asking to save the file, even if no data is actually changed
(other that the avtive sheet is changed).

There should be an option somewhere that gives the user a choice to not ask for
saving the file if only active tab or active cell is changed.
But it should still be possible to manually save a spreadsheet without any
actually data is changed, when active cell/sheet is changed.

Thanks

Open it with LO and you will see only 3 pages, and not shown correctly.
If you open it with Office 2010 you will see 114 pages of text.

Tryed saving docx into doc with Office 2010 and then opening with LO, but that
didn't work.

I replaced almost all letters with X since this was contract.

Also, opening this file with LO takes ages. For .doc it took over 1 min on 4GB
ram, Win7 64bit fast machine. And then it shows only 3 inacurate pages.

Looks to me that you are trying harder and harder to turn people away from LO.
You took a simple feature which exists for who knows how many years in all
Office suites and started making nuclear fysics out of it.

I have about 300 LO users in my company and they are ALL used to enter date as
31.08 in cells which don't have date format (they have general format).

Why are you trying to remove feature which is good and force upon users feature
which is slower and worse? Where is the sense in that?

--- Comment #3 from Leif Lodahl 2012-08-19 19:30:37 UTC

Hmmm.

I must admit that I haven't spend much time on the extension lately because we
have a word count in status bar and a 'floating' word count window in
LibreOffice.

Its quite some time I created the extension. I'm using it myself almost
everyday without any problems. (Linus 32 bit).

I remember some problems with the Python framework from earlier. As I remember
it the extension MUST be installed as a user extension (not an administration
installed extension). But I don't recall all the details.

I think we should try with one or two other Python extensions for benchmarking.

The macro is launched with the following syntax:
vnd.sun.star.script:wordcount.oxt|wc|wc.py$wordCount?language=Python&location=user:uno_packages

Perhaps that syntax is outdated?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53814] New: Macros: sorting range in calc in 3.6 puts nulls ahead of filled in rows

2012-08-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53814

 Bug #: 53814
Summary: Macros: sorting range in calc in 3.6 puts nulls ahead
of filled in rows
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: BASIC
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bugzi...@mlddarts.com

Problem description: I have a selected range and when I sort descending by the
2nd column it puts the NULL cells/rows at the top or the rows that contain data
as opposed to having them at the bottom.

This is new behavior noticed in 3.6, but not 3.4.2, 3.4.4, 3.5.2, 3.5.3, nor
3.5.4

Steps to reproduce:
Here is the code snipit that I've been using successfully in multiple versions
for 1 1/2 years:

oSortFields(0).Field = 1
oSortFields(0).SortAscending = FALSE
oSortDesc(0).Name = "SortFields"
oSortDesc(0).Value = oSortFields()
oCellRange = oSheet.getCellRangeByName("c3:d8")
oCellRange.Sort(oSortDesc())

So if I have cells like this

bob 2
tim 3
brian 4
larry 1
[blank cells]
[blank cells]

Current behavior:

[blank cells]
[blank cells]
brian 4
tim 3
bob 2
larry 1

Expected behavior:

brian   4
tim     3
bob     2
larry   1
[blank cells]
[blank cells]

Julien, unfortunately the spreadsheets I have encountered the problem on are
all acquired under contract, and are highly confidential. Looking at Rainer
Bielefeld's comments on Bug #53698, I note that my spreadsheets are all highly
formatted.

I will test on other similarly large, but unformatted .xls spreadsheets and get
back to you with the results.

I think it is significant though that Gnumeric opens them with blinding speed,
much faster even than Excel does. If the Spreadsheet group knows anything
about the structure of Gnumeric, they may find a clue.

With LO 3.4.4 (Mint provided)

I can see the description of the text fields in the report when in Edit mode.

However, I can't see any of the functions that Robert mentions in his bug
report. None of the fields I have looked at Group, Article or Price, have any
associated function defined in the Data tab, or anywhere else that I can see,
for that matter.

Will test next on 3.5.5.2, then 3.6.0.4

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53723] New: EXTENSIONSWEBSITE: External Links

2012-08-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53723

 Bug #: 53723
   Summary: EXTENSIONSWEBSITE: External Links
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: WWW
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: beimaginativeegr...@gmail.com
CC: webs...@global.libreoffice.org

Problem description: When you try to visit an external link from an extension
author page, it results in a Not Found error.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to Extension Centre
2. Click on Extensions from the Menu
3. Choose an extension and load its page
4. Under the extension title there is a "By: Author" message. Click on the
Author's name and the author profile will load.
5. In the author profile, there can be a link to the author's external home
page under the profile picture. Click on it.

Current behavior: After clicking the external page URL loads but as a page
under extensions.libreoffice.org (e.g. extensions.libreoffice.org/my.test.url).
This results in a Not Found error.

Expected behavior: It should load the page normally.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0

--- Comment #8 from V Stuart Foote 2012-08-19 17:02:21

Rainer,

The preferred way to install the Java Access Bridge seems to be using Jamal
Mazrui's JWIN installer as the Oracle instructions are a bit muddled.

http://empowermentzone.com/JWin.htm

However, believe the OP's issue may not be with JAB and Java based
accessibility tools, but rather with use of Microsoft Windows provided
Magnifier features.

OP does not mention if they were using the commercial ZoomText Java Access
Bridge based interface, but their description suggests they were only using the
Windows native Magnifier.

As to cursor control of Windows Magnifier, I have to verify on an XP system,
but the Start -> Accessories -> Ease of Access -> Magnifier, Configuration -
View, Lens mode at Windows 7 (with an Aero theme active) is a windows built
in. Not a JAB extension.

At Windows 7 the "Lens" follows mouse movements in all applications. But is
also controlled by escaped cursor direction keys:

ref: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Keyboard-shortcuts

Close fdo#33995 as not a bug, and perhaps considere a "Lens" magnifier as an
enhancement of LO Accessibility Tools as Java based AT are reworked to
IAccessible2 ( fdo#39956 ).

Stuart

I was using the Help dialog while in Writer.
On the find tab, when clicking the Find button I get a message that Libreoffice
requires a runtime environment and that the selected JRE is defective.
The selected JRE is 1.7.0_05 (32-bit version) This is the version currently
recommended by Sun/Oracle.
I install JRE 6 (1.6.0)33, 32-bit) and select it in Tools / Options /
Libreoffice / Java. Now Find works fine again.
Has this been fixed in Libreoffice 3.6? That is, does Libreoffice 3.6 work with
JRE 7 (1.7)?

This is the file that can't be open

I was using the presentation program to modify a ppt file. The last thing I
did was insert a table to one of the slide. After save the file, then close
