NOT reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.6.1.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
e29a214] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit). I opened existing table with
double clicks, relevant context menu items I tested all worked without
problems. I can reproduce a message similar to Bug 53527#c8 with a vwite
protected sample document, but write protection can not be healed by db
registration?!

@reporter:
This is not a valid Bug report, important information is missing. Simply that
you use the word "open" without telling us for what (See report results or edit
report?) and how and not telling result about other possible actions (delete
table ...) makes the report incomplete. There have been many useful hints in
discussions and in Bug 53527 with plausible hypotheses concerning possible
reasons for the observed problem, of course here references are required.

Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
  (My version only is a little more precise than the former one, but not really
  exact (because the problem still is unknown, see below)
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
  problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
  into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a document related step by step instruction containing every
  key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem
  (similar to example in Bug 43431)
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
  -- Whether you have any idea what in this document might be different from
 other documents what work without problems for you.
  -- what EXACTLY is unexpected! "Can't be opened" is too tare. How are you
 trying? Double Click? Right click? Something else? What's happening?
 Error Message? Nothing? Key board explodes? ;-)
  -- Whether it's possible to create a sample document from the scratch or
 using an other document attached here in Bugzilla
  -- concerning your PC
  -- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
  -- concerning your LibO localization (UI language, Locale setting)
  –- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
  -- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document File Menu?
 Explorer? Something else
  –- Whether your problem persists when you renamed your user profile
 before you launch LibO (please see
 )
  –- Whether the document worked with other LibO Versions
  -- Whether the problem has been observed with other documents
  -- Whether the problem is reproducible with document in any folder on
PC
  -- The sample document here looks at least very similar to the one in
 "Bug 53527 - EDITING ReportBuilder Field names not shown", IMHO it's the
  same one

Dear Henrik: I think it is a duplicate of Bug 49547.
Check it: https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49547

Sadly, it seems that fix for it has not been released yet.

By "note", do you mean "comment"?

i.e. right click a cell, "Insert Comment". ?

If so, it is working for me on LO 3.6.1.1 Windows Vista 32bit.

It would help if you could attach the actual spreadsheet, *with* the notes
(before they disappeared).

Or a sample document that shows the same problem.

I tried this on LO 3.6.1.1rc Windows Vista 32bit.

After following the exact steps, LO changed to "not responding" and is still
hung after approx 10 mins.

I've tried building, but the documentation isn't clear. I asked three questions
on two talk pages in the wiki. Is there a better forum to ask for clarification
of the wiki?

Alternatively, is there another place that give build instructions?

The pages with my questions:

An ambiguous string was localized to Spanish in an incorrect way.
Selection mode "Block selection" (both in menu and status bar) was translated
as "Bloquear selección" (i.e. Lock selection), but something like "Selección
por bloque" or "Selección de bloque" should be used instead.

PS: I'm using this bug report to suggest a better translation, as I could not
find any option to use Pootle without creating a user.

i don't understand this crash. (and can't reproduce it either)

so lucene::store::FSDirectory::getDirectory can throw CLuceneError in
some places, and the std::terminate on the stack would indicate that
this exception is not caught anywhere; but it is caught in
chelp::ResultSetForQuery::ResultSetForQuery;

   try
   {
HelpSearch searcher(aLang, idxDir);
searcher.query(aNewQueryStr, bCaptionsOnly, aPathVector, aScoreVector);
   }
   catch (CLuceneError &e)
   {
SAL_WARN("xmlhelp", "CLuceneError: " << e.what());
   }

which seems to be the only existing call to HelpSearch::query.

why doesn't that work?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53984] New: To use a database/odb-file needs a registration in LibreOffice

2012-08-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53984

 Bug #: 53984
   Summary: To use a database/odb-file needs a registration in
LibreOffice
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.1.1 rc
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: d...@jochenschiffers.de

The odb-file "ReportBuilder_Textfields_without_Contentmarker.odb" (see attach
1) can´t be used without a registration in LibreOffice.
"can´t be used" means:
odb-file can be opened, but the table "Article" and/or the report "Report"
can´t be opened.

OS: Windows XP or Windows 7 64 bit

### Important information ###
After registration odb-file can be opened (logically). But:
After de-registration, i.e. removing the odb-file in Tools -> Options ->
LibreOffice Base -> Database -> Registered databases, and open the odb-file
again the odb-file works fine, i.e. the table "Article" and/or the report
"Report" can be opened.

This problem have discussed on German discuss-ML [1] and on international QA-ML
[2].
[1] http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/de/discuss/msg13382.html
[2]
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice-qa/2012-August/002360.html

Consens concerning the following question: "If a database-file (odb-file) is
opened must this database be registered in LibreOffice?"
No.

IMHO an non-registered database must not result in an error (non-usability) or
even crash/destroy data (= bug). Either this odb-file will be processed (user
friendliest solution) or it is a message that this odb-file must be registered
first (= feature).

Alex Thurgood comments:
I encountered the problem to which you are referring on Linux 64bit with
Robert's file. However, I had no such problem on Mac OSX. This was why I
registered the ODB file with LO on Linux before attempting to open it
again. This may have been particular to my setup, or the file in question.

Note that on Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Apple's file manager defaults
freshly downloaded files passed directly to an app as read-only, under
some kind of lame security policy, which forces the user to re-set the
write bit by hand or else move the file elsewhere (which seems to
automatically reset the read/write bits). However, this doesn't seem to
happen on OSX 10.8, and I can't compare with 10.7 because I didn't keep
it on my machine for very long

It may have something to do with the complexity of the document. I have
documents that have far less pages but have many paragraph and character style
changes along with many footnotes which do not work with version 3.5 or
greater. But I also have much larger documents with very few footnotes or style
changes which work fine.

Sort Writer table is en extension, see
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/sort-writer-table-1.0.0.oxt

It is 3rd party to LibreOffice, I think this bug is out of our scope.

Dan: do you reproduce this same behaviour with newer LO version (3.5.6 or
3.6.0)?
If yes, could you try with a brand new LO profile (see
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile)

My test on OpenSuSE 11.4 (x86) with LO version 3.6.0.4 (Build ID:
360m1(Build:104)):

Imported attachment 66023, then saved as odt. Result after re-opening the odt:

first formula: can edit, is displayed OK

second formula: cannot edit, is displayed with different font

third formula: just a frame with red text "Object 6" inside, cannot edit. Same
problem as my unstripped docx. Good catch, Sergey!

On pc Debian x86-64 with 3.6 sources updated yesterday (so not exactly
3.6.0.4), I don't reproduce the problem.

Robert: do you reproduce this with a brand new LO profile? (just rename the old
LO directory profile)
If yes, it could be interesting you retrieve a backtrace (see

I confirm that the same issue is present in LibreOffice V3.5.6.2 and in
V3.6.1.1.

Saving the file as xlsx and reimport it into LibO the conditional formating is
completely destroyed.

@Markus Mohrhardt: The situation in LibO 3.6 seems to be not better as before.
We run in big compatibility issues. Our IT-Team describes LibO as incompatible
crap. Today it is forbidden for us users to use LibreOffice at work!

In my own opinion: The conditional format converter needs a complete rewrite.

The slider

I've KDE 4.8.4, Debian Sid and LiBo taken from Experimental.
The new bottom status bar has the zoom slider without icons (seems that if you
blindly click over where they are supposed to be, they work even if you don't
see them) and the slider itself is just an horizontal line with two small
vertical ones, probably the "100% zoom" and the current position, that in any
case is impossible to manipulate

Exiting LO before shutdown would be a better idea ATM.

Just to be sure, you meant:
a ppt created from 3.5.4 LO crashes Powerpoint or a ppt created from Powerpoint
crashes 3.5.4 LO?
Could you attach the ppt?

 Bug #: 53976

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.1 rc
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA

AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: pawnbroker1...@gmail.com

Problem description:
I am using MS Excel files under libreOffice.
Until version 3.5 i could use VBA functionality.
In latest version, VBA doesn't work after saving the file.
Once I save the file in LO 3.5 and higher, it's VBA blocks.
If I use older versions, everything is fine.

 Is it made deliberately or it;s just a bug ?

Yes, I have had a JDBC mysql connection set up to one of my work database
servers for the last 6 or 7 years, as a backup for the native mysql connector
in case that gets broken by LO development (which it has, unfortunately, on
more than one occasion).

The parser used by LO internally is, ermmm, how can I say, "suboptimal", and
has been for a long time. It tries to be all things to all database engines,
which unfortunately is a Herculean task, and something in the end that it
doesn't do very well when it comes to what many would consider to be basic SQL
functions (for that user's respective database). Add to that the fact that
sometimes the db engines or their drivers do not always tell LO the truth about
their own capabilities (over/understated), and you have a recipe for disaster,
or at least, many "gotchas", which only can be avoided by direct SQL
processing.

So, I'm going to close this bug as invalid, since it appears to me that this is
a limitation of the parser and not a buggy piece of code. If you want to open
up a request for enhancement bug relating to support in the parser for
"advanced mysql functions", please go ahead, it'll be another one added to the
pile ;-)

Screenshots

Stepsm how to reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.6.1.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
e29a214] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

1. open WRITER document
2. If necessary in menu 'Tools -> Options -> LibO -> Viewing -> Symbol Size'
   change to "Big -> Tango"
3. Create new toolbar, add Some Macro functions and replace Macro names by
   Icons like you see in Screenshots
4. in menu 'Tools -> Options -> LibO -> Viewing -> Symbol Size'
   change to "Small"
   Expected: Smaller Icons
   Actual: some icons change to text

This one might be related to "Bug 38305 - Symbols in status bar do not follow
new Theme in opened document"

This was already visible in late 3.5 Versions, I do not know where that started

So, this is nothing about basegfx, but batshit-insane bounds for the rulers,
and subsequently ages to paint them into some virdev.

For the ruler rect, I e.g. get
Size = {
  width = 0x12,
  height = 0x9acf351
}

Kinda needs to be fixed at reportdesign level - I already get ridiculous values
in rptui::OViewsWindow::resize.
