This has been an issue since February 2012 and version 3.4.5. It is now mid
September 2012 and version 3.6.1.2 and this problem STILL EXISTS!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54528] MinGW: Windows Explorer crash after LO 3.6.1 installation

2012-09-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54528

--- Comment #4 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-09-20 05:48:00 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #3)
Perhaps a duplicate of bug 53588.

Well, the original reporter speaks about a repeated crash (not just a blocking)
of Windows Explorer. This reminds me heavily about:
* Bug 52078 - “shlxthdl_x64.dll/shlxthdl.dll causes Windows Explorer to CRASH
repeatedly when Flat ODF file is in view“
* Bug 53533 - “shlxthdl_x64.dll/shlxthdl.dll causes Windows Explorer to CRASH
when corrupted ODF file is in view”

But bug 52078 should be already fixed in LibO 3.6.1, so bug 53533 seems more
probable.

@ Andreas Koelz:
Do you have any .odt (or .fodt) files on your desktop, or in the QuickStarter,
or whereever they come into view as soon as you log in “as windows user”? Then
this would be definitely the same issue as in one of the both reports mentioned
above. If this could be the case, there are two solutions:

1) You need to remove the problematic files from your desktop, QuickStarter,
etc. A Windows expert (I am no one) will tell you how to accomplish this
*withouth* viewing these files (if you view them in the Explorer, it will just
crash again); probably by logging in as admin and then deleting/moving the
files via terminal/shell/command line commands ...

2) LibreOffice 3.6.2 will solve also the remaining issue, bug 53533; a first
release candidate is available from
  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/
and works reasonably well; so you can also try to update directly to that
version and see if it solves your problem.

Let us please know if any of these actions helped you! Thank you!

Already reproducible with LibreOffice 3.3.0 (OOO330m19, Build:6, tag
libreoffice-3.3.0.4), given that Cinch is running.

Probably inherited from OOo 3.2, because also reproducible with
ApacheOpenOffice (AOO) 3.4.0 (AOO340m1, Build:9590 - Rev. 1327774).

When I enter percentage numbers in Calc (in French), I don't see this. E.g.
when I enter 25%, it is not autocorrected, and I get 25% in the cell. When I
enter 25 %, it is autocorrected and I see 25% in the cell. When I copy
250xA0% from Writer to a Calc cell, it is treated as text in Calc.

So, please explain what you did, what you expected and what happened. Thanks!

 Checking Version 3.6.3.0+ (Build ID: bcc65a9) ...

You should probably (also) check version 3.7.0.0alpha0, available from

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/MacOSX-Intel@1-built_no-moz_on_10.6.8/master/current/

When Marcus wrote “If not it might be that I don't see the error because I
already fixed it and just forgot to backport the fix to 3-6.”, this means that
there could be already a fix for this in master = 3.7.0.0, but not in the 3.6
branch, and the version 3.6.3.0+ is just a daily build of the 3.6 branch.

Really, I did nothing special. This happens with both 3.5.6.2 and 3.6beta1 with
a clean config. Just typing 25% results in 25[nbsp]%, and as you said it's
detected as text, not numbers. What version did you test this with? Do you see
the same with Writer?

The behavior I'm seeing is expected as it's the correct spacing in French. As I
said, this was an improvement introduced by Bug 41015.

Mac Accessibility Related Bugs Survey Results
-

All tests done on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel), with Cinch running to provoke
the accessibility-related bugs.

Two issues tested:

I) Changing border format of a table in Writer (comment #0 here)

1) Rename User Profile folder (~/Library/Application Support/LOdev/)
to preclude any influence of local settings on the test results.
2) Start LibreOffice/LOdev
   - Start Center window appears
3) In Start Center window, click on (new) Text document
   - New (empty) Writer file opens.
4) Select Table Insert Table... from the menu.
   - Dialog window Insert Table appears.
5) Don't change the default settings (Name: Table1, Columns: 2, Rows: 2),
   just click OK.
   - A new 2x2 cells table with thin black border (default values)
  is inserted into the document.
   - The Cursor is already in the 1st table cell.
6) Select Table Table Properties... from the menu.
   - The Table format dialog appears.
7) Switch to Borders tab.
8) From the Color popup menu (current value: Black, the default),
   select Red.
OR
Into the Width edit field, enter 1.
OR
From the Style popup menu, select the 1st dashed/dotted entry.
(The resulting crash log and stack trace is exactly the same,
it does not matter which of the 3 changes mentioned above I make!)
9) Click OK.
   - LibreOffice/LOdev crashes with the crash log attached.

II) Adding a border to a cell in Calc (bug 49623, bug 51791)

0) Rename your LibO user profile folder, to make sure that
there is no influence of any special settings on the test
(I always do so before such tests).
1) Start LibreOffice;
   - the Start Center window appears.
2) In the Start Center window, click Spreadsheet;
   - a new spreadsheet document is created,
   cell A1 is already selected.
3) Select Format  Cells... from the menu;
   - the Format Cells dialog window appears.
4) Select the tab Borders.
5) At top left, under Line Arrangement / Default,
   select the second item (Set all four borders);
   - the border preview below changes.
6) Click OK.
   - LibreOffice crashes.

Both issues (I) and (II) are closely related and generate more or less
identical stack traces.

Test results: Good news!

Using the steps given above for both issues, the crash is REPRODUCIBLE (given
that Cinch is running) with:
* ApacheOpenOffice (AOO) 3.4.0 (AOO340m1, Build:9590) - Rev. 1327774
* LibreOffice 3.3.0, OOO330m19 (Build:6), tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4
* LibreOffice 3.4.0, OOO340m1 (Build:12)
* LibreOffice 3.4.6, OOO340m1 (Build:602)
* LibreOffice 3.5.6.2, Build ID: e0fbe70-dcba98b-297ab39-994e618-0f858f0
* LibreOffice 3.6.0.4, Build ID: 932b512

But the crash is NOT reproducible anymore with the current pre-release:
* LibreOffice 3.6.2.1 (Build ID: ba822cc), with German langpack installed

Analysis

Some more fine-tuned testing shows that, using these steps given above for both
issues, the crash is still REPRODUCIBLE with
* LibreOffice 3.6 daily (3.6.2.0+), Build ID: cfbfa26,
Pull time: 2012-09-07 10:35:10, German langpack installed
* LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+, Build ID: 5ca197c,
Pull time: 2012-09-06 07:07:33, US English langpack installed

But the crash is NO longer reproducible with
* LibreOffice 3.6 daily (3.6.2.0+), Build ID: c303961,
Pull time: 2012-09-11 08:49:57, German langpack installed
* LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+, Build ID: 2df0884,
Pull time: 2012-09-11 01:28:39, US English langpack installed

This indicates that this bug was fixed by Tor Lillqvist’s patch for bug 47368:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=9b9d45e35103e6884e0a87c35c07c74899f40614

This means in turn that this bug is more or less a duplicate of bug
47368, which was fixed by the commit cited above.

How to mark this bug?
.

So normally I should mark this bug again as a duplicate of bug 47368. But
because the stack traces look different, so that the present bug appears as a
bug on its own, and because bug 47368 is already horribly long and splattered
with duplicates, I propose to do something unusual in this case, just to make
the complicated issues related to Mac accessibility features a bit clearer:

I propose to mark this bug as RESOLVED/FIXED (instead of RESOLVED/DUPLICATE or
RESOLVED/WORKSFORME),

(In reply to comment #3)
@Thorsten: Could you maybe try this once with memcheck on Mac. Maybe a
  memory
v-table problem when the called virtual method is no longer accessible
  because
the destructor has been called already.

 @Thorsten:
If you do this -- which would be very much appreciated! --, please report the
results in bug 49942, which is almost certainly the same issue (cf. the stack
 traces). Thank you very much!

Good news -- this is no longer necessary!

Bug 49942 was fixed by Tor’s patch for bug 47368, too, and therefore is no
longer reproducible in LibO = 3.6.2.1. So you don’t need to do any memcheck
for this issue.

But there are probably other issues when LibreOffice is used while Cinch is
running (or some other window management utilities). I will take the liberty to
inform you about them ;-)

@phartzsch:

(In reply to comment #7)
how do you proceed now? Will this bug be fixed or have I try to
deactivate/deinstall Cinch on my Mac OS X when run LO? Do you know an
 alternative to Cinch?

Please see my survey results in bug 49942:
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49942#c15

In short words, you can upgrade to LibreOffice 3.6.2 (a pre-relase is already
available from
  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/
) and this bug will be gone.

But, as I state at the end of my comment, there is at least one issue with
Cinch and LibreOffice which is still reproducible (I will do some further
testing). So, if you do not need Cinch very much, it may be save to deactivate
it, at least temporarily, when you are working mainly with LibreOffice for some
hours.

About alternatives to Cinch -- I am not an expert here, but the problem is that
other Mac window management utilities like Moom, RightZoom, BetterSnapTool etc.
all use Apple’s accessibility features, too, just like Cinch, so that they
suffer from the same stability issues as Cinch. At the moment, I hope we have
fixed the most important of these issues now, but I can not guarantee that
there are not left some more ... :-(

So, if you really like Cinch, just stay with it and report any crashes/hangs
you still experience with LibreOffice while running Cinch -- it would help us
very very much if for each such crash/hang you would immediately test if you
can reproduce it without Cinch, too (then this is probably a normal LibreOffice
bug), or only with Cinch running (then this bug would be related to Cinch/Mac
accessibility features, so please inform me about this bug by adding my
address: b...@eikota.de to the CC list of the bug report).

Thank you very much!

LibreOffice 3.6.1.2 (Final) Russian UI/Locale Build-ID: e29a214 on Russian
Windows XP Professional SP3 (32bit)

We have htm file with sections: File, Edit, Folder, View, Extras, DOS Prompt
(if we open it in browser, for example, in Google Chrome).
If we try to open file in LibO Writer then we see only two sections File and
Edit (information in Edit section is incomplete), other sections are missed.

The same problem occurs in Apache Open Office Writer 3.4.1 (Final)

If we even try to open that file in Calc (from LibO or AOO) then we see all
information.

Right, the stack trace shows that this is still the same issue. But that is no
surprise: LibreOffice 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214) still contains the bug, as
said above, only 3.6.2.1 (Build ID: ba822cc) contains the fix (please note the
little change of the last two figures of the version number ;-). This should
make the difference, so please test once again (sorry!) with 3.6.2.1, available

Hi Joel,

Now my concernI think this sets a terrible precedent, someone offers cash
and even though it was declined, a patch is made right away. Might something
we need to discuss going forward :)

Not sure I think it's a terrible precedent; it's just a micro-payments version
of what larger consultancies are doing I think; of course bugzilla is not a
terribly elegant tool for that - but lets discuss at the ESC later.

ATB,

Michael.

2. add text to first-row cells
3. set first row as header (menu WINDOW / FREEZE)
4. insert comment in first row cell
5. hover over comment cell or show comment with right clic
6. the freeze line (my wording) is visible in the comment text, which should
not be in my view. at least in MS Excel it is not, for good reason.

screenshot comment text

if i set the first ROW of my worksheet as header line (menu WINDOW / FREEZE),
comment text in first row cell becomes invisible if larger than comment window

Steps to reproduce:
1. open empty spreadsheet
2. define first row as header row (menu WINDOW / FREEZE)
3. insert comment in first row cell (right click insert comment)
4. write some comment text that is longer than the comment window, the part of
the text that is longer will not break to second comment line but becomes
invsible.

This only happens when the first row is frozen (menu WINDOW / FREEZE)

  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)

The svg file that I tried to set as background image

When I set a slide's background image to an svg graphic, it always displays a
white border at the bottom and right. This is especially obvious in
presentation mode.

I prepared the svg file in Inkscape and increased the graphic elements over the
svg's width/height dimensions.
The issue occured with all different setups that I tried in Impress in
context-click → slide → page setup:
- stretch to entire page
- tile + relative size + width 100%, height 100%
- tile + absolute size + width and height identical to page size (28cm, 21cm)

It does not occur if I use:
- a raster image stretched to the entire page
- a plain color

could cause this problem there.

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal

 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: m_di...@web.de

Problem description:
In a German version of LO 3.5.4.2 (in Ubuntu, same in Mac OSX), I write text in
English. All of the text is underlined due to the German language spelling
check. I go to Extras-Language-For the whole text and nothing happens.
Shouldn't there be a selection menu?

Alternatively, if I select the text, right-click on it and chose For the whole
text nothing happens as well.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert text in a foreign language.
2. Click on the menu Extras-Language-For the whole text
3. nothing happens, no menu

Current behavior:
the only chance to change the language that is working is to select a
misspelled word, right click on it and go Language-for the selection or
Language-for the whole paragraph. But with texts with a lot of paragraphs,
this is not ergonomic.

Expected behavior:
Language should be changeable for the whole text

Platform (if different from the browser): Ubuntu 12.04, same under Mac OS 10.5

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/15.0.1

 2. Opened LibreOffice Language Pack.app in the mounted .dmg language pack

 Nothing seemed to happen.
 3. Opened LibreOffice Language Pack.app in the terminal. It's icon began to
 pop
in the dock. After some time the icon disappeared.

So the langpack installer still did not work in the normal way.

Screenshot error message

Hi,

I installed LibreOffice 3.6.1.2 on a Windows XP SP3 PC. This PC has been cloned
in 2 of our classrooms. The roaming profiles of the users have been cleaned. I
do a lot of redirections of the roaming profiles to a mounted networkdisk
labled H:\

Environment variable
APPDATA=\\ServerName\home$\teachers\INFOTEACHERS\TeacherName\appdata
or
APPDATA=\\ServerName\home$\students\class\StudentName\appdata

Now after the first startup I have the following error message:

Unhandeled exception:
cannot open directory
file://ServerName/home/teachers/INFOTEACHERS/TeacherName/appdata/LibreOffice/3/user/uno_packages/cache/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.bundle.PackageRegistryBackend/registry

Fact is that the home file service is called home$. The $ is missing in the
error message saying that home does not exist (this is correct it does not
exist as on the server it is called home$). Is there a filtering which removes
the $ from a string.

Now i have a solution in changing the bootstrap.ini file (on all PC's)
Old bootstrap.ini

(In reply to comment #1)
Reproduced on LibreOffice 3.4 340m1(Build:103) for OpenSuse Linux.

This means that the Platform can not be just “Mac OS”, therefore I change it to
“All” as appropriate (even if this bug was not reproducible on Windows, we need
to use “All” if more than one Platform is affected).

Bug was never confirmed by an independent reviewer, therefore reset Status to
UNCONFIRMED.

(No offence -- this does not mean that I doubt the existence of this bug --
when status is UNCONFIRMED, the chance is even better that a bugwrangler will
try to reproduce this issue or search for duplicates, while with Status NEW the
bug will probably just be overlooked.)

Also reset the Version field to 3.3.2. Please note that the Version field
should always contain the FIRST version in which a bug is known to exist, NOT
the last one, therefore please do NOT “update” the Version field.

Hello John Miller,

LibreOffice 3.6 has changed the default behaviour in this area. If the format
of a cell is NOT specified as date, LibreOffice is now much more hesitant about
recognizing and autoformatting numbers as dates etc.

I do not know for sure if the same also applies to the handling of pasted
tab-delimited text, but could you please check yourself if LibreOffice 3.6.x
(available from http://www.libreoffice.org/) has “fulfilled” your enhancement
request at least partially?

Thank you very much!

(Changed the Platform field from “Mac OS” to “All”, because this request
obviously applies to all platforms.)

arbitrary text, including long words (to make effect more obvious).
2. Format the paragraph as justified
3. Add some more text in this paragraph with preferably long words.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55143] New: FILESAVE: LibreOffice corrupting complex documents involving html tags

2012-09-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55143

 Bug #: 55143
Summary: FILESAVE: LibreOffice corrupting complex documents
involving html tags
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.0 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: drt...@yahoo.com

Problem description:
Occasionally corrupted documents, missing text

Steps to reproduce:
1. Edit document that includes html tags or bookmarks
2. Save
3. Return to document

In one case, added some hyperlinks to .docx. One of the hyperlinks was
malformed by LibreOffice (it was correct when I entered it). LibreOffice did
not tell me there was a problem. Saved, closed, left it alone, came back.
When I tried to move it elsewhere (without opening), OpenSuse told me that
there was malformed html in the file and wouldn't do it. When it opened it,
the file cut off in the middle of one of the new html tags. LibreOffice
returns no errors, just cuts it off. It actually eliminated all of the tag
except the final bookmark part of the html page, #Bookmark. MS Word refuses to
open the file and returns the message The name in the end tag of the element
must match the element type in the start tag Location: Part:
/word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column:7625 It's a small file now, so it looks
like LibreOffice just chopped off the 2d half of it, which I will say is very
frustrating.

In the other case, in a complex .odt document using bookmarks, I pasted a
block of encrypted text into the document and when I returned to the document
after a save/reopen, the text was cut off halfway through (not good). The rest
of the document afterward continued after a page break. So I did it again,
pasted in a new block of encrypted text under the last and deleted the partial
block of text and lo, the missing text reappeared after deleting the first
half! It was in the document but LibreOffice was failing to display it (and I
had tried to manually move the cursor through it earlier to see if it was
hidden but no luck). Very bad.

Current behavior:

In complex documents, I see now that I never can tell if LibreOffice saved the
document correctly. When I reopen, a decent chance something is corrupted or
missing.

Expected behavior:

When I save a document, and the document does not return errors during the
save, all of the features and text should be saved and not corrupted. Even if
they are not later available in Word (which I understand has some compatibility
issues) the document should be readable in LibreOffice.

Reproduced problem with table in header
Step to reproduce:
0. Open attached doc, select table in header, right hand mouse
click-Table-first tab Table, field spacing left. There is value -0.16 cm.
1. File-Save
2. File-Reload
3. Now see field, mentioned in step 0. There already -0.17 cm.
4. Repeat steps 1,2. Now there -0.18 cm. And so on

Reproduced in 3.6.1 on Fedora 64 bit
Resembles Bug 45536 and Bug 43170

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55143] FILESAVE: LibreOffice corrupting complex documents involving html tags

2012-09-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55143

--- Comment #1 from Doug drt...@yahoo.com 2012-09-20 13:12:14 UTC ---
Created attachment 67436
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=67436
This is a re-enactment of the document contents that resulted in corruption of
.docx.

This file was created on Windows/LibreOffice 3.6.0.4. The original text was:

This is the beginning of the document. Rule 8.4 of the Rules of Professional
Conduct. This is the rest of the document.

The Rule 8.4 of the Rules of Professional Conduct has the following link:

http://www.mass.gov/obcbbo/rpc8.htm#Rule 8.4

You can see the result in OpenOffice XML is that it just breaks the file
without warning, rendering it unusable and corrupting the subsequent text.
This sequence saved correctly in .doc and .odt.

(In reply to comment #1)
It annoys me a lot also, this is a regression, 3.5.x works fine, 3.6.0 or
 3.6.1
 or 3.6.2rc1 not.

Therefore added keyword “regression”.

(In reply to comment #3)
Just to add that I've verified it on Debian GNU/Linux (the one used on the
attached video) and Windows as well

So this is not a Mac-specific problem, but Platform = “All”?!
