[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54528] MinGW: Windows Explorer crash after LO 3.6.1 installation
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54528 --- Comment #4 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-09-20 05:48:00 UTC --- (In reply to comment #3) Perhaps a duplicate of bug 53588. Well, the original reporter speaks about a repeated crash (not just a blocking) of Windows Explorer. This reminds me heavily about: * Bug 52078 - “shlxthdl_x64.dll/shlxthdl.dll causes Windows Explorer to CRASH repeatedly when Flat ODF file is in view“ * Bug 53533 - “shlxthdl_x64.dll/shlxthdl.dll causes Windows Explorer to CRASH when corrupted ODF file is in view” But bug 52078 should be already fixed in LibO 3.6.1, so bug 53533 seems more probable. @ Andreas Koelz: Do you have any .odt (or .fodt) files on your desktop, or in the QuickStarter, or whereever they come into view as soon as you log in “as windows user”? Then this would be definitely the same issue as in one of the both reports mentioned above. If this could be the case, there are two solutions: 1) You need to remove the problematic files from your desktop, QuickStarter, etc. A Windows expert (I am no one) will tell you how to accomplish this *withouth* viewing these files (if you view them in the Explorer, it will just crash again); probably by logging in as admin and then deleting/moving the files via terminal/shell/command line commands ... 2) LibreOffice 3.6.2 will solve also the remaining issue, bug 53533; a first release candidate is available from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ and works reasonably well; so you can also try to update directly to that version and see if it solves your problem. Two issues tested: I) Changing border format of a table in Writer (comment #0 here) 1) Rename User Profile folder (~/Library/Application Support/LOdev/) to preclude any influence of local settings on the test results. 2) Start LibreOffice/LOdev - Start Center window appears 3) In Start Center window, click on (new) Text document - New (empty) Writer file opens. 4) Select Table Insert Table... from the menu. - Dialog window Insert Table appears. 5) Don't change the default settings (Name: Table1, Columns: 2, Rows: 2), just click OK. - A new 2x2 cells table with thin black border (default values) is inserted into the document. - The Cursor is already in the 1st table cell. 6) Select Table Table Properties... from the menu. - The Table format dialog appears. 7) Switch to Borders tab. 8) From the Color popup menu (current value: Black, the default), select Red. OR Into the Width edit field, enter 1. OR From the Style popup menu, select the 1st dashed/dotted entry. (The resulting crash log and stack trace is exactly the same, it does not matter which of the 3 changes mentioned above I make!) 9) Click OK. - LibreOffice/LOdev crashes with the crash log attached. II) Adding a border to a cell in Calc (bug 49623, bug 51791) 0) Rename your LibO user profile folder, to make sure that there is no influence of any special settings on the test (I always do so before such tests). 1) Start LibreOffice; - the Start Center window appears. 2) In the Start Center window, click Spreadsheet; - a new spreadsheet document is created, cell A1 is already selected. 3) Select Format Cells... from the menu; - the Format Cells dialog window appears. 4) Select the tab Borders. 5) At top left, under Line Arrangement / Default, select the second item (Set all four borders); - the border preview below changes. 6) Click OK. - LibreOffice crashes. Both issues (I) and (II) are closely related and generate more or less identical stack traces. Test results: Good news! Using the steps given above for both issues, the crash is REPRODUCIBLE (given that Cinch is running) with: * ApacheOpenOffice (AOO) 3.4.0 (AOO340m1, Build:9590) - Rev. 1327774 * LibreOffice 3.3.0, OOO330m19 (Build:6), tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4 * LibreOffice 3.4.0, OOO340m1 (Build:12) * LibreOffice 3.4.6, OOO340m1 (Build:602) * LibreOffice 3.5.6.2, Build ID: e0fbe70-dcba98b-297ab39-994e618-0f858f0 * LibreOffice 3.6.0.4, Build ID: 932b512 But the crash is NOT reproducible anymore with the current pre-release: * LibreOffice 3.6.2.1 (Build ID: ba822cc), with German langpack installed Analysis Some more fine-tuned testing shows that, using these steps given above for both issues, the crash is still REPRODUCIBLE with * LibreOffice 3.6 daily (3.6.2.0+), Build ID: cfbfa26, Pull time: 2012-09-07 10:35:10, German langpack installed * LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+, Build ID: 5ca197c, Pull time: 2012-09-06 07:07:33, US English langpack installed But the crash is NO longer reproducible with * LibreOffice 3.6 daily (3.6.2.0+), Build ID: c303961, Pull time: 2012-09-11 08:49:57, German langpack installed * LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+, Build ID: 2df0884, Pull time: 2012-09-11 01:28:39, US English langpack installed This indicates that this bug was fixed by Tor Lillqvist’s patch for bug 47368: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=9b9d45e35103e6884e0a87c35c07c74899f40614 This means in turn that this bug is more or less a duplicate of bug 47368, which was fixed by the commit cited above. How to mark this bug? . So normally I should mark this bug again as a duplicate of bug 47368. But because the stack traces look different, so that the present bug appears as a bug on its own, and because bug 47368 is already horribly long and splattered with duplicates, I propose to do something unusual in this case, just to make the complicated issues related to Mac accessibility features a bit clearer: I propose to mark this bug as RESOLVED/FIXED (instead of RESOLVED/DUPLICATE or RESOLVED/WORKSFORME),

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49623] CRASH by adding borders to cells when Cinch is running
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49623 --- Comment #9 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-09-20 08:31:54 UTC --- @phartzsch: (In reply to comment #7) how do you proceed now? Will this bug be fixed or have I try to deactivate/deinstall Cinch on my Mac OS X when run LO? Do you know an alternative to Cinch? Please see my survey results in bug 49942: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49942#c15 In short words, you can upgrade to LibreOffice 3.6.2 (a pre-relase is already available from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ ) and this bug will be gone. But, as I state at the end of my comment, there is at least one issue with Cinch and LibreOffice which is still reproducible (I will do some further testing). So, if you do not need Cinch very much, it may be save to deactivate it, at least temporarily, when you are working mainly with LibreOffice for some hours. About alternatives to Cinch -- I am not an expert here, but the problem is that other Mac window management utilities like Moom, RightZoom, BetterSnapTool etc. all use Apple’s accessibility features, too, just like Cinch, so that they suffer from the same stability issues as Cinch. At the moment, I hope we have fixed the most important of these issues now, but I can not guarantee that there are not left some more ... :-( So, if you really like Cinch, just stay with it and report any crashes/hangs you still experience with LibreOffice while running Cinch -- it would help us very very much if for each such crash/hang you would immediately test if you can reproduce it without Cinch, too (then this is probably a normal LibreOffice bug), or only with Cinch running (then this bug would be related to Cinch/Mac accessibility features, so please inform me about this bug by adding my address: b...@eikota.de to the CC list of the bug report). Thank you very much! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55137] New: EDITING: Selection of language for text is not working

All of the text is underlined due to the German language spelling check. I go to Extras-Language-For the whole text and nothing happens. Shouldn't there be a selection menu? Alternatively, if I select the text, right-click on it and chose For the whole text nothing happens as well. Steps to reproduce: 1. Insert text in a foreign language. 2. Click on the menu Extras-Language-For the whole text 3. nothing happens, no menu Current behavior: the only chance to change the language that is working is to select a misspelled word, right click on it and go Language-for the selection or Language-for the whole paragraph. But with texts with a lot of paragraphs, this is not ergonomic. Expected behavior: Language should be changeable for the whole text Platform (if different from the browser): Ubuntu 12.04, same under Mac OS 10.5 Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55143] New: FILESAVE: LibreOffice corrupting complex documents involving html tags
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55143 Bug #: 55143 Summary: FILESAVE: LibreOffice corrupting complex documents involving html tags Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.5.0 release Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Status Whiteboard: BSA Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: drt...@yahoo.com Problem description: Occasionally corrupted documents, missing text Steps to reproduce: 1. Edit document that includes html tags or bookmarks 2. Save 3. Return to document In one case, added some hyperlinks to .docx. One of the hyperlinks was malformed by LibreOffice (it was correct when I entered it). LibreOffice did not tell me there was a problem. Saved, closed, left it alone, came back. When I tried to move it elsewhere (without opening), OpenSuse told me that there was malformed html in the file and wouldn't do it. When it opened it, the file cut off in the middle of one of the new html tags. LibreOffice returns no errors, just cuts it off. It actually eliminated all of the tag except the final bookmark part of the html page, #Bookmark. MS Word refuses to open the file and returns the message The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column:7625 It's a small file now, so it looks like LibreOffice just chopped off the 2d half of it, which I will say is very frustrating. In the other case, in a complex .odt document using bookmarks, I pasted a block of encrypted text into the document and when I returned to the document after a save/reopen, the text was cut off halfway through (not good). The rest of the document afterward continued after a page break. So I did it again, pasted in a new block of encrypted text under the last and deleted the partial block of text and lo, the missing text reappeared after deleting the first half! It was in the document but LibreOffice was failing to display it (and I had tried to manually move the cursor through it earlier to see if it was hidden but no luck). Very bad. Current behavior: In complex documents, I see now that I never can tell if LibreOffice saved the document correctly. When I reopen, a decent chance something is corrupted or missing. Expected behavior: When I save a document, and the document does not return errors during the save, all of the features and text should be saved and not corrupted. Even if they are not later available in Word (which I understand has some compatibility issues) the document should be readable in LibreOffice.
