Thank you very much for figuring out this! So now we know what’s going on.

What do you mean with status “Assigned”? Assigned to whom? ;-) Normally this
status is used when a bug has been approved and assigned (sic) to a developer
who is now responsible to fix it. So, if you mean “this is not a bug” or “this
is not LibreOffice’ bug”, you may want to use status RESOLVED+NOTABUG or
RESOLVED+NOTOURBUG instead.

(In parenthesis:
> As far as false positives are concerned, many of the available anti-virus
> products that actually catch most viruses, and some that don't, have
> unfortunately produced false positives in the past.

I know -- my point was that Sophos had managed to catch *itself*, which is IMHO
much worse than the ordinary (and probably unavoidable) false positives. But
you may just ignore such amusements of an overworked bugwrangler.

This issue only started occurring in August 2012. Before then documents could
open in LibreOffice.
Same problem with documents being opened from icloud.com files are downloaded
as a .doc format but do not open in LibreOffice. Instead they are scrambled
with ASCII Filter Options which wreck the entire Document.
This problem also occurs for documents being downloaded as a .xls format from
numbers on icloud.com. It does not occur with PowerPoint ppt files.

It's anormal you can't install libreoffice-dbg.
Could you quote the details of dependency problem?

Then could you try this?
- remove your LO version
- add ppa Libreoffice (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa)
- rename your LO directory profile (see
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile)
- uninstall lo-menubar if installed
- install LO from ppa + libreoffice-dbg
- try again

Could you also give java version?

So let's use a more general summary. I also see that for WRITER, DRAW impress
in the same situation, and sometimes in different situations, for Example from
Start Center
- Menu Help
- Tools -> extension Manager
- Sometimes even when Start Center appears

But I can't remember that I have seen it after a while of working. For me that
message appears early after I launched LibO or never.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55269] New: Calc AutoFilter Performance Affected by Windows 7 Settings

2012-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55269

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 55269
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Calc AutoFilter Performance Affected by Windows 7
Settings
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: preec...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.1.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

In Calc, when I perform AutoFilter on a column with large number of distinct
values (almost 30,000 values), it takes forever, in certain condition, to
generate the dropdown list.

On another machine, the dropdown list is generated in a few seconds (less than
5 seconds, which is very acceptable).

I compared the two machines found that the Windows 7 performance option named
"Use visual styles on windows and buttons" is different on the two machines.
(You can find this setting in System Properties -> Performance Options.)

With the option turned off, the AutoFilter dropdown list is generated fast.
With the option turned on, it is never generated successfully with 30,000
distinct values.

Can this be fixed?
Most Windows 7 users leave this performance option turned on by default.

Note: This problem does not occur in Windows XP even if the visual setting is
turned on.

I am running ubuntu 12.04 on a 32bit system.
The LO distribution is 3.6.1.2 build id e29a214
This was down loaded and installed from the libreoffice site. I previously used
the ubuntu version but changed because of the problem with Base.
I am unable to install libreoffice-dbg to produce a backtrace because of a
dependancy issue which implies I do not have libreoffice installed.

Editing, provided I do it with incremental saves, now seems to work but
creation always crashes

borders. The error occurs when you select border styles:

1st- several of the borders look alike there are three or four styles that look
like double underline. Theya are all identical

2nd - if you select one of the double underline styles, the border will show up
as a single bold line.

This error also occurs on writer cells.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 36324] Keeping Language for Paragraph Style (it switches with the input language of the keyboard)

2012-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36324

I can confirm this problem for my LibreOffice install on Windows 7. However, I
do not believe the same problem is present in Linux varieties, at least not on
Kubuntu.

Here's the way to test out the difference.
1. On your Windows and Linux systems, make sure you have keyboards for 2
languages in your system dock, e.g. English (USA) and French (Canada).
2. Launch LibreOffice Writer.
3. Choose your system keyboard as English from your keyboard chooser.
4. Use the LibreOffice Tools->Language->For all Text to set the document
language to English.
5. Type "Hello World. How are you?" Note that the LibreOffice status bar
indicates the current language is English (USA).
6. Use your system dock to change the language to French (Candada).
7. Type "Hello World. How are you?"
8.a. Windows: Note that the LibreOffice status bar is now reporting the current
language as French (Canada)
8.b. Linux: Note that the LibreOffice status bar is still reporting the current
language as English (USA)

I agree with Urmas that this is normally a great feature on Windows, since it
conforms with how users generally expect things to work, and it is the same
thing that MS Word does, for example.

However, I believe there should at least be an option to allow LibreOffice on
windows to operate the same way as it does on Linux. Maybe a checkbox option on
the Tools->Language->For all Text->More... dialog, something like:
x Ignore system keyboard locale

This is important on Windows for two reasons:
1. It is obviously annoying some users who use major world languages (e.g.
English, Dutch, etc.)
2. There are minority language groups that have no locale for their language
under Windows. Although they can create a keyboard that will type the
characters of their language, the keyboard still has to be created as belonging
to one of the languages that Microsoft does define. This essentially means
that, although LibreOffice will gladly display these languages in its language
lists, (see, for example, Teke-Eboo & Teke-Tyee that I asked to have added)
users under Windows can never type in these languages, because LibreOffice will
always take the system keyboard language to override the
document/paragraph/selection language.

I'm personally very interested in seeing this bug resolved. If anyone could
help point me to what files contain the code for this, I'd try to hack away at
this.

Since the bug still hasn't been confirmed by anybody else who's got access to a
debug build, I did a WinDbg session using LibO 3.6.1 without any debug symbols.

You can mark this bug as a duplicate, no problem ;-) Every user who gives some
rationale can do that.

However, I am not sure if both problems are really the same; they seem related,
of course, but at least the original description (comment #0) of both bugs, and
therefore the summaries, differ IMHO.

Ah, I have already filed a bug report for a similar problem, which may have the
same roots: Bug 49645 - “FILEOPEN particular MSWORD2008 .docx: misinterprets
letters from Symbol font”. So if I understand koledennix’ screenshot correctly,
the present bug is rather about a problem like bug 49645 than about a problem
like in bug 46716, but in formulas, not in plain text (as in bug 49645).

I do see the issue with 3.6.2.1. Marking as NEW and prioritizing.

Marking as:

Normal: As it could result in a user not being able to easily create high
quality work.

Medium: The issue might go missed by the user and result in wrong data in a
cell, something which could hurt the end user's professional quality work and
make LibO look bad.

Thanks for reporting, we'll try to get this one fixed soon

This is a good idea, however if I understand the screenshot attached by the
original reporter correctly then his problem is NOT that formulas are missing
(like in bug 46716), but that many symbols in the formulas are displayed wrong
(as other symbols, or placeholder glyphs). IIRC this is yet another, maybe
Mac-specific problem. What we need is a good sample file for this problem ...
and a better bug report with a better description, of course ;-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50856] Resizing Start Center window sometimes screws up control locations or background

2012-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon

> LION related?

The original problem -- “resizing the Start Center window sometimes screws up
control locations or background” is not limited to Lion or any other Mac OS X
version; I can reproduce it on Mac OS X 10.6.8, see my comments and
screenshots, and Fabrizio Marcotulli has reproduced it under Ubuntu (see
comment #9).

But the crash (commment #21) is a special issue, and might be very well limited
to a special OS version or other special circumstances, e.g. the use of Apple’s
“Enable access for assistive devices” or other “Universal Access” (=
accessibility) settings.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33899] Regression: Autocorrection replaces dates with fractions

2012-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33899

This is NOT a bug. It is a weird collision between Autocorrect and Data Entry.
Excel shows the same behavior but has by default not the 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 in its
auto correct table (may thats why).
What happens is:
The parser checks first its replacement table if it can correct something and
finds it and does it job fine. Second the parser tries to fit the entered
string into the number format but has trouble with the symbols and returns a
text string.

A few possible workarounds:
1) Disable autocorrect.
2) remove 1/4, 1/2 3/4 from the replacement table
3) enter date digits with leading 0

NOT reproducible with Server Installation of "LibreOffice 3.6.2.1 rc English
UI/ German Locale [Build-ID: ba822cc] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit). I
did a quick test an was able to remove some lines I wanted without probelms.
Here a more detailed instruction

1. open Spreadsheet
2. select a block of cells (several rows and columns) D6:H27
3. Menu 'Format -> Cells -> Borders'
4. in the dialog, click the Borders tab and go to the Default Settings Area
5. click the fourth icon from the left to set all outer borders and all inner
   lines and then click OK
   > All cells in selection get black borders
6. now select F10:G12
7. choose Format - Cells
8. in the dialog, click the Borders tab and go to the User Defined Area
9. choose the central vertical border 2 times so that it disappears,
   > As expected the vertical border has been removed
10. Select E15:E16
11. Menu 'Format -> Cells -> Borders'
13. click left vertical border line in "User-defined" area so that it
disappears,
Unexpected: it seems no vertical border line has been deleted at left end
of E15:E16?
14. Select D14:D17
15. Menu 'Format -> Cells -> Borders'
13. click RIGHT vertical border line in "User-defined" area so that it
disappears,
> Now you see that there is no vertical border between D15:D16 and
E15:E16. In Step 13 the left borders have been correctly, but you still

So NOTABUG. But I agree, this border management is really tricky.

Completed the fix. But since my problem which has left me without publication
rights has not yet been fixed it doesn't show publicly until someone approves

According to the OpenOffice.org Developers Guide, the width / height attributes
are optional. The width and height attributes are currently ignored by the
[local]help system.

http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/Extensions/Help_Content

The width / height attributes should not be removed from the help .xhp sources
though, because of their huge localization impact.

It is better, if WikiHelp ignores the width / height attributes, too.

Your corrupted fomulae in attachment 67658 look like my third formula in

The upside-down question marks could be related to issue 53358. Could you check
that and confirm in a comment with that bug?

Thanks in advance.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55236] New: FILESAVE: Use previously selected encoding when exporting a CSV file

2012-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55236

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 55236
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILESAVE: Use previously selected encoding when
exporting a CSV file
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: jussi.hukka...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.5.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

When a spreadsheet document is saved in CSV format, the character set
(encoding) of the file defaults to UTF-8 in Linux. The problem is that I cannot
find a way to change the default. If I need a different character set, such as
ISO-8859-1 for Windows compatibility, I have to select it from the drop-down
list every time I save an ODS file as CSV.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open an .ods file in Calc.
2. Save the file in Text (.csv) file format.

Current behavior:

The dialog with options for text file exporting always offers UTF-8 as the
character set. This default is probably platform-specific.

Expected behavior:

I would like the dialog to remember the most recently used export options. If
the defaults can be changed with a configuration option somewhere, please let
me know.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.7) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/10.0.7 Iceweasel/10.0.7
