[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55485] New: sort option left to right does sort top to bottom

2012-10-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55485

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 55485
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: sort option left to right does sort top to bottom
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: tr...@gmx.de
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.0.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

When I select the sort option from left to right, it still does sort from top
to bottom.

That's the major fault, but the sorting is a major bug and ui collection:

Bugs:
* sort options are not sticky: when you do select the same range of data
again, the former option such as Range contains column labels is not kept.

* sort now failed with the option of column labels: it did show the column
labels to select from, but it still did include the labels within the sorting,
thus moving the first row downwards

User Interface:
* the selection of sort criteria is very user unfriendly. If you want to see a
better implementation, check e.g. FileMaker: A left column with available
fields (labels), a right column to move the fields over and the option to
reorder the selected fields (labels) - either by drag'n'drop or with up/down
arrows

* the major requirement to use the pop up lists is not user friendly. It's a
poor copy of Excel, while over there you still may edit the selection by hand,
e.g. to enter both the label or identifiers such as column z

* field selection should trigger automatic sort options: when I do select the
full table, full columns or full rows, it's very probable that this selection
would include range labels. On the other hand, selection of a few cells only
probably could mean no range labels, but data only.

It is Experimental function specific bug
reproduced in 3.5.5 and 3.6.1 on Fedora 64 bit
May be users should not enable Experimental functions. But usually they
enable this option to see on new functionality and after this forget to disable
this option again.
May be LO should disable this option automatically on next start.

BTW, this is connected somehow with an option of insert text only being

Several reasons can cause this error:
1. The MSO-12.
2. The use of different assembly environments (for example, MSVCR-2008 and

 Hello

I reproduce the bug with Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: da8c1e6) Windows 7
 64bit
and your file (with-unicode-chars.ods) but not all columns: on Column A
 specially (col1)

I suspect, therefore, that the type of character is concerned.

I replaced the non-Latin characters with numbers and copied and pasted the
data for approximately 120,000 lines. With this file I do not reproduce the
 bug.

 Regards

Thanks for your response.

Hi Jean-Baptiste; thanks for communicating in a way that makes it motivating
and encouraging to read your feedback ! :-) that really helps.

Markus - any chance we can leave 9edb6ba992ad2ef092996903d775df5313613bee as it
was before ? that'd make CF-CF behave differently to CF-Manage but I guess
when people do CF-CF they expect the selection to make a difference.

Then - hopefully we can get this bug closed :-) I imagine, that's mostly just a
matter of cherry-picking 985e7e4f5017b67f2734b8885d81e32e2011e470 to -3-6 and
leaving master to evolve ? :-)

Thanks !

Thank you all for your comments.

My opinion is that when LO is released as specific binary should be provided in
a relocable folder packed with the universal tar.gz archive.

I expect to do a simply:

tar -xf LO.tar.xf
then
cd LO and
./soffice

this is the way I mean more usable
At the moment I simply expand .deb and relocate under a personal folder...it
works very well...but it's not so usable as I mean...(you need to know how to
dpkg that is platform specific, tar.gz is universal instead)

But after all, thank you for your patient to answer me,

bye

Well, I can just GUESS that clicking on the selected Item is processed before
anything else on single-click, and if the program realizes that the selected
object was hit nothing else is processed - putting the selected object back
into the correct order instead of preferred processing POSSIBLY would mean that
if one of the 8 control points, or some curve points would be clicked (in order
to move it), they could be shadowed by objects above them so you would be
stymied.
Maybe clicks onto the main body could be processed by splitting the
modify-selected routine
I will try to find it, but cant say anything safe before.
By the way, the NEWER attachment cannot be opened with L.O. 3.5.4.2, WIN32,
XP!!!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55123] Impress imports ppt or pptx over 5.8Mb as text file

I've got the file - so you can take it down; thanks for that ! :-) my md5sum
is:

641012333d13fb9e736102e3360d37f8

and the size is 10015232 bytes.

Unfortunately, with a master build it detects and imports perfectly :-) With
3.6.1.2 it also imports correctly with no issues.

As such - this looks like an interesting legacy 3.5.x problem - but since we've
just done our last planned release of 3.5.x unless we can easily identify what
caused the issue there, I'd strongly recommend upgrading to 3.6.x which
includes a lot of other key performance and stability fixes in OLE2 / PPT
document handling.

Thanks so much for reporting the bug though ! much appreciated - as you say
it's great to condense feedback from the forums and into bugzilla.

This is the original odp file. Saving this to an .fodp file results in doubled

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44718] Add Unicode 2034 (Triple Prime) to LO

2012-10-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44718

--- Comment #5 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com ---
So - this is indeed font related; OpenSymbol doesn't appear to have those
glyphs.

So - we need to add them; first read:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/extras/source/truetype/symbol/README

And you'll find the authoritative .sfd file in that directory to edit - and add
the new glyphs to.

With some dumb -luck- that might just work; please send a patch for the .sdf
file with 2x new entries. It is possible we'll also need to adjust the
big-table-of-re-mapping-badness in vcl/ that is used to synthesise wingdings
and other common Windows fonts when they're missing.

HTH.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Version 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214) (I assume this is a 32-bit version of
LibreOffice) running on Windows 7 x64

Components installed: Writer, Calc, Impress

Java NOT installed.

In Writer, if I open the File menu and hover with the mouse over Send, a
submenu with choices is supposed to pop up. Instead, there is an error message
stating that Java is not installed, then LibreOffice crashes.

In Calc and Impress, the menu opens as expected.

On Vista (32-bit), there is only the java is needed error, but no crash in
Writer.

Would it be possible to add the choice for a parallel installation to the

I mean the procedure as written here:

I expect that especially for many windows users, that would lower the barrier

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55495] New: EDITING: recent fonts list only updated on font click (not on key Enter)

2012-10-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55495

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 55495
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: recent fonts list only updated on font click
(not on key Enter)
  Severity: minor
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: bog...@moongate.ro
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.1.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

The recent fonts list (the sub-list at the top of the font selection dialog)
should contain all recently selected fonts, regardless of how they were
selected. In reality, font selection must occur by explicitly clicking the font
in the font list; using the Enter key on the keyboard does *NOT* include the
selected font in the recent fonts list.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a new document (the recent fonts list must be empty, i.e. hidden)
2. Write some text in the document
3. Select some of the text
4. Click on the font selection drop-down list
5. Type the first few letters of a font (e.g. Cour)
6. Press key Enter on the keyboard
7. Reopen the font selection drop-down

Expected results: the recent fonts list should contain the newly-applied font.

Actual results: the recent fonts list is still empty.

Note: if the font is selected using a mouse click instead of the keyboard at
step (6) then the application behaves as expected.

Problem is: LO never wraps internet-links. Not only Calc, but other modules

I do not know if it is bug or feature.

PS: double click described in Bug 39909 here in with link not works too.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More
information about daily builds can be found at:
 http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Testing_Daily_Builds
Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback.

I tested the 3.7.0.0 build today and I wasn't able to reproduce the bug, hence
I would consider it solved :) (Couldn't find a 3.6.3 pre-built nightly for OS-X
though)

I'm happy that I'll soon be able to use BetterTouchTool again with LO :) Thank

When hovering the top (or bottom) of a page, a blue button appears for adding a
header (footer). When a user clicks again the blue button to remove the header,
headers of all pages of the document are removed and thereby the view scrolls
to the top.

This is probably undesired in long documents, and also inconsistent because you
can add the (document-wide) header while working at a specific page, so
removing it should leave you at the same page.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55156] Hang on accessing any pane in the application Options dialog, when Cinch is running (related to Mac OS accessibility)

--- Comment #8 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de ---
Thank you very much, Tor, for all your debugging work applied to this issue,
and for your patch, even if you just call it a “silly workaround”!

I have tested the new workaround with a current master build:
LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 3f84462b, pull time: 2012-09-30 06:38:06),
on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel), Cinch running as required.

I can confirm a big progress: there is no hang anymore (and no crash, as it was
caused by another a11y-related bug); the LibreOffice “Options” dialog window is
usable again even when Cinch is running.

Of course, there is still a noticeable delay when changing the options pane.
To see more easily what’s going on, open the Terminal, start “top”, and let it
run in the background while playing with LibreOffice. My observations:

* When I open the LibreOffice “Options” dialog, everything is fine (the CPU
usage of the soffice process jumps only for a second or not at all).

* As soon as I try to change the current options pane, there is a 1-2 seconds
dealy, and the CPU usage of the “soffice” process jumps to ca. 100%.
Interesting enough, it stays at that high level even after the new options pane
is visible. You can “feel” this also in the LibreOffice UI: changing anything
in the new options pane (e.g., typing something into an edit field, or just
checking a checkbox) works very slowly. But it works, of course, and this is a
big progress.

* If you change the options pane again, the same thing happens: a 1-2 seconds
delay, then the new options pane is visible, editing/changing anything is very
slow. CPU stays at more or less 100%.

* Even when I close the “Options” dialog window, and there is another
LibreOffice window open (Start Center or document window), the “soffice”
process first stays at 100% CPU usage; as soon as I click on the Start Center
or document window so that it gets the focus, the CPU usage goes down to normal
level ( 1%).

* If I close the “Options” dialog window, and there is no other LibreOffice
window open, not even the Start Center window (this is possible on Mac OS X,
not on Win), the CPU usage immediately goes down to normal level.

@ Tor (and Michael Meeks):

A big progress, and the main bug (the hang) is fixed now. Great!

Of course, it would be even better if we could get the CPU usage (which stays
at 100% after the first options pane change) down to a normal level again; this
would make it much easier to change anything in the “Options” window, and give
us back a good User experience. Do you see any chance to achieve this (without
too much additional work, of course)?

Anyway, thank you very much!

Is there a keyword for MS Word feature parity?

Not that I am aware of it. There is one (!) bug with the whiteboard (!) tag
INTEROPERABILITY, so you can add it here, too, but this will probably not help
very much … ;-) Once there was a very passionate QA volunteer who wanted to
create a list of all interoperability issues, to make it easier to track and
fix them, but he newer did what he announced :-(

So, what to do about this request now?

The best thing we could is to find some hacker who misses this feature, too,
and wants to add it. But at the moment, I don’t know whom to ask. Caolán
McNamara caol...@redhat.com has implemented some similar features, cf. e.g.
bug 38983, but he is one of our most important developers and very busy, so I
hesitate to ask him. If you can think of some of our freelance contributors who
has done similar work, and could sparse some time for this, so please ask him
...

Or we can just wait and hope ;-)

Our application consists of a graphing program that is capable of exporting
date/time stamped data in multiple columns for further analysis by other
software. The time-of-day component of the date/time is critical to this task.
Currently this system has only the LO spreadsheet application installed for the
purpose of reading the Excel file. I will have to identify and install other
software for this task if I can't get LO to work by the time this application
goes into production.

It looks like the DateTime component uses date/time format in ISO 8601 which is
well documented and should be relatively simple to parse.

Thank you very much for your bug report!

However, it would be much easier to handle your report if you could describe in
some detail *what* is wrong about the formatting of this RTF file when you open
it in LibreOffice.

Do you happen to know if the formatting of this document correct in some
earlier version of LibreOffice/OpenOffice.org?

It would be even better if you could document the wrong formatting by some
screenshots, i.e. by a screenshot of the correct formatting (the document
opened in MS Office, or some earlier version of LibreOffice/OpenOffice.org, if
the formatting was correct there), and by a screenshot of the wrong formatting
in LibreOffice 3.6.

This would be very helpful. Thank you very much in advance!

Thank you very much for your bug report!

REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: da8c1e6), German langpack
installed, on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel). Behaviour as the original reported
described: as soon as I confirm to delete the header/footer, LibO shows the
first page of the document.

Changing Platform to “All”, because reproducible on Linux and Mac OS X.
Changing Importance to minor (no crash, no data loss, etc., just irritating).

Thx that you try, that's the first real progress for this bug within 10 years
:-)
We are not in a hurry.

By the way, the NEWER attachment cannot be opened with L.O. 3.5.4.2, WIN32,
 XP!!!

Works fine with the original document on my PC, but none of my Versions I tried
is able to open downloaded attachment. It seems that that document is damaged.
I replaced it, hope that it now will work.

No way, the new document will not work, either.

On my PC the working example is shown with 11805 bytes, the documents I
uploaded and again downloaded from Bugzilla have 11686 bytes.

For me this here works hope you can download sample from here:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55506] New: BUGZILLA: particular .odg becomes damaged during upload as attachment or dwonload

2012-10-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55506

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 55506
CC: webs...@global.libreoffice.org
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: BUGZILLA: particular .odg becomes damaged during
upload as attachment or dwonload
  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: WWW
   Product: LibreOffice

I found this problem during my research for Bug 55430 - EDITING: Single mouse
click selection of element completely drawn in front of selected filled area
impossible

Steps how to reproduce:
1. Download http://www.bielefeldundbuss.de/LibO/55430/newsample.odg
   and
   https://issues.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=79703
2. Check size of both documents, should be 11805 bytes
3. Upload one of the documents here (I did with SeaMonkey/2.12.1) as
   attachment
4. Download document again and save. If you suffer from the same problem as I
with
attachment 67868, attachment 67936, size now should be 11686 bytes, and
LibO
will not open the documents (form WIN files explorer or LibO File menu),
but give Error Message General Error

Works fine with upload / download to AOOo Bugzilla (see link above), so I think
it might be something with Bugzilla.

Can you please check upload / download with a document of your own to confirm
this issue before we change Component to FDO Bugzilla?

Hi Florian,

Can we please change this to an enhancement request? Regardless of what
other programs do, this needs to be easier to accomplish in LO. When the text
overlaps, it is a nightmare to edit.

Many thanks,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55507] New: Frequent crashes on sheets with high number of textual content

2012-10-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55507

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 55507
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Frequent crashes on sheets with high number of textual
content
  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: m.schipperh...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

I'm reporting a bug here that has been in Libreoffice 3.4.0 since I moved over
from OpenOffice. OpenOffice does not have this major issue and I don't even
know why I'm still using Libreoffice.

LibreOffice Calc crashes frequently. I have had this problem on all major
version releases since 3.4.0.

The file that always crashes is an Excel sheet that contains textual
translations for a website. Think lots and lots of columns filled with just
text and no calculations.

After a while of using the sheet, when you enter a new bit of text and press
ENTER, Calc will crash. Saving the file before you press enter, seems to
sometimes prevent a crash.

There is no clear indication of what leads to the crash other than the passage
of time and use of the sheet.

It's bloody annoying.
