Oh jeez, yet another MS Access bug, surely a DUP of one we already have in the
system, in fact, the hang in LO is exactly the same behaviour as at least one
other bug report on the same topic (will have to dig around to find out which
one).

Not only is it a bug, it also a regression. This used to work in previous
versions of LO.

Hi,

I have the same problem and it is really annoying.
I have 3.5.4 and the bug is still present.

the only option I have now to save paper is to export to PDF fromat and print
from Okular as Benoni mentioned in his first post.

However, it happens that I forget about this bug and I waste quite a bit of
paper.

I bumped this bug to a higher rank. Hopefully no one gets offended.

Thanks,
Bogdan

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55940] To subtract a cell requires a double minus.

2012-10-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55940

It is easy to miss the –. It really is not a problem for me in the file. I
thought it might be a problem with Calc since it doesn’t seem normal to use a
double minus. You are correct, If I just add the cell the result is the same.
I think that since the 2 cells have a negative number they are automatically
subtracted when you add them up. I had sort of thought that was what might be
happening. I just went and removed the minus in the 2 cells and the formula
with all plus signs then added the 2 cells instead of subtracting them.
Again this is not a problem for me and it seems to me that Calc might doing the
correct thing. If you use a single minus then it seems to change the negative
cells to positive, so then you have to use the second minus to actually
subtract the negative cells. This is interesting, I wonder if all spreadsheets
would do the same. Oh well, that is not important but it has been a good
learning experience for me. I hope I have not wasted a lot of your time.

Thank you for your help,
Jerry

Thank you for your feedback, I had missed the cell where there was a double
minus.
But I still can't see the problem:
2 minus = an addition.

If in a cell, I put this:
=B12+B16+B22+B29+B33+B48
I got the same result as:
=B12+B16+B22--B29--B33+B48
aka here 937136,7

Sorry, I must really miss something but I still don't see problem.
If we focus on ods file (so let's forget for the moment the txt file), is there
a problem for you in this file? If yes which one?

(again sorry if I miss something obvious)

So you opened the ods file and in cell B50 you do not see a double minus – sign
in the formula for cells B29 and B33. The formula is simple,
=B12+B16+B22--B29--B33+B48
I opened the txt file with Calc, summed the sub areas, and created the formula
in Cell B50.
Thanks for your time. I really appreciate Libre Office and have been using it
for quite some time. I know that it is volunteers like you that make such a

Hello,

I am not a "Techie" so I don't understand a lot of the information within
this Forum, but I still have the "Comment Box" issues as originally
described by me. I see many different replies, some of which were rather
rude (like Comment #11 -- "Useless Information ... Shows nothing"), but no
solutions. You asked for a Sample of the problem, which sent and yet you
tell me it's "Useless". So what do you want from me? I saw the
"work-around" posted for creating a Macro, but I really expected the
LibreOffice group to fix the problem. Do you think it is possible to fix
this bug, so that each and every user does not need to create a
"work-around"?

One suggestion that you made was for me to modify the "Paragraph Style".
And how do I Modify the "Paragraph Style"? And by modifying this, does that
affect both Comment Boxes as well as all other fonts in all cells on the
sheet? Will this be the "new" Default from henceforth for all new sheets
and all new Comment Boxes?

Thanx in advance for your time.
David

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38511] Command line --convert-to txt doesn't work: Failure modes

2012-10-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38511

I am seeing this in Fedora 17 with Libreoffice version 3.5.7.2-2 (their package
version).

With Silent Failure, I only see it with a window already open. If there are
windows open, it fails silently. With no windows open, it fails with .ods and
.odp (bug #56231), but works with .odt.

I am wondering, but haven't yet tried to duplicate it with multiple sessions of
--headless --convert to see if it fails. My situation requires that it
works with --headless --convert no matter how many instances are running. I
would love to see this fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56231] New: Need --convert-to txt:Text *.odp, *.ods to work

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56231

Summary: Need --convert-to txt:Text *.odp, *.ods to work
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: trever.ad...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: filters and storage
   Product: LibreOffice

I am working on a system, where I need to be able to extract text from all
document types supported by LibreOffice. The exported text needs to be UTF-8,
which I understand is what LibreOffice normally exports.

The problem is that if you try to --convert-to txt:Text with Impress or Calc
native or imported files, an error is given.

For Calc, at least for my needs, csv where a space is used instead of the comma
is perfect.

For Impress just dump the text out using a newline or
other whitespace character between text objects and slides, otherwise
just straight UTF-8 text.

Thank you for considering this feature.

[NOT REPRODUCIBLE] on Windows XP, neither 3.6.1.2 nor 3.6.2.2, US-English UI.

I inserted a picture, right-click selecting "Caption", then "Illustration" was
already selected (which I think it is what you mean for "Abbildung") > click
OK. It is all expected.

Also, in the Caption dialog > "Options" > do you check it is "Numbering first"
or "Category first"? Anyway, for me they both behaved correctly in both
versions.

Postscript-file that contains the first and second letter of a batch.

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
- Open an .odt-file that contains text, graphics, and references to database
variables in a MySQL-DB.
- Select more than ONE database tuple (record) for merging
- Print

Current behavior:
When merging fields from tuples of a MySQL-Database (5.5.24-9-log) the first of
a series of letters prints o.k.. From the second letter onwards information
from DB-variables gets left out. Not in this case, but in other cases I have
observed that in addition also graphics (lines, included jpg-files) get left
out.

So, if I want to produce - say - 150 letters, I would have to do so one by one
(it cannot be done in a batch!). This is absolutely unacceptable, especially in
business environment!

Expected behavior:
Also letters after the first one should always contain the expected text,
graphics, and information from the database

Works for me:

Double-click on the text and the cursor won't disappear.

This functionality doesn't exist in:

If this is going to be done, a 'Reset' button should be added as well.

It was already noted and patched the inconsistency of LibreOffice Wiki

1.7 64 bit as reported in the attached screenshot.
Environment: LibreOffice 3.6.3.1 (but the problem was also present with version
3.6.2.2; OS: Windows7 Pro 64 bit Java: JRE 1.7.09 both versions ie 32 and 64
bit.
After choosing JRE 64 bit as the LibO JRE environment going to Options ->
LibreOffice -> Java and after having also restarted LibO as required, if i go
to Optioons -> Internet -> MediaWiki I had the error reported in the attached
screenshot. On the contrary I have no problem if I choose the JRE 1.7 32 bit as

 Component: Drawing

Steps how to reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.6.3.1” English UI/ German Locale
[Build-ID: f8fce0b] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit).

1. Open new DRQS document
2. Created a Textbox with simple Text "1 22 333 5"
3. Click into empty page area
4. Right click Text box (not to edit mode) -> Position and size
   > You will see 2 properties 'Adapt - Fit ... to text

I wonder why we need these 2 Text properties here (what are also available in
'Format -> Text'), but not "Fit to frame" and the other text related properties
for DRAW objects and pixel pictures. To me that looks inconsistent.

Hello Julien,

No, we have not got around to do a clean install on the machine. At the latest,
this will happen with the next distro version/upgrade.

In the meantime if anybody wants me to check/test any config files, please let
me know.

George: I can only advise you to try to reproduce the problem with a newer
version (3.5.6 or 3.6.2) after having renamed your LO profile

Hi Roberto, thanks for getting back to me. Sorry for replying that late, but I

File meta.xml inside of document contains this line:
meta:page-count="13"
Therefore Writer shows 13 pages immediatedly ater opening. It is correct.
This 13 pages remains in LO 3.3.2 and 3.4.0 on Mandriva 64 bit
So, possible regression. (in 3.4.0 page number remains 13, in 3.6.0 changes)

Now we are coming closer to the roots of the problem. I did some tests
additional tests with 'Format -> Position and Size' (until now I only checked
'Format -> Text') and found several inconsistencies and also the intentional
reason for this bug report.

The Help texts here are definitively wrong and should be replaced by the ones
used for
Help for 'Format -> Text - Text - Fit width to text'
and
Help for 'Format -> Text - Text - Fit height to text'

I wonder whether there exist functions for what the current texts for " Format
- Position and Size - Fit ... to text" would match. I only know similar
'Format -> Text - Text - Fit height to text'
and
'Format -> Text - Text - Adjust to contour' where font size will be modified,
but that's not really the same. It looks as if the current texts can be deleted
after they have been replaced in Help?

@khagar...@gmail.com
Do you agree with my proposal for soulution?
Do you have a more powerful tools to find out whether the complained texts are
used somewhere else?

Thanks for additional testing
Please, tell exact version of LO which works slow (3.5 or 3.6 or 3.7?).

If possible, attach document that demonstrates that LO is slow with much red
lines. It is important, because developers have no time for creating this
document and other users use red lines very rare for interesting in this. Such
document may very help in improving LO.
Thanks in advance

After several emails with Jean-Paul, I reproduced the problem on pc Debian
x86-64 with master sources updated today.

1) Menu Options, LibreOffice Drawing, General, change Unit of Measurement from
"Centimeter" to "Meter" then click Ok
2) Create any simple shape
3) Select the shape
4) Menu Edition, Duplicate, impossible to put more than "1,00m" to X-Axis or
Y-Axis

Notice that if you don't use "Meter" but let "Centimeter", no problem.

Rainer: sorry if it's a stupid or a naive question but is it an expected
behaviour?

PS : about Firefox, it was just a confusion with another bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56217] New: Use formatting of referenced cell in target cell

2012-10-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56217

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56217
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Use formatting of referenced cell in target cell
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: larsen...@web.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Chart
   Product: LibreOffice

Hi,

I searched for "format reference", but didn´t get a result when constraint to
"Chart" component. Google merely showed that some people using Excel are
looking for what I want, too.

Assume there are three cells defined (e.g. "open", "discuss", "done") and have
a background color assigned.

In the cells in my column "status", I reference one of those cells and get the
value of it, but not the formatting. It would be very nice to not only get the
value, but also the formatting, so e.g. when I set the background color of
"done" to green, all the cells referencing "done" would also become green.

Would a Valgrind trace help to understand why this commit gives this bug?
Perhaps the commit is ok in itself but triggers a buggy part of code.
