[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56344] New: LibreOffice cups printing problems

2012-10-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56344

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56344
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: LibreOffice cups printing problems
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: franco.vi...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.2.2 release
 Component: Printing and PDF export
   Product: LibreOffice

On Linux system, cups has a timeout of 300 seconds by default. When you print
from OpenOffice the first time, everything is ok. If you wait more then 300
seconds and then try to print again, nothing happen. When nothing happen, go
into the printer dialog and you will get an empty list. Increasing at infinity
the cups timeout, you have no problem but this cannot be the solution.

If you drop the cups option using the printer admin dialog, everything is fine.

I'd like to add that in desperation I've assign F3 to "Find and Replace"
instead. Would like to swap the 2 but unable to, because "Find" cannot be found
in Customize>Keyboard>Function. I found out though that Ctrl-H is assigned to
"Find and Replace". At least it is so in ver3.6.2.

> According to this ...
I'm sorry, my ignorance, "Biff8" seems to mean "quite normal .xls", please try
with an empty .xls saved from LibO and opened in a text editor.

So currently this still seems to be an "invalid document" problem.

So my suggestion is:
a) If reporter can show a way to make the crash reproducible within a month,
we will check and eliminate the crash. If not we sill close this bug WFM or
   INVALID
b) If reporter can contribute a VALID document what will be opened by EXCEL or
EXCEL Viewer without error messages, but causing problems with LibO,
he should submit a separate new bug for that
   with attached document

@Marc Schipperheyn
It would be great if you could try again with a new Server installation

using it's own user profile

to avoid side effects by a possibly damaged old installation or user profile?

Thanks to you indeed. If you have a moment to spare, I beg you please have a
look at bug 55186, which is WAY more critical: as I describe there, sorting
function on Calc are totally not working if you want a horizontal (from left to
right) sorting, and are crippled also in vertical sorting with respect to
headers. It really is hard to believe, and I do not really know what to tell my
students, to whom I teach with LO. How can I tell them than such a basic
functionality i na spreadsheet is NOT WORKING???
IF you have a minute please please check for yourself, it is totally easy: put
the numbers 2, 3 and 1 in the first three cells A1, B1 and C1, select them then
try sorting horizontally: nothing will happen the three numbers will stay
stubbornly unsorted.
Thanks!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55186] EDITING: Ordering wrongly includes the headers when last header is empty

2012-10-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55186

Unfortunately I have received no feedback on this problem, which is critical
for user of calc. In the meantime I have fiddled some more with ordering
functions in calc in 3.6.2 and sadly I ha to say that Horizontal ordering IS
NOT WORKING at all. No way. Try writing any sequence of data in a row, select
it, then choose data-ordering and select order from left to right (horizontal):
NOTHING happens, nothing at all. The only way to order such data is to
transpose it with copy special, order it vertically (this work, with the
exception of the problems with headers already noted) and then re-trasnspose
it.
This very hard. I am in a difficult position with my students to whom I teach
using LO. How can I tell them that such a basic operation for a spreadsheet is
totally crippled? Please help. Thank you.

Sorry I had forgotten to update this: The problem occurred on LO 3.4.5, but in
3.6.x it is not present anymore. Or at least I am now able to create mailmerge
documents with tables, and then copy data from the table in any of the
mailmerge created docs and paste them correctly in calc.
I read below that Sasha experienced crashes while experimenting with this in
3.6.0; I have now tried both 3.6.1 and 3.6.2 in windows 7 and I had no such
problem.
Therefore, from my point of view, this is solved.
Thanks for the effort.

Removing the byte-order-mark from the example file attached to this report
allows the file to be successfully imported again (3.5.4 debian wheezy
packages). This is a regression compared to previous versions of OpenOffice.org
where the exact same file is imported correctly.

(And please don't rip out support for file formats that people are using --
I've been able to push the adoption of libreoffice based on the support of this
format and if this format disappears, I am unlikely to have the resources to
develop support for some other spreadsheet format and would sadly end up having
to recommend alternatives instead.)

Possibly related - A workbook of mine which recalcs in <1s using 3.5.7 and
previous versions now takes ~5min. Sorry I cannot share it as there is too
much proprietary data in there. Loading is not noticeably slower. As with these
reports, 1 CPU is 100% utilized by scalc the entire time. I see the same
results in both 3.6.0.2 and 3.6.3.1. I am using Ubuntu Linux 12.04. Thanks

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34940] EDITING: Start on click not added correctly to movies

2012-10-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34940

http://www.kingsoftstore.com/presentation-free.html
They do it this way: When adding a video you'll be asked:

When to start video?
[automatically] [ when I click ]

and you're done because you can start/pause/stop videos in arbitrary order on a
slide by clicking.

Thus the closest and most simple thing to be done for libre impress would be
introducing a setting:
- initial view:
 (*) start video
 (*) show black/white/color rectangle [2]
 (*) show first frame [3]

[2] can be emulated by adding an action stopping the video when the slide
starts (follows previous slide)
[3] can't be done AFAIK (maybe with some scripting)

Because playing movies is one of the most important features a presentation
software provides I consider this being very important.

I understand that it is possible to create a screenshot of the first frame, add
it as image, hide the image and start the video. But that case is that common
that there should be an easier way. But who is willing to write assembler
today?

Tested with 3.6.2.2 windows, release

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56284] soffice fails to start unless ~/.config exists and is writable

2012-10-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56284

Which options are there?

a) create /etc/skel/.config - so that .config is create whenever a new user is
created (doesn't seem to be common)

b) make libreoffice create that directory (700 because .config might contain
sensible data - and it is what ubuntu seems to do (?))
This would solve this problem once and forever for this project only

c) Is it the task of libreoffice to create the directory? Or should the bug
report forwarded to whatever library libreoffice is using to access .config?

I don't know. Software should just work - and b) will accomplish this for
LibreOffice forever.

I'd not change the permission if the directory already exists.

chrome, htop both create it and set 700.
inkscape creates it and sets 711

I could test more applications - but that will not change the fact that just
creating it and setting it to 700 makes everything work.

I need to mark this as NEEDINFO.

Reason:

Are you saying "It does in fact work in Microsoft Excel" or are you saying "I
know that it does in fact work in LibreOffice Calc/Spreadsheet".

If this is an Excel macro, it won't necessarily (almost never) work in
LibreOffice Calc/Spreadsheet.

If you are saying it does/did work in our product or OOo (openoffice), then
please reopen this and provide a comment letting us know that Excel actually
means Calc/Spreadsheet.

I am going to confirm #1 as an enhancement request.

#2 looks solved as Sasha has a link to a bug that is resolved.

#3: should be a new bug report. We don't like combining bugs as it makes it
much more difficult to track and fix bugs. If it's still a problem please open
a new bug, describe the steps to reproduce and provide a sample document that
we can test on that you have seen the issue.

Edited title to reflect only bug #1, also prioritizing:

Enhancement: This is an enhancement request, not a bug

Importance: Low - not many users use the format paintbrush, for those who do,
they would only see the problem if you are trying to do something very specific
(use across documents). Furthermore, workaround is relatively simple, just set
some text to the same settings and use format paintbrush internally on the
second document.

Best Regards,
Joel

First, sorry for the long delay in triaging this, we're handling a large

Second, unfortunately I have to mark this as NEEDINFO.

What we need is a zipped package with everything useful that we can EASILY
reproduce the bug. We have nearly 1,500 bugs to reproduce and we have to
request that our users and bug reporters provide as much as they can to help
us. If you could provide the test package with the document, database, etc...
basically whatever you can do to make sure:

a) that we see the problem exactly as you do

b) that it isn't time prohibitive for us to triage the bug and get someone to
work on it

Roman Eisele changed:

VERIFIED as FIXED on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel) both with
  LibreOffice/LOdev 3.6.4.0+ daily build
  (Bbuild ID: b3a49f9; pull time: 2012-10-22 13:06:54)
and
  LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ daily build
  (build ID: 370m0(Build:0); pull time: 2012-10-21 10:01:47)

As far as some quick tests can show, the caret position is much more precise
now than in 3.5.7.1 or 3.6.2.2. I did not find any negative side-effects of the
new patch.

@ Sergey Farbotka:
So, your little patch has made a big progress, making editing justified text
much easier on Mac OS X. Thank you very much!

Thanks for nailing this down. Comment #18 is useful to reproduce and even fix
this problem.

It is a nasty bug and I hope that we will fix it soon. Well, I am not aware of
other similar bugs, so it looks like less typical scenario. The bug was already
in older 3.6.x releases => we should not block 3.6.3 with other useful fixes =>
lowering the severity a bit. I hope that we could fix this for 3.6.4 because it
is regression and potential data loss.

On Win XP (32 bit)
I have just downloaded and installed:
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.6.2/win/x86/LibO_3.6.2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi
and then
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.6.2/win/x86/LibO_3.6.2_Win_x86_helppack_en-GB.msi

Opening writer or calc and selecting Help it goes straight to the web browser
and the wiki help.

I tried deleting "D:\Documents and Settings\Bob\Application Data\LibreOffice"
which it recreated with no difference. There is nothing in
Tools-Options-Libreoffice-Paths about help. The help package appears to have
been installed in "C:\Program Files\LibreOffice 3.6\help\en-GB"

So I appear to have the same problem on Windows. My Ubuntru installation is
broken, so I can't test it on there.

Two queries with two joins - query of GUI didn't work.

@comment 5:

The problem appears, when you create a query with two joins, not only one. The
GUI creates every time the procedure: first the tables, then the definition of
the relations.
This works for a normal "join" like
FROM table1, table2, table3 WHERE table1.nameID = table2.ID ...
This doesn't work for right or left joins. There it must look like
FROM table1 LEFT JOIN table2 ON table1.nameID = table2.ID LEFT JOIN table3 ON
...
When a query is created with "JOIN" there must be a definition of the relation
directly after the definition of a join.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54483] Hidden Changes lead to wrong word count

2012-10-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Joel Madero changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW

   Priority|medium |lowest
 CC||jmadero@gmail.com
 Ever confirmed|0 |1

This is an interesting one indeed. I can reproduce so marking as NEW.

My issue is that I'm not positive that I accept that it's a bug. If the change
hasn't been accepted then you might actually want it to count the word still.
My biggest issue is that there is inconsistency (which is definitely a bug),
either the word should be counted, or the word shouldn't, regardless of if
"show" is ticked or unticked.

Marking as NEW and prioritizing.

Normal: The only reason why I would suggest that this is a normal priority bug
is because in many settings (such as education) there are very strict word
count requirements. We need to at least clarify what that number on the bottom
means so that there is absolutely no confusion.

Lowest: Not going to impact many people at all, also, compared to a lot of
other normal bugs, this is almost trivial.

Other note:If you go to tools -> word count, you get the word count without the
deleted word(s) regardless of if show is ticked or unticked

@ Jan Bengtsson:
Thank you very much for confirming that the problem is still reproducible!

However, please do not “update” the Version field ;-) It should always contain
the first version which is known to contain the bug, and not the last one.
(This is important for finding out when a bug was introduced!)

I added a few people to CC who have been involved with the discussion. This has
to be a high priority fix, just not sure who can fix it. According to Christian
it's an easy fix so maybe it'd only a few minutes to edit whatever needs to be
changed.

If someone has a recommendation of who can fix this please let me know or add
them to CC. It's been over a week and we haven't been able to touch BSA.

Thanks all

Also, marking as NEW as it's been confirmed by at least 3 people

Test files

With the attachments "nba2012.zip"

- register database nba2012.odb with name "nba2012"

- open nba2012.ods spreadsheet. It contains links with nba2012 datasource.

- "sheet1" contains a database range. You can refresh it with no problem.

- "Pivot Table_Sheet1_1" contains a pivot table linked with table "coaches" in
datasource nba2012. You can edit layout for this pivot table, or create a new
one linked with datasource ... but this pivot table will always be empty ,
except for page fields where dropdown lists has values.

I've tested with other existing pivot table linked with a postgresql
datesource. It's the same thing :
- works perfectly in 3.6.2
- always empty pivot table in 3.6.3 rc1 ( and also in 3.6.4.0 dev from
10-23-2012).

So I think it's a regression ( it's a blocker for me, but I let you estimate
severity).

Like bug #52640, this should be fixed before release. Comment #4 explains
clearly how this breaks presentations.

These two bugs are very close ... should we consider this bug a duplicate of
#52640 ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50774] FILEOPEN: Incorrect numbering of headings in .docx document

Version|3.5.4 release |3.3.0 release

@ Writer experts:

Hello Cédric, Luboš, Michael, and Miklós,

this is another interesting problem in the import of .docx files. It exists
(with some variation of the symptoms) since LibreOffice 3.3.0, so it is no
regression, but nevertheless it would be well worth fixing this issue, because
it might impair the use of LibreOffice for all advanced document issues. I say
“might”, because right now we have only one sample file, but there is no
obvious reason why it should not also happen in many other complex files ...
Breaking the automatic numbering of headings is a nightmare e.g. for academic
usage.

Thank you very much for looking into this issue!
