[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56818] deadlock from OCommonEmbeddedObject::changeState

--- Comment #2 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com ---
Thanks - I couldn't reproduce this running the tests with no parallelism (and
when I'd cleaned up stale locks) - so assumed it was some pre-existing bug
we're just triggering - but it's not - shame :-)

Will have a deeper dig; thanks for the trace ! :-)

I had the very same problem, took me long to figure out. I still believe it's
not something that LibreOffice should be fixing (probably more of RightZoom or
that other tool problem). Anyway, I just disabled RightZoom for LibreOffice App
and everything works fine.

The bug is assigned to be resolved.

2012-11-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56818

--- Comment #3 from Stephan Bergmann sberg...@redhat.com ---
The deadlock is apparently happening in the call to
pOLENd-GetOLEObj().GetOleRef()-getComponent() in SwNoTxtFrm::PaintPicture
(sw/source/core/doc/notxtfrm.cxx). Comparing execution of sfx2_complex before
and after 44cfc7cb6533d827fd2d6e586d92c61d7d7f7a70, in the before case that
call is never reached because the condition

  else if( bIsChart
// Charts must be painted resolution dependent!! #i82893#, #i75867#
 ChartPrettyPainter::ShouldPrettyPaintChartOnThisDevice( pOut )
 svt::EmbeddedObjectRef::TryRunningState( pOLENd-GetOLEObj().GetOleRef()
)
 ChartPrettyPainter::DoPrettyPaintChart( uno::Reference frame::XModel (
pOLENd-GetOLEObj().GetOleRef()-getComponent(), uno::UNO_QUERY),
pOut, aAlignedGrfArea.SVRect() ) )

is never executed past the call to
ChartPrettyPainter::ShouldPrettyPaintChartOnThisDevice (i.e., that always
returns false).

In the after case, this code has been completely redesigned, and esp. no call
to
ChartPrettyPainter::ShouldPrettyPaintChartOnThisDevice remains.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51023] EDITING: Drag-and-drop slide always moves slide to first position, leading to data corruption and sometimes CRASH

2012-11-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51023

--- Comment #58 from Tor Lillqvist tlillqv...@suse.com ---
Michael: The core surprising point that Lubos's patch wasn't aware of was that
all the drag-and-drop happens during the call to
pSlideSorterViewShell-StartDrag(); that returns only after the whole
drag-and-drop operation has finished.

For now, I fixed it in master by just reverting the patch for MacOSX only:

commit 192a0eb2beccee5349c3c7b60208aa95eb985f35
Author: Tor Lillqvist t...@iki.fi
Date:   Wed Nov 7 15:50:21 2012 +0200

fdo51023: Revert e4450c54aee85b295b933e91d207fd8220c01107 for Mac OS X

See bug for discussion. Basically, the root cause to the problem is
that on the Mac, all the drag-and-drop action happens during the call
to pSlideSorterViewShell-StartDrag() in the Initialize method. Thus
no wonder that mpDragAndDropContext is null in the ProcessDragEvent()
as it has not been initialized yet, and is in fact initialised
pointlessly only after the drag-and-drop already has finished.

Reverted just for Mac OS X and ifdefified in a straightforward even if
ugly fashion.

 Rainer/Michael: Bernard Nicoulaud (in cc of this bugtracker) sent me an
 email telling me that he was astonished that 3.6.3 was considered as
 enough stable and useable in production whereas there's still this bug.

By production you mean some big enterprise ? they'd want to contract L3 support
to get their bugs fixed to their timeline I imagine.

 I must recognize he's quite right. Indeed, it's not a matter of an error
 message but that some results are wrong and it's easy not to notice it.
 What do you think?

Clearly we need a fix and a unit test so it never comes back; patches very much
appreciated. Until then - I CC Kohei who may have some ideas - it's been a MAB
for nearly a month I guess.

The Pivot code is rather tricky, tangled and there are is no shortage of bugs
that give wrong results in any given version of it for the last many years - we
are slowly moving the bugs around, fixing them - and stopping known ones coming
back with unit tests. Help from anyone doing QA earlier in the cycle to catch
such things earlier is much appreciated.

Expanding our PivotTable unit tests is also not a terribly hard thing to do -
cf.

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sc/qa/unit/ucalc.cxx#n1698

Might be nice if end-users could do that themselves; then again - the request
to extend the calc unit tests fell didn't yield much. We essentially need
complicated scenarios with minimal data (ie. small) test sheets as .ods files,
with verified correct / matching .csv files (one per sheet) that we can drop
into here:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sc/qa/unit/data/ods
vs.
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sc/qa/unit/data/contentCSV

Perhaps we could do that for pivot-table corner-cases too: there are a lot of
them. Help much appreciated.

Anyhow - sorry for the new bug - no doubt it is a side-effect of fixing another
bug.

Conditional formatting not saving correctly
Think this is a bug as its only started since upgrading to new version
looks like i'll have to revert to the ealier version

Steps to reproduce:
I have a grid of cells selected (approx 48 X 120) these cells have Conditional
formatting set on them
Enter a letter in any of the cells (say 'r' for red) and that cell will formate
to red - I have 4 different colours
I can set this up no problem and it works ok
But when I reopen the spreadsheet the formatting towards the bottom of the grid
does not work - just shows the inputted letters
If I look at formatting Conditional formatting manage the 'range' has
changed

Current behavior: Conditional formatting not saving correctly

Expected behavior:to save correctly

We got word from our users that they could not see which was the currently
selected cell. It turned out they had made the borders bold and when they
click into the cell the only visual cue is the small box that appears in the
corner. Tested with Excel 2010 and that software makes the cell turn white if
the border is black/bold. This small UI change makes it much easier for users
to figure out cursor location. Requesting this feature be implemented.

Similar to issue 52100, but not quite the same.

Side-by-side comparison of the font in Microsoft Word 2010 and LibreOffice

LibreOffice does not correctly space the font FreeSans, available for download
at http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/freefont/. The displays in the image are roughly the
same text, 14 pt and 280% zoom, yet LibreOffice clearly spaces the font more
than is specified. This occurs with both the OpenType and TrueType versions of
the font. This can be reproduced simply by installing the font and typing any
text in both LibreOffice and Word.

I experience this problem constantly and it is very irritating when you are
searching through long document in which the term you are searching for appears
many times.

I just want to keep clicking the next button while looking at the searched
text. Having to stop, look at where the button has moved to, chase the button,
click it in new position, repeat 30 times - - very aggravating as I often have
to do this several times a day.

It is too easy to click and find you have now reformatted or edited yet another
table or a list without realizing it. As a usability issue, this is a 9 out of
10 imo.

I think the problem comes from anti-aliasing for graphics which is very cpu
consuming. You can disable it in the options : menu Tools Options
LibreOffice  View

If I disable anti-aliasing for graphics, scrolling is smooth. If I enable it
scrolling is less smooth. After, that depends on your graphic card.
I did my test with LO 3.6.3 and LO 3.6.4.0+ under Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64

Please, could you try this workaround?

Document showing incorrect cell size

I was making a document where I'm putting resized pictures into a table in
order to make a row of figures. Since the pictures are too big, I'm resizing
them down to fit the size I want.

If I use a 2 column table, the pictures still fill the row I've placed them
in, and everything works are expected. If I use a 2 column table, everything
works as expected until both pictures are resized. After that, the cell row
isn't sized to the pictures anymore and they float over the table.

Steps:
1) create a default 4x2 table
2) insert picture into each cell
3) resize each picture to 2 (keep ratio)
4) everything works

1) create a default 3x2 table
2) insert picture into each cell
3) resize each picture to 2 (keep ratio)
4) everything works

1) create a default 2x2 table
2) insert picture into each cell
3) resize each picture to 2 (keep ratio)
4) cell size doesn't match picture size

I've attached a document that shows the problem behavior. It is 100%
reproducible.
