[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50774] FILEOPEN DOC/DOCX: automatic numbering in numbered lists different from Word numbering
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50774 --- Comment #16 from stfhell --- > @stfhell > Is it possible to split this into separate bugs with brief clear and simple > bug descriptions? I'm a little overwhelmed with that enormous lot of samples The problem is I wouldn't know what to put exactly in the other bug reports. I was looking at how "Example 9" does its numbering and I was experimenting with autonumbering in Word to see where LO deviated and if there is any difference between DOC and DOCX import. I'm sorry for the lengthy comments but I couldn't make them shorter because I still don't know where exactly LO's problems start, I could only describe what I found in the file. Maybe it is in fact just one bug. The samples show (I think): (1) If autonumbering is used correctly in Word, LO can handle it. (2) Autonumbering in Word (without list styles) is obviously bound to lead to messy files, at some stage. Just ignore the files if you don't want to use them for any experiments. > I can confirm that "Lotus Symphony Release 3.0.1 Revision 20120110.2000" on > German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) shows headings in sample 2012-06-06 03:09 > UTC, Timon correctly. > So it's a difficult decision: > - Is it that worth to invest time to do a fix for such strange documents? > - But if other free software is able to handle that, shouldn't LibO > be able, too? I think it would be worthwhile. "Example 9" is a typical real-life Word document. People create such files, partly because autonumbering is more or less "forced" on them by AutoCorrect. It's a feature which _should_ be used with some consideration. I regularly get Word files from people, and with LO (or OO) I can often only guess what kind of numbering the authors had in mind. Sometimes I have to use MS Word Viewer to print a PDF as a reference for the original doc's numbering. On import of DOC/DOCX, LO tries to convert Word's non-style autonumbering to a style-based numbering (the filter creates plenty of WW8 list styles). That is not a trivial thing to do, and I could imagine that this is the root of the problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57822] New: EDITING: Cells across sheets become strangely linked corrupting spreadsheet
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57822 Priority: medium Bug ID: 57822 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: EDITING: Cells across sheets become strangely linked corrupting spreadsheet Severity: blocker Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: ian.cr...@gmail.com Hardware: Other Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 3.6.3.2 release Component: Spreadsheet Product: LibreOffice Created attachment 70944 --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=70944&action=edit Minimal example to reproduce bug Caveat: this is hard to explain. Please try steps to reproduce or attached sample file. I think this might be similar to bug 51748. It seems that if you put a reference to a cell in one sheet in a cell on another sheet then other cells around also become mysteriously linked. However you cannot see these links in the content of the cells, but they behave like they are linked. It's hard to explain but it's a nightmare because you end up corrupting your whole file and by the time you realise what's happened you've overwritten lots of cells on different sheets. I cannot use an application with this behaviour as I cannot trust it not to lose my work. Steps to reproduce (the values below are arbitrary): * Create new spreadsheet * Enter value 50 in Sheet1.A1 * Enter value 60 in Sheet2.A1 * Enter "=Sheet2.A1" in Sheet1.A2 * Enter value "ss" in Sheet2.B1 * Change back to Sheet1 and you'll find that the value "ss" has been copied to Sheet1.B1. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48758] TABLE: Number Format Recognition is performed though Option "Number Format Recognition" is not Marked
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48758 --- Comment #10 from harald-koes...@htp-tel.de --- I had look to this bug report again and I also tried some more things. The result is “hopefully” an improved description of the number recognition with examples and two additional remarks. To my opinion this description could replace the help text of the options “Number Recognition” and “Number format Recognition”. < Beginning of description > _Number recognition_ Determines that the number recognition in tables is active. A number category is assigned to each cell. Generally the number recognition only works in cells with number categories Percent, Currency, Date, Time, Scientific, Fraction and Boolean Value. The number recognition works as follows: (1) A number is always recognized, if the input is recognized as a valid number value with a unit according to the number category of the cell. The cell is formatted according the format assigned in the Number Format dialog. Examples: An input of “12 %” in a cell with category Percent changes to “12.00%” or an input “10/05/20” in category Date changes to “2010-05-20”. (2) Furthermore a number is always recognized, if the input is a valid number value without a unit. The cell is formatted according the category and the format assigned in the Number Format dialog. (Hint: Value is converted, if category is Date or Time.) Examples: An input of “12.345” in a cell with category Percent changes to “12.35%”, an input of “1234.56” in category Currency changes to “$1,234.56” or an input “23456.78” in category Date or Time changes to “03/20/1964 18:43:12”. (3) If the option “Number format recognition” is marked, an inputted number with a unit is also recognized even the unit is different to the number format of the cell. The unit has to in accordance with a unit of one of the categories. The category changes according to the inputted unit. The cell is formatted with a default format of the according category. Example: An Input of “12.345%” in a cell with the category Currency changes to category Percent and “12.35%” is displayed. (4) With all other inputs the number category changes to “Text” and the inputted text is not changed. If “Number recognition” is not active, all inputted numbers are always saved in text format. < End of description > Furthermore I found a difference of the number recognition in the category Percent between English and German. I will add an attachment where differences are marked in red. I think it's not really a bug but I do not believe, that's intended. Hint: In English a dot is used as decimal mark and a comma is used as thousands separator. In German it 's exactly the other way round. Another interesting thing: If you type in a “1” in a cell with the category Date the content changes to “1899-12-31”. First I thought, that's strange, why does it not begin with 1900-01-01? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57510] pls set "Icons in menus" to always be on by default, regardless of the OS default
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57510 Roman Eisele changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|normal |enhancement CC||b...@eikota.de Component|Libreoffice |UI --- Comment #15 from Roman Eisele --- I agree with Emir Sarı. For Mac OS X, the default setting should be off. As a long-time Mac OS user, I am used to see icons in menus only in special cases (e.g. in a “Recently used items” menu), or in childish applications ... And I don’t think that the icons make our complex menus easier to comprehend etc. IMHO this is a matter of habit, too. While people which are used to icons in menus say that the menus are easier to use *with* icons, I have to confess that I am really confused by the LibO menus when the icons are visible, and can use them much easier *without* icons. Therefore we should honour the OS/desktop default settings.
