[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57971] New: deleting pagebreak won't save in .doc file on linux only

2012-12-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57971

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 57971
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: deleting pagebreak won't save in .doc file on linux
only
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: di...@s-tainment.co.za
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.4.3 rc
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 71115
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=71115&action=edit
test doc to delete a page break

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. This must be done with latest stable libreoffice on Linux platform(tested
with 3.6.4).
1. Open attached .doc file. Go to end of page 2 and select the page break and
delete it.
2. Notice that the page break deletes as requested.
3. Save document and exit.
4. Re-open document and go to end of page 2 and note that the page break is
still there and isn't saved as you requested it.

Note1: that on Linux platform if the document is .odt the above works as
expected.
Note2: that on Windows platform if the document is .doc as per above everything
works as expected with the same version!

Therefore hopefully this is quick and easy to fix.

Well, so that might not be a BSA bug.

But I believe I am not the only one who uses bookmarks and has some obsolet
ones in his collection?
If that page, that in the past was allowed, no longer may be used, it should
not show the BSA UI, but forward to the correct page. May be I will submit an
extra Bug for that.

And the bad news is:
I used the Feedback button in LibO 4.0.0, what opened
,
I was able to do all preparations, but with
I got the same Error Message for 3 attempts.

Same problem when I opened that URL in FF and tried to submit a Bug.

What I reached from Feedback in
3.6.4.3 shows the same problem for me

In the table controls, there is no feature allowing to copy a column to the
clipboard. Selecting a column an press Ctrl+C just copy one cell of the
selection.

This feature would be useful, after some data processing, for further
exploitation in other softwares like LibreOffice Calc.

This request can be extended to any selection in the table controls.

2012-12-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

This bug is pretty annoying. I'm currently preparing a presentation and I keep
losing and replacing images at least 5 times per day :(. I'm using the
LibreOffice version 3.6.2.2 from Ubuntu 12.10. Is there some kind of workaround
or fix that reduces the impact of that problem?

Also, I think that users should be warned when including images. I've got the
habit of deleting figures after embedding, since I expect them to be stored in
a document safely. Not being warned about Libre/Openoffice's bad memory can
destroy hours of work.

I agree that adding the laplace symbol would be useful. This is more relavant
to people who are working with differential equations... I think if there is a
dedicated symbol, that "%LAPLACE" would suffice and give no guesswork as to
what this is supposed to be. This is similar to how the Pi symbol and others
are done.

Confirmed, quite annoying and a regression.

Marking:
New (Confirmed)

Normal (can prevent high quality work under specific scenario)

Low (there isn't a workaround but you can insert a comment just slightly off of
the same spot and it works fine, furthermore situation of adding a comment,
then undoing the comment, then wanting to put another comment there seems
pretty rare)

Whiteboard: regression

Also note that if you go to insert it's not just comment that is grayed out,
it's really everything in there. Undo is clearly borked with comments

2012-12-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57960

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 57960
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Inconsistent Line Spacing Behavior Between 3.6 and 4.0
Branches
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: jmadero@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

I found this one when I was triaging bug:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54627

Steps to Reproduce:
Open attachment https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=66768 with 3.6+
Go into Paragraph Styles (F11)
Note the names/number of styles listed
Right click Heading 2
Modify
Look at Indents & Spacing
Note Above paragraph and below paragraph numbers

Open same document with 4+
Repeat steps above and compare notes

What I see:
Completely different set of styles, I don't even have a "Heading 2" I instead
see "heading 2" plus a bunch of other ones

Metrics are different

Marking as a regression as well as I believe that a commit in 4 has caused this

opinions about if it's better to constantly bug the user about java or just to
let them know once and then if they do more that requires java, they should
remember the first annoying message telling them to instal.

Bjoern, I cc'ed you just because I thought you might know/remember something

The statement there is that recovery from such state is not obvious (I wasn't
aware of delete&enter method at the time of writing, so it seemed that
cut&paste of formula was the only way). Don't pay too much attention to step 7,
it doesn't matter now. It was just to show how serious the bug seemed to be.

2012-12-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57709

Sorry didnt' explore enough, here are steps:

Tools -> Options -> Fonts

Check "Apply replacement table"

Font: Select a font that's in use on screen, "Replace with" choose another font

Click Green Check Mark

Check "Screen only" option in dialog

Click OK

Agreed, nothing happens and that's no good, might be useful just to disable the
feature (screen only) until it's fixed - this would probably be an easy hack.

Marking:
New (Confirmed)
Minor (not a common feature, doesn't prevent high quality work, work around is
just manually changing font)
Low (really uncommon feature to use, easy work around)

Thanks for reporting this one

If you press Delete having cursor to the right of the formula, you'll get the
text by the cursor, i.e. to the right of formula instead of it being below it.
Now you can press Enter and have the text where it should be.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57530] FILEOPEN XLS: Severe performance regressions in LO compared to Open Office

2012-12-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57530

Joel Madero changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW
 Whiteboard||regression perf
   Priority|medium |high
 Ever confirmed|0 |1

I just got done triaging this one and here are my results:

Version|file format|time to open (seconds)
3.6.3.2 | xls | 25.5
3.6.3.2 | ods | 8.1
4.1.0.0alpha | xls | 29.5
4.1.0.0alpha | ods| 6.3

I don't have a version of OOo to try with. I suspect our differences are
because of hardware.

I'm going to mark this as NEW against version 4 and put regression (because of
the 25% decrease in speed). My bigger concern is that both versions have such a
huge difference in time to open between xls and ods. Also interesting point is
that the ods file is substantially bigger than the xls file (more than 50%
larger).

Developers might want a second bug opened to reflect the difference in time
between ods and xls (vs. the performance difference between 3.6+ and 4+) but
I'll hold on that until requested.

NEW (confirmed)
Normal (performance/regression related)
High (performance/regression of 25% in speed) for a larger document I suspect
it would be a lot more than 6 seconds difference)

Whiteboard: regression perf (performance regression)

Thanks for the file, a developer may request it at some point, if they do
please send in there way as I may miss the request in the chaos of my emails :)

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57957

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 57957
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: Limit lines in charts
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: ling...@att.net
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Chart
   Product: LibreOffice

I would like to see limit lines added to Chart.

These would show maximum and/or minimum limits for good and bad data.

Example: Y axis is labeled from 0 to 200 with 3 data sets.

I would like to add a minimum line at 60 and maximum lines at 99 and 199. The
line can be any color.

If this is already possible, let me know how to do it.

Thanks,

Hugh

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42092] SVG vector graphics exported as bitmaps to PDF

lo_4.0.0.0alpha_svg_rendering.pdf: SVG test with LO 4.0.0alpha

I have just made some tests with an alpha build of LO 4.0.0. The vector SVG
handling code is active in the new release. The code merge must have happened
quite early, it seems the current AOO has already some additional fixes in it
(at least, I could open the SVG on p. 3 with AOO, and it was "near correct").
The Wikimedia map actually renders quite well, but complex SVGs (with
gradients...) still are a problem. I read on the Apache dev mailing list that
the new drawing code still needs about half a year of work, so this may be the
time frame until proper SVG support is ready, I suppose.

LO 3.5/3.6 stores vector graphics as SVG internally, but every output is done
via bitmaps. As Roman says, this is related to Bug 42092. (By the way,
attachment 42092, "RNE sample 1, B+W floor plan.zip", also contains only a
bitmap, but hi-res.) Word cannot handle SVG, so vector graphics have to be
converted to EPS or a WMF format. LO doesn't do that, even the current LO 4.0.0
alpha: it still rasterizes SVG for DOCX output.

Changed component and platform. I think this will be the same on every system.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57956] New: FORMATTING: Regression: text width scaling broken in impress and draw

2012-12-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57956

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 57956
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Regression: text width scaling broken in
impress and draw
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.4.3 rc
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Making drawings or presentation, it is often convenient to be able to adjust
(scale) the character width (e.g. to make a word or a sentence look better
inside a box, etc. Openoffice and Libreoffice have a function for this under
the character formatting menu.

Unfortunately, in recent LibO this does not work anymore (in the preview the
text is scaled, but in the final display it is not).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open LibO draw or presentation
2. Create a text box, write something into it
3. Select the text
4. Select Format -> Character -> Position
5. Set a scaling different from 100% for the character width
(here you see the preview text getting larger for scales above 100% and
tight for scales less than 100%)
6. Press OK... and see that nothing actually changes!

Current behavior:

Text width gets scaled only in the preview, when you press OK to apply the
formatting to the text in a text box, the text stays the same regardless of the
text width scaling factor

Expected behavior:

The formatted text should increase or decrease its horizontal scale depending
on the scaling factor being selected.

Notes:

1) This is certainly a regression
2) This breaks the formatting of previously prepared documents and particularly
of presentations (due to the fact that I am using text scaling in a template,
almost all my presentations and lectures are broken and cannot be played
properly).
3) AOO is OK on this.

Example spreadsheet showing the problem.

Conditional formatinng in spreadsheet is not seen correctly when opened in
Excel 2007. I have this problem with version 3.6.4 and several previous
versions. 3.6.4 was not available, so I selected 3.6.4rc3.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Create a spreadsheet with Calc, with three cells A1, B1 and C1, conatining
"A", "B" and "C" respectively.
2) Create a new style, name it Q, and select Bold Font.
3) Select the three cells, and select conditional formatting.
4) Add a rule with a formula $Sheet1.$B1="Q", and apply the style Q.
5) Copy and paste rows to create 4 rows of these three cells.
6) Change B3 to "Q" and notice that A3, B3 and C3 are now Bold.
7) Save this spreadsheet as an xls file (97/2000/XP/2003).
8) Open this file in Excel 2007, and observe that the Bold is not shown.
9) Set B1 to "Q", and observe that all 12 cells are now bold.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49832] PRINTING: Writer rasterizes SVG for output to a printer or into PDF, which leads to poor quality laser printing.

2012-12-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to comment #22)
See Bug 42092 for an explanation of current LO behaviour, especially Bug 42092
Comment 20. LO developers intentionally switched from SVM to SVG as internal
storage format with LO 3.5, which causes some problems until LO fully supports
SVG. As Michael Meeks explains: It is intentional and won't be fixed in 3.5/3.6
releases.

Looks like the token it hangs on is:

// 40120C69 -> c69 == 3177
// const sal_Int32 XML_mPr = 3177;

while( !stream.atEnd() && stream.currentToken() != CLOSING(
stream.currentToken()))

poking at tokens.hxx - so some \\mm or \\mmPr must be behaving oddly I suppose.

Nor does colour get saved. Something quite odd happening. If you set up
conditional formatting with LO eg background colours set by the contents of a
cell, it works fine in LO working in XLS or ODS format. Save as XLS and open in
Excel - no colour formatting. Save from Excel, reopen that saved file in LO -
the conditional formatting works again. So, something is being saved and it's
retained by Excel, but it's not in the right form for Excel to use. Please fix!
