Moreover, it is possible to avoid it in two steps, copying and pasting the picture from ChemSketch to a MicrosoftOffice document, followed by the same procedure from MicrosoftOffice document to LibreOffice. During the procedure, the picture keep the same possibilities as it was copied in an Microsoft document (exemple : double click on the picture in Libre Office automaticaly open ACD-CHemSketch and permit to directly modify the drawn chemical formulae without erase/copy/paste step). This procedure remains a big constraint. This observation seems to contradict the previously described problem by Alex Thurgood in september 2011 (I quote) : The problem was AFAICR with the copy buffer not accepting the list of possibilities provided by ACD, and being limited to only PNG/JPG ? Exporting to e. g. .png or .svg does not show this bug. OpenOffice Draw (version 3.2.0) prints/exports the same drawing correctly. (LO localized to German, should be irrelevant to the bug) Steps to reproduce: 1. create two (or more) different shapes (e.g. rectangle and circle) in Inkscape, position them adjacent to each other to form a non-symmetric arrangement and group them. Select that group and copy (via clip board) into Draw. 2. In Draw, make a few copies of that group. Select one (or several) of the copies and mirror them verically/horizontally, select another copy and rotate it. 3. Now try to print it. Even in print preview, you will notice that the mirrored copies appear in their original orientation while the rotated one(s) display(s) as in the Draw drawing. Current behavior: the mirroring tranformation is not reflected for imported (SVG) objects when printing (or exporting to PDF or XPS) the Drawing. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58132] New: : Button “Revert” in Option Dialogs does not Work as expected
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58132 Priority: medium Bug ID: 58132 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: : Button “Revert” in Option Dialogs does not Work as expected Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 3.6.4.3 release Component: Libreoffice Product: LibreOffice Problem description: To my opinion not all aspects mentioned in bug 39452 are resolved. The comment list of that bug is quite long. So I tried to disentangle this a bit with new bug reports. This is the first of them. In all Option dialogs exists the button “Revert”. In Versions older than 3.5.x it was called “Back”. In bug report 39452 it has already been discussed, what the correct function of the button “Back” or “Revert” is. There are different possibilities: (1) Getting Started Guide, Chapter 2 – Setting up LibreOffice, section “Choosing options for all of LibreOffice” says: The Back button has the same effect on all pages of the Options dialog. It resets the options to the values that were in place when you opened LibreOffice. The German tool tip says the same like the Getting Started Guide. (2) The English tool tip says “Resets modified values back to the LibreOffice default values.” I do not believe, that this is the original intention, hence for some options an additional “Default” button exists (e. g. option dialog “LibreOffice Writer Basic Fonts (Western)”). (3) Only changes of the current options dialog are reverted. This is what happens currently for the most options. May be this is intended, but nearly the same function can be performed by clicking the Cancel button. The difference is that with Cancel the dialog is closed, with Revert it is not closed. (4) Other possibilities ….? So, if there has been a coordinated original intention (what I'm not sure about), I tend to possibility (1). Then possibility (3) would be a bug. In order to reproduce this here the necessary steps: [1] Start LO and open a new text document. [2] Open option dialog: Tools Options... LibreOffice General [3] Change an option, e. g. check “Use LibreOffice Dialogs”. Then OK. The dialog closes. [4] Open the same option dialog again. [5] Click “Revert”. Displayed options don't change. Expected behaviour: Option values should reset to values, that were in place when LO has been opened. That means in this case: Reset of option “Use LibreOffice Dialogs”. I checked this with some other options. The result is always the same, only changes of the current options dialog can be reverted. So it seemed, that the described behaviour is valid for all options. At last a proposal for an improvement of the Revert button: It should be greyed if there is nothing to revert. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58133] New: : No Transparency what Happened with Changed Options if you Change to another Options Dialog
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58133 Priority: medium Bug ID: 58133 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: : No Transparency what Happened with Changed Options if you Change to another Options Dialog Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 3.6.4.3 release Component: Libreoffice Product: LibreOffice To my opinion not all aspects mentioned in bug 39452 are resolved. The comment list of that bug is quite long. So I tried to disentangle this a bit with new bug reports. This is the second of them. If you like to change an option you usually open the according options dialog, change the option and then close the dialog with OK. But you don't really know what happened with changed options if you change directly to another options dialog. Is the changed option saved or not? Will it be saved with OK in the second options dialog or not? What happened with changed options if you cancel the second options dialog? What happened with the option if you click “Revert”? ... I made some tests according this aspect and found out that the behaviour is not always equal. For example do this: (1) Start LO and open a new text document. (2) Open option dialog: Tools Options... LibreOffice General. (3) Check “Extended tips”. (4) Change to option dialog “Memory”. (5) Click Cancel. (6) Open option dialog: Tools Options... LibreOffice General. The option “Extended tips” is checked, that means it has been saved with step (4). If you perform the same procedure with a Writer option the behaviour is different: (2) Open option dialog: Tools Options... LibreOffice Writer View. (3) Check “Helplines While Moving”. (4) Change to option dialog “General”. (5) Click Cancel. (6) Open option dialog: Tools Options... LibreOffice Writer View. In this case the option “Helplines While Moving” is not checked. Contrary to the first example the option has not been saved. At step (5) you have to click OK in order to save the changed option of step (3). To my opinion for a better transparency what happened, a user should decide directly when he leaves an option dialog whether the changed option shall be saved or not. This means at step (4) in the example. In order to provide this decision a message “You changed “LibreOffice Writer – General” options. Do you want to save your changes?” or similar has to be displayed if an option has been changed by the user. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58134 Priority: medium Bug ID: 58134 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: : Revert Button in Option Dialogs does not Work with all Options Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 3.6.4.3 release Component: Libreoffice Product: LibreOffice To my opinion not all aspects mentioned in bug 39452 are resolved. The comment list of that bug is quite long. So I tried to disentangle this a bit with new bug reports. This is the third of them. The Revert Button in the Options dialogs does not work with some options. Do this: (1) Start LO and open a new text document. (2) Open option dialog: Tools Options... LibreOffice Print (3) Choose “Print to file” at option “Reduce print date, Settings for“. (4) Click Revert button. “Print to file” is still chosen. Expected: “Printer” is chosen. Other examples for the same behaviour are the options “Language Settings – User interface” or “LibreOffice Writer – Basic Fonts (Western) – Current document only”. I did not check all options. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58135] New: : No Transparency what Happened with Changed Options in Sub-Dialogs of Option Dialogs
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58135 Priority: medium Bug ID: 58135 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: : No Transparency what Happened with Changed Options in Sub-Dialogs of Option Dialogs Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 3.6.4.3 release Component: Libreoffice Product: LibreOffice To my opinion not all aspects mentioned in bug 39452 are resolved. The comment list of that bug is quite long. So I tried to disentangle this a bit with new bug reports. This is the forth of them. The function of the buttons OK, Cancel and Revert in option dialogs is not transparent if there are sub-dialogs with additional options. Especially it is not clear, if these buttons are also valid for the options in the sub-dialogs. I found these sub-dialogs with additional options: (a) LibreOffice Security Security options and warnings Options... (b) LibreOffice Security Macro security Macro Security... (c) LibreOffice Java Parameters... (d) LibreOffice Class Path... (e) LibreOffice Writer Mail Merge E-Mail Server Authentication (f) Language Settings Writing Aids Edit... Proposal in order to enhance transparency: Sub-dialogs with additional options should be avoided. If necessary, existing option dialogs should be split. For example the dialog “Security” can be split to “Security of Documents”, “Passwords for Web Connections” and “Macro Security”. Additional to this enhancement proposal I found the following 2 bugs related to sub-dialogs: [A] Sub-dialog “LibreOffice Security Options...” (1) Open sub-dialog “Options...”. (2) Check “When saving or sending” if unchecked. Otherwise uncheck. (3) Click “Cancel” and open sub-dialog again. Despite clicking Cancel the option has been saved. Expected: No change of option. [B] Sub-dialog “LibreOffice Security Macro Security...” (1) Open sub-dialog “Macro Security...”. Security level “High” is displayed. Button “Reset” is not greyed. (2) Chose tab “Trusted Sources”. Now “Reset” is greyed. (3) Chose tab “Security Level” again. “Reset” is still greyed. It's nearly nothing, but I would expect, that “Reset” is greyed already at step (1). (4) Chose “Very high”. “Reset” changes to not greyed. (5) Click “Reset”. Security level remains “Very High”. Expected: Reset to “High”. For me it is not clear, if the button Reset in this dialog shall have the same function as the Revert button. If yes it should be renamed to Revert. I did not check all sub-dialogs, so there may be similar bugs in other sub-dialogs.
